Review – Saving Silver by Xavier Neal

Book cover for Saving Silver (The Draak Legacy #1) by Xavier Neal

Saving Silver; The Draak Legacy #1
(A standalone within a series)

Publication Date: September 23, 2021

Genre/Tropes: Romantic Comedy/Paranormal Romance

Author: Xavier Neal

Review Rating: 4.5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:
Dragons, mermaids, and genies, oh my!!

Dae was awakened to a magical world when a dragon shifter arrived in her veterinarian office one evening. The call to become his mate was strong between the two as Silver/Zilveren was simultaneously battling forces that were capturing ancient dragons throughout the city.

This is Xavier’s first jump into the paranormal world and I give her a solid 4.5 stars for tackling a new genre. The plot contained a lot of action and suspense and the chemistry still flowed between the two characters even when you threw in all of the paranormal oddities into the mix. Well done for this first jump into the fantastical realm.

I really enjoyed the different species of magical creatures that came up vs. the typical paranormal creatures that always seemed to be introduced in every other fantasy book I come across . There were also new spins on old species which I rather enjoyed as well. Once again, this showed Xavier’s creativity for tackling this new genre.

This is the first book in a new dragon series and there were several creatures introduced, like Z’s brothers. As the series progresses, the brothers and their mate matches will be intriguing to learn more about.

Synopsis:

From best-selling author Xavier Neal comes a brand-new, laugh-out-loud, paranormal romance you don’t want to miss…

I swear, one minute I’m dozing off during the night shift – don’t judge me – and the next I’m being told I’m Fate Mated to an ancient dragon.

An ancient dragon I couldn’t help but save when he woke me up out of the aforementioned slumber – again, don’t judge me.

Now this same ancient dragon – that I’m apparently destined to be with – is doing everything he can to win me over, because it’s up to me whether or not he’ll live the rest of his life in absolute agony or absolute bliss.

Oh, and let’s not forget the fact we’re being chased by elves, working with a grumpy Griffin, and have to rescue some poor kidnapped dragon before an evil corporation kills it.

Ugh.

Any chance this is all some crazy dream that I can’t wake up from?

No?

Well, can’t blame this human for asking.

Review – Mama’s Boy by Avery Flynn

57623346. sy475

Mama’s Boy; Last Man Standing #1
(An interconnecting standalone within a series)

Publication Date: September 27, 2021

Genre/Tropes: Romantic Comedy

Author: Avery Flynn

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:
So many adorable moments and crossover references. I loved the meddling family’s, fun dates, and just so many LOL moments to be had.

Even though Fiona and Dixon may have grown up in opposite worlds, they are more alike than they realize and it’s only when they spend time together, peeling back the lies and layers, that they truly discover their true selves and really enjoy each other to their fullest.

The outstanding moments came in with the blend of the large Hartigan family and the Beckett’s. While the Beckett’s is smaller, they are no less meddling in family affairs. Dixon and his cousins come up with a dare, while highly intoxicated of course, to be the last man standing in love, before the end of the year. The dare is, somewhat childish, but the Beckett’s never back down from a challenge and Dixon is by far one of the worst when it comes to never losing. He has to win at all costs, but he also sees no problem with this particular challenge. Love is something he never plans to do again so winning will be easy.

Dixon has been married and is currently a widow. He’s vowed never, ever to fall in love again. Been there, done that, never wants to feel that kind of pain again, but he also never loses. He has to win at all costs. He plans to take on this dare, six dates, no falling in love, no problem. That is until he meets Fiona Hartigan.

Why would Fiona ever date Dixon, especially knowing it’s all for a bet? She wants revenge. Dixon is the CEO of a cosmetics company and he’s dismissed her three times for a meeting. Three…stood up, dissing her, ignoring her times. This is her chance for an in to present her Nana’s products. She just needs to play it cool, help him win his bet and then she can ask him for any favor. It’s a win-win for both of them. That is until she starts falling for the man vs. the CEO tycoon.

With lots of steam, adorable meddling family moments, and the best reason of all…a hot mama’s boy…this book is a win-win-win.

Synopsis:

Top three lies about mama’s boys:

1. That we don’t know what we want. That one is straight up BS. I know exactly what I want—to win this bet with my cousins by any means necessary even if it means finding the worst possible date in all of Harbor City and agreeing to whatever she asks in exchange for her pretending to fall for me.

2. That we are soft, little wimps. Yeah, you don’t get to be CEO of a multibillion dollar company by letting other people take advantage of you. So as soon as I realize my date Fiona Hartigan isn’t exactly who she appears to be, there’s nothing that will stop me from figuring out the truth—no matter how many dates it takes to unravel that mystery.

