Making Whoopie; Hot Cakes #3

Review:

The Hot Cakes Series gets better and better! A hot, bossy, alpha male mixed with a sweet, sassy female baker and Making Whoopie is the perfect recipe for Erin Nicholas’ newest romcom!

The romantic, never wants to leave Appleby, IA baker literally falls into the steady arms of Grant Lorre. A man known for his spreadsheets and powerpoint presentations. There isn’t a romantic or fanciful thing about Grant, at least not one that his friends would accuse him of, but Josie gets to know a different side to the bossy billionaire and every bossy, caveman, protective streak in him calls to the romantic side in her.

When Josie needs surgery and she has no insurance or nest egg set aside to cover the procedure Grant offers to cover it. When Josie refuses his money he offers himself up instead and by that I mean, he offers himself up as her husband so she is covered on his insurance. She takes his offer, considering their amazing chemistry, but more so it doesn’t cost Grant a small fortune to be his wife, just the potential to lose her heart.

Making Whoopie is steamy and funny and full of protective, alpha male that will make you swoon. Baking will never be the same again!! I don’t know why I’m continually amazed that each book gets better and better, because Erin does it with every series I read of hers, but I LOVE this book and I’m so excited to read what comes next!

Synopsis:

This marriage of convenience is about to get sticky.

Getting hitched for the health insurance is not Jocelyn Asher’s idea of romance.

But the hospital quote has really frosted her cookies, and suddenly, “I’m rich. We should just get married,” sounds a whole lot more swoony.

Especially when the man proposing is this gorgeous. And takes her to parties featuring champagne and petit fours. She’s a sucker for anything with bubbles or icing. And just like that she finds herself married to a near stranger.

Grant Lorre is usually allergic to spontaneity.

So why did he ask the beautiful small-town baker he had a one-stand with to marry him? Somehow watching her lick batter off a whisk–not a euphemism–made a wedding and a little fraud seem like a sweet idea.

They’ll just play house and make some whoopie–pies, of course–for a few months and then move on with their separate lives. Until then, bring on the cream filling. And that is a euphemism.

But as things heat up even outside of the kitchen, they quickly realize there’s no recipe to follow when it comes to love.

Review:

Cole Sommers is stubborn, grumpy and is completely oblivious to the hearts swimming in his secretaries eyes. Melodie Turner has had a crush on Cole for over a decade and that crush has only grown since she’s worked for him the past two years.

When a case comes through that requires the help of a woman, Mel throws her hat in the ring. The chance to work closely with Cole is something she’s wanted for a long time and she’s wanted to get more involved with the PI firm. When Cole continues to turn her down Mel decides to turn her good girl persona off and finally unleash the bad girl that lives inside.

Cole has a hard time separating the new Mel from the old Mel. He’s been attracted to her for a long time, but he made a promise to her father to always look after her, but once she unleashes the new her he has a hard time saying no and keeping that promise.

When they eventually give in, could it be a mistake, one that neither will ever come back from? Cole and Mel may work well together, but are they a love match?

Synopsis:

He swore he wouldn’t touch her, but she’s about to test his restraint.

Prim and proper secretary Melodie Turner has been in lust for her boss for years . . . and she’s finally going to do something about it. P.I. Cole Sommers might be able to barely resist her sexy new attitude and flirtatious behavior, but when she takes a cue from his current case and decides to seduce Cole’s mind with highly provocative letters, she knows his body won’t be very far behind . . .

Cole is definitely in over his head. He’s got more cases than he can handle, but all he can think about is taking his secretary to bed, turning her over his knee, and showing her what happens to naughty girls who don’t behave. At every turn, Melodie is there, taunting him, teasing him, making him burn with a deep, undeniable need. But Cole promised her father that he’d protect her—even from himself—which means she’s off-limits.

Only he hadn’t counted on being the target of Melodie’s irresistible sensual assaults. Nor had he planned to lose his hardened heart in the battle . . .

Classified; The Elite #3
(#3 within a series)

Review:

Classified is the conclusion to the high flying MM Elite series. A perfect ending to an intense trilogy.

Panther and Solo have shown tremendous growth throughout their time together and were able to keep their intense relationship blazing hot, but once their training ends what will happen to them? While neither of them want to really discuss their future, they also know their time is running short and the possibility of being deployed to opposite ends of the world is very real.

Panther is ready to stop hiding and brings his relationship with Solo forward. Ready to risk it all he makes a statement by letting everyone know that Solo is his and for the first time in a long time he feels happy. Sharing simple things like dates and spending all of his free time with the man he’s falling fast for.

Solo may still be cocky, but being with Panther has smoothed his edges out. For the first time ever he’s looking towards a future and he doesn’t want to face it alone. He actually likes having a partner in the air and on the ground and the thought of losing Panther actually scares him.

With the two of them hiding from the future it leaves them in a cloud of doubt and easy for vultures to step in and stir that doubt up. Will their connection be enough to survive?

I love where these two men have come from and what their relationship has grown into. Their vulnerability is endearing, the passion is hot and they complete each other so well. The Elite series is an excellent read overall!

Synopsis:

Classified is the final book of the Elite Series and should only be read after book one, Danger Zone, and book two, Need for Speed.

They train to serve their country.
They strive to be the best.
But only a select few can be…
The Elite

* * *

MATEO MORGAN
CALL SIGN: SOLO

Reckless, arrogant, and bold, Solo is as known in the U.S. Navy for his bad-boy reputation as he is for his skills as a fighter pilot. It’s a surprise to his peers, then, when he’s chosen to train and compete at the most prestigious naval aviation academy in the world.

MISSION RULES:
1.Kick everyone’s ass.
2.Do whatever it takes to win.
3.Do your best to distract the competition.
4.Especially when that competition is a gorgeous blue-eyed perfectionist who makes your blood run hot.

GRANT HUGHES
CALL SIGN: PANTHER

Disciplined, smart, and confident, Panther can’t afford not to play by the rules. As the son of a top Navy commander, all eyes are on him, and being anything less than number one is unacceptable.

MISSION RULES:
1.Keep it safe in the air.
2.Prove you’re more than Commander Hughes’s son.
3.No distractions. Stay focused.
4.Don’t fall for your competition—especially not the rebellious heartbreaker with lips made for sinning.

In the heat of the hot California sun, tempers flare and desires ignite as Solo and Panther try to resist their attraction while fighting to be number one.
With passion this intense, the question remains:
Who’s gonna come out on top?
