(Daimen’s POV)
I woke suddenly to Arden’s touch. “I need you so fucking much, right now, honey.”

Arden’s grin told me exactly what he wanted—pure fucking. I took him by the hand and led him to the couch that was in our room close to the foot of the bed. “Thank fuck! I told you I wanted to partake in a little bit of voyeurism.”

“You’re a dirty man, you know, and I can’t get enough of you.” Arden grinned. I took the lube next to the end table by our couch. “You’re my life, Daimen. It’ll always be you and me,” he said, holding my face. “And when Elliot is ours, my love for you won’t change, but seeing you the way you were with her tonight will make me love you more—kind and sweet and so not like the hardass I fell in love with.”

“Oh, you’re a sweet-talker, aren’t you?” I goaded, pushing his body against the couch. With one thrust, his moan elicited a desire to go deeper and explore every part of him. “You feel so good. Fuck.” My movements increased, but I had to let loose—it was going to be one of those nights between us. Circling one hand around him, I stroked his cock fast. My teeth sank into his skin, a little love bite that caused him to grow against my touch. Arden loved it rough like that.

“Mark me, bite me, hurt me—I’m yours.” The sound of rustling sheets had Arden whipping his head back. “Um, babe, I think we have company,” he interjected, his eyes, following the shadow behind us.

With the thought of Ell watching me, it took me no time to find the sweet spot in my man. With one last thrust, I came so hard, and it set off Arden too. With both of us working through our orgasms, I brought Arden with me as I turned to Ell. “Beautiful, you okay?” I asked, casually, in the hopes that we didn’t send her running for the hills. “Ell, I hope we didn’t scare you.”

“You guys are beautiful making love to one another,” she simply stated. “You love each other so much, that’s obvious, but seeing it like this, wow.”

Bringing Arden into an embrace one last time and kissing him on his neck, I let go of him, closing the space between Ell and myself. Holding her close to my naked body, I asked, “It didn’t freak you out?”

“You crossed a crowded bar to seek me out.”
Her smile faded. “To ask you about an interview.”
Shane didn’t reply, and after an awkward beat of silence, Ella dropped her gaze to the toe of her boot. A utilitarian boot, unlike the fancy boots most of the women inside the bar wore. Utilitarian, but somehow sexy on her. She looked up at him again, her expression was solemn.
“That’s a lie.”
“Is it now?” He was surprised at the admission. He’d thought he’d have to work harder.
“A lie and an easy way out.”
He took a chance and reached out to lightly touch her upper arm. She didn’t move away, so he allowed his fingers to slide down to her elbow, where they stayed, keeping a point of contact between them. “Easy way out of what?”
She hesitated, then lifted her chin in a get-down-to-business expression that made him believe she’d decided to say exactly what was on her mind. “Getting answers to a burning question.”
“Which is?”
Ella canted her head to one side and studied him in a way that made him feel borderline self-conscious—and he rarely felt self-conscious. Her eyebrows lifted a fraction of an inch, then she said in a musing, almost clinical tone, “What it is about you that draws my eye.”
Her candid answer made him smile. Was this what it was like to flirt with a scientist? If so, he liked it.
He stroked his thumb over the firm muscle of her arm and she eased half a step closer. Close enough that a light floral scent teased his nostrils. Now he took half a step closer and slid his free hand up her other arm, bringing their faces that much closer, but Ella didn’t so much as lean back. If anything, she leaned toward him.
His heart was beating a steady rhythm of anticipation as she continued to study him. “I’m not going to kiss you,” she murmured.
Now he smiled for real. “What makes you think you’ll get a chance?”
Ella shrugged, her arm moving beneath his palm. “Analysis of the data. Dilated pupils, change of breathing pattern. If I put my hand on your chest, your heart would be beating harder.”
“Or so you hypothesize.” Thank you, Mrs. Anderson for hammering the scientific method into me in seventh grade.
She put her palm on his chest, dead center, and spread her fingers as she closed her eyes. Shane wondered if she felt the skip in his heartbeat when she made contact. “My hypothesis is correct.”
Her lips parted ever so slightly and that was all the invitation Shane needed. He brought his mouth down close to hers, his grip tightening at her elbows, although he made no move to pull her closer. “I think you should kiss me,” he whispered against her lips. He felt her lean toward him.

Shayna sat nearly plastered against Billy’s side, because the restaurant had squeezed the seven of them into a booth that would’ve been more comfortable for four or five. Only the fact that Mo sat in a chair at the end of the booth made it work, but it was still a tight fit.

Shayna was not complaining.

Because Billy smelled like soap and a clean-scented aftershave and something that was all him—combined, they made up a mouthwatering scent that she wouldn’t have minded drowning in. The whole night she’d been over-aware of the press of their thighs and the way they kept bumping arms until they’d finally broken down in laughter over how difficult it was to cut their steaks without elbowing each other in the face.

Billy turned to Shayna. “Are you having a good time?”

“Yes. Thanks for letting me tag along,” she said.

He shook his head. “You’re not tagging along. I wanted you here. And everyone wanted to meet you.”

“It’s true,” Sean said. “Because it’s not everyday someone gets a jump on a Ranger.”

Billy threw the guy an unamused look, and Shayna laughed. “I wouldn’t go that far,” she said.

“Thank you,” Billy said.

“Wait.” Dani held out her hands and surveyed the lot of them. “I need this story from the beginning.”

Which kicked off twenty minutes of her and Billy fighting to tell their versions of the story—sans all mention of her getting naked at the end of it, thank God—while everyone laughed and taunted Billy and high-fived Shayna.

Dani and Tara were totally on her side all the way, and that had Billy refusing to share the piece of cheesecake that he’d agreed to split with Shayna when they ordered it.

She tried to maneuver her fork around his arm, but he blocked her, making her laugh even as she pleaded for a bite. “Come on. It’s not my fault that all your friends think it’s funny that I broke into your house.”

He smirked at her. “That isn’t earning you any cheesecake.”

“It’s my cheesecake, too,” she said, trying again.

He easily blocked her next attack. “Possession is nine-tenths of the law.”

“Quit being a dickweasal,” she said, laughing as she tried again.

He grinned and held the dessert plate further away. “Dickweasal, am I?”

“Oh, do you prefer jizzmuffin?”

Mo’s eyebrows went way up. “Listen to the genius coming out of this girl’s mouth.” Everyone laughed. “Is this also courtesy of your brother?”

“Brothers,” Shayna said, not failing to claim Dylan, too. For once. “And yes. I had to be able to insult them back, didn’t I?”

Grinning, Mo grabbed the plate from Billy’s hand when he wasn’t looking.

“Hey!” Billy said, a comically outraged expression on his sexy face.

“Creativity like that takes fuel, brother, that’s all I’m saying.” He handed the plate around Billy to Shayna.

About two-thirds of the cake was left, and Shayna promptly licked the whole top of it. “I licked it. It’s mine now. Take that, assclown.”

The whole table howled in laughter. Mo was actually crying.

And she thought Billy’s expression had been comical before. His jaw dropped. “I can’t believe you just did that.”

She slid a big forkful of the sweet, creamy deliciousness into her mouth. “Oh, believe it,” she said around the bite.

As he watched her, his gaze shifted. From outraged to playful to challenging. And she didn’t think she was imagining more than a little heat in those dark eyes, either. “You think I’m put off by a pretty woman’s tongue, Shayna Curtis?”
