I’ve read forbidden and I’ve read taboo books before, but The Wild dove into the deep end of both with a splash of controversy mixed in and a whole lot of no holds barred in any of those categories. It was a thrill ride I didn’t know I needed until I couldn’t stop reading it and while this book may not be for everyone, I love pushing my reading boundaries, after all it’s fiction and I love the escape it provides.

I’m honestly so glad I had no knowledge about what this book was about before jumping into it. The shock and curiosity of what I was reading was completely my own, with zero bias and I loved experiencing every taboo moment with virgin eyes. It gave me that little extra thrill knowing all the pearl clutchers would be saying a prayer that my wicked soul was reading such a twisted book.

I’ve have seen posts, or referrals in Webster’s newsletter where she’s talked about her banned books, but I’ve never specifically placed exactly which ones she was referring to. I know she loves to push boundaries, its one of the reasons I enjoy reading her books, aside from her excellent writing, but I can see this particular book making that list. Webster surely crafted the plot of The Wild in such a way that I will say it’s by far the most taboo book I’ve ever read and that is saying a lot with everything I do read. However, I loved it and will proudly claim the title of having read a banned book.

Are there questions as to how they truly survived the wilderness…sure, but do I necessarily care…it’s fiction, so ultimately no! I read books all the time that leave me with more questions than answers, but it’s fiction, ultimately I’m there for the love story not how to solve the worlds problems. I loved the tabooness of the underlying conflict. The big controversy that makes this such a forbidden book. That’s the story I wanted to read and I loved it.

Synopsis:
I brought them to the wilderness because we couldn’t cope with our reality.
The plan was to make a new life that didn’t include heartache.

No people. No technology. No interference.
Just us.
A chance to piece together what was broken.

But the wilderness is untamed and harsh.

The Free continues in the same environment as The Wild, while it is still is a taboo story, the entire book isn’t quite as controversial as the first one, or is it?

Atticus Knox, appeared in the first book, worried about the situation with Reed and Devon, so you know he’s a man who cares, but he also kept to himself when they both told him butt out. He’s loyal, he cares and he’s a man who will have your back, which is why when Eve, a girl who lives alone in the wild, needs help, Atticus is there to lend a hand. However, his feelings for her are something he can’t turn off even when he does everything to fight them.

Eve is a powerhouse in a tiny little body. The fact that she grew up in the wild, with no formal education doesn’t even cross Atticus’ mind when it comes to his attraction to her, it’s her resilience and fortitude that makes her more attractive. It’s the huge age gap and the fact that she’s so young that he can’t wrap his head around. He fights and fights, which is totally hot, until he breaks and dammmmnnnnn it’s fire!!

The Free is a bit lighter than the first book, but still delves into taboo subjects. I loved exploring the modernized world through Eve’s eyes, and even with all the controversy I’m sure this book stirred up, I loved how this book ended.

Does Sophia, Lucian’s younger sister, feel odd seeking pleasure where her brother could potentially see her, not really, it actually brings her a sense of comfort knowing her brother runs a safe club and if anything bad were to happen to her, he’d always step in and take care of her.

Damon doesn’t back down when Sophia enters his sights, even knowing that she’s Lucian’s sister. He’s drawn to her and her submissive side, even when she can’t admit she had submissive tendencies herself.

This is the first book in this trilogy and it dives right into the smexy end of things between the leading couple. There wasn’t a lot of build up or deep dive development between them before the clothes were shed, but there is more of an underlying story that progresses after the nekky times.

Honestly the intrigue that was just beginning at the end of the book fascinated me more than the power play between them in the BDSM club. A 4.5 star read overall.

My heart is wrecked! I’m blown away by this overwhelming, touching story!!

This is the first book I’ve read by Riley Nash and I’m reeling in the feels right now. I honestly did not expect the overwhelming depth and heartache mixed in with the love and friendship that I experienced while reading this book. I am floored by the rollercoaster ride I just went on and I am loving it!

Roman, the young man that bruised and battered my heart in the best way, is such a dichotomy when it came to his character. Roman has been abused by his older brother, who is a dirty cop, for years. On top of the physical abuse his brother emotionally abuses him by manipulating and beating his psyche down because Roman is emotionally mute. Living the life he does doesn’t help Roman’s condition and it breaks my heart on how he truly thinks about himself. It’s not until Roman meets Scout and really let’s go with him that the beauty of who he is, who he’s meant to be really shines through. I wanted to weep so often for Roman, but luckily he had Scout who, even though he’s had a tough life, shines bright for everyone around him.

