Kyle is a twisted, sarcastic, sadistic man and I’m totally in love with him!

There are so many undertones of devious things going on, this book is extremely exciting even outside of the relationship between Kyle and Rai. There is war coming between all of the mafia factions and the Bratva finds themselves  in the middle of it all.

Kyle is stirring the pot, so to say, and his sarcastic wit over dealing with, not only his new wife, but his inner musings over handling the Bratva is quite humorous, especially considering the high tension moments he is places himself in.

Rai on the other hand is a take no prisoners kind of woman. She’s moved up in ranks in a mans world, a world where women are nothing but pretty things to look at or things to be used, but never to be taken seriously. She hates the chauvinistic views and knowing that just because she is a woman many will never take her words seriously. The way she constantly has to hold back either by choice or by force, I feel her pain having been there many times myself.

When Kyle becomes her husband, she certainly isn’t thrilled, but she plans to use him just as much as he seems to be using her. Their back and forth is hot and thick with passion, with undertones of that hate you know will make for intense bedroom heat when it finally boils over.

This is just book one in a high intensity duet that is a true page turner.

The lull of the water, the ripple of the tide, every single gorgeous description in this book brought me to my happy place. The one I desperately needed after not being able to travel over this past year.

Amelia Wilde transported me to the ocean, a place I miss and probably won’t get to visit in the near future. From the very first page where Ashley is sitting upon her deck chair in the bright sun I could feel the waves moving under the posh yacht of which she sat, then the moment she jumped into the ocean to save her own life, and those same waters rushed up to greet her, terrifying her with their cold, dark depths I experienced that panic and terror right along with her.

Every moment in this book is descriptive, placing you right there, it takes you on an incredible journey unlike any other I’ve been on in a very long time. Amelia Wilde transported me places and the emotions she invoked were pure magic.

This is a modern twist about Gods who walk among men, based on Greek mythology, this one specifically focusing on Poseidon, the God of the sea. While neither of the characters completely appear as to what they seem, they both reveal parts of themselves throughout the story, it’s a bit of a mystery as to who exactly they fully are. The allure to know more about one another is certainly there, but also to let the other go or escape, depending on who you are which keeps the danger present and the story moving as they dance around the chemistry and each other.

Now, let’s talk specifically about Poseidon and Ashley. The dynamic between the modern day pirate and the modern day socialite is immediate, but also dark. Poseidon may have rescued Ashley from the sea, but he also wants something from her. He makes no qualms about it, but is it better the devil you know than the devil you don’t? Their passion is not for the faint of heart, hence the dark part of the romance in this tale, but it’s something that they both understand and is very consensual.

There is mystery surrounding the treasure Poseidon seeks, suspense given the to waters everytime they are mentioned and the tension between Ashley and Poseidon is high. Specifically, the chemistry when they are alone together is dark and brews scorching hot.

The story moves quickly until you realize the book is over, but the story is not…GAH!! This is the first book in their story with more to come and what awaits the fate of Poseidon and Ashley is in the hands of the ocean. Thankfully there is more to come because I need to know more.
