Review:

All the Beautiful Things is a beautiful story about family, friendship, and love. It jumps right back in at the continuation of Hudson and Lilly’s story, right where we left them swimming through a sea of lies and deception. This is not a standalone as we come to the second part of this duet. Hudson and Lilly now have to navigate through the sea to discover if their relationship is worth fighting for and build trust all over again.

Lilly, who has never had a basis for a loving relationship, doesn’t know who to trust or where to turn when she wakes up shattered by the lies the Valentine family have been feeding her. However, are they really lies or just omission of the truths? She doesn’t know how to wrap her head around everything she’s experienced as the entire time she’s spent with Hudson and his family has felt like a falsity. This is just the tip of the iceberg in the second part of this duet.

Lilly really gains a lot of strength and grows exponentially as she comes to trust herself in her decision making, but like I mentioned before those lies are just the tip of a bigger picture. Hudson is the man who stands out more in this book and what we learn about him and his family. The love he had for his sister, the foster kids that came and went, his mother that he lost, and his past relationships. Hudson may seem like a man who has everything, but he’s just as broken when it comes to love as Lilly at the end of the day.

Lilly grows exponentially from book one while she makes decisions about her life and truly getting to know the man she originally was falling for in the first book. As they try to repair their relationship and everything in the Valentine family comes to light, she gets to decide if he’s truly worth staying in love with the man who was built on smoke and mirrors.

There is a lot of meat yet to uncover between these two, not only between Hudson and Lilly who have a lot to untangle before their story comes to an end and their journey is beautiful to read, but the entire Valentine family. This book is just more and in being more, it’s about the family you choose and in the long run, the family you decide to keep by your side forever.

I should have given him the truth. Anything but the silence lurking inside my mouth making me mute.
Just as I pulled the band away from his body his grip crushed my small hands so hard I felt myself wince. “We aren’t doing that here… I don’t need your pity,” his words might as well have been venom.
It was well-deserved, my body screamed: use me to bury the pain and my eyes were glazed over in sympathy.
“Bowen…” I was trying to slice through the immediate anger cocooning him when his grip didn’t let up, holding my hands still too tightly.
He looked down on me like I personally insulted him in less redeemable ways. “It doesn’t matter how damaged you are when you look at me like that. It would have been easier to just sit pretty and be the wife I don’t want. No demons except me. Now there is nothing holding me back from making sure that fake halo is replaced with horns.”
Standing up right instead of looking down at me like a silly girl who couldn’t handle his demons, his fists clenched making the wraps get even more taunt around his hands.
My mouth was still gaping open but no syllables or sounds came out. Not one word while I watched him square up to the bag hanging in its place. “You always wanted to match.”
My eyes stung with tears and I felt myself suck in my bottom lip like it was the key to holding back tears.
Hitting a small remote in his pocket music flooded his home gym, too loud to think or talk anymore.
Bowen’s fist drove into the bag over and over making me flinch every time. I pushed him to be someone to me and didn’t take into account how askewed how my expectations were.
My expectations were soul crushing.
My expectations were selfish.
My expectations disregarded trauma altogether.
I mumbled a quick sorry around my trembling bottom lip hoping that would suffice.
Few steps forward and ten back seemed to be the dance with the devil. He promised to fuck my halo into horns and now I felt overwhelmed by the need to be just as broken as him.

I’m inching up on the BIG 4-0. The gray hairs are doubling what seems like daily, and the wrinkles and laugh lines are more pronounced than ever.

A cheeky, over-top-grand-gesture, loved every moment of their soulmate finding love story!! OMG did I fall in love with Sarah Ready’s writing and this book was adorably fantastic!

Nick and Chloe take a road trip to find her soulmate, the one her grand aunt predicts she will fall in love with, the man she first kissed. Chloe is an over-the-top romantic while Nick is a deep cynic of love. Could the two have forked in the road at their deep rooted feelings…perhaps there was some forking involved…but whatever happened between them was a long time ago and now Chloe is dead set on finding her soulmate whose name is Matt Smith and not Nick O’Shea.

