Review – The Trouble With Christmas by Amy Andrews

The Trouble With Christmas; Credence, Colorado #2 (Series)
by Amy Andrews (Author)

This review is from: September 16, 2019 By Kay Daniels
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥🔥

LOL fun!! I love reading Amy Andrews books and The Trouble With Christmas is filled with crazy holiday fun, a grinch-like rancher, crazy faux inspired paintings and one dominatrix Barbie Christmas tree topper. This is a holiday book you do not want to miss.

What could possibly go wrong when Suzanne St. Michelle tells one tiny lie to her parents in hopes that they won’t visit her while she’s staying in Credence, CO this holiday season? What is this tiny lie you ask? She’s dating the grumpy rancher, Joshua Grady, whom she’s currently renting the cottage from. She may have also embellished the small lie and told her parents that Josh LOVES Christmas. That he is something like a Christmas fairy, sprinkling that stuff around like fairy dust in his good cheer. Josh in fact tries to avoid anything to do with the season, but I’ll get to that.  You see, Suzanne was only trying to keep her parents in New York. She only wanted to spend Christmas with her friend, in a very over the top way like a Hallmark movie. So there was nothing wrong with a little lie…right?  Try telling that to the grinch…I mean Josh.

Joshua Grady prefers solitude. He also prefers answering people with one word replies if asked anything. You see, Grady, as he prefers to be called, isn’t much for conversation or people. So when Suzanne rents his cottage, he isn’t thrilled, but he’s able to stay away, so no harm no foul. But when Suzanne approaches him about this hairbrained scheme to be her fake rancher boyfriend when her parents decide to visit for the holidays…well he has more than just one word to say about that. He doesn’t like the holidays for a reason and he certainly doesn’t like his solitary alone time to be encroached upon…but she also offers up a deal that he can’t refuse. If only the deal doesn’t break Suzanne’s muse in the process.

I love the town and the townsfolk of Credence, Co. They add so much color and life to the story. Grady and Suzanne have great chemistry, along with a great back and forth that will have you chuckling out loud. The holiday items mentioned that are outrageously over the top had me laughing so hard. This was like watching Clark Griswald light up his home on TV, but better because it was Grady’s. Amy Andrews filled every nook and cranny with a garish Christmas item and I loved the creative touches her mind came up with. Pulling Grady out of his grinch-ish mood was a fantastic transformation to read and I loved every moment.

Patty smiled when Shane leaned on her as she washed the dishes. His freshly dyed hair draped over her shoulder. “Do you need something?”
“Yeah… but not gonna ask you for that… yet.” His eyes closed as his body responded to their closeness. One foot moved back, then he decided he shouldn’t hide his desire for her.
She pressed against him and bit her lip when she felt a bulge in his shorts. What’s he like in bed? Should I make the first move? Does he like that sort of thing? Ugh! We’re taking this slow, remember? Maybe we should go out on a date.
“Patty?” She hadn’t responded to multiple questions. With an urge for more contact, Shane placed his hands on her hips. “How about we watch a porn on the couch?”
The plate in Patty’s hand slipped. “What?”
“That you hear, but not me asking if you’ve seen the new Star Wars movie?”
She blushed. “I’m sorry. My mind drifted for a while.”
“I know.” His lips touched her ear. “What were you thinking about? Me?”
“Yes.” Her entire body shivered. “Are you trying to seduce me?”
His eyes widened. “Uh… no.” He stepped back. “Sorry.”
She turned and winked. “It’s working.”
“Really?” He brushed her lips with his. “I guess we should continue then.”

Bella Jeanisse lives for rock music. Addicted to concerts, Avenged Sevenfold, fictional rockers, and blasting music in the car, she can’t get enough. After her father turned her on to Queen, there was no going back. Of course, it didn’t stop there. Playing guitar became a pastime, which didn’t turn into a career… until she started to pen her fantasies and publish them.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York City, she grew up with access to clubs like L’Amour and CBGBs, hung out in Greenwich Village, as well as had plenty of friends in bands. No wonder rockers stayed on her mind. Bringing her ideas to life was a long time coming.
She is now living near Tampa, FL with 3 kids and 3 grandkids, as a single mom. Her family supports her writing even when it seems to take up more time than they feel is necessary. Can’t stop the muse, ya know!
Besides erotic rock star romances, Bella also writes about wild bikers, hot college men and more.

I was never supposed to want to keep her.
She was meant to be borrowed.
Mine for four days and not a day longer.
She doesn’t belong to me.
She belongs to someone else.

My brother…

The closest person I have outside of the screaming fans and paparazzi—a constant in my new life— other than the whiskey I drown myself in to numb the pain left by someone else.

But a secluded cabin in the woods and my ex who decided she’s not over me forces me to go to the extreme in order to take control of my world again before I lose it completely.

Unfortunately for me, my brother’s girlfriend is the only girl I haven’t slept with and made fall for me, resulting in hating me in the end.

