How can Harper be sweet when all she wants to do is give them a taste of her honey?

She’s in trouble. Big trouble. Mafia big.

Harper Larson works. Hard. She’s had no breaks in life, but that only drives her to put it all on the line. Nothing’s going to stop her from succeeding at building her catering business. At least until she gets mixed up with the Irish mafia. There’s only one person…no, two, who will help her stay alive. Dane and Leo.

One look at Harper’s sweet curves and irresistible body is all it takes to make two alpha males hungry, and not for food. They know she’s going to be theirs. One taste and there’s no going back. And when witnessing more than she bargained for puts her life at risk, they’ll do whatever it takes to protect her.

Warning: Panty melting with two hot heroes and a heroine who’s too sweet for her own good. This MFM is all about the woman. No M/M.

EXCERPT:

Dropping my mouth to her shoulder, I kissed my way across it to her neck, then up to settle at the sweet spot behind her ear. “She taste like sugar?” I asked, my mouth watering for a turn on my knees.
Dane lifted his head, looked up at us with a glistening mouth. “Fuck, yes.”

Papa’s Little Bride by Sue Lyndon

PG-ish excerpt for Papa’s Little Bride:

He runs a hand through his hair. “I want you to live here, Faith. With me. I will give you a room of your very own. I will take care of you, and you will want for nothing.”

“You want me as your mistress?” I ask hesitantly. As I await his response, I decide being Mr. Freemont’s mistress would not be so bad. Belonging to one man would surely be better than spreading my legs for multiple men a day at Madam Angelic’s establishment. In the back of my mind, I’ve always known it would be a possibility that I’d end up working as a prostitute in order to survive. Of course, I had intended to exhaust all other avenues of work first.

“No, not as my mistress.” He grasps my hand. “As my wife, by trial.”

“I’m afraid I don’t understand.”

“We would be married for a trial period of thirty days. At the end of those thirty days, we can decide whether to remain married or to separate. If we decided to separate for some reason, I would see that you remain taken care of for the rest of your life.”

“I see. So at the end of the thirty days, we both decide? You would not force me to stay with you if I did not wish it?”

“Precisely. I’m not in the habit of keeping wives against their will,” he says with a wry smile that serves to ease the tension. “However, I will be upfront with you about my expectations. I am not looking for an ordinary wife or an ordinary marriage.” He pauses for a moment. “You would live as my little girl, and you would call me Papa. I would care for you, and guide you, even discipline you when necessary. I would be a strict but loving father figure to you, Faith, and in time, when and if I think you are ready, I would take you as my wife-in-truth. I couldn’t help but notice how you blushed when I called you little girl and young lady, and I see that you keep squirming. The very idea of being my sweet little girl, and my wife, has no doubt shocked you, but it has also made you feel achy between your thighs, hasn’t it?”

I’m stunned speechless.

NSFW excerpt from Papa’s Little Bride:

My sweet, but naughty, little girl obediently lays over my lap. A thrill jolts through me to have her in this position, with her bottom jutted up high and her legs slightly parted to reveal the slickness glimmering at the slit of her smooth pink cunny. She soon gasps and tries to place her thighs together, and I respond by shifting her over one knee, forcing her legs to fall open. I clamp my free leg atop her fidgeting ones and cup her behind cheeks, each in turn, massaging and inspecting her luscious pale globes.

“You will remain spread like this during your punishment, young lady. There will be no hiding from Papa. Your cunny will remain on full display at all times while I’m reddening your bottom cheeks. I realize this might embarrass you, especially because I’ll be able to see every little glimmer of moisture, and no doubt when you squirm, your secret inner folds, but you were a naughty little girl and this added embarrassment is part of your punishment. This is what happens to naughty little girls. They get turned over their papa’s knee for a good, hard spanking.” With that, I raise my hand and let the first strike fall. My palm descends on her right cheek with a resounding smack, and I waste no time in delivering the second blow to her left cheek.

“Oh! Ouch!” She wiggles, but I easily hold her in place.

“None of that,” I scold, alternating smacks from one reddening cheek to the other, peppering her entire bottom with sharp swats. “You’re getting this spanking whether you like it or not.”

Build-A-Daddy by Maren Smith

Excerpt:

She wished she hadn’t stopped in Wichita for that Five-Hour Energy shot with a forty-ounce Code Red chaser.

“I really have to pee,” she told her bear. Supposedly, somewhere in all that fast-falling snow was a bathroom. She couldn’t think of anything more stupid than blindly setting out in search of it. On the other hand, if she just sat here, she was going to wet her pants and these were cloth seats. Also, her Little didn’t like diaper play.

Wind buffeted the car. Already swirling snow was building on the windows. Even with the heater running, it was storming hard enough to blanket all but the sections of glass closest to the vents. The underside melted, but the upper layer accumulated, growing thicker by the minute. She watched thin rivulets of water slip along under the snow like tears.

Why was it that the longer a person thought about having to pee, the worse the sensation became? The pressure of the seatbelt was too much, so Aubrey took it off. She tried to find a more comfortable, less bladder-crunched way to sit. She bounced a couple times. It wasn’t working. In the short amount of time she’d spent parked here, the swirling storm had completely covered every window and presumably, the rest of her vehicle. Getting out was a bad idea, but she had to do something to relieve the pressure.

Leaning over the backrest, she hooked her jacket off the rear seat and pulled it on. She shoved open the driver’s-side door just in time to see bright, yellow light splash over the door and her arm. She yanked her arm back in just as the pickup truck slid to a stop beside her, shaving the door clean off her car.

In the half-second of heart-pounding quiet which directly followed, there was a lot Aubrey couldn’t remember. She didn’t remember crab-crawling into the passenger seat until her back butted against the other door. She sure didn’t remember grabbing Potentially Demonic Bear because never in her wildest imaginings did she imagine hugging him would have saved her from anything. At best, he was only a Build-A-Bear, he just didn’t have that kind of power. At worst… well, the jury was still out on which side of the whole Good vs. Evil Spectrum he swung.

Staring wide-eyed and horrified at the jet-black truck and gaping snow-filled hole where her door used to be, Aubrey honestly didn’t know if she’d screamed. She couldn’t remember making a sound. Not until that truck rocked, the window cranked down, and a dark-haired man in a well-worn brown felt cowboy hat popped his head into view. The truck was high enough, so he had to scrunch down to see her, but his eyes were no less wide than hers, and when he saw her, his face paled.

“Christ on a cracker,” he swore, peering through the narrow gap between the bottom of his window frame and the top of her now quite broken car. “Lady, I’m so sorry. I couldn’t see a thing.”

In that instant, two thoughts centered themselves in her mind—a mind blown empty by the shock of what had just happened. First, how was she going to get to Nebraska or hell, even the next town, in a car without a driver’s door? And second, from his hat to the white collar of his t-shirt to the black collar of his leather jacket, the man looked just like her Build-A-Bear. And her Build-A-Bear looked exactly the way she had imagined her cowboy Daddy would when she’d been hugging the little cloth heart.

“Holy shit,” she said stunned, her breath steaming the snow-flecked air as it came swirling into her car. She hadn’t built a bear. “I built a Daddy!”

About Maren Smith:

“For me, romance and kink have always gone hand in hand. I love strong, authoritative men—men who are both ready, willing and able to leave the lady of their choosing red–bottomed and weeping for her own good. Writing has given me the wonderful freedom to explore my kinky side without feeling ‘weird’. Even better, with the invention of the Internet, I can write what I love and know it will be appreciated by people with the same interests. Although I’ve been writing spanking romances for more than twenty years, it’s only been in the last five that I’ve truly broken out of my self-imposed shell to explore the other aspects of my submissive nature. Fortunate enough to live with my Dominant, I am an author, a Little and a submissive for the love of my life. Between that and my membership at my local Dungeons, there are very few things that I write about that I haven’t tried at least once.”

Excerpt – Rated R

Kris Kringle Candy Cane Treatment

Connor was so proud of his brave, little girl. She played hard, she wore her emotions on her sleeve. And he’d known for a long time now that she wanted to go further, but she was scared to try. Luckily, he had gotten an early Christmas present to go with their cane. He laid the cane down on the table and picked up the other item he’d brought back that she hadn’t paid particular attention to. She would soon enough though.

