Review:
Kayley Loring’s books always make me smile and my heart glow! In her newest book, A Very Friendly Valentine’s Day, Birdie and Eddie are pure joy swirled together in steamy heat, which make this a perfect blend of reading happiness!!
Eddie and Birdie have been friends since college, but how do you move beyond the friendzone when they’ve both been placed firmly in that friend spot for six years? When push comes to shove, or more accurately, a nip-slip and froner leads to a cross country travel plan with close quarters, perhaps this is the opportunity they didn’t even know they’ve been waiting for.
It wasn’t exactly a planned Valentine’s trip to NY between the two of them, but they both happened to be headed there for Valentine’s Day. With Eddie set to meet his online girlfriend for the first time and Birdie for a Tedx talk, it just made sense for the best friends to travel together, right? The only problem is that Birdie is terrified and refuses to fly, so Eddie changes his flight to travel by train, so he can keep a close eye on Birdie and make sure she gets to NY safely. It just never occurred to either of them just how small the quarters would be on the “love train” set for NY from California. Will this make things awkward, especially after nip-slip/froner-gate. Never, they are friends after all and nothing will ever change that.
There is so much to love about this book. The texts and VM’s between Birdie and Eddie are absolutely priceless and then the section with Valentine poetry is just down right adorable. Smiling and melting to mush through the entire book, this is one of the best friend to lover stories I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Big hearts, so much love, and googly eyes over this love story from start to finish.

EDDIE: Cancel your dinky little roomette on the train. I’m booking us two of the big bedroom suites.
BIRDIE: I’ll cancel it AFTER you’ve booked the other sleeper rooms. And reimburse you.
EDDIE: Don’t worry about it. Just cancel your tickets. I got this. Round trip. I’m on the Amtrak website right now.
BIRDIE: You don’t have to leave NYC when I do! You’ll hardly be able to spend any time with your Instagram girlfriend that you’ve never met!
EDDIE: It’s fine. She’ll be fine with it. Cancel your tickets.
BIRDIE: You aren’t going to stop texting me until I’ve canceled them, are you?
EDDIE: Damn right I’m not. Just do it. You can thank me later.

EDDIE: Um. Did you cancel your tickets?
BIRDIE: Yes, Edward. I canceled them.
EDDIE: Okay, because it turns out they only had one Family Bedroom from LA to Chicago. But the good news is I booked it for us. It’s the biggest room they had. The bad news is I booked it for us. And it’s the only sleeper room they have left now.
EDDIE: In related news, there was also only one room left from Chicago to New York.
EDDIE: Hands up if you’re excited! *man raising hand emoji*
BIRDIE: I am so mad at you right now.
