He offered her a seat in his study.

“You do recall what was agreed last week?” he asked, lifting an eyebrow.

She flicked open her fan and fluttered it as fast as a hummingbird’s wings. The room was not hot, not even remotely stuffy.

“Yes.” She stilled her fan. “Sir,” she added diligently.

“Would you like to re-consider?” Behind his back, he clasped his hands together and prayed she had not changed her mind.

She peeped out from behind the pastoral scene depicted on the fronds of the fan. “I continue to seek resolution to my affliction.”

He curtailed the temptation to smirk at her choice of words. “Affliction?”

“My guilt…my naughtiness.”

Carelessness was a more suitable word. Whether her actions were anything else was unlikely to alter their arrangement. He had done far worse things in the name of king and country than leave out a vial of laudanum on a bedside table. Arsenic might have led to a far different conclusion to her fate. However, he understood she wished for penance, an absolution, and he would deliver it in the name of justice. Private justice.

“Then, be so good as to carry out my orders,” he said firmly, but in a manner of calm detachment.

She battered her eyelashes. “Orders? Please, could you repeat them?” She held her breath.

Alexander’s member stiffened, and he straightened his back ready to issue his explicit request as sternly as possible. Clearly, she desired it.

“Remove your clothing, young lady. Strip. Present your derriere over that chair.” He pointed at the elegant Chippendale. “Your feet hooked about its legs and hands grasping the armrests. Hold still while I thrash your bottom with my strap.” He reached over to his bureau and presented the chosen implement—a long thong of hide, which although soft to stroke, was thick enough to deliver a resounding whack.

She gasped and snapped her fan shut, revealing her mouth in the form of a small ‘O’ shape. Her eyes widened into dark moons.

“Yes, sir,” she whispered.

“Can we talk?” Penny tilted her head toward the back. “Privately.” Was it her
imagination, or did Caleb’s eyes widen momentarily in fear?
He wiped his hands on a dishtowel and nodded. “Sure.”
She trailed after him down the back hallway, past the restrooms. He halted in front of the office door and turned around to face her. It was quieter back here. The voices of the businessmen had faded to a dull murmur, blending with the white noise hum of the refrigerator case at the end of the hall.
Neither of them spoke. They were standing close enough that she could see the gold in his eyes. As they stared at one another, the memory of the kiss floated in the air between them. Their fevered breaths. The way he’d moaned into her mouth. Penny licked her lips.
“I owe you an apology,” Caleb said.
The words punctured her thin bubble of hope. “I see.”
“I shouldn’t have kissed you like that.”
“Why not?” she heard herself say a little too loudly.
He flinched at the challenge in her tone. “What?”
“Why shouldn’t you have kissed me?”
The bell on the front door jangled, and there was a murmur of voices as more customers came in. Malik was out front. He could handle them.
Caleb shuffled his feet like he was itching to escape. “Um…”
“Do you have a girlfriend?” Penny asked.
He shook his head at the floor. “No, nothing like that.”
She rested her hands on her hips. “Did you not mean to do it? Am I supposed to believe it was some sort of accident? That you tripped and fell onto my face?”
“No, of course not, I—”
“Because I’m trying to understand why you’d do something like that and then run off and leave me standing there. And why you’re apologizing now for kissing me instead of for running off.”
“I’m sorry for that part too,” he said quietly.
“It wasn’t very nice.”
“You’re right, it wasn’t. I’m sorry.” God, he was beautiful when he was being contrite. It made it impossible to think straight.
Penny stared at his collarbone, which was also stupidly attractive, but not quite as distracting as his face. “So why did you do it?”
“Run off? Or kiss you?”
“Both. Either. Why are you being so weird about all of it?”
“Um.” He shifted his weight, lowering his eyes to the floor. If she hadn’t been standing between him and escape, he might have actually bolted like a horse.
She crossed her arms. “Did you not want to kiss me?”
“No, I…” He trailed off, rubbing his palms on his thighs.
Penny waited. She was prepared to wait all day if that was what it took.
He looked up. “I’ve wanted to kiss you for a long time.”
That stopped her in her tracks. “W—what?”
His eyes looked into hers. “You heard me.”
Something burned in her chest, constricting her voice to a whisper. “But you don’t even like me.”
“That’s not true.” He looked pained.
How long was a long time? Since last summer when he’d started working here? Did that mean—could she have been dating Caleb instead of Kenneth? She tried to picture it. Caleb asking her on a date, taking her out to dinner. Smiling across the table as he tried to charm her, hoping for a goodnight kiss at the end of the evening. She couldn’t even picture the smiling part, much less the rest of it.
She tried to clear her throat and made a choking sound instead. “You acted like you didn’t like me.”
“I was trying to keep my distance.” His expression turned reproachful. “You had a boyfriend.”
“Who was a cheating jerk. Which you could have told me at any time.” If Caleb had ever given her even the slightest hint he was actually interested in her, she would have dropped Kenneth like the flaming bag of dog poop he’d turned out to be.
“I was afraid you’d hate me if I was the one to tell you.”
Literally, it was impossible to believe this man who’d barely acknowledged her existence had actually been attracted to her all this time. It was inconceivable, and not in the Princess Bride sense of the word.
And yet…he had kissed her. It hadn’t been a half-hearted kiss either. That was a serious kiss he’d given her. Deadly serious.
Penny swallowed. “I don’t have a boyfriend anymore.”