3. That we don’t know how to kiss. Oh yes we do. The only problem is that once I start kissing Fiona, I don’t want to stop and I have to because we’ve already agreed that all of this is temporary.

Now I’m the guy that every woman wants to bring home to mom—except for the woman I’m fake dating and falling in love with for real.

Each book in the Last Man Standing series is STANDALONE:
* Mama’s Boy
* Neanderthal
* Mansplainer

Review – Last Round by Charity Ferrell

Last Round; Twisted Fox #5
(A standalone within a series)

Publication Date: September 21, 2021

Genre/Tropes: Small Town Romance/Friends-to-Lovers/Contemporary Romance

Author: Charity Ferrell

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

The beginning of Charity’s books always make me laugh, smile, and basically spit out whatever beverage I happen to be drinking at the time (okay, it’s usually wine). Aside from knowing better to drink while reading her books, Charity’s fantastically witted writing is one of the fabulous reasons I fell in love with her books and will continue to read them for years to come.

Silas and Lola are quick witted and unfortunatly friend-zoned one another almost upon meeting. However, it makes for tons of sassy banter and quirky comebacks I absolutely adore, plus it allowed for years of pent of chemistry that made this book angsty while we waited for them to practically all but combust in flames of passion.

Last Round is sadly the final book in this series, but overall it was a huge win for Charity Ferrell. The story was beautifully woven together with a great timeline that was not only a tribute to the series, but allowed each couple from Twisted Fox their own unique and special time to shine. If you’ve been here from the beginning it’s no secret that Silas and Lola have been friends, but this book takes us on the journey of how that all takes place, right alongside how each one of their friends also fell in love.

For all the fun Charity puts in her books, and I’ll circle back to why I fell in love with her writing to begin with, there is a lot of fun…she also never forgets to include all the feels and hard times that truly bring her couples together. Last Round wraps up a great series and I look forward to the next journey.

Synopsis:

What’s the best way to get back at your cheating ex?
Give every guy who hits on you his number.

That’s what I did when I met Silas.
Little did I know, we’d see each other again.

One run-in leads to another.
One fake date leads to a friendship.
That friendship leads to feelings.
But everyone knows feelings and friendship doesn’t mix.

We’re too much the same.
It’d never work out.
That changes when one of us asks for more.

Everything falls apart.
There’s no going back.
Can our friendship survive … or will love destroy us?

Meet Kandi
Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

Review – Callous Boys by Laura Lee

58684189. sy475

Callous Boys; Callous Boys of Crystal Cove #0.5
(A prequel to a new series)

Publication Date: October 1, 2021

Genre/Tropes: Reverse Harem/New Adult/Friends-to-Lovers/Dark Romance

Author: Laura Lee

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

What a fantastic beginning! High emotions with thought out plot and drama. I’m already hooked on the Callous Boys!

Andi, Vaughn, Nico and Cruz have been best friends for their entire lives. As they grew and hormones became involved, noticing their hot friend was growing boobs, and boys being well….boys. They had a friendship that they didn’t want broken by Andi’s boobs, but that they also were hoping would evolve into something more given time and maturity.

Vaughn, Nico, and Cruze made a pact between the three of them, that none of them would make a move on Andi until she was ready and showed an interest in one of them, since all three of them were interested in her. Unbeknownst to them, as they kept their feelings hidden for her, she also did the same. Andi’s feelings for each boy never distinguished between each one, but only grew stronger for all of them over the years as she wanted each one equally. In her world she didn’t know how that would work, so she kept quiet about her feelings, since it was all or none. That is until a new boy, Hunter, came into town.

Everything changed with Hunter began flirting with Andi. Finally fearing they may lose what they never had, it was time to make a move, but how do Vaughn, Nico and Cruze decide when none of them have ever let Andi know how they feel about her? How do  they threaten their friendship without losing everything between them?

I loved that this poly relationship worked slowly into what they might want. Just because they had all been friends for years didn’t mean they knew how to work a romantic relationship. Guys in general can be super territorial and Nico, Cruz and Vaughn were no different. Cruz is by far the most laid back of the three, but he also understands the value of losing time and doesn’t want to lose Andi at any cost so he’s all in no matter what it takes. While Nico has a tougher home life, at least in the thought of living a poly lifestyle, he is closer in wanting to share like Cruz is. However, he’s also all guy when it comes to sharing his toys, like Andi…sharing is hard, just ask Vaughn who hates sharing anything. He’s a total caveman. While he’s never truly had a problem when it came to their friendship, they all know within a romantic relationship Vaughn would be the most possessive, but Andi also knows deep in her heart she can’t love one boy without loving all three.