She’s my only option.

Sharing a room in a cabin with me is most girls’ dream come true, but for Natalie, she claims it’s her worst nightmare. She thinks I’m a cocky bastard and has always been good at destroying my ego.

I never realized when I asked to borrow her for the trip, that I’d feel something I haven’t felt in a long time, or that I’d like the way she pretends she doesn’t enjoy being around me.

Have you ever borrowed something and didn’t want to give it back?

Yeah, well, me too. And I’m starting to think she should have been mine to begin with…

Read Kay’s Review: Back In Bliss

“Holy shit.” Logan practically beamed at the thing that looked like it could eat her. “Seth! Seth, get in here!”

He went to the door and yelled for Seth again.

Seth ran in, his eyes wide and his body covered only in a towel. A little towel. A tiny white towel that contrasted with his tan skin and had been wrapped over ridiculously muscled hips. He had those notches, the ones she’d always been sure some artist Photoshopped onto male models because no one could be that perfect. His dark hair was wet, curling above his shoulders. Moisture clung to his every muscle and, holy hell, he had a lot of them. They hid underneath his perfectly tailored suits.

Georgia forgot about the crazy-ass creature that had come straight out of some danger-in-the-wild documentary and watched the two gorgeous predators who had invaded her room.

She pulled the covers up to her neck, aware that she didn’t look anything like they did.

“Maurice.” Seth took a step forward. “Wow. How the hell long do moose live, man? It’s totally Maurice. You can see where Hiram tried to take him down. There’s a scar on his nose.”

Logan moved in, too, and she could see the easy way the two men related. For a moment she saw the kids they had been, friends forever. God, she’d never had a friend like that.

Logan opened the window and she heard a loud chuffing noise. “He kicked Hiram in the groin. It was a damn lucky thing the man already had three kids because I heard nothing worked the same after. Hey, boy. You remember me?”

Another huff and she was about to believe the thing knew how to communicate.

Seth looked over at her, his eyes glinting. “We don’t get a ton of moose around here. Maurice is a legend. The people of Bliss say that if he shows up at your place, you’re blessed. Meant to be here. He’s the welcoming committee.”

Logan laughed. “What no one will tell you is he’s a total snack whore. If you leave a Snickers bar on the porch, he will show up lickety-split. When Laura finally got comfy, I snuck some chocolate onto her porch so she would feel welcome.”

“I’m glad she stayed. I heard she got married,” Seth said.

Logan nodded. “Got a kid now. That’s why I’m here. Her husbands need some paternity leave. I heard it’s a girl.”

Their shared history was right there, a palpable thing between them. It was almost as though she could reach out and touch it, feel the warmth of it. Logan and Seth felt like a family.

What was she doing here?

Once again, like most of her life, she was the outsider. Even among her brothers, she’d felt it. Chase and Ben had each other. Mark and Dare had been tight. And she and Win had been so far apart in age that they couldn’t connect on a brother-sister level. She’d been alone. The only child whose mother wasn’t up to snuff. The only one without money when the tide had turned.

Logan looked down at her, his eyes softening. “Georgia, I’m sorry about last night. I didn’t mean a word of what I said. To either of you.”

She nodded, feeling awkward. They were here in her bedroom. It was a bit surreal. She turned her attention back to the moose.

“So it’s not something that’s going to attack?” She kept the blanket around her neck. Yeah, that was another way she was different. She wasn’t gorgeously perfect like them. She’d tried the whole diet thing, and she wasn’t cut out for it.

“Maurice is a sweetie, but I won’t lie. The first time I saw him, I peed my own damned pants and ran screaming for my mommas,” Logan said on a laugh. He reached a hand out, pressing it against the screen, his eyes misting like he was reaching for his past. “He won’t hurt you. He wants to say hello. And he probably smelled the bacon. Shit. My bacon.”

Logan turned and took off at a dead run for the kitchen.

Seth touched the screen, too. “Hey, Maurice. Thanks for the welcome.”

When he turned back to Georgia, he sported the sweetest smile. He jumped onto her bed, not a hint of self-consciousness on his face as he settled in beside her. “How did you sleep? My bed’s better, by the way. It’s huge. Built for three.”

“Good for you and whatever ménage you choose to invite. Could you go away so I can get dressed?” Last night seemed like a dream, and more than a little like a nightmare. God, what had she been thinking? Seth wanted her to tempt Logan into a ménage? He was insane. She was insane for not immediately walking out of the cabin and hoofing it to Malibu and the safety of Win’s minicastle where she could make like Rapunzel. She would barricade herself in and then keep her hair cut because she was done with men.

He smiled, an intimate thing that threatened to curl her toes. “I thought we settled that last night.”

She sighed and wished she was strong enough to not look at that towel, praying it would flop open and she would get a good view of what Seth had down under. Maybe it was small. Like tiny.

Did it matter? He was the sweetest man she’d ever met. He was kind and good. She wasn’t about to reject him because he had a small penis. It wasn’t like sex was all that awesome anyway.

