Naughty Neighbor; Falling for a Libra

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

A romance writer who doesn’t believe in love…what? Well, don’t we all fantasize about what we can’t have? The premise of this story is so sweet and also so real, it was very easy to get lost in Naughty Neighbor.

Lacey is writing her third book in a series and she is facing serious writer’s block. That is until she befriends her smexy neighbor Jake. They have lived next door to one another for awhile, but haven’t really talked much, but now that she really needs to buckle down and concentrate, Jake is a distraction that actually becomes her muse.

For anyone who has read this writing duo, you might recognize the book that Lacey is working on. This is definitely an art imitating life imitating art kind of book. What made Naughty Neighbor even more enjoyable is that this just so happened to be my favorite book that they had penned together so far. I won’t let the cat out of the bag because you need to experience every moment yourself, but it is really amazing imagining each step in that book while reading this one.

Another aspect I really enjoyed was all the behind the scenes into Lacey’s author life. The feeling of connecting to fans, attending signings, the idea of inspiring couples who are currently in relationships or perhaps giving a single gal that push to jump back into the dating pool and try something new. Seriously writers deserve more credit for not only their writing skills, but for all of their hard work behind the scenes and this book absolutely shines in those highlights.

Even though Lacey spends her days spouting tales of love, her own life hasn’t had great heros to her heroine. So when Jake begins to get serious, Lacey doesn’t take the news well and she basically freaks. How do you trust someone when you’ve never learned how to love?  Should she take a page from her own book and dive in head first or is her own fairytale doomed before it begins?

All the inspiration and muse like scenes are total yumminess. This Libra inspired tale is sweetly romantic.

Synopsis:

As a romance novelist, I’m facing my worst nightmare—writer’s block.

No matter what I write, I hit delete, knowing it’s not worth publishing. The future of my career rests on the success of this new book.

So, here I am, looking at Tumblr, desperate for inspiration, when I hear a thumping. Annoyed by the music blaring through the walls, I barge into the hall and bang on my neighbor’s door.

My very hot, very naughty neighbor, Jake Morreau.

Jake is romantic, charming, and the bane of my existence. I need to work, yet he refuses to let me.

When he greets me in the hallway, ideas of a sinfully hot hero come to mind.

When he takes me out on the town, the words flow as soon as I come home.

The more time I spend with this entertaining and quick-witted man, the more I’m able to write.

My neighbor is my muse, and before I know it, I slowly become the heroine of my own story, but I don’t know how to end it.

As I write the epilogue, I’m afraid our romance won’t pan out as I’ve written.

Jake Morreau is my hero.

Then again, in my life, heroes don’t exist.

Review – No Love Lost by Lexi Blake

No Love Lost; Masters and Mercenaries-The Forgotten #5
(#5 within a series)

by: Lexi Blake

Review Rating:

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

Every inch of this book is bittersweet happiness. From the very start of the Lost Boys series’ it has been some of Lexi Blake’s best writing. No Love Lost was a culmination of years of hard work and carefully crafted plotting.

Her James Bond like suspense mixed with a high steamy factor has made this a favorite series of mine for almost a decade. The Forgotten branch of the Masters and Mercenaries series has truly brought me happiness like never before, interconnecting her other worlds, bringing us a wild ride that spreads joy to all of her fandoms.

From the very dedication I was choked up. The story captivated me from the beginning to end; filled with action, hotness, tear filled moments and lots of LOL moments as well.

Ezra/Beck Fain man have been the man who helped keep the Lost Boys together, but in doing so he lost his job working with the CIA. In his place a sinister man took over and Levi Green is like no other bad man the McKay-Taggart team ever took on before.

Levi is truly a sociopath that should make you wonder about the inner workings of Lexi’s mind…his long game is unlike anything I’ve ever read and his evilness is so brilliant…I do wonder if Lexi sits around and cackles while she’s plotting. His game has involved the Lost Boys and Beck is tired of playing considering Levi is fixated on his ex-wife, Kim Soloman.

Kim “Solo” Soloman can never seem to escape the one man who holds her heart. Beck Fain can never forgive her for the death of his brother and that mistake will forever be the anger that is a wedge between them…oh and Levi Green.

As long as he is breathing down their necks, creating a cycle of chaos, walking away from the man she loves will be the only possible solution from the tangle that is her life.

It all comes down to saving the world, saving each other, and saving the team. Can this all be achieved while setting aside past grievances and will Levi finally get what’s coming to him?

No Love Lost is the last in The Forgotten series, but for fans of this series, we may know that even as the characters are aging, they have also reproduced like rabbits, so fear not as there will be generations to come to carry on the world that Lexi has created.

Synopsis:

When Ezra Fain joined the ranks of the CIA, the last thing on his mind was romance. After meeting Kim Soloman, it was difficult to think of anything else. A tragic mistake drove them apart, leaving him shattered and unable to forgive the woman he loved. But when his greatest enemy threatens her life, Ezra leaps into action, prepared to do anything to try to save her.

Solo accepted long ago that she won’t get over Ezra. She’s worked for years to get back into his life, looking for any way to reignite the love they once shared. Unfortunately, nothing seems to penetrate the wall he has built between them. When she’s arrested for a crime she didn’t commit, she believes she’s on her own.

Racing across the globe, Ezra and Solo find themselves together again, caught in the crosshairs of the agency they sacrificed so much to serve. Days on the run soon turn to steamy nights, but Levi Green isn’t about to let them find their happily ever after. And when the smoke clears, the men and women of McKay-Taggart will never be the same again.

Well This Sucks
(A standalone)

Review:

Once I was able to stop laughing…cause OMG…hilarious doesn’t even begin to scrape the tip of the fang in this book…I was able to sit down and compose my thoughts aside from; LOL, HAHAHA, giggle-giggle-snort!!!

