The perfect addition to an already amazing series with feeling, smolder, and facing the ghosts of your past. It’s bittersweet as we reach the end of a fantastic series, but also filled with so much love and heart it couldn’t have ended any better.

In the return to Hawk Valley we finally get Makenna and Colt’s story and it’s everything I could have hoped for in waiting for their story. These two have been dancing around each other for years and the question that even their best friends pondered is if they didn’t end up together, then who exactly were they waiting for?

When Colt first moved to town he wasn’t there long before he knew Makenna was the woman for him. While, he knew she wasn’t ready, he wasn’t exactly ready back then either, but time has passed for them both and while Colt is a patient man he’s finally making his intentions known. He’s by her side, he doesn’t play games and he will always choose her even if he only ever gets a piece of her heart. Colt is supportive, caring and doesn’t patronize Mak while she works through her past, which is totally melt worthy. He’s also bossy and dominate when the moment counts (yum), basically he’s perfect for Mak. Now if Mak will let go of her past, so she can hold on to the present man by her side.

Dialing back to the fire that changed so many lives, Mak gives us a glimpse into the first secret that she’s going to carry with her for over a decade. Not only do her secrets begin to pile up, but they layer upon her grief that began that devastating night. Even though it’s been thirteen years since that horrible night for Makenna sometimes it feels like yesterday. Even when Colt finally makes his move, Makenna isn’t sure she will ever be ready, but she’s lucky that Colt is a patient man. Unlocking her secrets one by one he may just be the man to finally vanquish all of her ghosts and set her heart free.

While Mak is skittish, and she’s very aware of her lingering grief, she never uses it to push Colt away and Colt never digs or pushes for more than she is willing to give. These two are a perfect pairing for where their hearts and ghosts are intertwined. Supportive of each other they will make your heart sing in their budding relationship.

This book is beautifully perfect. Reading the relationship between Colt and Makenna, who not only have known each other for years, but as their intimate relationship grows, it’s intensely special. They not only come to care for each other, but as their unique circle of family and friends grow it’s shows just how special having people who care about you and love you that family is more than just blood. Smolder is touching and will melt your heart.

The final book in the Burn Series.

West Golden—Fierce protector. The one.

The cocky jock I once wanted to kill with my bare hands is now the only one I trust with my heart.

In a city full of corruption and darkness, knowing who’s on your side gets harder to determine every day. Especially now that Vin’s on the warpath, passing out threats he fully intends to see through to the end. His power here in Cypress Pointe seems limitless, but there’s no time to see if that’s true. I’m prepared to make sacrifices to keep my family safe.

Even if what’s sacrificed is my own happiness.

As our circle of loyal friends becomes clear, we cling to it, because it’s all any of us has. But if there’s one thing Vin didn’t count on, it’s that blood isn’t always thicker than water.

He might just find out firsthand why it’s never wise to cross the king’s queen.
