Review:

A delightful beginning to Erin Nicholas new series with sweet flirty banter and the right amount of dirty spice mixed in to make this a huge hit.

Zoe and Aiden have known each other for their entire lives. Zoe’s older brother, Cam, is Aiden’s best friend and Appleby is a small town in Iowa, so it isn’t hard to not know practically everyone. When Aiden lost his mother at the age of fourteen Zoe’s mother pretty much took over raising him and Aiden became an honorary family member. Both Zoe and Aiden looked at one another as a brother/sister for years, until one day they didn’t.

This is definitely a book of where you don’t see what’s right under your nose until you wake up and recognize it. Since Zoe and Aiden grew up together and Aiden is her brothers friend, neither recognized the other as a romantic item. I honestly had to stop and think about my own brothers friends and the thought was instantly….eeeewwwww, although I also haven’t seen most of them since I moved out of my parents house either, so I understand this trope and love the concept.

The chemistry between Zoe and Aiden is off the charts hot, but I also love that it takes a while to build to scorching levels. Aiden is a man who knows what he wants and never wavers, whether it is for his woman or in his business career. I love the confidence he has about everything in his life and yet he is also caring and considerate. He is a total unicorn, and I love everything about him.

Zoe is also very passionate about everything she does. Her business succeeds because of her drive and ambition. This also applies when it comes to Aiden. When she finally decided it was time and she wanted him, she put a plan in action and went after it. Unfortunately, he put a kabosh on it and said no, but her strong will didn’t stop her initially, it just put a hold on things temporarily.

These two together are an amazing power couple. Driven to succeed they will bring the feud to an end in Appleby. They really do care about each other and also about the town, which will mean both of their businesses will ultimately succeed. I really can’t wait to catch up with them in further books of this series to see how well they do.

Erin also set out the perfect ingredients that have left me salivating for the next book. I can hardly wait.

Synopsis:

A hot, funny brother’s best friend rom com… with sugar on top!

She’s his best friend’s little sister. He’s known her all his life. He’s practically part of the family. There is nothing either of them could do to surprise the other at this point.

Then she showed up in his bedroom in lingerie and asked him to take her V-card.

Okay, that was a surprise.

Aiden is pretty sure Zoe was equally surprised when he told her no.

To say that he didn’t handle it well would be a massive understatement. Almost as massive as the amount of work he’s going to have to do now to convince her that he wants her. Forever.

Right after he tells her that he’s bought the company that’s her bakery’s biggest competitor.

Maybe if he tells her he’s in love with her first, that will help sugarcoat the whole we’re-rivals-in-business-now thing.

So, first “I’m in love with you”, then “take off your clothes”, then “I’m now your business adversary”.

Piece of cake.