Chasing Romeo absolutely, without a doubt needs to be on the big screen. I could see the entire thing so clearly projected in a movie theatre and is totally romcom movie worthy. Nick and Chloe have tons of tension between all the gigging moments. Each moment only bringing them closer as their road trip spanned across the U.S. Their road trip and situations they found themselves in just keep getting funnier and funnier, while Nick was such a good sport supporting Chloe as she tried to find the right Matt Smith.

While this could be called a slow burning romance, I didn’t even notice because the book was so quickly paced with tons of chemistry brewing between Nick and Chloe the entire time. The laughs were plenty and while this was my first Sarah Ready book and I’m certainly looking forward to reading more in my future. I’m a totally hooked!

This was my first Anna Brooks novel and I really enjoyed jumping into her world.

While this was a quick read, I thoroughly enjoyed the pacing, the overall plot and all of the characters were highly enjoyable. I’m looking forward to where all of Molly and Brody’s brothers continue to take us in future novels.

Molly is the youngest and the only girl in a family with three older brothers, plus her best friend is the youngest out of five brothers. Molly knows how to find trouble when trouble is to be had. Her entire family worries about her and decides to leave her locked in a jail cell for a night when she’s made one mistake too many.

In walks Brody, pretty much returning to town after a horrible accident and staying with family while he recuperates, and who does he find locked up and needing to be rescued? The one woman he’s never really forgotten.

This adorable meet-cute is actually quite funny and I knew I was hooked not only on this book, but on Anna Brooks from that point forward. What really solidified my new found love for all things Anna Brooks is not only the injected humor, but also the love that both sides of the family showed for Molly and Brody while they worked through their relationship. It squeezed my heart at how supportive they all were. The entire family dynamic is really touching and makes the continued growth of the series something to really look forward to.

Aside from the love that was brewing between Molly and Brody, there is also a suspenseful element to this book. A mystery to solve which made this contemporary romance just that much sweeter.

I was able to read this book as a complete stand alone.

Synopsis:

When I woke up in that hospital bed, I knew my life would never be the same. Returning home broken and unable to do my job anymore, I was lost until she came back into my world.

Though I tried to deny what I was feeling, she made it impossible not to fall for her… and I fell, hard and fast. The problem? I wasn’t the only one who wanted her all to himself. So not only did I have to protect her from a man intent on doing her harm but I also had to tell my brother we were in love with the same woman.

It’s been quite a journey to see the progression of how Finley’s grown not only emotionally and physically, but in her magical skills and in her deep love with Carrick. Over the past five books Finley has journeyed to new lands, met new creatures, already battled to save her life and those were nothing compared to what she has to face as Finley’s destiny is finally coming to a close. The prophecy is drawing nearer with a battle to end all battles. Will there be enough time to gather forces to help their cause before doomsday arrives?

Finley and Carrick are soulmates and while we know they have found each other time and time again for hundreds of years, will they continue to do so? Will this time be different?

We get a lot of closure to everything that has happened leading up to this final book, while also leaving a couple doors open making me wonder if interconnected books will be in the future. Finley and the whole gang adventure into new realms and we meet a few new people before it leads up the epic battle. There are more unique twists than I was expecting which made for very exciting reading.

There are so many interlocking pieces that have to be pieced together before the end and Sawyer made the entire puzzle fit masterfully.

The perfect addition to an already amazing series with feeling, smolder, and facing the ghosts of your past. It’s bittersweet as we reach the end of a fantastic series, but also filled with so much love and heart it couldn’t have ended any better.

In the return to Hawk Valley we finally get Makenna and Colt’s story and it’s everything I could have hoped for in waiting for their story. These two have been dancing around each other for years and the question that even their best friends pondered is if they didn’t end up together, then who exactly were they waiting for?

When Colt first moved to town he wasn’t there long before he knew Makenna was the woman for him. While, he knew she wasn’t ready, he wasn’t exactly ready back then either, but time has passed for them both and while Colt is a patient man he’s finally making his intentions known. Unbreak my heart…anyone else hear this soulful Toni Braxton song in their head? No…just me? Okay…I’m so ready to have my broken heart fixed by this soulful story.

Maya Hughes has written the best trilogy of her career. I’m throwing that out there first. This couple has thrown me over the literary edge, stabbed me full of angsty feelings, and left me a blubbering mess over and over and yet I couldn’t wait to find out what happened to these two people who desperately needed their happily ever after! P.S. The Hate of Loving You is full of the aforementioned, but so darn worth reading every moment of it.