Teaser/Excerpt – Six of the Best Anthology; Petticoat Tyrant

Petticoat Tyrant by Vanessa Brooks.

only found in Six of the Best Anthology

His hand roved the expanse of her curvaceous bosom. Her attempt to stay his hand resulted in a slap to her thigh. She squeaked but acquiesced to his explorations without further interruption until he lowered the front of her gown and freed her breast. His mouth latched onto a puckered nub as he suckled her budded nipple. She groaned then appeared to recollect her surroundings, struggling she castigated him about the impropriety. He slapped her thigh a little harder this time. She retaliated with a sharp smack on his cheek.

In an instant he had her face down across his lap. Her velvet travel dress tossed above her waist, with no hoop to contend with his need to correct her was made easy. Owen brought his palm down with swift emphasis. He was amused by her attempt to keep silent, obviously she was well aware of the coachman sat above them but after several stinging blows she would certainly be overheard as she wailed a plea for him to stay his hand.

“I shall desist if you give me your word of promise not to withhold your person from me again. As your husband, I shall decide the propriety of any given situation, not you. If I want to touch my wife, the woman who belongs to me, then I shall do so. Is that understood, Cassie?”

“Yes,” she whimpered.

“Yes, what?” he asked with mock severity. She could not see the twinkle glinting in his eye, face down as she was.

“Yes, Sir,” she answered, sounding a little cowed. His grin returned.

“We are in accord then. If I let you up, will you submit to my desires?” He soothed her chastened orbs, now tinged a delightful pink.

“I will,” she agreed softly.

He settled her upon his knee. Cupping her cheek with his hand, his thumb swept over her full bottom lip. Eyes sheened with tears and her mouth turned down in an obvious sulk. He chuckled. Leaning in, he kissed her pouting lips. After a few moments she responded and his arms tightened about her as the kiss deepened into passion.

He moved a hand over her bosom, seeking her budding nipple. He toyed with the raised nub, this time his questing fingers elicited moans of desire from somewhere deep inside her. Gently he laid her back on the seat and pushed up her skirts.

“Bend your knees and put your feet upon the seat,” he cajoled gruffly. She gasped but obeyed him. He pale thighs parted revealing the slick pink flesh of her quim. Her clitoris peaked from between like the dark pink stamen of some exotic flower. He ran a finger down her divide, enjoying the fact she trembled at his touch.

Lowering his mouth to her inner thighs he kissed and nibbled his way to her centre, his tongue stiff as he eased it into the small portal of her vagina. She was soft as velvet but still so very tight, it would take a good few rides upon his cock to ease her small entrance. She appeared to be unaware that she was making the most delightful little mewls and gasps as her hips shifted upward to meet his questing tongue. All complaints of impropriety appeared forgot as she writhed mindlessly, enjoying his ministrations. Nibbling her now prominent pearl, he slipped a finger inside her channel; her essence flowed as he added another digit. She began to pant, whimpering his name.