Scout is such a unique individual. Living in a dumpy trailer, camming to support himself, and yet his perspective on life is always upbeat and positive. He is exactly what Roman needs. Scout doesn’t have family, except for his best friends and they are absolutely fantastic. I loved their openness and quick friendship especially when Roman couldn’t grasp that concept. Roman had been beaten and abused for so long, told he was worthless and no one would want him or like him, trusting Scout and his friends didn’t come easy. Break my heart.

The underlying plot of the book is that Scout is looking for a sub to cam with and Roman is the perfect guy. There is so much more to this book than two guys discovering the ins and outs of BDSM, but it was also a beautiful thing to read about both of them walking the path together because it was new.

I really can’t get over how touching and emotional this book is. However, it is full of lots of darkness to get to that point, but that is what made it so good. I know already that this book will top one of the best books I’ll read this year, it hit that hard. If you are looking to wreck your heart, don’t miss it.

For two blue bloods, Walker and Jasmine, are caught in their own web when it comes to The Order of the Silver Ghost. Neither of them want to necessarily be among the debauchery, but neither of them want to quit either. They are among the top of their social circle, never let them see you sweat, so backing out is just not heard of.

What I liked about this final book in the Breaking Belles series, is that it picks up towards the end of Walkers trial. With every other book in this series, it began with all the pomp and circumstance of picking a belle and some of the monotony of hanging around the large estate waiting to see what horrible task would be asked of them next. With Walker and Jasmine we, as the reader, were thrown right into the mix and this time it really does help to have a background in the series leading into this book. It really kept the book moving so I really liked jumping right in since we’ve lived the beginning with the other couples, but that is my own personal preference.

In this book we also get a new belle. Jasmine is an entirely different breed all together. She is Sullivan’s sister, a blue blood herself, and should never have been a belle, but she’s a bit of a rebel by night and debutant by day. Her fiery spirit is different in a whole new way, but was very fitting for this particular book.

Lavish Corruption kept this storyline fresh, while still keeping with the theme of the perverse trials within this secret society going. However, while breaking free from many of the traditions set up to this point, this final book was a perfect way to end this lushly rich and decadent series.

Synopsis:
Good girls don’t break rules—but for one night with him, any risk was worth it.

Walker St. Claire is my older brother’s best friend and strictly off limits. Especially while he’s an Initiate during his Trials to gain entrance to the secret society.

But after a lifetime of following the rules and being the good girl everyone expected me to be, I’m ready to break a few. Especially if it means Walker will finally turn his devilish gaze my way.

Honestly, I went back and forth between loving this book and sort of not.

The blurb definitely drew me in and I love a good villain story. The first quarter of the story was engaging and drew me in, but then the plot sort of goes off script and I was left wondering what was happening as the storyline fazed in and out.

The book is dark, I will give it that. It’s super dark within the realm of BDSM and it fits those parts of the book when it needs that darkness. However, within the whole realm of the Daphne and Apollo plot or even just the Godwin family, there are a lot of unanswered questions for this book. I’m still scratching my head on things left unsaid.

Just when I felt like I was making a connection I’d fall into a plot hole and come out the otherside with even more questions. It just left me feeling like I attended a buffet, but I still left hungry. Even crazier, with the ending of this book, I still want to read more. I know, I’m still hungry what can I say?

I’ll leave with this; for the most part, I really liked Apollo, aside from a few moments, but even then he redeemed himself in his villainously, if that makes sense. Daphne…well, I had a really hard time liking much of anything about her and I’ll leave it at that. I’m a tad fascinated by the other Godwin’s so I’m crossing my fingers that future books fill in some of the current plot holes.

Tangled in Tinsel was the perfect blend of hilarity mixed with dirty naked times. One moment I was laughing at Samantha’s antics and word vomit and the very next I was fanning myself over the super steamy dirtiness of Sam with her four men.

This absolutely perfect, holiday-why choose romance, had me laughing so hard in between my face completely flaming up over the wonderful nakkey times that it was total toss up over which aspect I enjoyed more.

