Her Broken Pieces; Fallen Kingdom #2
(#2 within a duet)

Publication Date: February 24, 2022

Genre/Tropes: Suspense/Dark/Second Chance Romance

Author: Rachel Leigh

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Intense, steamy and suspenseful. The second half of this duet picks up right where the last book left off and keeps on running with page turning action right on through to the end.

Callum and Bella haven’t had it easy throughout their entire lives. Growing up in foster care and separated once before when they were young they have now just found each other again. However, as they were just as they were falling in love they were ripped apart and lost to one another once more. But this time around, Bella won’t give up so easily, refusing to believe the lies that Callum could be dead. She fights her way back to finding the truth, but her life may be the next one on the line and could Callum find her time this time to save her?

Callum and Bella don’t have it easy, that is for sure, as their love story is fraught with danger, uncovered secrets, and lots of steamy passion.

This is the second half of a book duet and best read in order to achieve the most enjoyment.

His hollow heart called to me.

Charred black from years of his own torture.

An urge to fill the empty spaces that I was responsible for when I left him.

He thought I deserved the same wrath he endured all those years ago.

I came when I was summoned.

Unaware that my past was waiting behind closed doors.

One look into those eyes that wore dark shades of fury, and I knew this was part of his plan.

With time, I started to see fragments of the boy I once knew.

Before long, he was a man holding the key to my heart.

Now that I’m ready to give him all of me, he’s gone and all that’s left is the broken pieces of my shattered heart.

Review – The Temptation of Dirty Secrets by Holly Renee

The Temptation of Dirty Secrets; The Boys of Clermont Bay #6
(#2 within a duet, #6 within a series)

Publication Date: February 25, 2022

Genre/Tropes: Duet/New Adult/Friends-to-Lovers/Second Chance Romance

Author: Holly Renee

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

The second half of this duet is super angsty and just about broke me!

While reading my husband kept sending me looks. I know it is his way of checking in on me to make sure I was okay…spoiler alert…I was not okay.

I was anxious about this book when I just read the blurb. This is Olly and Frankie and I’d been rooting for them for multiple books so I wasn’t sure I would be strong enough to make it through all the angst that Holly tossed out in the book synopsis. Again, let’s go back to that spoiler alert and I’ll add a few tears this time. 😥

There is heartache and tears and lots of devastating angst. However, with everything on an emotional scale, what goes down always comes back up and Frankie and Olly’s story is all worth the ride.

This is a book duet and cannot be read as a standalone. It picks up right after the first book and needs to be read in order for the best enjoyment. This is also book six in the series, so cameos from everyone in Clermont makes an appearance at some point or another, and while each duet can be read on their own, the series makes the most sense when you read them in order.

Captivating. Vulnerable. Agonizing. Seductive. Frankie Clermont was supposed to be like a sister to me for as long as I’d known her.

But no one knew the depths of our lies.

I had been in love with her before… before everything changed what we could be.

Undeniably connected and effortlessly infatuated, the two of us had remained each other’s weaknesses through everything.

I couldn’t afford to allow her to be my weakness anymore. I was in love with someone else. I was engaged.

But it didn’t matter how much time had passed, the moment I saw her again, I knew I would never escape her.

I never should have touched her again. Whispering her name in the dark was a mistake.

She was still everything I wanted and nothing I should have had.

We became a secret that neither of us could keep.
A devastating secret that would destroy everything.