This relationship grows slowly while they talk about the logistics, reality, and emotional ramifications of really diving into it. There are some very cute and funny moments that come out of those talks because let’s face it…how does it all work and do the swords cross? LOL

There is also a mysterious, mafia element that I’m dying to know more about. There is some shady business going down within the families, so what is exactly happening?…It’s all clouded in secret with a big cliffhanger to boot! I’m so there to find out what happens as the story continues because I need to know!!

Synopsis:

From USA Today Bestselling Author, Laura Lee, comes the prequel to this new dark reverse harem romance series, available exclusively in the Brutal Boys on Devil’s Night anthology

I grew up with three boys who vowed to always protect me.
Vaughn, Nico, and Cruz started as my neighbors.
Then, they became my best friends.
And in the end, they were my entire world.

We thought we were invincible. That nothing and no one could ever tear us apart.

It’s funny how murder has a way of changing that, isn’t it?

This is the story of our beginning.
This is the story of our destruction.

*CALLOUS BOYS is a 45k word prequel to the Callous Boys of Crystal Cove series. This is a dark (#whychoose) reverse harem story, meaning the heroine winds up with three or more love interests by the final installment. This book may contain triggers for sensitive readers.  Due to mature subject matter, it is recommended for readers 17+ only.

Review – Apathy by L.K. Reid

Apathy; Secrets of Winworth #1
(#1 within a series)

Publication Date: September 20, 2021

Genre/Tropes: New Adult/Occult/Dark Romance

Author: L.K. Reid

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

I had to sit and really let this book soak in once I was finished. It’s been running through my mind over the last few days, and not that other books don’t, but this particular book was like the blurb warns…once you enter Winworth you don’t leave.

Apathy is a dark mystery, that is seeped in twisted thoughts and drowning in wicked madness. Everyone at one point or another is a suspect in the crimes happening throughout the town.

Every.

One.

No one is safe from the suspicion that is running rampant. The plot twists and winds in a way that I never could pinpoint or nail down anyone in particular and I was completely thrown off by the shocking cliffhanger. That almost never happens when I’m thrown off base, so perhaps that is why this book is still reeling in my head. Excellent job L.K. Reid!!

Skyler, for most of the story, is drowning in pain, emotional turmoil, grief, and deep, deep sadness. She is beyond what I would call depression. She is swirling in darkness for how deeply she is struggling, but why she’s suffering, we don’t know the depth of her pain for a large chuck of the book. As the pieces come together her mental state begins to make sense, but coming out of that deep pool…is it really for the best? GAH!! Go back Skyler!! She is going to need so much therapy.

Ash is a new student in their school and quickly works his way into their group. He came to town with his own nefarious plans, but is he the one causing things to implode, or could he be Skylar’s salvation? There is a lot of shadow surrounding him, but his character slowly comes to light the more we get into the book. Is he good, is he bad…there is so much to uncover!?!

There is a lot at work that I will not give away, because I loved being shocked and finding out the secrets myself. However, know this book is dark and covers some topics that may offend some readers, so heed author warnings incase that happens to be you.

This is only book one and with a big cliffy, there is a lot more to dive into back in Winworth. Welcome to the darkness.

Synopsis:

There were sicknesses in this world even holy water couldn’t wash away.

In vicious nights, beautiful monsters lay.
Some with faces known, some ready to play.
Unsure of a friend, unsure of a foe,
Be certain of nothing you think you know,

Because what once enters Winworth,
never leaves again.

Skylar Blackwood thought she knew what monsters looked like.
But in Winworth, nothing is what it seems.

Not the arrival of a stranger with eyes that see too much, and lips that taste like danger.
Not the young women who begin disappearing in the night.
And certainly not the people in the sleepy town she grew up in that begin to turn on one another.

One truth is undeniable, something wicked is loose in Winworth.
No one is safe, and trusting the wrong person could cost Skylar everything.

Trapped between the two worlds as secrets start to unravel, what little sanity Skylar has left threatens to shatter, leaving her with more questions than answers.

Turns out, real monsters are never what they seem.

APATHY is the first book in the Secrets of Winworth series with dark themes that might be triggering to some readers.

Review – Greek by Kandi Steiner

Greek; Palm South University #7
(#7 within a series)

Publication Date: September 16, 2021

Genre/Tropes: New Adult/College Romance

Author: Kandi Steiner

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

The final book in this fun loving, dramatic series that wrapped around my heart and I’m going to miss. The characters became my friends and I’m going to miss them. All the drama, all the passion and all the relationships. It’s all been so, so good.

At the beginning of this series; Jess, Erin, Cassie, Ashlei, and Skyler all became greek sisters at PSU and began the journey into a deep friendship and a bond of sisterhood that would lead them into heartbreak, self discovery, relationships that would work, relationships that wouldn’t work, ups and downs, fights, job paths, etc… It all comes down to this final semester when you know real life is right around the corner, will everyone survive?

