Breathe; Rosewood Bay #2 (Series)
by Carly Phillips (Author)
This review is from: April 12, 2018 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)
A standalone novel within the Rosewood series, Phoebe Ward had her life together after a troubled childhood upbringing. A child raised in foster care due to an absent father and a mother on drugs and when you add in a teenage pregnancy Phoebe would hardly be recognizable from a girl on paper to the successful woman she’s become eleven years later. Aside from living with the regret that she never found Jamie’s father, Jake-who stole her heart eleven years ago she was able to tell him he was a father, she wouldn’t take back becoming a mom for anything. Jamie is her world and she adores her son.
When Phoebe walks into a job site, her biggest one to date, she never imagined seeing the boy, now a man, standing before her. How does she begin to tell him he’s a father? Where does she even begin?
Jake Nichols was a troubled teen. spending time in foster homes and eventually prison, he eventually turned his life around. Working as a contractor gave him skills and a life he’s proud of. What he never imagined was that it would lead to the girl, now a beautiful woman, the only girl he’s ever really loved. Seeing it as a sign he jumps at the chance to win her back. He knows he’s made mistakes, but he’s willing to prove to her that they belong together.
Phoebe is skittish and filled with reservation. Jake is willing to break down those walls to earn back her trust. Whatever it takes to get back what they’ve lost. Fate wouldn’t be so cruel to have them find each other again and not give them the happy ending they both deserve.
Can they erase all the years of hurt and loss to get to the happily ever after they both dreamed of?
Breathe is sweet and real, yet also passionate and loving. An easy read that was hard to put down. It is part of a series, but easily a standalone if you hadn’t read the first book. There will also be a third book in the series as well, so if you do enjoy a good read this is a good summer series to pick up and enjoy.
