Review:
Daddy King is here and he is darkly delicious!! Filled with heat between the sheets and lingering ghosts walking the halls, Reign of a King is insanely good!
I’m just going to throw out there that Jonathan King is roughly around my age, but even I was having “daddy” fantasies about this dominating man throughout the entire book. Yes, Jonathan is a controlling alpha in every sense of the word. If he wants to control your company he will. If he wants to control your emotions – done. If he wants to control your body, it’s his. Everything and everyone that resides in his kingdom is his. Until Aurora Harper comes into his life.
Aurora is feisty, she’s had everything taken from her, but she’s risen from the ashes and been reborn. She doesn’t back down and she is the perfect woman to go up against the King.
Aurora is unpredictable in Jonathan’s controlled world and as much as it frustrates him, she intrigues him. She’s deemed a worthy opponent, a challenge in his war-controlled life. Yes, she is sometimes a burr in his backside, but he has no problem retaliating on her backside. She could be the woman to finally make him lose control, which he’s only done once before.
Aurora may have never wished to become a target in Jonathan’s kingdom, but now that the wheels are in motion and she’s living with her sister’s husband, she plans to take the opportunity to piece together what happened to her sister when she died eleven years ago.
The more time Aurora spends with Jonathan she realizes he’s a puzzle she can’t quite solve. What she does know; he’s a tyrant, he’s ruthless, he’s calculated, and he’s always in control, but he doesn’t appear to be the monster she’s suspected him to be. Unless that is part of his calculated plan and she has yet to see him truly unleashed.
Reign of a King is not to be read as a standalone, as it is the first book in a duet. I know I said it above, but it bears repeating…this is so wickedly delicious and insanely good. The heat, the mystery, the banter, everything!!! I can hardly wait for Rise of a Queen.
Synopsis:
Nothing is fair in war.
Jonathan King is every bit his last name.
Powerful.
Untouchable.
Corrupted.
He’s also my dead sister’s husband and way older than me.
When I first met him as a clueless child, I thought he was a god.
Now, I have to confront that god to protect my business from his ruthless grip.
Little did I know that declaring a war on the king will cost me everything.
When Jonathan covets something, he doesn’t only win, he conquers.
Now, he has his sights on me.
He wants to consume not only my body, but also my heart and my soul.
I fight, but there’s no escaping the king in his kingdom…
Reign of a King is the first part of a duet and is not standalone.