At the beginning of this book, Keyton and Bay are like two rusty cogs who are stuck in their pain and hurt, unmoving from where their past has left them. It’s soul crushing, truly soul crushing to watch them struggle. However, as the rust begins to drop off their cogs and their relationship moves forward, they discover that with the success of their careers spending time a relationship is nearly impossible. Is it really too late for them?

Finding any spare moment they can, between Keyton’s games and traveling, Bay’s studio time, promotions and tour schedule they relearn one another. It’s been a decade since Dare first heard Bay singing in her backyard and they’ve come a long way from those two teenagers, but are they really ready for anything more?

There are so many moments that highlight how perfect these two are together, showing growth for both Bay and Dare/Keyton. While I wanted to weep at the six years they had lost, it was also a time where they gained experiences as a young adult in their careers and who they spent time with, travelled with, etc… which really shapes them into who they have now become.

Some of the best moments in this story, aside from steamy times, were Fulton U pop up moments. All the interconnections were fantastic and I couldn’t have been happier with how the entire book wrapped up. Don’t wait, if you haven’t read the first past of this trilogy yet, start it now so when The Hate of Loving You comes out you will be ready.

So amazingly good, I was smiling through the entire book. I read it from cover to cover and didn’t put it down until I was finished.

Gabe is confident, charming, snarky with just a hint of sassy that made him so darn likeable I couldn’t imagine anyone in his life not liking him or even saying no to whatever he asked for. What makes him even more likeable is that he’s not arrogant or bossy, he’s energetic and carefree while also being pulled together and organized. I want him on my side and totally as my friend any day of the week because Gabe’s energy is completely infectious and I’m totally in love with him.

Marcus is almost the complete opposite of Gabe in that he’s controlling, a complete workaholic, wears a perpetual scowl and knows that his only long term relationship has ever been with his work. While he’s drawn to Gabe and his confident, charming attitude, deep down Marcus knows in the long term, it would never work between them. The age gap alone would worry him, but it extends further than that as he actually gets to know the vibrant man. The closer he gets, the more he wants, and Marcus knows he has to cut ties before he gets too deep.

I was not prepared for how thoroughly I enjoyed this book on a different level than Ella’s other books. Yes, it’s interconnected to Ella’s other books, with some of the same characters popping in, but the last book I read had a whole suspenseful edge to it. While I should really know better than to judge a new book and hold it to those same guidelines, Bad Intentions is just amazingly different in a totally awesome way. It’s witty, and steamy, and full of such charm and passion, I loved reading every page of this book and I’m going to be really sad when the duet comes to an end.

Everytime Marcus was grumpy or grouchy, Gabe basically turned that frown upside down (not literally since I’m not sure Marcus knew how to smile, but in the sense that Gabe was charmed by Marcus’ personality). These two were each others’ yin and yang. I was charmed by Marcus’ grouchy because Gabe was…well, he just made everything delightful. I desperately need a Gabe in my life. ❤ Basically, everyone could use a Gabe in their life and the world would be a better place.