Logan had a big penis. She’d felt it rubbing against her when he’d kissed her like there was no tomorrow. She thought about Logan’s penis a lot. More than a lot.

Nope. She wasn’t going to reject anyone based on penis size. She was going to reject them because she wasn’t about to get her heart broken again.

I tickled her ribcage, rolling us over. I would regret this. Her giggles made me hard all over again and I fought against the urge to hear one of her moans. “Funny, smartass. You owe me a ghost story. Go.”
“I don’t have any ghost stories.”
My fingers paused. “Then tell me something that scares you so we’re even.”
“Santa Claus.”
“Are you fucking with me?”
“I swear it’s true.”
My eyes blinked in disbelief. “Santa Not axe murders, serial killers, or clowns?”
“Oh no, those things are scary too, but you said one thing. This is in keeping with the theme of your story.”
I moved off her, crossed my arms under my head, and laid on my back. “What about St. Nick freaks you out, Texas?”
“You can’t laugh.” She bit her bottom lip. I struggled because I wanted to bite it too.
“Do better than that.” She held out her pinky to me. I curled mine around hers.
“Get on with the story.” God, I wanted to taste her again. Taste her everywhere.
“Okay, so I was six or seven. Before my father left for that one-of- a-kind brand of smokes, he decided to take us to visit my grandparents for the holidays. As usual, my mom was pissed at him. She complained the whole way that we should’ve gone to her relatives. It was constant griping about the car being too hot and that he needed to find a job.
“She brought up his promise to take me to see Santa. It was her way of guilting him. We were on some back road when he pulled over at this small hole in the wall country store. The kind that sells homemade jams and ammunition. Oh, and of course, cigarettes.
“It must have been fate because there was a sign announcing Santa would be there. My dad gave my mom one of those ‘I planned this all along looks.’ Random, right?”
“Yeah, it is.”
“Anyway, we had to wait since Santa was running late… My mom complained about that too, but she lightened up when my dad told her to buy something nice for herself. After an hour, Santa finally showed up.”
“And he turned out to be an old creepy guy?”
She grinned, undoing the last braid she’d made. She combed her fingers through the strands. “No, he was wonderful. He had a real beard and everything. Since I was the only kid in the place, I got to spend a lot of time with him. He listened while I rattled on about all the dumb stuff I wanted. He even asked me questions.”
“Then why are you afraid of him?”
“That didn’t happen until later. When we finally left I saw this huge shiny red pick-up in the parking lot. The front was decorated with garland. The words, ‘Santa’s Sleigh’ was painted on the side. My father got some dad feelings and said, ‘look Scar, that right there is Santa’s truck.’” She made a hand gesture imitating the scene. “I asked him why Santa didn’t have his real sleigh.
“Dad said it was because his sleigh could only be used on Christmas Eve. When he was doing normal Santa stuff, he used the truck. I got really excited and thought my present might be in the back. That made total sense, right?”
“It kind of does.”
“Well, before my dad could stop me, I ran around and jumped on the tailgate. I lifted the blue tarp covering the truck bed and stuck my head inside.” She shivered, the goose bumps on her arms visible. “I’ve never been the same since.”
I tensed with her narration. “What the hell was in there?” I rubbed her arms. My head ran through a montage of horror films, each image worse than the last.
“The bloody corpse of a ten-point buck.”
If I’d been drinking something, I would have choked. “You’re kidding.”
“I wish. Turns out Santa was a hunter. The reason he ran so late was because he’d had himself a nice kill. The whole trip home, I screamed, “Santa shot Dancer. Santa killed Dancer. Dancer is dead. I have no clue why I thought it was Dancer, and not one of the other reindeer. But ever since then, Santa freaks me out. I even stopped leaving cookies out after that.”

New Release – Breakaway by Elise Faber

It was hate at first sight…
Breakaway by Elise Faber is available now!

It was hate at first sight.

Just not for Blue. He’d loved what he’d seen. Tall and thin with long blond hair and gorgeous blue eyes, Anna Hayes was absolutely beautiful.

She also wanted absolutely nothing to do with him.

As a professional hockey player, that was a rare thing for Blue Anderson. He was young, rich, good looking, and in the best shape of his life. He wouldn’t say he had to beat women off with a stick, but . . . maybe he had to brush them off with a broom. Still, bad puns aside, the truth was Blue didn’t have any trouble finding someone—or someones—to share his bed.

Except Anna.

Never beautiful Anna with the razor-sharp wit and seriously dirty mouth.

Despite his appreciation for her model good looks, Blue knew when to stay away. And his plan was to remain far far away from the woman who never failed to roast him within an inch of his life.

He wanted someone nice, not a woman who’d barbecue his balls off.

But then Blue did something stupid—something that felt incredible, but was also incredibly stupid.

He kissed prickly, gorgeous Anna Hayes.

And every one of his carefully laid plans went right out the window.
