The Edge of Us (Standalone)
by Veronica Larsen (Author)
This review is from: July 17, 2017 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)
The love triangle is The Edge of Us kept my emotions of the edge through the entire story. The last time I recall being this torn up over a love triangle was when I was Switzerland and sided “Team Jakeward”. Yeah, I was totally a Twi-Mom and loved every moment of reading those books with my girls when they were little.
The Edge of Us opens with Mila Zelenko, a self-made business woman, winning the award for Entrepreneur of the Year. As she’s making her speech you get a little insight of what makes up Mila, you see a tiny glimpse into her past, and you feel whatever is about to happen in her future by the emotions bubbling under her surface.
Oh yes, the first chapter is that jam-packed and yet you have absolutely no idea what is going on, but you HAVE to find out what is going on because the first chapter will ensnare you.
Rewind several weeks and the story takes you back. What? I have to find out what is going on with Mila now!
Veronica Larsen is brilliant in setting the scenes for what happens next. She may be my new favorite author for writing stories involving love triangles. I hate and love her at the same time because these stories get me all angsty and I flip sides numerous times, but that’s why I love her so, so much.
Back to the story…
“Sometimes the past can resurface, wrap around us and consume us in all the ways it did before.”
Andrew Pearson and Mila Zelenko have been friends for eight years. They have been friends for the same amount of time Cole Van Buren has been out of her life. She met Andrew on her wedding night. The night Cole didn’t show up and left Mila standing alone at the altar. Is it a coincidence that these two men intersect and have such a huge impact on her life at the most crucial times?
Andrew has been waiting eight years for Mila to heal. Eight years for the hurt and anger to dissipate. Eight years for the timing to be right. He may not have consciously known he’d been waiting for Mila to open up, but when the opportunity presented itself he didn’t hold back. Now that he’s had a taste of Mila he wants her and he’s not giving up until she’s his everyday.
Mila has been relying on Andrew for eight years. His friendship has meant more to her than she can voice. When things move into more than friendship she is shocked by the possibility that has been lingering in front of her all these years. How could she have missed all the signs that point to her best friend being more than a friend? When Cole comes back into town trying his best to explain what happened eight years ago, Mila’s hurt bubbles to the surface and she isn’t certain that she wants an explanation. Her hate has been a blanket that kept her sheltered. If she lets it go of it what will keep her safe from letting someone in?
Will it be Andrew or will it be Cole? You have to read this book to find out what happens and feel all the angsty feelings I felt while reading this amazing story.