Jess was left with a choice when the last book ended. She was happily in love with Kade when Jarrett came back into her life. Jarrett was her first love, but her shattered her heart. Kade was the boy who was there when she was at her lowest and made her believe in love again. She has a decision to make over two men, because she does love them both, but she can’t keep them both. I love how this story played out and that Jess took her time to really think about the over all ramifications of her decision. This particular story always pulled at my heart and really tore me up, so I couldn’t be happier.

Bear and Erin had the biggest hurdles to overcome throughout this entire series and I adore them as a couple. I love how they both have grown as individuals and in their relationship together. They make each other stronger and through their support of one another they have blossomed into one of my favorite couples.

Adam and Cassie was one of my favorite couples from the beginning of this series, but this last semester proved to be once again one of their hardest. As Adam was working in another state the long distance was putting a strain on their relationship, would it survive Cassie’s final semester at PSU?

Ashlei suffers a huge setback in her pole class, but the rest of her life is actually pretty amazing. Of all the girls Ashlei kind of has her life together. She has a great job and a great guy…could things get better? They just might for the girl who had a rough start at the beginning of this series.

Skyler who was riding the top of the world with a great guy, won second place in a poker tournament, and was now the president in the greek house her world was falling apart. She didn’t know how to forgive Kip when he didn’t know how to apologize. Her life was in shambles, but she also didn’t know how to move on without the most important person in her life.

With this series coming to a close I’m really going to miss them and all the drama. I’m going to wonder what has happened as they’ve aged five or ten years from now. Perhaps there will be a reunion special. One can only hope.

Synopsis:

The epic conclusion to the Palm South University Series…

Sisterhood is forever, but can it survive life’s biggest curveballs?

Erin fights for justice while Bear continues to fight his demons in order to be the man he wants to be for the woman he loves. Skyler considers what will come after graduation — and whether or not Kip will be a part of the plan. Cassie and Adam navigate their newfound long distance relationship, and find the path to be bumpier than expected.

Meanwhile, a shocking accident has Ashlei facing the biggest challenges of her life — while Jess has to decide which brother she wants in hers forever.

School is almost over for this university crew, but the drama has just begun.

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

Funny, entertaining, and disturbing, but all in the best way possible! I LOVED IT!!

Loch is pretentious d**k, but he’s also thousands of years old and a princely demon, so his attitude makes sense. I loved everything about Loch, but I’m also glad I’m not a soul that has been sent down below for him to torture. His job is to literally punish evil and wicked souls and he thrives off of it, maybe not as much as likes to slake his lust, but a lot of times they go hand in hand, so that is a bonus of his job.

Loch’s attitude and lack of human morals really make sense when he is summoned to earth, but the more I got to know Loch those human morals we sometimes hold so high, well, honestly they start to grey. He may not be prince charming or even a white knight, but I would definitely put him in the anti-hero or dark knight category. Loch is protective of those who fall within his orbit, and while he certainly has zero filter and doesn’t understand a lot of human ways, he has a ton of character growth. Loch is like a bumbling toddler in manners with a crazy high libedo in the bedroom and serial killer tendencies with those he cares about who get hurt. He’s perfect!

Mishka didn’t mean to literally summon a demon into her life, she was both trying to move on from her cheating ex and help out her best friend with her witching spells (Leena is a ton of fun as a secondary character). Mishka honestly didn’t think anything would happen, but when a gorgeous man appears in her home and he told her he wasn’t leaving her life until they supposedly consummated the summoning. Yeah, she might feel like she was going crazy when he first appeared, but she also wasn’t crazy enough to sleep with a demon.

No matter what Mishka does Loch won’t leave and she refuses to stoop into sleeping with him. He’s crass, bold, (he’s sexy, but she won’t tell him that) and he continually says the wrong thing. However, when he stops long enough to actually not act like the demon he truly is, she actually starts liking him. What the h.e.double l hockey sticks could she be thinking? She should really start to question her sanity because they could never work. Even when it’s safe to say…she might actually be falling him. A demon and a human has that ever worked in history?

I loved everything about this story, but I especially loved how Charity twisted an old tale (yes, the oldest tale ever) into her own story. I also loved the inclusivity of love and how souls played into who we are vs. the human views we place on people. Everything was absolutely brilliant!

There was a lot of suspension of disbelief that went into reading this story, but I feel that is true with any paranormal book. The gore is high, but weirdly enough because this is a completely fictional world, the disbelief made the gore easier to swallow. However, Charity put the warnings in there if graphic violence is not your thing.

