Love Not at First Sight; Soul Mates in Romeo #2
(An interconnected standalone within a series)
Publication Date: July 20, 2021
Genre/Tropes: Small Town/Soulmate/Contemporary Romance
Author: Sarah Ready
Review/Synopsis:
A visceral book that had my heart pounding and my blood racing numerous times. This wasn’t a typical Sarah Ready book that had me snort laughing, instead I was turning pages so fast that I completely devoured this thing in just a couple hours because I had to make sure this couple survived their adventure AND fell in love!
We are back in the small town of Romeo where soulmates run supreme and the psychic matchmaker, Aunt Erma, has a very high track record of predicting everlasting love. Veronica wants nothing to do with the big L word and certainly wants nothing to do with Erma’s forecast on her love life. Veronica is so dead set on not meeting the man of her supposed dreams that she runs away. She runs deep into the woods where no one, especially her soulmate, will find her, unfortunately she runs right into a man.
Sam needs to hit pause on his life, it has sort of spiraled out of control. After his now ex-business partner and ex-wife just had a baby together, Sam begins to rethink about how his life is going and where he thought he would be. Sam decides to get away from everyone and everything, but plunging into a dark cave in the small town of Romeo and barely surviving isn’t exactly what he had in mind. At least he met Veronica in the dark and if he had to go through it all again, he wouldn’t have wanted to be lost and in peril with anyone else.
With all the same soulmate quirks and destiny qualities I love about this Romeo series, I quickly fell in love with everything in this book. While my heart basically beat out of my chest the entire time, I actually loved the action and all the twists in this second book. I can hardly wait for the next person to fall in love and see what happens in Romeo.
Synopsis:
When your soul mate is the man you loathed at first sight…Book Two in Sarah Ready’s Soul Mates in Romeo series sparkles with tension and a delicious helping of swoon-worthy romance.
Veronica Diaz loves her career, her friends and the great outdoors – she has no room in her life for men. In fact, she knows there are only two types of men in the world: players and wanna-be players and she wants nothing to do with any of them.
So when a psychic informs Veronica that her fated soul mate is Frederick Knight “The King of Players,” Veronica does what any sensible woman would do – she runs.
A twist of fate lands Veronica in the depths of a pitch-black cave system with a man she’s never met and can’t see. As Veronica and Sam struggle to survive they open up, share their secrets, and risk their lives for each other. Soon Veronica starts to wonder if maybe not all men are players, and maybe she can trust Sam enough to fall in love.
The only problem: Sam is actually Frederick Knight. The man Veronica swore she’d never, ever, ever love.
In fact, she loathed him at first sight.
And if they make it out of the cave alive, and Veronica sees him for the first time, she’ll loathe him again. Won’t she?
But maybe, sometimes you can only see who someone really is when you can’t see them at all? And maybe you can only fall in love when it’s not at first sight?
