Review:

Lost Harbor is coming home, going to a family reunion, or reconnecting with your best friends. I love returning to every every adventure and love story in this world and never want to leave.

Like Alastair Dougal, I fell completely in love with Ruthie Malone. She is stinkin adorable, with her own unique quirks, a woman with a love for books, a seeker of truth and a love for history. Her best friend, Alastair, accepts her for all of her uniqueness, the same way she sees past his grumpy Scottish demenur.

She returned to Lost Harbor with a new purpose. Working hard to brush off all her past shyness, to not be the old Ruthie, she now runs the new museum and begins her quest to seek out the answers to how Lost Harbor was founded. She never imagined while seeking the truth that the little town she loved would end up in a huge uproar. Poor, sweet Ruthie as she seeks her truths, not everyone is kind, but the townspeople also unleash some shocking revelations.

While Alastair originally came to Lost Harbor seeking answers, he’s stayed longer for the people. There is something about the small town and one adorable redhead in particular that draws him in again and again. Even when his past comes calling, Ruthie is there by his side. Their inside jokes are so cute, their understanding of one another, their friendship, everything that brings them closer is so endearing….I truly loved them together.

Another wonderful hit in this Lost Harbor series, but can be read as a complete standalone.

Synopsis:

Graduate degree in hand, Ruthie Malone has returned to her Alaska hometown to catch the eye of her lifelong crush and prove she’s not the same awkward girl everyone remembers. And she’s definitely made an impression—stirring a hornet’s nest of old secrets with her research into Lost Harbor’s forgotten past. Seems the only person in her corner is her new coworker, a Scottish chef who’s as surly as he is sexy—and a close friend. Which means hand’s off.

Alastair Dougal first visited Lost Harbor seeking answers to his sister’s tragic death, but the charming town keeps calling him back, again and again. Now he’s taken temporary work and become unlikely friends with a nerdy redhead who’s equal parts quirky and exasperating. But when a nasty part of his past comes calling, it’s Ruthie who has his back—and his attention, after she reveals a side that’s less shy historian, more sensual hottie.

Busy trying to uncover old secrets, Ruthie and Alastair don’t want to ruin their friendship…until one wild beach bonfire puts them on course for a slow burn by starlight.
