The Director and Don Juan; The Story Sisters #2, Blueberry Lane #16 (Series)
by Katy Regnery (Author)
This review is from: June 26, 2017 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)
Welcome back to Blueberry Lane where Alice Story is front and center. She is an independent woman, a lot like her father; strong, a self starter, and perhaps a little head strong, yet she is different because she cares about her employees.
Alice stood up against her father and his uncompassionate ways, leaving his oppressive work environment, and in a “Jerry McGuire” like way took a stand and asked any fellow employees if they wanted to follow. The only employee that did was Carlos Vega.
Three years later and we find ourselves in the present where Story Sisters Imports is finally thriving and Carlos is still by her side, having grown right along with Alice, but still faithful to a fault, something that Alice begins to notice having once lived under a shadow at her fathers company for much too long.
When a new business deal lands on SSI’s doorstep, one where Alice needs Carlos’ help on a business trip, she decides before Carlos even has a chance to decline that it’s time for him to move departments and advance within the company, basically severing their close business relationship.
What Alice doesn’t know is that Carlos may take orders from her at work, but during this business trip she is going to see a whole new side to the man she thought she knew.
Carlos Vega has been by Alice’s side since she began SSI. His admiration for her as a business woman along with his affections for her as a woman have grown the longer he’s known her. He knows how seriously she takes her job so he’s always kept things professional between them, but when Alice practically pushes him out of the door telling him how to live his life, Carlos decides he’s had enough of living on the back burner. It’s finally time to claim Alice and let her know he adores the independent woman she is during business hours, but when the lights go out he’s the man in charge.
Katy Regnery is brilliant. I love revisiting her over and over again. I love coming home to Katy Regnery stories, because that is what it feels like, sitting down and having coffee with my girlfriends and catching up while we all talk about what is going on in our lives. The Story Sisters are such a joy to read.