“Okay, little girl. Daddy is going to punish you for being so naughty. He’s going to give you the extra special Kris Kringle candy cane treatment.”

He opened the large candy cane and held it front of her mouth. It was only four inches long and approximately an inch in diameter. The perfect implement for what he had in mind.

“Open your mouth and suck, baby.”

Her eyes widened, but she opened her mouth and accepted the huge peppermint candy with the hook on the end.

He pulled it out and some of her saliva dripped down as he held it in her line of sight. “Do you know where this is going, baby girl?”

About Katherine Deane:

USA Today bestselling author Katherine Deane is a multi-published, top 100 romantic and BDSM author and romantic at heart.

She loves cheese, red wine, chocolate, and snuggling up with her daughters’ kittens while reading a good book.

When not reading, or writing, you can find her knitting, sewing, crafting, or doing pretty much anything to keep her hands busy. She has taken over the dining room AKA craft room, much to her husband’s dismay. In one of her books, an energetic “craftaholic” would find herself over her husband’s knee for losing an important document in a pile of bi-cone crystals and mod podge. Her real life, and the people in them, give her plenty of ideas to work with.

Katherine has dubbed herself the queen of cheese. Not only is she a former Midwestern Cheese Head; she also loves to incorporate it into her books.

In her opinion, all romance deserves at least one cheesy scene that makes you cry.

Mountain Man Daddy’s Christmas Surprise by Kara Kelley

Excerpt:

“You weren’t coming outside like that, were you?” He yanked off his toque with a growl, kicked off his boots and shucked out of his coat. Snow landed at his feet and began melting.

“I was hot,” she said meekly. “But, no. I just realized what I was wearing and was going to change when you came through the door.”

He hung his coat on the hook and took the mugs from her, holding both handles in one of his large hands so he could brush the snow from his hair and beard.

“Go ahead then, little girl.” He gave her a half smile and her heart fluttered happily. “Not that I don’t enjoy looking at your legs, but you’re going to catch a cold.”

Her brows rose at his words. “Every time you say that I tell you that you don’t catch a cold from the weather, you catch a cold from a virus.” She watched as he rubbed his big hand over his beard seemingly in consideration of her statement. Rocky seemed to grow bored by their conversation and walked to the woodstove, grunted and threw himself down in front of it.

“And every time you say that, I’m usually taking care of you, making you soup and handing you tissues the next week.”

She rolled her eyes. “That’s just a coincidence. I’m the one who goes to town and people give me germs.”

“Did you just roll your eyes at me, young lady?” His voice was deep, low and threatening.

She shivered but grinned cheekily. “Umm, I sure did.” She turned, spun on the balls of her feet, and ran into the bedroom, knowing he still held the two cups and would have to set them down before chasing her.

Just as he flew into the room, at a speed a man of his size shouldn’t be capable of, Rocky bustled in behind him.

“Stay back, Mountain Man or my bear will attack,” she said with a giggle, pointing at Rocky. “You hear him growling?”

“Black bears don’t growl, little one.” He stalked closer to the bed, and she scrambled off the other side. Rocky was silently but intently watching.

“Hmm, learn something new every day,” she replied and shifted to match his movement, keeping them an equal distance apart.

“I plan on teaching you something else.”

His smirk was hidden, but she knew by the sparkle in his eyes that he was being playful. Oh, she’d end up over his knee, but it would be for fun and it would end in the most delicious way.

As he lunged across the bed at her, Rocky made a deep pulsing throaty noise that made Mike freeze.

“I thought you said they don’t growl?” Avery’s stomach quivered.

“That wasn’t a growl, Avery, but it was a threat.”

Avery looked at the bear, large and intimidating, filling the doorway with his mass. He hadn’t moved his eyes from Mike for even a second. Mike rolled and sat up on the bed.

“Do you think a huge storm is coming and Rocky’s trying to warn us?” she asked.

“No, he’s protecting you. I’m just not sure why.” Mike scratched his beard, eying the bear warily.

“He’s never done this before. He sees us play all the time. Hell, he’s seen you punishing me.”

“Right.” He narrowed his eyes and shot her a quick warning glance. “Don’t go anywhere alone.”

His deep voice reverberated through her. “What?” Her brow furrowed. “But this is why you taught me how to use the gun, and made me pore over books on wildlife, and got me the car. So I didn’t need a chaperone all the time.”

“Avery, I won’t argue over this. Something’s changed and until I know what it is, you’re on lockdown. You don’t leave this cabin without me.”

He looked at her, the playful sternness replaced by the real kind that made her belly sink like a rock and her nether cheeks tingle in dread.

“Understood?”

“Yes.” She nodded and he rose from the bed. If she couldn’t tell how concerned he was by his pallor and tight expression, she could tell by the way he hadn’t made her repeat her ‘yes’ and add ‘daddy’. Mike was worried. Avery chewed her lip. And that made her worry, too.

The Daddy Contract by Adaline Raine

Excerpts:

Excerpt #1: Rated-PG

“Did you see me on the couch last night?” She twirled a piece of her hair around her finger as she waited for his answer. She was afraid her nighttime recollections might be real. “I thought I fell asleep there.”

“Yeah, you feel asleep mostly sitting up. Your body was all scrunched, so I carried you to bed.”

“Oh. Well, thank you.” She forced a smile. “I don’t really remember all the details, but I dreamed you kissed me good-night.”

“You opened your eyes and appeared to be wide awake, but I didn’t kiss you.” He winked. “You did grab my face and kiss me for a while though.”

“Hm.” She forced her focus on the coffee pot, willing it to brew faster to get her out of this awkward conversation. It hadn’t been just a simple peck. No, in her half asleep state, it had turned into a full blown make-out session. No wonder it had felt real. It had been! “So, uh where were you headed before the storm came through?”

“I was on my way to stay with a friend. He and his wife throw a big party every year after Christmas, but I was going to stay a few extra days. The weather thwarted the trip, so I headed this way. I hope you don’t mind too much.” He grinned. “Am I imposing on your holiday plans?”

“No. I didn’t have any to start with. Did Rhett send you out to check on me?” When was the last time they had seen each other? Probably a year to the day. Even without her snowbird parents, this house was the gathering place for Christmas Eve except for this year. Kayleigh had told Rhett she wanted to be alone. Stupid blizzard messed up her agenda of getting drunk and watching sad movies.

“Your brother had nothing to do with the weather. Maybe this storm was supposed to send me here. No one should be alone on Christmas.”

Excerpt #2: Rated-18+

“Oof.” Kayleigh landed with a groan and knocked her thoughts back to the present. Three sharp taps hit against the very top of her right thigh followed by the same number and intensity on the left. His palm seared the sensitive juncture, still sore from the earlier round, and she kicked her feet out. Bastian hooked a leg over hers, locking her in place. Part of her regretted the challenge she’d thrown out, but the other sang in relief. She’d tested. He’d responded. “I’m sorry!”

“You’ll be more sorry when I’m done with you.”

“I didn’t mean whatever you thought I meant.”

“No more talking. I made a shiny new ball gag last weekend, and I’m happy to test it on you.”

His Little Noelle by Maggie Ryan

Excerpts:

Excerpt #1: rated-R

Davis grinned as he stood beside the bed. “Close your eyes, and don’t open them until I say.”

She immediately obeyed, nipples protruding like hard little bullets at his instruction and the endless possibilities of what her daddy had planned. His roaming fingers and gentle tugs on her nipples had kept her aroused throughout. His strokes across her sex, his quick flicks against her clit had her entire body thrumming. She felt like a fine instrument that he played with expertise, surprising her with the tempo, the cadence of every stroke, every probe, eliciting her vocal accompaniment as he conducted his symphony. He’d left her panting, primed, and so very eager for him to reach for her again, to play the final chord, the crescendo that would fill the air with the sounds of an extremely satisfied woman. Instead, she knelt, her eyes tightly closed, straining to hear his movements, wondering what he was doing.

So badly wanting to peek as she heard him moving about the room, she denied herself, not wanting to ruin the surprise. Even the sinking of the mattress as he joined her on the bed did not cause her eyelids to flutter open. After another moment or two, with a bit more jostling that she couldn’t quite figure out the purpose of, he spoke.

