This is Greek mythology, magic, and coming of age all rolled into one. It’s the perfect blend of storytelling for lovers of fantasy to get lost in and I loved the entire thing!

Kat – Katrina Summers – has always felt different, but couldn’t explain why or how mysterious things happened around her until she was sent to live with her grandmother after her mother passed away. Losing her mother was tough enough, but finding out her grandmother, whom she’d never met, is the founder of a small beach town and the Summers name is basically attached to everything, well for Kat, it was a lot to take in.

Her grandmother, Rose Summers, is a woman with a lot of power, but just how much power Rose Summers truly has might not be the biggest mystery Kat has to solve while she’s living in Florida. She is surrounded by questions that she doesn’t even know to ask, and her frustration grows as the secrets mount around her. Kat spends time seeking answers to her past, the town, and secrets that continually pop up, but could the answers to those things be intertwined more closely than she ever thought possible?

On top of secrets, Kat finds an instant connection with Alec Stone, a popular boy who is sweet and particularly nice to the new girl in town. Kat also finds herself in the path of Johnny Pierce who instantly dislikes her, a feeling Kat is more familiar with from the town she used to live in. Johnny dislikes Kat upon first sight and while she doesn’t understand why, she tries to stay out of his way. These two boys couldn’t be more different than night and day and as much as Kat would like to stay away from one of them, she seems to cross his path no matter where she goes.

Probably my favorite parts are how Greek Mythology weaves in and out through the entire story (I’m such a geek for mythology and folklore). Like a lot of Greek love tragedies, Kat’s story is shaping up to be one fraught with danger, peril, sacrifice, loss, and of course epic love.

Cursed is just the first story in this epic ride with lots more to come and I can hardly wait to see what happens and who is truly going to make it out alive.