Trilina captured all the awkwardness in jumping into a menage-capade on what goes where and who does what and what happens when, especially when it involves an overthinker. I couldn’t have loved Samantha more for all of her racing thoughts that made for several LOL moments. What made it even better were the men that surrounded her and their unique traits that either soothed her, brought out her sinful side, her playfulness, or incited her desires. Each man was unique and it was impossible to choose my favorite, so I understand Sam’s situation when she gets snowed in with them, I’d also jump in and take them all. Yum.

OMG!! Hottest book I’ve ever read…EVER!! Even better, this book has a ton of emotion and a great plot as well. Saying I loved it doesn’t seem to do it justice, but WOW, did I LOOOOOVVVVVEEEE IT!!!!!

There is a lot that leads up to Colin and Madison living in the same house together, but it’s not just a campus house, or an apartment, or even a close proximity that drives their story. Colin and Madison, who are enemies due to all of the circumstances that lead to their homelessness, find their new rooms while working for an adult film company. This storyline is so HAWT I can’t even begin to describe the level of volcanic hotness in this review!!!!! Even more amazing, than my kindle starting on fire, is the emotion Colin and Madison brought to the page. Their story was engaging even aside from the mind blowing naked times. Their vulnerability, their raw nakedness, and I’m not talking about their lack of clothes, it all shines through and what made this book so fantastic.

The entire Nashville Neighborhood series has had all of the best taboo tropes, but this book blew everyone else away. Aside from having MM on the page, everything other combination hit this book, and I do mean everything else. Every situation is explosive and the chemistry between- well, everyone- will warm you up during this cold winter.

Synopsis:
Colin Novak is the big man on campus. Huge—if the rumors are to be believed. Nearly every girl at Davidson University has had a ride on him . . . everyone, except me.

I absolutely love how Sara Cate has written the books of this series. Yes, they are hawt…seriously, panty melting, ten thousand degrees kind of hot, but the emotion behind the story…the thought and deep personal depth that is put into each character, is what makes each book so page-turning addictive.

I will admit that Dom vs. Domme stories are much higher in demand, so there are just not as many of those books flooding the market, or perhaps I’m looking in the wrong places, regardless it is the reality we live in. As much as I LOVE reading about a strong woman and her subservient man, we live in a world where that isn’t the norm and the consequence is unfortunately less books reflecting this kind of kink. Thank you Sara for writing this book…I loved it super hard!!!!!

Mercy is not only a book about a strong woman and a bratty man, but it’s about two people who have always felt a little lost. Honestly, I love that about every book that falls under this umbrella no matter who fills the D/s roles. There is something very empowering about the trust of that relationship, knowing your partners needs and following the rules within your own construct.

D/s something new for both Maggie and Beau, which would seem odd given she’s one of the owners of the Salacious club and Beau is the son of another. They’ve both been around the lifestyle for years, or at least been aware of it, but if anyone had openly asked them what their actual preference was between the sheets, it would have been plain ol’ vanilla. Of course, that answer would have been before they were matched up on the very same app that Beau’s father created…awkward. Yes, their lives are intermingled and it doesn’t even stop there. Did I mention that Beau’s father is marrying Beau’s ex? There might be some very good reasons that Beau is a little bratty or he might just be built that way. Either way, Maggie is itching to learn and punish the bratty right out of him.

Probably what I enjoyed the most, while you’d think it was the strong woman, it actually was getting inside Beau’s head. This was a man, while a young man, but still a man who like most guys have grown up with macho ideas of taking care of everyone and making big life plans. Yet strip away all the constructs of what society expects and he actually thrives when someone makes decisions for him. He’s still a man, he loves women, he just shines when all of the pressure if off of him and he doesn’t have the potential to screw up his life anymore. When Maggie comes into his life, and she loves control, she loves turning his behaviour around…well, it’s like she was made for him.

Watching these two not only find their way on their path to true happiness, but to what works best for them it was…okay hot, but more than that, it was really great to enjoy the journey as they each blossomed emotionally and mentally.

Family, intimacy, spies, and all the loveable sarcasm I adore while reading my favorite series. Everything right and perfect was in The Dom Identity, including talk about body positivity….YESZZZZ…and finding joy before life passes you by.