“You may open your eyes.”

Once she did, she could only gape and then giggle. He was sitting with his back against the headboard, a big grin on his face.

“What’s the matter, little girl? Haven’t you ever seen Santa Claus before?” She couldn’t really yet speak as he shook his head, causing the huge pom-pom on the tip of the red hat he wore to sway. Large fingers stroked down the long white beard hanging down to his chest, but it was his free hand—the hand that could deliver devilish pain or provide exquisite pleasure—which encircled his erection, that captured and held her gaze.

“I believe some little girl never got the chance to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what she wanted for Christmas.”

He released his beard and cock and reached for her. Crawling to him, she could feel her face flush and her pussy gush… not to sit on his lap, but to straddle him, her hand replacing his to guide the head of his cock to the entrance of her sex. Lowering down slowly, she moaned as inch by inch she took him inside. His girth always caused a bit of discomfort, yet she didn’t even try to disguise the mews of pleasure she experienced as he slowly filled her.

“Need some help?” he asked, his hands slipping to hold her waist.

“Yes, please,” she managed, gasping when he lifted his hips to drive the final few inches of his shaft deep inside her, pulling her down until her bottom settled on his groin.

“Comfy?” he teased.

“Very,” she said softly, amazed as always that he actually fit inside her.

Davis grinned and allowed his hands to slip behind her, fingers splaying against her buttocks. “I’ve heard you’ve been a very good girl this year.”

Excerpt #2: rated-PG

She followed the direction his finger was pointing and shook her head. “No way I’m going to climb up a mountain and then careen down on some flimsy sled. I don’t have a death wish!”

“Don’t worry, we’re not going sledding,” Davis said.

“He’s right, and you don’t have to climb. We take the T-bar lift up and then we’re going to race down on toboggans,” Steven confirmed. “Unless, of course, you just want to concede now and go join the little snow babies.”

Noelle just gaped up at the mountain again and then looked at Davis before turning to Steven. “We are so going to beat you! I’ll expect an apology and the biggest funnel cake in Wyoming after you finally slide over the finish line.”

“That’s the spirit,” Steven said, giving her a hug.

“Who knew you were as competitive as the rest of us?” Davis said, pulling her to him.

“You’re a bad influence, Davis Waterford,” she said. “If I die on this mountain, I swear I’ll come back and haunt you for the rest of your life, and it won’t be pretty!”

“You’re not going to die, babygirl. You are going to have a blast!”

All of Davis’ siblings except for Colleen and Paul joined them. Noelle was sure she’d made a huge mistake as soon as she jumped off the lift. She’d not truly expected to be taken so high up the mountain. Though she’d skied before, it had been after taking lessons, and her fate had been in her own hands.

“You know, when I was in ski class, the very first thing the instructor taught us was how to fall. And the girl next to me broke her arm the moment she hit the ground.”

“You don’t have to worry about falling, babe. You’ll be sitting down,” Davis assured her. “Even if something did happen, you wouldn’t have far to fall.”

“You just said I didn’t have to worry about falling!” Noelle protested, punching his arm.

“Of course, keep punching me and you might want to slide down the mountain on your tummy, if you get my drift.”

Excerpt #3: rated-PG-13

“What’s this?”

“I don’t know, Santa doesn’t tell me everything,” he said with a shrug.

“Well, it has your name on it,” she said, looking at the tag hanging from a ribbon.

“It does?”

Noelle rolled her eyes but giggled and played along. “Yes, see? It says Daddy.”

Taking the package from her, he read the tag. “Actually, it says for Noelle’s Daddy.”

“Same thing, go ahead and open it,” she said, tugging on her second boot.

Davis tied it and then sat next to her on the bed and opened the package. Lifting it up, he watched her eyes and saw the puzzlement in their depths.

“What is it?”

“Bells,” he said, giving the string a shake and hearing a soft chiming fill the room.

“I can hear that, but why would Santa give you bells? They’re pretty, and I guess you can hang them on the door or the tree.”

“You don’t hang them, babygirl, you wear them.”

“Wear them? How?”

“Well, not wear them exactly, you hold them.”

Noelle shrugged. “Okay, have fun with that.”

She was about to jump off the bed when he reached out and laid his hand on her arm. “Not me, you’ll hold them.” He paused and then reached down and patted her bottom. “In your pretty little bum.”

Her eyes grew huge as she looked at the silver bells. “You can’t be serious!”

“Oh, baby, I assure you I am. Now, drop those pants and panties and climb over my lap.”

“Daddy, I can’t wear those! People will hear them!”

“They’ll be muffled all tucked up inside, but, if you want to be a Grinch—”

“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” she said, sliding off the bed and unfastening her jeans. “The last time you put something up my… um, anyway, it wasn’t very comfortable.”

“That’s because it was punishment,” Davis said. “This is funishment.”

“You are nuts,” she said, but he watched her tug down her clothing and saw the gleam in her eyes.

Into the Fire is Coming Home to Family Perfect

Into the Fire; Compass Boys #2 (Series)
by Mari Carr and Jayne Rylon (Authors)

When the Comptons are known as royalty in Compton Pass it’s hard to escape the legendary status that follows the Compton name. James Compton hates being compared to his father, Seth, yet it’s hard to escape from under his father’s image when he’s surrounded by a multitude of family members day in and day out. He loves his family, but James feels smothered. As much as he hates leaving the ranch James feels the need to make his own mark in the world, and with the right encouragement he finds it  in a career as a smokejumper on the West Yellowstone Squad.

As a smokejumper, James (who goes by Jamie 6 months out of the year) finds a part of himself that he never was able to tap into back on the ranch. Saving lives and making a difference fills a need that satisfies the hunger and settles James like he never was able experience working with horses on a day to day basis. It’s a perfect blend for James, the duality that he needs in his life. Six months out of the year he spends saving lives and six months out of the year he helps his dad raising horses. He has the perfect life and couldn’t ask for anything more, that was until he met Ivy.

Ivy Wagner dreams of being a large animal veterinarian, yet she is currently working in a small animal clinic so she can be close to her father. She is all he has left, well her and his job. He manages the West Yellowstone smokejumpers team, and aside from his favorite employee, Jamie, that he raves about all the time, she is sure he would be lost without her.

Ivy has yet to meet Jamie since she’s been away at school earning her veterinary degree, and he even though he sounds like Superman according to her father’s stories, she has vowed never to date a smokejumper. So surprise to her, when Ivy meets James Compton for the first time, a legend upon his own right living upon a thriving ranch with the very stock of horses she dreams of working on, Ivy’s starstruck fascination doesn’t last long when she discovers that James Compton is the Superhero himself-Jamie.

Ivy sticks firm in her no dating rule no matter how hard James keeps up his front to win her over. He is a Compton after all and completely fascinated with her. Their chemistry is off the charts and the Compton humor is ever present, especially when the Compton boys or entire family gets together. Ivy and James try to keep things casual, while their feelings grow stronger and stronger. How can they continue as friends when they both want so much more, but they both have hurdles in their lives standing in their way making a relationship seem impossible. Will they combust into flames or will they douse the fire?

If you haven’t read the rest of the Compton series I would suggest you do so only because the series is a fantastic, delicious read. I’ve been a Mari Carr and Jayne Rylon fan for years and the Compton family is in my top favorite. You can read Into the Fire as a standalone, but once you do you will want to pick up the rest of the series.

Freeing Jasper is a Good Military Romance

Freeing Jasper; A Black Ops Romance (Series)
by Riley Edwards (Author)

This review is from: November 27, 2017 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)
Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Heat level:🔥🔥🔥

Jasper is part of a black ops team. A team for all purposes that doesn’t exist. As a matter of fact, on the books Jasper was listed as working at the 707 research battalion where he tracked supplies and inventory. When he meets Emily it doesn’t cross her mind that he would do anything else, she believed her late husband and friends when they told her what happened around the army base, so why should she believe anything different, that all changed the day Jasper decided to take over her life.