Synopsis:

Mishka
Angels, demons… the afterlife.
I’d always thought they were bullshit.
Until all my misguided beliefs were proven wrong by an infuriating, flippant asshole with horns who has no concept of boundaries.
Summoning him was never the plan, especially since I’m not willing to do what it takes to send him back.
If I’ve learned anything from Loch, it’s that preconceived ideas are usually false, and the truth is much messier than fables.
The theory of good and evil is flawed.
Nothing is that simple.

Loch
The only side of human nature I’ve ever encountered is vile and perverse, depraved and cruel.
However, Mishka’s none of those things.
She’s an insufferable, snarky creature who makes me question everything I know about myself.
The longer I’m with her in this world, the less desperate I am to return to mine, which is absurd.
I am son of Asmodeus.
A prince spawned from lust to torment the damned.
The mortal realm is not where I belong.

Incubastard deals with Christian lore that does not align with the Bible. It is completely fictional. If this will make you uncomfortable, please do not read this book.

Content Warning: This novel contains graphic scenes depicting blood and gore along with sexually explicit content and violence. For mature audiences only.

Review – Romance by the Book by Sarah Ready

Romance by the Book; Soul Mates in Romeo #3
(A standalone within a series)

Publication Date: September 14, 2021

Genre/Tropes: Romantic Comedy/Enemies-to-Lovers/Contemporary Romance

Author: Sarah Ready

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

I completely lose myself in Sarah Ready’s books and I never want to return to reality. I lose all track of time and space once I begin reading and I hate leaving her worlds every single time.

Romance by the Book is another fantastic Ready hit! The push-pull, love-hate chemistry of William and Jessie is pure soul mate gold! From the time this couple first met at the young age of eight until they finally admit their undying love their story is full of all the wonderful  romcom classics that unfortunately go horribly wrong.

Romance by the Book is fun, flirty, and full of chemistry, but it also has wonderful moments of heart. Sarah writes about love – real lasting love from the perspective of the residents of Romeo. This is a beautiful reminder about why people fall in love and then continue to stay in love. It’s a story that takes a stroll down those butterfly feelings in the very beginning of a relationship, but then continues through the ups and down, through sickness and health, etc… and what it means to still be together after fifty years together as a couple. What is the secret formula to love or is being a soul mate enough? I love how each couple that William and Jessie meet impart a bit of wisdom or advice to what the secret is.

William and Jessie have known each other for twenty years by the time they both venture down this path and a lot of the fun in this story revolves around Jessie getting Gavin, William’s twin brother, to actually fall into her classic romcom traps, while William does everything in his power to keep that from happening.  Oh, there is a lot of backstory into why she wants Gavin and why William is cast as the villian, but the backstory is what gives this book all the extra feels. They both have their preconceived notions about one another, or even a fantasy, but what may be going wrong could actually be going right.

I continually love returning to this small town that is all about love. This book was a brilliant story about redemption, forgiveness and following your heart. I can’t wait to return once again and see who the next soul mate match will be.

Synopsis:

Welcome to Romeo, NY where it’s not a matter of if you find your soul mate, only when.

Book-loving librarian Jessie has loved Gavin Williams for practically her whole life. So when a psychic predicts that Gavin is Jessie’s one fated soul mate, she’s ecstatic.
There’s just one itty bitty little problem.
Gavin’s engaged to marry another woman.

What’s a book lover to do? Easy. Check out dozens of romance books, study the (totally realistic) way characters fall in love, and make a foolproof plan on how to win her soul mate (in one week).
Meet cute? Check.
Dance under the stars? Check.
Kiss in the rain? Check.
Romance books don’t lie – it’ll all go perfectly.
Except, there’s another problem. Gavin’s twin brother: William Williams IV.

Jessie has hated William for as long as she’s loved his brother. William is grump to Jessie’s sunshine, stand-offish to her extrovert, cold to her warm. And when William learns of Jessie’s plan to derail his brother’s engagement he swears that he’ll do anything to stop her.
But after William and Jessie (unwillingly) share a dance…a romantic dinner…a kiss…Jessie starts to wonder, is William actually her soul mate? Or is this just another one of his games?
She can’t tell, because this romance definitely isn’t going by the book.

Romance by the Book is Book 3 in Sarah Ready’s Soul Mates in Romeo Romance Series.

Chasing Serenity, an all new steamy and emotional opposites attract stand-alone from New York Times bestselling author Kristen Ashley is available now!

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Ashley brings a new novel in her River Rain series…

Excerpt

Considering the fact he’d brought in a coffee for his buddy, Rix, who managed the store, Judge was down on the floor where Rix’s office was, not on the top floor where his was, so he saw her when she walked into the shoe section.

He’d dated Meg.

And before Meg, there was Jess.

And before Jess, there was Kimberly.

They all had different color hair, Meg and Jess were tall, Kim was not.