Lexi Blake has never shied away from strong women or the leading men who bring out confidence in their partner or partners. In this newest addition to one of my all time favorite series, Michael Malone and Vanessa Jones crack open body image, self esteem and how it all ties in to how a person projects what they feel and what others actually see whether they are in person, on stage, in the tabloids, etc…

It’s hard enough for an everyday person to navigate the world and enjoy the body we live in, but for people like Michael and Vanessa, who live more in the world’s eye, criticism is an everyday occurance. These two also circle what is involved being a couple in the eye of the public. Love is work for a normal couple, but elevate it with paparazzi and constant social injustice and a relationship seems almost impossible.

Michael Malone comes from a world of money, he’s no stranger to what the media can get wrong, but he’s also tried to live apart from it. Having a career outside of the oil business where the Malone name is tied too Michael sometimes feels disconnected from his blood relatives and the family he’s tried to create. Some days he’s so alone in the fact that he walks the line between two worlds he often wonders if he made the right decision, that is until he meets Vanessa Jones and sees that same loneliness in her.

Social media has given the world a way to project a very one dimensional view of any subject. People see what they want to see and let’s face it, a lot of people are extremely harsh. Vanessa Jones, also known as Vanessa Hale on screen, hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to her career. Well, she has and she also hasn’t. While she became famous with her looks, those looks also brought her criticism when it came to having a brain in her head as she sought out different roles. For her beauty, she must have used it to get ahead, probaby on her knees. If she asserts herself, then she’s a cold, calculated b**ch and has emotional issues and her career suffered. Some days being a woman is not easy. It’s lonely and becomes hard to trust those around you and Vanessa gives an excellent view into this life that many crave, but perhaps isn’t all it’s cracked up to be once you reach a high level of fame. Everyone thinks they know you, but do they really? Vanessa meets her other half and being with Michael is like coming home, until she learns the truth about why he’s with her.

Michael is hired to investigate Vanessa, initially for Julian Lodge because Vanessa is working for his wife Dani. Michael should be honest and tell Vanessa why he’s there, but once he gets to know her, the real her, he doesn’t want to chance losing her. Where is Ian’s inner monologue when he needs it, aside from the one telling him to wear a condom.

I loved returning to Julian’s world and revisiting a lot of the members there while Michael and Vanessa are visiting The Club. Plus the younger generation, like Kyle, attend The Club because they don’t want to see their parents parading around naked at Sanctum. It’s too funny to hear them talk about it and fake gag, I giggle every single time. AND, the ongoing feud and frenemy status between Ian and Julian is always hilarious.I can’t get enough of the sarcastic ribbing, so many good things in this reloaded series.

While the Malone family has been present in the last few novels and novellas, we get to know them even more along with the rambunctious grandchildren. The growing families is super exciting on every level and I wish I was better at keeping track of all the children, since I know there will be match ups within the McKay-Taggart agency or interconnected worlds. I can hardly wait to see each dad freak out when that happens.

Lasty, since I know I’ve already gone off tangent, while I still love Ian and his outlandish, yet honest, remarks “Michael did what all of my idiot employees do and fell for the client. Trust me. I’ve seen it a thousand times.” As a secondary character, it was truly Kyle who stole the show in this book. Kyle reminds me of a young Tag, so I can’t say Ian isn’t far from my mind or still my favorite, but Kyle is sneaking up on Ian. Kyle is full of the Taggart sarcasm (most likely because he is the stepson of Sean Taggart and spent time with the entire Taggart clan as a child), but Kyle also has a very similar background to those he now works with. He’s carrying a dark secret, which makes him hold back on friendship, love, deep connections of any kind, but he has these moments of honesty that are leading up to what will be a fantastic book. I can hardly wait!

Meet A.L. Woods

A.L. Woods is an author of rollercoaster romances, caffeine aficionado, and collector of Sailor Moon paraphernalia.

She lives 40 minutes west of Toronto, Ontario with her partner, Michael, and their 8lb larger-than-life miniature dachshund, Maia-whom they lovingly refer to as their ‘doghter.’

Woods can be found holed away in her office writing her next novel with a bowl of Nibs within arm’s reach. When she’s not writing, she’s likely belting out an ad-libbed song, emotionally investing in a fictional bad boy with a strong jawline and fluency in sarcasm or inventing fresh ways to procrastinate.