“Come, Cassie, give me your pleasure.” She cried out at his words, bucking so much that he found it necessary to hold her down as he lashed her core with his tongue. He kept his grip firm as her culmination ripped through her, flooding his mouth with her dew, proof of the power he had over her blissful eruption.

He enjoyed the sight of her satiated body, lewdly displayed as she fell into a comatose drowse, making no attempt to cover herself. His cock ached with demand.

New Release – Justice For Milena

Susan Stoker

Justice for Milena

Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Book 10

Release Date March 13, 2018

It’s been years since Milena Reinhardt has seen TJ “Rock” Rockwell. The last time, he was nearly a shell of a man…but he was her man…and he tore her heart out of her chest. Circumstances unbeknownst to TJ have ensured Milena’s never fully recovered.

TJ left his sniper days behind—for the most part—when he left the Army and become a respected Texas Highway Patrolman. He also left behind Milena. He’s convinced it was the right thing to do at the time, but that doesn’t mean he’s ever forgotten the woman who loved him in his greatest time of need…or has stopped thinking of her since.

Neither thought they’d see each other again, until a pedophile’s operation is taken down and the evil man sets his vengeful sights on Milena. This could be their second chance, even though TJ and Milena have enough secrets and trust issues to end any relationship before it starts. But when the bad guy closes in, they’ll have to set aside their fears and trust in each other, to save the one thing that means the world to them both.

** Justice for Milena is the 10th book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

** TJ and Milena face a truly nasty foe. While his sins are never described on the page, certain basic information is included for the characters to grasp the full breadth of the villain’s evilness. For my more delicate readers, please remember…good always triumphs over evil.

Read Kay’s Review: Justice Wins My Heart

The years had been good to him. When they’d been together three years ago, he was still healing from the wounds he’d gotten overseas. But since then, he’d healed completely and had filled out. His arms were thick and muscular, and she had a feeling if she ever saw him without a shirt, she’d see that he was even more chiseled than he’d been in the past. His brown hair was shorter than when they’d been together before, and he seemed to have a perpetual five o’clock shadow now, which was sexy as all get out.

But it wasn’t just his looks that were slightly different. He seemed even more intense than he’d been back then…if that was possible. His brown eyes were penetrating. Whereas before, he frequently looked away from her when he was talking, as if he felt guilty about something, now he had no problem holding eye contact. All that attention on her made Milena feel as if whatever she was saying was the most important thing he’d ever heard. It was a little discomfiting, but also made her feel all squishy inside.

“And did you?” Sadie asked.

“Did I what?” Milena repeated, not sure what they were talking about as she’d gotten lost in memories of TJ.

“Fall at his feet?”

“Of course not!” Milena said quickly—maybe a bit too quickly.

“But you want to.” It wasn’t a question.

“No, I don’t.” The look of skepticism was easy to read on Sadie’s face. “Look, he’s
just here because he feels guilty or something. And he might be assigned to look after me until Jeremiah and Jonathan are found.”

Sadie shook her head. “I’m sure he does feel some guilt, and he should. He was a dick. But, Milena, he doesn’t have to protect you. The Feds can assign someone else to you. There are thousands of law enforcement officers in this city. Any one of them can protect you.”

Milena blocked out the common sense her friend was using. “He’s arrogant to the nth degree. He strode into the house and practically told me I was his…like a caveman or something. He thinks that throwing money at me and putting me on his insurance will fix everything.”

Sadie shifted until she was lying on her side and her head was propped up by a hand. She was about as different from Milena as she could get. Her dark auburn hair fell messily around her shoulders and her green eyes were piercing in their intensity. She was almost five inches taller than Milena, and slender in a way Milena would never be.

“Let me tell you something about dominant men…once they decide they want something, they’re gonna get it one way or another.”
