Review:

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! Dark, deviant and super delicious!

Adrian sets a new high for an anti-hero full of secrets and I love him!

If you are looking for a fluffy, warm, knight in shining armor and princess in a tower story, this is not  the story to dive into. Adrian’s armor is dark and the tower that Winter is locked in…well, it’s full of secrets and lies.

When Adrian finds and asks Winter to be his standin wife,Lia, she isn’t really given a choice in the matter to say no. Winter/Lia constantly stands up for herself and pushes back, but for every infraction Adrian issues a punishment, one that Winter/Lia comes to crave, but also secretly hates.

Adrian pushes and pushes Winter/Lia for the smallest things, forcing Winter to take on the persona of his wife and giving her no wiggle room. He knows she sometimes pushes his buttons wanting his sadistic punishments, whereas other times it’s her way of holding on to her strong personality.

The shining jewel in this story is Jeremy, Adrian’s son. He’s a five year old mini me of the strong man, but completely wins over Winter the very first day she walks into his home. Jeremy and Winter form a strong bond and he helps form a bridge in their messed up family life.

Rina is a master on writing her dark words and my mind kept whirling with theories, that I never could land on anything specific. This is the first book in the Deception trilogy, so it does end on a great cliffhanger. I can hardly wait for the next installment to dive back in to uncover more secrets.

Synopsis:

My husband. My tormentor.

The most notorious man in the city offers me a job.
Act as his dead wife.

Go to prison or put myself under his wrath.
I choose to have a roof over my head. What’s so hard about acting, right?
Wrong.
The moment I step into his wife’s shoes, everything spirals out of control.

Or is it?

Review:

This was my first venture down the rabbit hole with Holly Renee and I’m HOOKED!!

The dynamic, chemistry, overall story was page turning gold and yet as I kept turning these golden pages and the story was getting closer to the end and still not resolving…AAHHH…cliffhanger!! I need resolution now! I’m so ready for more!

I was so drawn into this story, I swear I could feel the actual touch of Beck’s hands on my throat as he felt my pulse racing. Whew…he’s a totally hot villain.

Josie Vos is the new girl in town and has no idea what she’s stepping into. Her father has been absent basically her entire life, but now that her mother has passed, she is stuck moving in with him. Unfortunately she has no idea what the Vos name means or the hatred emanating from the hot boy she meets on the beach the first night she’s moved into town.

Beck Clermont hates the Vos family and will do anything to bring them down. When Josie comes to town, as much as he finds her attractive, her last name makes her a target. He plans to use her and destroy her in every way possible. He just never planned to enjoy it quite so much.

Beck is ruthless in his pursuit to bring Josie down, but whew…he’s so stinkin’ hot while doing it. Josie isn’t a wallflower who sits and takes anything thrown her way, I love her snark and the way she stands up for herself, but at the same time she’s never disrespectful to anyone else, like Mr. Clermont.

This series is already gearing up to be amazing and I can’t wait for more!

Synopsis:

Young. Wealthy. Elite. Ruthless. The boys of Clermont Bay ruled over this town as if it was their kingdom.

And Beck Clermont controlled them all.

He was arrogant and conceited, and from the moment I met him, he had made up his mind about me.

Dangerously handsome and wickedly cruel, he had no intention of letting me spend my senior year under the radar.

The secrets of old money ran deep, and even though I barely knew them, the sins of my family had put a target on my back.

He was a hurricane, and I was unprepared for the storm.

His touch fatal. His impact irreparable.

There was no negotiation.

He stole my heart. Without warning, without permission.

He was the enemy, but that didn’t stop me from falling for The Touch of a Villain.

Review – Wrecked My Plans by Kelsey Clayton

Wrecked My Plans; Haven Grace University #3
(A standalone within a series)

Publication Date: March 18, 2021

Genre/Tropes: New Adult/College/Enemies to Lovers Romance

Author: Kelsey Clayton

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:
I totally LOVED this book!! Can I actually admit to having a new favorite power couple?! Yes, yes I can.

North Haven University holds its fair share of preppy, entitled, wealthy young adults and Carter Trayland is no exception to the wealthy population. Although having this status doesn’t make him a jerk, he’s actually somewhat uniquely different. He’s a bit more humble when it comes to his friends and those close to him. And while he’s had his fair share of heartbreak and loss for someone so young, he’s been able to keep his happy-go-lucky attitude about him, and that makes it hard not to like him, especially when you’re the girl out to make his life a living nightmare.

Tye Morgan begins the school year with a vengeance for her BFF, Dami who lost her life while Carter was dating her, but it was more Jace (Carter’s BFF) who had a whole love triangle thing going on…well, you’ll just need to read his story to figure that mess out, but now Tye has a bone to pick with Carter and she’s not leaving until he’s picked clean.

Carter and Tyesen have a tied up, messed up past and even though Tye has transferred to NHU to make Carter’s life miserable, her destructive tendencies sometimes blow back on her and yet everytime Carter is there to ease her mistakes or help lick her wounds (sometimes literally, yum) because that’s just the kind of guy he is, which only frustrates Tye more. Carter is soooooo likeable he makes up for anything that happened in his past. This is one power couple that competes for Clayton’s top spot.

Their dancing around each other, devious pranks, and high octane chemistry certainly makes for excellent reading!!

What I enjoyed most, this book is lighter, definitely not as dark as the previous books in the NHU series. Tye’s pranks are quite funny and Carter takes everything in stride. His easy going attitude and hero like personality, I feel, is what lifts this entire book out of the dark mood that the previous books lived in. Not that Tye and Carter don’t circle their own angst and dark pasts, but I feel like there was more of a shiny sparkle to this story overall. Maybe it was my projections, but I really enjoyed that extra sparkle, especially on the previous characters. They deserved their hard won happy endings with lots of sprinkles and rainbows.

Synopsis:

My name is Carter Trayland,
And I really screwed up.

I should’ve ended things before they began.
Instead, I wound up in a twisted love triangle,
One that I never wanted to be a part of.

The wrong choice sent my life on a whirlwind.
A woman I forced myself to love is dead.
My best friend was nearly blamed for her murder.
And the one I’ve always wanted, now wants revenge.

Her favorite person is gone, and she thinks it’s my fault.
I’m not about to correct her either.
Not when the reality is so much worse.

She can’t find out the truth of what happened.
Knowing would ruin her in ways I can’t fathom.
If blaming me is her way of coping, I’ll gladly carry that burden.

Because Tyeler Morgan is the one girl I’d protect at all costs.
