Explosive from beginning to end!
I was jumping out of my skin from the very first chapter. This is the third book in this high intensity series and the action never quits and I never found my mind wandering or wishing for the end. I’m constantly shocked when I’m turning the last page and Elena has left me wanting more. Grrrrr.
In this book Ava Jade’s darkness really shines through. In this day and age where women still apologize too much for basically being women and in a society that still puts gender norms on women (hello…women’s soccer just won a large settlement and the fact it even had to go that far is shameful in the year of 2022, but this book isn’t about that…) I loved the fact that Ava Jade stepped out of those roles. She never once cowed down to any man, especially not the Crows. She doesn’t use her looks or her body or even worry about covering up if necessary. She knows she’s just as deadly as the men around her and she doesn’t want or expect to be treated any differently. I totally respect that.
After the shocking end in book two we pick right back up with broken trust and twisted emotions. Ava Jade, Rook, Grey, and Corvus are all reeling from everything that has been brought to light, but their feelings almost have to be placed on the back burner to everything else happening around them. It really intensifies the pace of the book knowing they have to deal with how they feel while they also have to find a stalker and a prepare for a pending gang war.
Each Crow deals with the fall out differently, as each man began to fall for Ava Jade differently and had their own unique relationship with her. Rebuilding trust with her and dealing with their own demons takes different routes and I love how Elena sheds light on their unique dark journeys.
There are lots of dark situations that are addressed in the warnings, but if you’ve made it this far in the series than you also know what resides in each character. I loved delving deeper the character psyche’s and riding this intense ride. This is an excellent addition to this series and I can hardly wait for the next leg to conclude in this dark tale.
Favors and debts. Blood and sacrifice. The good and the bad. I can’t have some and not the rest.
I can’t have it all.
This place and these men have seeped into me, and not even my blades can cut them out. But Rook, Corvus, and Grey aren’t the only ones keeping me up at night.
There’s Diesel St. Crow, an imminent gang war, and an anonymous shadow from my past. Each one clinging to my bones as irrevocably as my own shadow. Any of them could be the end of me unless I do something about it.
It’s time for me to show them I’m not a toy to be played with. I’m not just Ava Jade Mason anymore. I am Sparrow. I am Ghost. I am motherf*cking AJ. I am the queen they’ve all been waiting for.
And what do queens do?
It’s time for some new rules in Thorn Valley, and I’m going to be the one making them.
Twisted Games is book three in the Boys of Briar Hall series and should be read after Wicked Trials. It’s a reverse harem romance, meaning the main character will have more than one love interest and she will not have to choose between them.