The tag team duo of Coralee and Carrie have another hit!! All joking aside, this is one jammed packed funny, but also amazingly well written book!

Drew is your basic, entitled, yet works her butt off for a sextoy company kind of modern woman. She may have been on a horrible date when things only got worse and she was turned into a midnight snack (and not the kind of snack she was hoping for when she shaved her body) when she was accidently turned into a vampire. Yeah, that date couldn’t have gotten any worse.

Now she’s under the “management” of the King of the Vampires himself, Diego. Drew still has a job, friends and a life…well a dead life, but it’s still her life. No matter how much she promises not to chew on anyone Diego has other ideas on how to rule over her new situation.

Diego has very strict rules in his coven and turning vampires without going through his hardcore vetting process is a very big no-no. The night he should have destroyed the new fledgling, Drew, he instead is incredibly drawn to her. That mistake will probably cost him more than he knows, but destroying her just isn’t on the menu.

If only Drew would do what she’s told, read the pamphlet and follow the rules (vampire 101…it’s very simple reading) and follow his rules, perhaps she might survive living eternity.

Seriously, this book is so much fun and a must read for anyone who loves reading romantic comedy with a sharp tooth of paranormal and the puns…oh the puns are fangtastic!!

Synopsis:

I treat eating pancakes on patios like it’s a personality trait.
Brunch is my jam. I like the beach, shopping, carbs, and reading naughty books on the train during my commute. I wear pink. Lots of it. If Tinder were an olympic sport, I’d take home the gold. I can rock stilettos like they’re a pair of Nike joggers. I’m basically a basic bitch.

I’m in the prime of my life. I’ve got my dream job as the head of marketing at a sex toy company, and I’ve been steadily dating myself for the better half of the last decade. I’m thirty, flirty, and thriving, dammit.

Or at least I was, until some fucker had the audacity to turn me into a vampire.

I don’t do blood and doom and gloom. I sure as hell don’t like sleeping in a coffin, avoiding garlic bread, and these ridiculous vamp politics. And don’t get me started on Diego. He’s vampire royalty and a pain in my ass. A very sexy pain in the ass. When he’s not driving me crazy with all his rules, he’s turning my panties into Niagara falls.

I absolutely refuse to live the rest of my immortal life in some wannabe nineties grunge music video.

THIS SUCKS.

Excerpt

I’ve always had an inkling that Nate has wanted more from me, and it’s become more and more apparent lately, but me and Nate? That can never happen. Nate’s Godiva chocolate and I’m just regular old Hershey. Nate’s Armani and I’m Walmart brand on a good day. He’s pure class and I’m just white trash. I’ll never let myself dull his shine. And now that we’re adults, Nate’s on one side of the law and I’m on the other. Too many things stand between me and the man of my dreams. I try to make an effort to take shallow breaths so I don’t draw in too much of his manly scent, but it’s no damn use. His smell assaults my senses, making me feel loopy and lightheaded. My insides warm, and the whole thing pisses me off. What did he do today? Roll around in oranges and manliness before he picked me up? He smells ridiculous. “Crack a damn window, Nate. It’s stifling in here,” I snap out. Nate shoots a panty-melting smile my way like he knows what his smell does to me before saying, “Till, show some respect to the uniform. It’s Officer Trent.” His lips twitch in a barely there smile. His bicep flexes as he grips the steering wheel to make a left turn, and I blush, thinking of all the ways I want to respect the hell out of that uniform. You know? With me under him. Me over him. Me on my knees in front of him. I smile. If he only knew how much I respected that uniform. God, get your shit together, Tillie. Stop thinking about the hot cop you’re in love with and figure out how to get the hell out of this car. I cannot let Nate take me down to the station. It’s unfortunate, this whole bounced-check situation. It really is, but it truly was unavoidable. I think of my good-for-nothing mother and roll my eyes. I’ve got to figure out another way to keep paying her debts off, because cleaning apartments at the retirement home isn’t cutting it. I’m not making enough money to feed myself and support my mother’s bad habits. But I refuse to let her contact Millie and upset her. I’ll pay my mother’s gambling debts forever if it means Millie can live free and clear of our mom. I look to my right out the car window and notice Hannah, Millie’s best friend, driving her old, blue Ford Escort next to us. We’re coming up on a light, so I scoot closer to Nate across the bench seat of his cruiser until I’m pressed against his side, putting my plan into action. But my stupid pulse still kicks up a notch at our proximity, my body betraying me in the worst possible way. His head turns to mine and our lips are a mere breath apart. “What are you doing, Till?” he asks, his eyes genuine, and I almost feel bad for what I’m about to do. Running my hand up from his knee to his thigh, I lean closer to him until our noses brush. “What do you want me to do, Officer Trent?” I breathe across his lips as my hand ghosts across the zipper of his blue trousers. We stop at the light, and Nate closes his eyes and leans his head back against the headrest on a groan. I ignore the wetness that floods my panties and my desire to really grip his cock and give it a good stroke. “Another time,” I whisper before quickly sliding back across the bench seat and throwing my door open. I don’t even slam it behind me as I run across the lane, my arms flailing, sweating like a whore in church.

Blurb:
A sexy new friends-to-lovers standalone!

Let me list the reasons why dating a sexy, charming, pro hockey star is a bad idea:
1. He’s one of my closest friends
2. All our friends are friends
3. The wounds I’ve got from past relationships go deep. And so do his.

We’re both devoutly single — it’s just safer for the heart that way. But there’s no reason not to bid on the gorgeous, clever athlete at the charity auction this weekend. If I win, it’ll be a friendsdate.

And I do win.

I win him big.

And hard.

And all night long.

The trouble is . . . what happens in the morning?