Jasper tried to stay away from Emily, he really did. He desired her, but it went beyond that. When she looked at him, she seemed to look beyond his drop-dead, sexy surface and actually see him. For the first time a woman looked past his superficial and wasn’t out to just use him. That ramped up Jaspers attraction to Emily tenfold. Unfortunately as much as he wanted her, he wasn’t good for her. Emily has a son and Jasper couldn’t give her what she really needs, a family. However, when Emily’s past comes knocking and danger is waving a gun in her face, Jasper feels his protective instincts kick in and he just can’t stay away.

Emily is torn between the manwhore stories she’s heard about Jasper and the protective man who shows up to save her. Emily already had and lost a husband to the military so she is familiar with protective men, but Jasper is a whole new level she wasn’t prepared for. When Emily finally concedes to him helping her deal with her past mistakes she unwittingly decides not to concede her heart in the process. She has her son to worry about and Jasper could do more damage by her side than he realizes. If only life was easy and hearts were easily mended.

The comradery between the Black Ops men is easy to read without it being too over the top macho. Riley Edwards writes this series with just enough relationship, action, and spice that you will want to read the rest of the series to catch up on the previous relationships and read future books to find out what happens to the rest of the Black Ops.

Mr. All Wrong was Just Right

Mr. All Wrong (Standalone)
by RC Stephens (Author)

This review is from: November 23, 2017 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥🔥

Colton Mathis has been brought up with the knowledge that one day he would be President of the United States or at least that has been his father’s main goal for him for as long as he can remember. Every step he has ever made has been to groom him for office and frankly, Colt is tired of being groomed. Here he is, just a few weeks away from announcing his candidacy and what should be the most exciting thing to happen to him be? Getting a pie thrown in his face.

While at a building dedication Colton is hit in the face with a cream pie. A rational man should be outraged. A rational man would have the woman arrested. A rational man would be ecstatic announcing his candidacy to run for president. Colton is tired of being rational. He has to meet the woman behind the pie and when he does she rocks his world.

Evie Harper leads a rather boring life. She’s a teacher and spends most nights grading papers at home, but after listening to her best friend who is upset over the governor destroying a historical landmark she goes with him to a protest and throws a pie in the governor’s face. That is when her life turns upside down. She never thought throwing a pie would garner the attention of Colton Mathis the way it did. Evie was worried more about getting arrested instead of Colt’s arresting, heated looks thrown her way. As much as she tries to stay away from his advances, she eventually allows Colt in which is her undoing.

As their feelings grow, so do their complications. Colt’s father continues to press him to run for the presidency, while Evie’s doubts plague her over whether she could live in the spotlight. It doesn’t take long to dig up dirt on their family history which could rip apart the frail bond they’ve quickly established. Is their bond enough to keep a former playboy tied to a woman like Evie and is Evie strong enough to stay with a man who lives in the spotlight?

I admit Mr. All Wrong took me a little longer than normal to read. Overall the story was a tad wordy. However, I’d prefer a book be wordy vs. skipping over details or excluding sections of a storyline altogether. This has happened and I’ve been left wondering if I’ve somehow missed reading an entire chapter. So where I appreciate an author not letting the reader make assumptions I will simply state that Mr. All Wrong is still a good story, Evie and Colt have great chemistry, and at the heart it’s a good love story.

Excerpt:

JAMES SAT in the back of the truck, fighting to keep his eyes open. He had foolishly volunteered to ride all the way back to the base in the truck that was towing the heavier equipment. Something he was regretting now. He was weary to the bone and still not quite close enough to his bed. They’d need to unload and unpack the supplies and then he’d spend at least thirty minutes standing under a hot shower, trying to wash off layers of black soot, grime and sweat.

They were still quite a few miles away from the turn off to the base when something caught his eye.

“Wait a minute,” he said to Butch, who was behind the wheel. “Pull over.”

“What’s wrong?” Butch asked.

Ivy’s beat-up truck was parked in the same lot where he’d met her. He was exhausted, worn out beyond belief—and pissed as hell that she’d go off traipsing through the woods by herself.

“Let me out here. I’ll make my own way back.”

Butch was surprised by the request, but didn’t argue. James climbed out and took off toward the trailhead, his aching feet forgotten in his anger.

He didn’t bother to mute his footsteps as he clomped through the woods toward the tree. Despite that, she didn’t seem to hear him approach.

He opened his mouth to blast her for taking such a dangerous risk, but something about her posture stopped him. She was kneeling in front of the tree, her pose looking like that of someone praying. Her head was bowed and as he got closer, he realized she was shaking.

No. Not shaking.

Crying.

“Ivy?” he whispered, anger giving way to terror. Something was wrong. Really fucking wrong.

She didn’t respond, so he repeated her name, louder.

“I can’t do this.” She didn’t turn around, didn’t look in his direction. Her voice was hoarse, low, hard to hear.

“Do what, baby?”

“Wait for you to come home. I’m not strong enough.”

She was turned away from him, still huddled as if by tucking herself into a ball, she could protect herself.

“Look at me, Ivy.”

She shook her head.

“Ivy.”

“I can’t!” she yelled.

He walked over to her slowly, then knelt next to her. He gasped when he caught sight of her bloody hands. “You’re hurt.”

She clenched them together and refused to face him. He didn’t need her to. Just her profile was enough to tear his goddamn guts out. She was wrecked. Completely.

Blog Tour – Spider 🕷

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills comes a
new standalone romance about a flawed hero and the woman he can’t forget.

Spider, a sexy and forbidden new standalone, is available NOW!

“She crossed my path and changed my whole direction.”

Title: Spider
Author: Ilsa Madden-Mills
Publication Date: November 13th, 2017

Blurb:

He calls himself Spider.

I just know him as the sinfully gorgeous guy with eyes of fire that fate places next to me on the airplane.

I didn’t who he really was . . . future rock star . . . my stepbrother.

He kissed me because he thought he’d never see me again. He would.

Everyone warned me about him.

They told me he was careless and ruthless and screwed up.

They said he’d leave me with a hole in my heart.

Maybe I should have listened.

Maybe I should have built a fortress to keep him out.

But I crumbled instead.

They say an unbreakable thread connects those who are destined to meet. If that’s true, then the moment he sat next to me, we were bound together forever.

He just had to figure it out before it’s too late…

Excerpt:

How can one human man be so hot?

Spider sits on my toilet, shirtless, while I dab at his swollen eye. I’m doing my best to keep my eyes averted from the ink on his body, the way his tattoos swirl underneath his jeans, the way his chest is carved from stone.

Of course, I’m the stupid person who suggested he remove his shirt so I could see if he has any bruising on his chest. A cracked or broken rib can cause a lot of pain, and I want to be thorough, that’s all—I swear to baby Jesus.

He grinned at my request and whipped it off—which is the reason I’m now a mess.

There’s hardly any room to breathe with him in my small bathroom.
I wipe at the spot of blood on his cheek as he watches me stoically, never taking his eyes off me, tracking my every movement.

“This will look worse tomorrow,” I murmur, just to ease the tension. I stand between his spread legs, acutely aware of his fresh scent, his pure magnetism. My hands shake and I have to focus to push an image of me straddling him, both of us naked, out of my head. I want to run my tongue over the tattoo on his neck. I want to bite him like an animal while he—

Good grief, Rose, stop the fantasy!

“You’d make a good nurse,” he says softly, his long black lashes fluttering softly against his chiseled cheekbones.

“Doctor of Psychology,” I correct him.

“Your dream?”

“Yes.” Although right now I’m dreaming of him…

“I know that feeling. That’s how music is to me.” His golden-brown eyes watch me as I reach over to the medicine cabinet for more antiseptic and antibacterial cream, my chest perilously close to his face. I swear my nipples are reaching for him.

“Why psychology?”

I nod, pretending like I’m not all discombobulated. “My granny mainly. She loved to read people—literally. She ran a little palm-reading business out of her home before she died. All the old ladies of the neighborhood would come to see her. She’d make them coffee and they’d just…talk. She’d tell them what they needed to hear while I sat on the floor next to her and listened. There wasn’t any magic involved of course.” I laugh. “But…she was incredibly intuitive. She just got people. If someone twitched or looked left or right while they were talking, she’d have a reason for it and she’d tell me all about it after they left.”

