Author: Aleatha Romig
Review/Synopsis:
It never fails to amaze me how an author can piece together a suspenseful, interlocking puzzle that all comes together not only after a trilogy, but also after a multi-story conglomeration.
Aleatha has floored me with how this plot has interlocked and overlaid to just stun me. Once again I have been Aleatha’d.
Has my stomach been turned a few times – yes.
Have my thoughts been provoked – also yes.
This is reading at its best when I’m pushed to my limits and I’ve been made to test my own personal reading boundaries.
Would I normally seek out something that has such disturbing themes – this particular triggering dark theme, probably not, but I’m grateful to have read the love that came after between Reid and Lorna, and the rest of the characters, more than I was expecting. Just like was paraphrased multiple times throughout the book, there can be no dawn without the preceding darkness.
Speaking of the overall love that Reid and Lorna share, along with the overall Sparrow family, not only for each married couple alone, but also as a whole for the group; this book displayed that it doesn’t matter if you are the good guy or the bad guy or whatever you believe yourself to be, there are two sides to every story as there are also good and bad in each one of us. How you choose to weild your knowledge and power, how you choose to love, all of that is a daily decision, as well as a conscious choice. Aleatha gave us a story that truly showed us the worst of humanity, but on the flip side she also gave us men who daily walk the line of what human laws say are bad, but in their hearts they do what is necessary to keep those around them safe and loved. That is a moral dilemma that man has been faced with since the dawn of time.
Dawn is well written and does end this is a powerful trilogy. Yes, it does contain triggers, so go into it with awareness, but by the end know it is still a trilogy that contains themes of family and love.
