Blurb:

Bo Alexander has his hands full as temporary alpha of his little clan in Bear Paw River.

But then she shows up.

A gorgeous, curvy—human—single mother with a shifter son in tow. Between the kid’s bodily function jokes and the mating heat sizzling from Jane, Bo doesn’t know which way is up. But he knows she’s hiding something. And he’s just the man to help her.

A grizzly and a human that would never work, right?

Jane has been running with Liam for too long now.  She’s exhausted, scared, waiting for the day Seth finds her and drags them back to his pack.  But Bear Paw River promises sanctuary…and love? No, she doesn’t have the freedom to open her heart. Besides, love is deadly.

It’s time for Bo to bear-up and save this woman and cub. But can he let her go when the danger has passed? Humans and grizzly shifters aren’t meant to be. Right?

Then again, crazier things have happened. Look at his sister. She married a wolf.

The big bear of a man made Jane feel safer than she had in years…

Excerpt 1

Bo filled the other spoon with stew, blew on it to make sure it was cool enough to eat—he wasn’t taking any chances on hurting his mate—and then tilted it toward her. When she closed her lips around the metal, he groaned. Her mouth was as perfect and sensuous as the rest of her. Her pink tongue darted out to lick a dribble of soup.

“What do you think?”

“Hmm.” He laid the spoon on the counter and picked up his wine. “A bit hot. Try this.” He brought his glass of wine up to her lips, loving the way her throat moved when she swallowed. He sipped and met her gaze with a grin. “Too cold. Sorry, I shouldn’t have put it in the fridge first, I don’t know much ab—”

Her lips covered his, interrupting him, and he returned her fevered kiss. He couldn’t get enough of savoring her taste, as he darted his tongue into her mouth, exploring every inch of her. When they finally stopped to catch their breath, her eyes glowed with heat and passion, and her lips were full and pouty, wet from his kisses.

“Was that better, big guy?” She still sounded breathless as she grinned up at him.

“It was just right. Are you still hungry, Goldie?”

She nodded and pressed her body against him and ran her fingers up his chest and kissed him hard. “Famished.”

Excerpt 2

“What’s up, little man?”

Liam leaned in closer. “I have a secret. It’s special.”

“I love special secrets.”

Liam pressed his nose against Bo’s, and Bo held very still. Liam wiggled his nose back and forth against Bo’s. “Nose kisses, nose kisses. I love you.” He tapped his nose against the tip of Bo’s nose. “Bonk. You also do cheeks and boops, but I’m not sure you’re ready for the extra boops.”

Jane’s breath stopped in her chest. Please let the big man not screw this up, or her son would be devastated.

Bo nodded. “Can I try it and make sure I get it right?”

Liam held very still while Bo ran the tip of his nose back and forth against Liam’s.

“Nose kisses, nose kisses. I love you.” He tapped Liam on the nose. “Bonk. But no boops or cheeks, yet. Right?”

“You got it. Thanks for all the fun. See you tomorrow!” Liam hugged him tightly around his neck and came running back to her, his eyes full of light.

Tears blurred her vision, and she mouthed thank-you to the man who had just stolen her kid’s heart. And hers.

Bo grinned at her, and she couldn’t stop the flush that crept over her body. She had it bad for this bear. Real bad.

Excerpt 3

He topped her left, and she topped his right, a fun exercise that reminded him of that old pat your stomach and rub your head game. Or was that backward? He couldn’t think straight around this woman. Her whole body shook with her laughter as they tried and missed each and every time. But he loved it. The game ended with a loud buzz, but all he heard was her fast breaths. Bo turned her around, breathless at the vision of beauty in front of him. Your eyes are like the purest air on a snow-capped mountain. Your lips the radiant red of the ripest strawberry. Your hair, gold spun from the finest threads. He opened his mouth to tell her all of it, to tell her he would do anything to make her his. “You’ve got a huge mountain and golden berries.”

Her eyes widened. She glanced down at her breasts, looked back up at him and howled with laughter.

“I want to get to know every inch of your luscious body.”

EXCERPT:

Whistler

I would never forget the first fatality I had while on the job. It was staple gunned into my mind – plaguing me, haunting me. I watched as the life of a mother was snuffed out, feeling her last breath escape her lips in the freezing rain in the middle of the road.

Early evening, in terrible weather with black ice covering the asphalt, my partner and I got the call. I had been on the job for only a few months – needless to say I was not prepared for what we were about to encounter. I was a young buck, fearless, ready to be the big bad hero – swoop in and save the damsel in distress. What a fucking joke that idea was. Up until that point, the worst that I had dealt with was a drug bust gone wrong were a UC was shot in the shoulder by a kingpin. That was child’s play compared to what I was about to witness.

With lights flashing, my partner pushed the engine of our squad car to her limits – flying down the road to the intersection. It only took minutes and we were on the scene. Off in the distance, the wailing of horns and blaring of sirens signaled that the ambulance and firetruck were already in route to our aid. We were the first to arrive out of all responding units and I wished that that hadn’t been the case.

The scene was what you’d expect from a damn movie. An eighteen-wheeler was jackknifed, slid off onto the shoulder with a four door Sedan plastered to its grill like a damn bug stuck in the grate. The entire driver’s side of the car was smashed in, the horn was blaring, the windshield was blown out. The driver had been expelled from the car, the passenger’s head was a bloody mess on the side window. Neither were moving. The truck driver wailed in agony as he frantically tried to open the cab’s door.

“Sir! Try to remain calm!” My parented was a senior officer, he knew what he was doing. He sprang into action as I froze in my seat Get the woman!” Todd screamed at me as he flew out of the driver’s seat. “I’ll try to get the girl out of the car.”

I rushed to the lady that was sprawled out on the frozen pavement, her limbs thrown about as she lay on her back, gasping for air.

Looking down into her pleading eyes, I tried to figure out what to say. But, what do you say when you know that someone is fighting for their life? How the fuck are you supposed to comfort a stranger when they are dying right in front of you?

“Ma’am. Can you tell me your name?” I asked trying to assess her injuries.

“My daughter!” She cried, “Help Myla!”

“My partner is with her. He’s got her. What’s your name? Can you tell me your name?”

She started to gurgle as blood poured from her lips. Her skin drained of color. Her body shook. Her eyes got wide. I pulled her mangled, bloody body into my arms, rocking her while trying to comfort her last moments on this earth.

“You’re going to be all right. The paramedics are on their way. You’re going to be all right.” I repeated it over and over until the EMTs were rushing to my aid. They were too late. She had slipped between the cracks.

In pouring down, freezing rain, I felt her last breath leave her lungs. I watched as she blinked for the last time. I held her as she cried for us to save her daughter. In her last seconds, she was completely selfless. Her love for her daughter was at the forefront of her mind. That is true love. Right there, I learned what true love looked like in its final moments.