“I think I would have loved your granny.” He curls an arm around me, tugging me close until my chest is a hair’s breadth away from his face. I recall our epic kiss on the plane. I feel the pressure of his taut thighs and my breath quickens as desire unfurls inside me.

A hum warms my blood. I want him—desperately.

And it’s entirely foolish.

He’s my stepbrother.

He doesn’t call girls back.

“Why does it seem like I’ve known you forever?” I ask, feeling myself gravitating closer.

He thinks about it, pushing a piece of hair out of my eyes. Cupping my nape, he pulls me in tighter until our noses meet. The back of his hand caresses my cheek and the heat from his touch burns, yet there’s a tautness in the roped muscles of his arms, as if he’s holding himself in check.

“Because I am you,” he says softly. “We’re so much alike, it’s staggering.” He pauses and stares deep into my eyes.

I nod. I can’t think. He’s so close to me, his eyes burning into mine.
He closes his eyes and exhales. “I want you, Rose. You’re intoxicating.”

I suck in a sharp breath, our lips inches apart.

Is he going to kiss me? I want him to.

His eyes open after the silence has gone on too long, a smirk forming around his mouth. “You scared of me, Rose?”

Never.

“I’m scared you’ll rip my heart out.”

He stares at the LOST tattoo on his hand. “I probably will.”

CHECK OUT THE SIZZLING EXCERPT:

“What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?” he asks and presses his nose to mine briefly causing my breath to hitch before he pulls away.

“Your suit reminds me that you are the governor,” I say and I know it sounds weird, but somehow in my head on the last few dates, I tried to convince myself that he was just a regular guy.

He chuckles, and again I wish I knew the sound of his laughter. “I’m still the same guy whether I’m in a suit and tie or a pair of jeans,” he replies. I want to tell him that he looks hot as sin in his suit but something tells me that his ego is inflated enough.

“Isn’t the governor’s mansion in Springfield? Why are you always in Chicago?” I ask, knowing this because I also teach history and the governor’s mansion has been in use since 1855.

“Yes, the governor’s mansion is in Springfield, and I do occupy it in a way, but I hate it there. It’s big and empty. I much prefer my apartment here in the city. Truth is since I met you I’ve been spending more time in Chicago than I have in Springfield,” he says, and his blue eyes blaze as he makes the admission. My chest turns warm and saliva pools in the back of my throat. Fuck! I am so turned on by him.

“Oh,” is the only word I can formulate right now.

He walks toward me at such a slow pace, and I feel like someone has pressed a slow-motion button. I take a large gulp as he closes the distance between us. He pushes a stray strand of hair off my face. “I’ve been thinking about kissing the hell out of you all day,” he says. My knees buckle, at least they feel like they do because the next thing I know his lips are on mine, hot and wanting. He kisses softly at first before his tongue begs entrance into my mouth. His taste is as intoxicating as I remembered. Our lips meshed together in a way that tells me, we fit. This is more than perfect. This kiss is everything.

Cover Reveal – Sex, Not Love

We are thrilled to bring you the next standalone novel from #1 New York Times Bestselling Author, Vi Keeland.

SEX, NOT LOVE will release on January 15th, 2018

Model: Fabian Castro
Photographer: Rafael Catala
Cover designer: Sommer Stein, Perfect Pear Creative

My relationship with Hunter Delucia started backwards.

We met at a wedding—him sitting on the groom’s side, me sitting on the bride’s. Stealing glances at each other throughout the night, there was no denying an intense, mutual attraction.

I caught the bouquet; he caught the garter. Hunter held me tightly while we danced and suggested we explore the chemistry sparking between us. His blunt, dirty mouth should’ve turned me off. But for some crazy reason, it had the opposite effect on me.

We ended up back in my hotel room. The next morning, I headed home to New York leaving him behind in California with the wrong number.

I thought about him often, but after my last relationship, I’d sworn off of charming, cocky, gorgeous-as-sin men. A year later, Hunter and I met again at the birth of our friends’ baby. Our attraction hadn’t dulled one bit. After a whirlwind trip, he demanded a real phone number this time. So I left him with my mother’s—she could scare away any man with her talks of babies and marriage—and flew back home.

I’d thought it was funny, until the following week when he rang the bell at Mom’s house for Sunday night dinner. The crazy, gorgeous man had won over my mother and taken an eight-week assignment in my city. He proposed we spend that time screwing each other out of our systems.

Eight weeks of mind-blowing sex with no strings attached? What did I have to lose?

Nothing, I thought.

It’s just sex, not love.

But you know what they say about the best laid plans…

New Release – His to Corrupt

Landing Page: http://www.avasinclairauthor.com/his-to- corrupt

Blurb:
I’ve always been the shy one among my friends. The responsible one. The good girl.
But that was before I met Jackson Rider, the tattooed, motorcycle-riding ex-con who saved my life and demanded a date with me as payment.
Jackson wants to make a good girl go bad, even if it’s for just one night. But one night isn’t enough. Not for him. Not for me.
I know he’s dangerous. I know he’s corrupting me. I’m just not sure I want him to stop…

Publisher’s Note: His to Corrupt is a stand-alone novel which is the fourth book in the Completely His series.

Excerpt:
“I am a good girl,” I protest, before correcting myself. “A good woman. I’m a decent woman.”
“So…” He leans forward, resting his brawny, tattooed forearms on the table. “You’ve never fantasized about fucking a man. A real man?”
“My fantasies are none of your business,” I say, but I can’t look away from the ice blue eyes boring into mine.
“There’s nothing wrong with fantasies,” he says. “I have them. My favorite is taking a sweet, good girl who’s never let herself go and introducing her to the beauty of her wild sexuality. The rawness of it. The sensations, the smells, the hard pounding that makes her scream. I want to make a good girl go bad, even if it’s just for one night.”
For an ex-con, he has a way with words. My pussy has become so wet that I fear I may soak not just my thin panties but my skirt as well if I don’t end this now.
I stand hurriedly, grabbing my purse. I look away from his face. I can’t want what I don’t see.
He’s wrong for me. Dangerous. Bad. A bad, dangerous man. It’s a rapid, muddled self-preservation stream of consciousness that comes to an abrupt halt when he slowly rises and walks over to me. I’ve picked up my bag and put it over my shoulder, and he slowly takes it off and puts it back on the floor. Then he reaches for my face, cupping it in his large hands.
It feels like the kiss is happening to someone else, like an out of body experience, at least at first.
Then his tongue slips between my lips to sweep around the inside of my mouth, his body presses against mine, and I feel the point of his jutting cock nudge against my midsection, and the ‘no’ I was starting to utter comes out as a moan.

I’m trapped between the colorful tapestry of his arms. His hands move down, lift my skirt. He’s not gentle as he squeezes the soft mounds of my ass, I gasp around the tongue still sweeping through my mouth. He squeezes my ass again, possessively, and hard enough to hurt. My panties can’t contain the rush of wetness resulting from this attention. Even if I wanted to hide my excitement, I couldn’t. Jackson’s hand has slipped between my legs to find my secret. I quiver as his finger brushes my mound, and then turn my head and cry out when his fingers slip into the waistband of my panties and snap it with a tug. The damaged garment slides to the floor, leaving me bare.
“I can smell your pussy.” His mouth is hot against my ear, the frankness of his words making me flush. I fancy I can smell it, too, my own sweet, faint musk. His fingers find my cleft and delve into it, stroking the folds of my inner labia. I arch toward him.
“Don’t…” I say, and he chuckles and backs away, leaving me standing there weaving slightly with my torn panties hobbling my ankles.
He’s taking his shirt off, and now I see the ink isn’t just on his arms. He has a chest plate as well.
His body tells a story I’ve yet to understand, a story in images that I realize must mean something, or why else would he have etched them into his skin?
His chest is a hard, hairless canvas so ridged and toned that it reminds me of painted battle armor. It doesn’t look real, and I clench hands eager to reach out, to touch, to explore. I want to trace the line between the swells of his pectorals, slide my hands across the symmetric patchwork of his achingly perfect abs, trail my fingers down the obliques.
He moves back toward me, reaching for the hem of my shirt, and just like that, I’m suddenly shy and afraid. He’s muscles and ridges. I’m pale softness. His body was made for the gym. Mine was made for the library.
“Wait,” I say. “I’m not…” But he’s not listening.
“I want you. I want to see you.” It’s a king’s command, and I’m the princess he’d ravish as I raise my arms, acquiescent to what I can’t control. My shirt is off, and he reaches behind me to unsnap my bra. He’s looking at my breasts as he puts his hands on my shoulders and runs them down my arms.
“So sweet,” he says, and I’m not sure what he means, and there’s no time to process it as he kneels and slips my skirt off. I’m wearing just my low, practical heels now as I stand there looking down at the top of his head. Jackson Rider is on one knee, like a man about to propose.
But what he’s proposing is my moral ruination, and I’d say yes if he asked me formally, because he’s eyeing my pussy and I’m wanting what happens next, even though I know it’s going to wreck me.