But even so, Judge had a type.

He knew it.

And that woman who’d strolled up to the shoe displays?

She was his type.

Multiplied by a thousand.

Christ, she was beautiful.

And bad news.

He could tell that last by the outfit, including her ridiculous, high-heeled booties.

He’d worked at River Rain Outdoor stores for nine years—starting as a sales associate when he was still going to college and advancing to director of the Kids and Trails program.

In all that time, he didn’t think he’d ever seen a woman walk into any of their stores wearing shoes like hers.

And when he came down again a half an hour later to hit Rix’s office to make some copies because the copier in the corporate offices at the top level was busted, he noticed she was still there.

He also noticed he had further evidence she was bad news.

That evidence?

The sheer number of boxes of boots that she was trying on scattered around her.

She looked like she’d not set foot on a hiking trail in her life.

And she looked like she was there because she’d already trolled through all the boutiques around the square, but this hadn’t assuaged her shopping fix, because nothing really did.

Therefore, there was a possibility, after making a member of staff bring her fifteen pairs of shoes, she’d walk out not buying anything.

She’d do this not thinking a thing of it.

However, he noted some of the boots she was trying on were riding boots, and Judge could see that round ass of hers in the saddle on top of a horse.

Wearing a riding habit.

Even if she was trouble, and he had not the slightest interest (or he was telling himself that), he couldn’t keep his eyes off her.

Because he was a moron.

That said, she caught his gaze every time.

So he was looking.

But so was she.

His instincts proved true when he came down for the third time with more to copy, and he again walked through the shoe section to get to the office in the back. Doing this close to where she was seated, still trying on boots, because, yes, in the fifteen minutes between then and now, he had not stopped being a moron.

And again, she caught his gaze.

He had no clue why, but as her gorgeous hickory brown eyes hit his, he muttered, “Nice booties.”

Her back shot straight, and she demanded, “What did you just say?”

I can’t have Elijah Iverson.

I can’t have him because he’s my older brother’s best friend. I can’t have him because I broke his heart five years ago; because he’s now engaged to someone else—someone kind and dependable who deserves his whiskey eyes, his soft mouth, his fierce intellect.

I can’t have Elijah because I’ve chosen God instead.

The Bell brothers, though . . . well, we don’t exactly have the greatest track record with vows. But I’m determined to do this monk thing right—to pledge myself to a cloistered life and spend the rest of my years in chastity and prayer. But now Elijah’s here. He’s here and he’s coming with me on my European monastery road trip, and between the whispered confessions and the stolen kisses and the moments bent over an ancient altar, my vows are feeling flimsier by the day.

And vows or not, I know in my heart that it would take more than a good and holy monk to resist Elijah Iverson right now. It would take a saint.

And we all know that I’m no saint.

(This is the third full-length standalone in the Priest Collection, featuring Father Bell’s brother, Aiden Bell. You do not have to read Priest or Sinner to read Saint.)

Rich. Vicious. Vengeful. Forbidden. The Boys of Clermont Bay had always been untouchable.
And Carson Hale was the worst of them all.
He was pretentious and a player, and he had hated me for so long I forgot that we were ever anything more than enemies.
Brutally beautiful and savagely heartless, his only plan was to ruin everything I loved.
But dares were made, and even though I had no business saying yes, I found myself in trouble and forced to work with my rival to get us out of it.
He had always been cruel, but something changed.
The lure of him was too much. The way I craved his touch was unbearable.
Just as I fell for him, he proved himself to be exactly who he had been all along.

