Submission Impossible; Masters and Mercenaries Reloaded #1
(A standalone within a series)
Publication Date: February 16, 2021
Genre/Tropes: Suspense/BDSM/Spy Romance
Author: Lexi Blake
Review/Synopsis:
Lexi Blake just gets better and better!! This newly Reloaded series is everything I could have hoped for and so much more!!
M&M Reloaded is everything I love about the original series combined with a polished cast that is better than ever, and a plot that is constructed with jigsaw precision.
Hutch was basically just a kid the very first time we met him. He sacrificed a lot to get where he is today, but his optimism, playfulness, and faith never left his personality through it all. He is the perfect match to Noelle when she shows up as a client. She is exactly what he didn’t know he was looking for.
Noelle has been through a lot in her life too. When we first met her she was an angry teen bound to a wheelchair, but now she’s a brilliant chemist who’s gained back the mobility of her legs. Hutch doesn’t see her for any deficiencies, but for the smart, gorgeous woman she is. While she isn’t looking for a relationship since her career comes first, Hutch is the perfect man she never knew she wanted.
When Noelle suspected foul play at her job her father (a long-time friend of McKay-Taggart’s) called in some favors at McKay-Taggart. Noelle didn’t feel the need for a bodyguard, but when her life is actually in jeopardy, she’s begins to rethink things. However, the relationship she began with Hutch, wasn’t part of the deal, is confusing her more than the person who seems to want to ruin her career.
What I love about Lexi’s writing is you are able to jump into this new series and start it right from this point. Lexi gives us everyone’s background as she weaves it in and out of the story. Or, for a lifelong fan, we relearn each background all over again and regain that deep connection all over. I also love seeing the old characters, now parents of these grown or growing children and going through the aches and pains of parenthood like we all do while still saving the world. This entire new world is absolutely amazing!!
Lastly, obviously the children of our favorite characters are growing up. Aside from the old cast, we are getting to know the younger cast on a new personal level and traces of their personalities sneak out at the best moments. The first secondary character in Submission Impossible that’s huge is Kyle Hawthorne (I loved him and can’t wait to see him flushed out more). He’s Grace’s son and Sean’s step-son and all grown up. Kyle is somewhat of a mystery, but also reminds me so much of a young Tag. His sarcasm comes out at the best times and while it’s also hard to get a read on him, there is a history there considering he grew up surrounded by all of the M&M men.
There are a lot of great people to meet and get to know and I’m really excited to see where this new world takes us. A more than five star read!!!
Synopsis:
He loves the sweet life
Greg Hutchins is reluctantly adulting these days. He’s settled in his job, recently bought his first house, and has a network of friends he can call family. But there’s something missing in his life, and he can’t quite put his finger on it. When he’s assigned to a case that involves investigating a biochemical company, he meets a woman who’s sweeter than any candy. Maybe she’s just the thing to make him feel complete.
She’s ready for the future
Noelle LaVigne has faced plenty of tragedy in her life, but she’s on the right path now. Between her new job and settling into a new city, she’s got no time for dating or relationships. She’s worked hard to get where she is, and no man is going to push her off track. Except the minute Hutch crosses her path she can’t seem to think about anything but the handsome security expert. He’s there to find a corporate spy, but late-night work sessions make her think they’ve both found something much more meaningful.
A twist they never saw coming
When the case becomes dangerous, both of their futures are on the line. And when the bullets start flying, they will have to learn to trust in each other if they hope to survive.