High school sweethearts. What a load of bull.

He might have been my first love, but it never meant I wanted to hear lyrics containing my name, love story, and *cringe* how I lost my virginity peddled out for the masses to digest.

Seven years later, and I’m still being haunted by his photo in every magazine, his music on every radio station. I thought breakups meant that you never had to see the person again. Especially when they ripped out your heart and made hamburger meat with it.

But when a chance encounter ends up going viral, I’m tied to him in a way I’ve always dreaded.
And the last person on earth I’d want to spend an hour with, much less a lifetime, makes me an offer I can’t refuse. I might just be desperate enough to take it

BLURB:

Simon

The only thing that stands in the way of my revenge is her.

The lying scheming daughter of the man who killed my parents. She has the secrets I need to bring down her father.

And I’ll do anything to get them. I will lie to her. Steal from her. Use her.
Ruin her.

It helps that our chemistry is explosive.

What I’m not expecting is for her to be so sweet. And so strong.

So…irresistible.

Penny

After so many years of lying and hiding, I finally have a place to call home. With people I can call a family. The Paintbrush Inn is my life now, and I won’t let anyone ruin it.

When sexy and world-weary Simon checks in to the Inn, I never expect him to glance my way. I’ve spent my whole life blending into the background. Being overlooked and ignored. It’s been helpful, even though it’s lonely. And he’s way out of my league.

But our attraction is powerful. Undeniable.

Dangerous.

Because I can’t let anyone close. If the secrets I keep were to be revealed, my whole life would be destroyed.  But something about Simon makes me break all my own rules. I’m letting him in to my home, my body, my life, never expecting he has his own secrets.

His own lies.

When the truth comes out, we’ll both be ruined.

EXCERPT:

I pull her off the wall and turn my body, so my back is to the corner if anyone comes around they’ll only see black shadow, or me. Not her. I spin her in my arms, my strength and my size making it easy. Her back is against my chest. My dick, pressed uselessly against her spine. I spread my hands wide against her stomach and her head rests against my shoulder.

She’s tense, but she’s not leaving.

“Do you want to come?” I breathe into her ear.

“Oh, my God,” she whispers, her knees buckling.

“Tell me, Penny.”

“I have to…go. They’re calling me.”

“Do. You. Want. To. Come?”

She pulls in a breath. Holds it. Holds it forever and I realize I’m holding my breath, too.

“Yes.” She says on a soft, sweet exhale, her body relaxing against mine. The perfect curve of her ass resting against me. “I want to come.”

“Will you let me…?” My fingertips pop open the button of her jeans, slide down the zipper. I see the slice of her belly in the shadows. No tattoos there. I ease my fingertips under the elastic band at the top of her underwear. I wait for her consent and get it in spades when she puts her hand over mine and pushes me between her legs.

She is hot and damp. And her hand stays over mine as I stroke through her thick folds finding the hard knot of her clit.

“Hard,” she breathes into the night air. “Fast.”

And that’s what I give her.

Spider 🕷 – Will Melt Your Heart

Spider (Standalone)
by Ilsa Madden-Mills (Author)
This review is from: November 11, 2017 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)

Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥

Is destiny written in the stars? Are we fated to meet the people closest in our lives or is everything just chance?

At age eleven Rose met a teenage Spider for the very first time, although neither one introduces themselves by name given the circumstances under which they meet. Six years go by and once more the two meet, thrust together by fate on a flight to Dallas.

Rose, a high school senior, is flying home to see her mother. Spider, an up and coming rock star, is flying home to see his father. The two feel an instant pull towards the other, but do not recognize the other from their chance encounter from years before.

During the flight the chemistry between them is undeniable. Rose knows she shouldn’t get involved, yet can’t seem to help herself. Spider knows he’s not the kind of man to ever make a commitment and right away he knows Rose deserves better than him, yet he can’t help drawing her in. Before the flight ends Spider shows his true colors by fooling around with the flight attendant right after kissing Rose. As much as Rose wants to hate Spider she can’t. His loneliness impacted her, but she didn’t let it bother her for long as she disembarked the plane. As she went in search of her mother, who was recently married, she recognized the “sex on a stick” man talking to her new step-dad.

Fate couldn’t be that crappy could it?

Happy after wedding surprise! Spider and Rose are new step-siblings. Whoa.

Destiny has quite a bit in store for Rose and Spider as their lives interweave throughout the next several years. Hurt, heartache, passion, and needs all conglomerate into a tangled web. Can it be untangled in time to lead them back to the beginning? Can it lead Rose and Spider back to love?

Only the stars know for sure.

I’ve personally known couples who’ve been together, then broken apart, then somehow managed to find one another and are happily living their ever after. I’ve also known others who were childhood friends, dated as teens, fell out of touch then didn’t find one another again until old age, yet somehow they felt that destiny brought them back together.

I love to believe that destiny has a plan for all of us and there is an invisible string binding us to those we love so we never lose them. Only the stars can see those strings for it is never dark in the heavens so they light the way to our one true love and if they are ever lost the stars guide them back home.

Spider and Rose’s story is a nonstop, can’t put it down, excellent read that will melt your heart.

Spider releases soon, keep watch for upcoming release information. Add to GoodReads: http://bit.ly/2zcQDni

As the lead songwriter for Jacob’s Ladder, the last thing Gabe Renard needs is a debilitating case of writer’s block. After years of meaningless one night stands, he’s finding it hard to pen the love-filled ballads the label is requesting. In an effort to clear his mind, Gabe takes his jeep off-roading in the North Georgia Mountains. When a wrong-turn leads to him getting stuck more than just creatively, he’s forced to call for help. To his surprise, the “Ray” who has been sent by Hart Wreckers to his aid is actually “Rae”–a sexy-as-hell spitfire in a pair of tight-as-hell jeans. The combination of Rae’s sassy mouth and rocking body might be the inspiration Gabe needs. But for the first time since becoming a rock star, his advances have been shot down.

Reagan Hart has never been a fan of musicians. In fact, just the mention of one might cause her to throw a tire tool. Her disgust for them started when she was just eight and her mother ran off with a traveling country singer, and it only worsened when at seventeen, her rocker boyfriend knocked her up before blowing out of town. As a single mother taking care of her family’s collision business, Rae doesn’t have time for hook ups, much less a relationship. And if she did make time, a musician would be last on her list, even one as good-looking as Gabe Renard.

Can Gabe find the words to prove not only to Rae, but himself, that she’s the only one for him?

EXCERPT:

My tirade was interrupted by my phone ringing. It was Eli.

“Hey man, are you alive?” he questioned.

“Yes, I am.”

“Are you just saying that because the Deliverance people who kidnapped you are forcing you to say that? Cough once into the phone if you’re not okay.”

Rolling my eyes, I laughed in spite of myself. “I have not been abducted by any Deliverance people. I am here in Hayesville of my own volition.”

“Yes, it’s your volition that’s questionable. I mean, you said yourself they don’t even have a Starbucks. What could you possibly still be doing there?”

“Actually, I’m here writing.”

Eli sucked in a breath. “Holy shit. You are?”

When I’d called him the day before, I hadn’t told him anything about Rae or songwriting. Since everything had still been up in the air with her, I’d just told him I was just staying in Hayesville to get away. “Yeah, man. I’ve gotten two songs done already.”

“I’m so fucking proud of you.”

“Thanks. I’m not gonna lie, it sure feels good to be putting words on paper. They’re good words, too, and you know I wouldn’t just say that.”