Excerpt

I walked into Wings and Things and spotted Eli as soon as I made it through the door. He smiled before standing and coming to meet me. I couldn’t tell if anyone else was already at the table, and I tried to remind myself that I shouldn’t care. Tonight was about having fun and getting to know Eli.
Carson didn’t matter for either of those things. I would just drown him out and pretend he wasn’t there. That was what I was used to doing. That was what the two of us had been doing for years.
Even though I was already a little but irritated that Eli hadn’t offered to pick me up. My dad was irritated by that fact too.
“You look beautiful.” Eli grinned before pulling me into a hug.
“Thank you.” I breathed in the scent of his warm cologne, the smell familiar and calming. “You look nice as well.”
I looked up at him as he let me go. He was much taller than me, although shorter than Carson, and he had a smile that made me feel comfortable.
He grabbed my hand in his and led the way back to the table. I fixed my hair while I was still blocked from view, and I planted the best smile I could manage on my face as he pulled out the chair for me that was directly across from Carson.
“Thank you.” I settled into my seat and tried to avoid making eye contact with Carson.
“Allie, this is Kimberly. Kimberly, Allie. I think you all might know each other.”
I looked across the table at Kimberly, and of course I knew her. We had gone to school together since grade school, and I had hated her almost as long. She was popular, conceited, and a perfect fit for Carson.
“Of course.” I nodded and pulled out my menu. “How are you, Kim?”
“I’m perfect.” She giggled and looked over at Carson. His hand disappeared under the table, and even though I couldn’t see it, I knew that his hand probably rested on her thigh.
I wanted to rip it off.
“Awesome,” I mumbled and tried to focus on the menu.
Carson laughed under his breath, but I ignored him.
“What are you getting?” I looked to my right where Eli sat. “Do you want to share some wings?”
“Oh.” He looked up from his menu. “I was thinking about getting the burger.”
“A burger at a wing place.” Carson scoffed and tossed his menu down on the table. “I’ll share an order with you, Allie. Kim’s getting a salad.”
He didn’t give me time to answer. As soon as the waitress came to our table, Carson opened his mouth. “My girl Allie and I are going to share a large order of wings, extra ranch for both of us. No carrots. She hates those.”
I looked at him like he had lost his mind because I was pretty sure that he had.
“What can I get you to drink?” The waitress was now looking at me.
“Um, just a Coke, please.”
Everyone else ordered their food, and I fidgeted with my hands under the table.
“So, Allie, how is school going for you?” I looked up at Eli. I had almost forgotten he was there.
“It’s all right. I’m so ready for fall break, though.”
“Me too.” He nodded. “Are you going anywhere? My family is taking a trip to Europe.”
“No.” I almost choked on the word. Sometimes I forgot just how far apart my family was from those who went to Prep. They were made of money, old money to be exact, and guys like Eli had never had to think about working or how he’d pay for college. “We typically stay home and do a Thanksgiving meal at our house. It’s real low-key.”
And my dad would still be working every day except for Thanksgiving, and my small house would be busting with people. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins. We were always together on holidays, and I loved it.
It may not have been Europe, but it was ours.
“That’s cool.” He nodded and turned his chair to where he faced me better. “We’ve been going to Europe for years now. My parents love it, and they take us about every other year. Have you ever been?”
“To Europe?” I shook my head, and suddenly I felt ridiculous. “No. The farthest I’ve been is Disney World.” I didn’t mention that had been almost ten years ago.
I could hear Carson and Kimberly talking across from us, and I hoped he was too enthralled with her and her perfect face to even consider listening to our conversation.
Eli laughed like I had just told a joke, but I hadn’t. “That’s too bad. I bet you would really like Europe.”
“What makes you think that, Eli?” Carson was leaned back in his chair with his arm resting on the back of Kimberly’s.
Eli laughed nervously and looked between me and Carson. “It’s Europe.” He shrugged his shoulders.
“But you don’t know anything about Allie specifically that would make her love Europe, correct?”
Eli opened his mouth, but Carson continued.
“Like you have no clue that she’s been dreaming of going to Paris forever, and she has this little Eiffel Tower key chain that she’s had on her set of keys since she’s had them. Or that she thinks she’s part Irish because she has a little bit of green in her eyes.”
“I didn’t realize you knew so much about her.” Eli was no longer aloof. He was sizing Carson up, and I wasn’t here for a pissing contest.
“Well, now you do.” Carson stared back at him with the same unrelenting gaze, and I felt like I was going insane.
Carson hadn’t given a shit about me since that night he needed me and I wasn’t there. If he wasn’t ignoring me altogether, he was making me wish he was, and now all of the sudden, he wanted to share wings and spew facts about me like he was my best friend.
“Stop,” I hissed. “You’re being an ass. Aren’t you supposed to be on your own date?” I looked over at Kimberly, and she looked uncomfortable. I couldn’t blame her. I felt uncomfortable too.
The waitress arrived back at our table with food in hand, and we were spared from whatever Carson was going to say next. He looked down at the food, and his bright eyes looked so hollow. He scrunched his brow, something he always did when he was upset, and his jaw stiffened. I didn’t know if he was angry with me or with himself.
But I didn’t want to find out. I quickly grabbed a wing from our plate and took a huge bite. Sauce dripped down my chin, but I didn’t stop. The food was a distraction. If we were eating, then we weren’t talking, and I couldn’t stand to hear anything more from Carson right now.
Not after everything he just said. Not with the way he had brought up memories of me like it wouldn’t mess with my head.
“This is good.” I wiped at my mouth with the back of my hand. “Do you want a bite?” I looked over to Eli, and he shook his head as he looked at my half-bitten wing.
“Nah. I’m good.”
“Suit yourself.” I shrugged as I looked down at his measly-looking burger.
“I’ll take one.” Carson reached forward, his fingers wrapping around my wrist, and he stood in his seat enough to bring my hand to his lips. I stared at him, shocked by what he was doing, but there wasn’t an ounce of shame in his gaze.
He didn’t look away from me for a second as he bit down into the wing I was still holding, and I couldn’t stop myself from holding my breath as his lips met my fingers. Carson Hale wasn’t just taking a bite of my chicken. He was causing a scene, and part of me wondered how he had gotten so damn good at it.
He ran his tongue over the edge of my thumb, licking up the sauce that had dripped there, and I felt like he had just used his tongue on parts of my body that no one else ever had. I pressed my thighs together as I watched his mouth, and I couldn’t bring myself to care that Eli was watching me as Carson finally let go of my hand and settled back into his seat.
“You’re right, Allie. That’s absolutely delicious.” He licked his lip before picking up a wing of his own, then began eating like that display hadn’t just happened.
I picked up my napkin, quickly dropping my gaze to my lap as I wiped my hands, but I couldn’t get the feel of him off. And I didn’t know if I wanted to.