She worked in a shithole diner and probably lived in a shithole place when she was the daughter of a state judge, probably grew up in private schools with a Mercedes gifted to her on her sixteenth birthday and more money than my own parents had. This shouldn’t be her life.
She’s better than this. Better than her circumstance and I believe her. She just needs someone to help.
The memory of Melissa’s pleading eyes made me squeeze my own eyes shut. “Fucking bleeding heart.”
Since she could walk, she had a calling to save everything from kittens and frogs and turtles in the road to classmates and children where she worked.
One last request. Promise me.
I’d wanted to throttle her slim, pale throat.
I gripped the door handle and scowled at the silver-plated handle, before I threw it open.
“Happy now?” I asked, and somehow, I knew she was.
Lilly was still in the back when I entered. Where Dad said she always stood, there was an old laptop with notebooks spread open. I took the seat at the far end and waited, snagging a menu from the counter on my way.
The food was cheap, basic diner food, perfect for the clientele a place like this brought in. Greasy, thick burgers, patty melts, and Reubens. Sandwiches and burgers and two salad options.
It was late enough none of it appealed to me. Probably why my dad came for the pies.
Fortunately for me, he’d said they were the best he’d ever tasted, and I’d inherited his sweet tooth.
The creak of old, squeaky door hinges rang out and I lifted my head.
Lilly came out carrying a tray stacked with food, focused on the four-top. I didn’t move for fear of distracting her. Not a great first impression to make if she ended up covered in grease and condiments.
The guys at the table did more shoulder-slapping, whooping and hollering like they were watching the Super Bowl and not their food being delivered. I kept my eyes on them, waiting for one to give me a reason to put an end to all of them. The dark-haired guy would be first. He sat at the outer edge of the booth and as Lilly leaned forward to deliver a tray to the guy next to him, his hand hovered inches from her backside.
The blond across the table egged him on with a nod but she stood back, put space between them, and barked, “Even think of touching me and none of you are leaving with your dicks still attached to your body.”
“Oohh. I’ll show you mine happily,” one said, hands dropping to his lap.
She glared at him, resting bitch face I was certain she learned in prison firmly in place. It didn’t look right on her. Too hard. Too forced.
What would she have been like as a smiling, happy teenager before life was stolen from her?
Damn it. I felt it then. That pull my dad had when he first saw her.

He lifted a brow. “Are you going to actually be helpful now or not?”

She loved every single thing about this petting zoo.

“Oh, I’m not going anywhere,” she told him. “I’m definitely going to help.”

He sighed.

Feeling suddenly lighter and happier than she had in a long time—and that was saying something as she was generally light and happy, not to mention on her way to Paris soon—Charlie turned back to the animals.

“Okay, now that we know each other better, how about you all be sweet and head back to the barn?”

Not one animal even looked at her.

“Hey, Stan?” she called to the big goat. “You’re clearly a leader. How about you show me that you can do some good with all that staunch determination and lead everyone back to the barn?”

“You can’t be serious,” the guy said. “Talking to them isn’t going to work.”

“Talking is what I do.”

“No kidding.”

She just lifted a brow. “So what should I do instead?”

Maybe he could give her an opening for charming him into putting that very nice, smirky, sarcastic mouth against hers and…

“Nudge ’em,” he said simply.

Now she blinked at him. “What?”

“Nudge them,” he said again.

“Just… nudge them? As in, push them?” She narrowed her eyes. Were they talking about goats? Or were they maybe talking about grumpy farmers who needed more than a subtle flirtation to make a move?

“Sometimes that’s all they need.”

Okay then. She was going to keep that in mind.

“So…” He nodded toward the goats.

She blew out a breath. Okay, so for right now, they were talking about goats.

Charlie approached the smallest of the animals. He—or she—looked up at her. “Hello, I’m Charlotte. Would you please accompany me across the street back to your barn?” She heard the man’s snort even from a distance. That made her smile even though she was still stuck with the problem of herding goats.

The goat, of course, didn’t move a step.

“I would very much enjoy it if you would grant me the pleasure of your company across the street at your barn,” she told the goat.

This time the goat didn’t even lift his head.

Charlie propped a hand on her hip. “I don’t feel that we know each other well enough for me to actually put my hands on your body, so it really would be easier if you would just head in the general direction of your barn.”

“For fuck’s sake.” Suddenly the man was back beside her.

He bent and lifted the goat, and Charlie couldn’t help but think this had worked out very well.
She hadn’t had to touch the goats, but she hadn’t been entirely unhelpful to him.

Okay, that wasn’t true. She had been completely unhelpful to him. But she hadn’t left him out
here with the goats alone.

The man pivoted and pressed the goat to her chest. Instinctively her arms went up and around it. He let go.

And just like that, she had her arms full of goat.

Charlie gasped, partially in surprise and partially because it only took her a millisecond to think about the fact that she now had a barnyard animal up against her Alex Perry cocktail dress.

“You have to be kidding,” she said to the man.

“When nudging doesn’t work, sometimes you have to get hands-on.”

Charlie blew out a breath. She was tucking that away in her idea of how to handle him too. But she was preoccupied at the moment.

And not so sure she wanted to kiss him after all.

No, that wasn’t true. She still wanted to kiss him. Especially now that he was standing closer.