“I sure do. You are your own worst critic. When were you planning on sharing them with me and Abs?”

“Are you still at Jake and Abby’s?”

“No. I came back to Atlanta the day you left.”

“As soon as I get back to the hotel, I’ll Google Hangout with you guys and play what I have.” At the familiar tingle running up my spine, I said, “Strike that. I think I’m feeling something new coming on.”

“Seriously?”

“Yeah. I’m not too surprised considering I was just with–” I abruptly cut myself off. For reasons I didn’t understand, I didn’t feel ready to tell Eli about Rae.

“You were just with who?”

“Nobody. Forget it.”

“Look, if you’ve fallen in love with some hillbilly woman named Earlene, it’s okay. You don’t have to be ashamed.”

I laughed. “Considering I’ve only been gone for forty-eight hours, I’m not quite sure how I could have fallen in love with a hillbilly.”

“You never know–they move fast.”

“How the hell would you know? Past experience?”

“Just an observation.”

“Whatever.” A knock came on the Jeep’s window, causing my phone to fly out of my hand and onto the passenger seat. When I glanced over, Rae was grinning at me. After I rolled down the window, I said, “Hey.”

“Hey. Listen, I was thinking instead of coming over here, you should just come to the shop to pick me and Linc up. Dad lives closer to the shop than here.”

“Okay. I’ll see you at the shop.”

She smiled. “Okay.” Jerking her chin, she added, “Now get the hell out of here so I can go to work.”

“I’m on it.”

After she waved and headed back to her car, I leaned over and picked up my phone. I knew there wasn’t a chance in hell that Eli had hung up. The minute he heard a female voice, he would be hanging on to every word he possibly could. “Hey. I’m back.”

“Was that Earlene?” he asked teasingly as I cranked the Jeep up.

“No, smartass. Her name is Rae.”

“Sounds like you guys are having dinner tonight.”

“We are, at her father’s house,” I replied as I backed out of Rae’s driveway.

“Mmhmm.”

I laughed. “Like that’s all you have to say. I mean, don’t hurt yourself holding back.”

“It’s just that you said it would be impossible to have fallen in love with a hillbilly girl in two days, yet here you are having dinner with a woman. Not only that, you’re having dinner with her family. Do we need Selma to prepare a press release on your impending nuptials?”

“Har fucking har.”

“Hey, you told me not to hold back. I mean, you’re already eating dinner with her parents–what am I supposed to think?”

“It’s not like that with Rae.”

“Then enlighten me.”

I sucked in a deep breath before unloading the soap opera of what had transpired.

“Holy shit,” Eli remarked when I finished.

“Yeah. Pretty much.”

“I can’t believe you found your muse in the backwoods.”

“It surprised the hell out of me as well, but I’m not going to question it.”

“I wouldn’t either.” After pausing for a moment, Eli asked, “So she’s beautiful, huh?”

“Gorgeous, but not like the fake women I usually go after. She’s real.”

“She’s real or her tits are real?”

Groaning, I replied, “Once again, it’s not like that with her.”

“It’s not like that because she won’t let it be like that,” Eli countered, amusement vibrating in his voice. It was times like these I lamented having a twin brother who knew exactly how my brain worked.

“Yeah, it’s true that she shot me down, but I’m glad she did.”

“Seriously?”

“If we had fucked, who knows what would have happened to my songwriting mojo? I might still be blocked.”

“That’s one way to look at it, and a very mature way, I might add.”

I snickered. “I’m not sure I would trust your judgment on what’s mature.”

Eli laughed. “Whatever. So you really think you have another song brewing?”

“Yep. I’m pulling into the hotel now. Just as soon as I can get to my pen and journal, I’m at it again. Once I get to a stopping point, I’ll text you about doing a Google Hangout with Abby.”

“Sounds good. I’ll call her and let her know what’s going on.”

“Thanks, man. I probably need to text Jake and tell him I’ll be commandeering his Jeep for a little while longer.”

“I don’t think he’ll mind, especially if you’re finally getting the words you need. When do you think you’ll be back?”

“I’m not leaving here until I have enough to fill the album–or until my mojo runs out.”

“I’ll be interested to see what you come up with, but more than the songs, I’m interested to see how things pan out with Rae.”

“You mean you’ll be interested to see if we finally bang.”

“Actually, I was thinking more long-term than that.” Really, Eli?

“Like a relationship?”

“Bingo.”

“Get real, bro.”

“You’re the one who needs to get real, not me.”

“It’s not happening.”

“We’ll see.”

Scowling at the phone, I replied, “If you don’t have anything else to do but give me shit about Rae, I’ll let you go. Unlike someone else I know, I have work to do.”

Eli chuckled. “Whatever, man. Call me when you’re done penning our next CMA winner.”

“I don’t know about that, but I’ll let you know when the next song is done.

“You do that–oh, and tell Rae hello for me.”

“I will.”

“And thanks for putting up with my knuckleheaded brother.”

I laughed. “Goodbye, Eli.”

“Bye, Gabe.”

BLURB:

The first time I met Evie Harper, she threw a cream pie at my face. I actually hadn’t met her, just saw her. It was more like she hated everything I stood for and showed me her opinion with an airborne cream pie. Yes, she smacked me front and center on my face. The second time I saw Evie, I didn’t realize she was the cream-pie-throwing bandit, and she took my breath away in a flowing red gown at a gala. Of course I couldn’t resist her looks, so I asked her to dance. She called me a schmuck and stalked off.

My own Cinderella ran away from me. I shouldn’t have chased her down. We were all wrong for each other. But her fire red hair and feisty personality reeled me in, and I was hooked. Chicago’s most renowned playboy was finally falling head over loafers. At least it felt that way because she was like no other woman I’d met before . . . Evie was special . . .

Problem was I had trust issues when it came to women. Freud would’ve probably said it was my mother’s doing. Somehow Evie made me believe in her . . . trust her . . .

Big damn mistake!

One I hope I won’t live to regret . . .
But then again how could someone so wrong for me turn out to be so damn perfect?

Jacob’s Ladder

Jacob’s Ladder: Gabe; Jacob’s Ladder #1 (Series)
by Katie Ashley (Author)

This review is from: November 6, 2017 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥

Gabe Renard has serious writer’s block. As the songwriter for his band, Jacob’s Ladder, that is a major problem when all of his band mates, who also happen to be his siblings, are relying on him to crank out another record so they can begin recording. Heading into the mountains so Gabe can clear his head, he gets stuck, literally in the mud. When a beautiful woman turns up named Rae vs the man he was expecting named Ray, Gabe’s well of inspiration is suddenly wet again. He doesn’t question why it happened, but he feels that Rae was the muse that sparked it. Desperate to keep the juices flowing he pulls out all the stops to stay close to her. His family is counting on a hit record. Rae may be the answer they all need.

Reagan “Rae” Hart is her own business woman and single mom. She is not a fan of rock stars or really any kind of musician. Her son’s father skipped town shortly after he found out she was pregnant hoping to make a name for himself in Nashville. He’s never once met his son, leaving Rae a bitter taste for music stars. Upon meeting Gabe Rae is not impressed with his advances, getting his first impression off on her bad side. Gabe works hard to get back in Rae’s good graces, but she doesn’t make it easy, even with his stunning good looks. She’s been there, done that, and has the son to show for it.

Can Gabe and Rae find a way to make things work?

Upon reading Jacob’s Ladder; Gabe, I found I wanted more. More depth with both characters and more meaning behind their words. So I suppose a better description is I was looking for character development since everything seemed shallow.
I wanted to know why Gabe was tormented with writer’s block. I was told he had it by author, but I didn’t feel it in every waking breath that Gabe took. I was also told that he’d had numerous affairs, but I didn’t see it affecting his current mentality aside from the writer’s block, it never came up again where in some stories when this is part of the blurb a former fling will surface at some point. I also didn’t feel the shame he now carried wondering if perhaps this was the reason he now couldn’t write.
So, while I enjoyed the top layer of a typical love story that a boy meets a girl and they eventually fall for one another with a few road hazards in the way of course. Jacob’s Ladder; Gabe could have given a lot more when it came to feelings and overall development.

LeVan

She was mine before I ever laid eyes on her.
It took an instant to know we were meant to be.
She wanted an escape and my arms were wide open.
She endured a life of pain. I could give her solace.
She saw baggage. I saw hope and connection.
But most of all, to her, I was forbidden.
I wanted her more because of it.

And just when I thought I had her, we were ripped apart.
One innocent act to escape forced our families onto a collision course.
I was fooled into believing she could risk everything for me.
Her hands were tied.
She was more of a prisoner than I’d even thought possible.
She was just out of reach.
And watching, waiting and wishing wouldn’t bring her back to me.
But people like us never got lifetimes of happiness.
Moments, maybe.

We didn’t get fairy tale endings.
Our love story was destined to end in tragedy.

He Loves Me…Knot, Yet I Loved This Book

He Loves Me…Knot (Standalone)
by RC Boldt (Author)

This review is from: November 2, 2017 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)
Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥🔥

He Loves Me…Knot is a second chance love story that had all the right ingredients. Not only did it keep me engaged the entire story, leaving me to wonder what happened to the couple who still had not only heat and chemistry between them, but unresolved feelings. I had to find out the answer of what happened between Knox and Emma Jane.

I have been happily married, for over twenty-two years, to my own second chance love. I understand the trust it takes to open your heart again to the one who hurt you.  When I read a good love story that involves the emotions of went wrong in the original relationship and should you open up again to someone who basically crushed your soul it always rips a bandaid off my old feelings that should have been covered long ago.

He Loves Me…Knot is very well written. It drew me in and made me feel not only the love that Knox and Emma Jane felt at the beginning of their relationship, but also the pain when they meet up again years later. I was reminiscing both good and bad, which I always remind myself, the bad brought the good because here I am twenty-two years later still married to the love of my life.

“One part vividly recalls Knox’s betrayal and the pain he inflicted, while the other recalls just how much I loved him.”

Knox Montgomery and Emma Jane Haywood seemed to be meant to be, that was until Emma Jane walked away from her wedding day. Not only did she walk away from her wedding, she walked away from her life. Disowned from her family, fired from her job, and with no home to go back to, she made a new life thanks to the new NFL friend she found, in all places a gay bar on her disastrous wedding day. Eight years later she has her life on track, her best friend by her side, and her career is great, that is until her past comes knocking. Literally on her workplace door.

“The thing about encountering someone from your past, someone you were never able to get closure from, is when you see them, there’s always this tiny ache in the center of your chest.”

Knox Montgomery has waited eight years for an explanation. Eight years to see her in person. Eight years for retribution. Eight years for closure. Knox is the current owner of F&F magazine, the owner of the magazine where Emma Jane works. He doesn’t give an inch where her work is concerned, expecting perfection and then some. With her heavy workload, and unforeseen circumstances, Knox finally steps in and offers a hand, hoping to keep work and feelings separate. Unsure if her relationship with NFL quarterback Becket Jones is more than just friends or even if he is the reason they didn’t work out eight years ago, these are the burning questions that keep Knox up at night. But how long can Knox and Emma Jane work together before old feelings resurface or the skeletons in their closets come crashing out?

He Loves Me…Knot is a wonderful second chance love story that is beautifully crafted and will leave you wondering what happened to this couple until the very end.

AUTHOR INFORMATION:

Molly O’Keefe has always known she wanted to be a writer (except when she wanted to be a florist or a chef and the brief period of time when she considered being a cowgirl). And once she got her hands on some romances, she knew exactly what she wanted to write.

She published her first Harlequin romance at age 25 and hasn’t looked back. She loves exploring every character’s road towards happily ever after.

Originally from a small town outside of Chicago, she went to university in St. Louis where she met and fell in love with the editor of her school newspaper. They followed each other around the world for several years and finally got married and settled down in Toronto, Ontario. They welcomed their son into their family in 2006, and their daughter in 2008. When she’s not at the park or cleaning up the toy room, Molly is working hard on her next novel, trying to exercise, stalking Tina Fey on the internet and dreaming of the day she can finish a cup of coffee without interruption.

Blurb:
The highly anticipated sequel to Adopting Katie is here!
Widowed mother Katelyn Summers, knows her husband would have wanted her to move on and find happiness for herself and a father for their infant son. Knowing that doesn’t make doing it any easier, and she is spiraling fast as she struggles with balancing her new normal with her old wants and needs.

Jeff has always been a natural leader, controlling all aspects of his life with a confidence that rivals no other. When a failed marriage crumbles that confidence, he leaves his entire world behind and loses himself in his work. Nothing can bring him home, until he meets her.

Can these two help each other move on from their painful pasts and into their happily ever after together? How does Katie’s unique family fit into the mix? Can you really have your cake and eat it too?

Excerpts:
1. “I love you, Jeff,” she whispered before a yawn took her breath away.
“I love you, too, sweetheart. It’s been a long day. Why don’t we go get you in bed?”
“Will you cuddle me?” she begged.
“Nothing sounds more appealing in this moment.” Never letting go of her hand, he took her back into the other room and pulled back the covers. He helped her climb into bed following close behind. Katie waited for him to lie down before snuggling as close as she could. His arm wrapped around her middle and he pulled her in tight. “Thank you for showing me your room.”
“You’re welcome. It was fun, but are you sure you want me?”
“I could not want anyone more than I want you. All of you. I love you so much, sweetheart. Now, let’s get some rest. We can talk more in the morning.”
“Okay.” She closed her eyes, and sleep took her away.

2. “I would give my life to make sure that look of pain never graces your precious face ever again, you know that?”
Her head dropped and she sighed. “I don’t know what to do,” she confessed.
“Sweetheart, look at me, please.” He kept his voice level and calm. She lifted her eyes to his without moving her chin from her chest. He smiled at her strong will. She wanted to listen to him, but she was probably scared. He was about to change that, forever. “I love you and Noah. You two have become my life, and I would do anything for you. Do you understand what I am saying?”
“Yes, but…”
“No, I don’t think you do understand.” He spoke sharply, sitting up straight and pulling her into his lap. “Let me spell it out for you. I am a detective, but being a detective is not my life. You are my life. You and that little dude who already has me wrapped around his pudgy spit-soaked thumb. If my job gets in the way of my happiness, then that simply means it is time for me to move on. I buried myself in work for survival, but I also moved away from my family and lost some years I will never get back. I won’t make the same mistake again.”
“You can’t quit your job.” Katie rolled her eyes and shook her head. It was obvious she didn’t have a clue how serious he was.
“I can’t lose you.”
“I could never ask you to switch careers.”
“I could never let you leave because of it.”
His answers were quick and automatic. There should be no doubt in her mind of his intentions after this conversation.

3. “You aren’t being rational. I’m not worth all this.”
“Excuse me?” She was making it hard for him to fight the urge to turn her over his knee right then and there. If it wouldn’t have been their first time, he would have.
“You heard me. I’m not worth it.”
“I will be the judge of that, young lady, and before you say another word, let me warn you right now, you have already earned a spanking from me tonight. I would choose your words wisely.”
Her eyes went wide at the mention of getting spanked. They had joked about it before and talked about it at length, but it had never come to fruition. He needed her to understand his love was true, and running from him was never the way to solve an issue. “No one tells me what my woman is worth because there is no way to measure. You are not worth your weight in gold because you surpass that exponentially. You are worth more to me than any job, Katelyn. If that is a deal breaker, then get it out of your head because I will quit tomorrow.”

About Allysa Hart
I am a full-time mom to a sassy, strong-willed, loveable little girl. Okay, so she is all me. I am on the wrong side of 30, and I have been married to my best friend for over eight years. Like most couples, we have our ups and downs, but I could not imagine doing life with anyone else by my side. We are Southern California transplants, currently residing in a very rural part of the east coast. I have two crazy dogs that I adore, even though they drive me out of my ever-loving mind, most days.
I have recently rediscovered my love of words and decided to become a writer. My first story is my heart and soul, and it reaches into the depths of all that is me. I also create covers, promos, and logos for authors. I have met some amazing friends on this journey that I now happily call family. Without my family members, whether biological or chosen, I would not be half the person I am today. Their constant love and support keep me afloat.