Excerpt

After two days as his bodyguard, I was ready to throttle my principal my own damn self.

I was also covered in more sweat and filth than I’d been on my worst day ever in Afghanistan.

The duchess, meanwhile, seemed as pristine as the moment we’d landed, of course—and unfairly fucking gorgeous, not that that mattered. But then again, he hadn’t been the one schlepping all of the supplies on and off buses, up and down half-broken stairs, and into a stifling storage room at the back of the small medical building where we’d be spending the next month of our lives.

No, that privilege had been all mine ever since he’d brilliantly pulled the “grandfather card” on me. It was a card he’d been slapping down at least once an hour since we’d left Tennessee.

“Grandfather would be upset if I got a hernia.”

“Pretty sure my grandfather wouldn’t want me coming home after only a day because I strained my back hauling boxes around.”

“I would hate for you to get in trouble with your boss if I slipped and fell into that rocky ditch.”

“I wonder what my grandfather would think about a former Marine who was afraid of a little physical labor.”

That had been the straw that had broken the camel’s back, as I’m sure he’d intended. You didn’t throw down a challenge to someone’s service branch like that. It just wasn’t done.

Besides, hauling his shit kept my hands too busy to throttle the fucker… or to kiss him. And that was becoming more and more necessary as this interminable day wore on. I had thought being a jerk to him at his grandfather’s house would have helped me keep my distance from him. It would be easier not to be tempted by the beautiful, successful man if he hated me.

But instead of being an asshole back to me, he was an enticing kind of passive-aggressive. He acted like he was sweet as pie while he pursed his lips in false disappointment for having to force me to do all the grunt work.

The doctor was diabolical. And it only made me want him more. I’d watched him at the gala. The adorable way he joked with the bartender and the kind manner he had with the locals were enough to attract my notice even before I’d discovered he was my principal on this job.

But he was off-limits, so I needed to shut my attraction to him down and shove it away if I wanted to stay on my boss’s good side.

As I re-entered the main room of the clinic, I heard Carter’s cultured voice speaking to Eriko, the man who’d welcomed us to the Doctors Across Continents facility in the rural town of Gelada. “No, no, getting here on our own was no problem! Mr. Riggs—oh, and please make sure you call him Mr. Riggs, because he really enjoys that—that man is never happier than when he’s useful. Carrying things is literally his favorite activity! Many a time I’ve tried to encourage him, ‘Mr. Riggs, please put down the box! That’s too heavy!’ but he simply refuses. ‘I’m enjoying myself too much, Dr. Rogers!’ he’ll say, and then he’ll pick up more boxes. So by all means, if you have heavy things to be moved, please don’t hesitate to ask.”

Eriko murmured a reply I couldn’t hear over the gritting of my teeth, and Carter laughed lightly.

“Oh, no. He’s not really my manservant, per se. More like a man who serves as… my assistant. And of course he’ll be happy to help transport any patients who can’t get here on their own! I daresay he’d enjoy the challenge. A few more notches on his heavy-things-I’ve-carried belt! He’s good for the physical tasks, not so much the…” He glanced up at me innocently when my boots made a sound on the floor. “Oh, speaking of the devil. Mr. Riggs, I was just telling Eriko that you’d love to help retrieve any invalid patients who need help getting to the center. Isn’t that right?”

The look on his face begged for a solid love tap from my fist. But at the same time, the look in his eyes—teasing, intensely intelligent, just like he’d been at the bar that night at the Licking-Nuthatch Gala—made me want to tap… other parts of him. Parts that would land me in serious trouble with Champ or possibly on the unemployment line, if my distraction didn’t land us in danger first.

I could not afford to like this guy.

“I think it makes more sense to stay here and assist you, Doctor. Remember the problems you’ve been having with your…” I glanced at Eriko with a grimace. “Digestion? I’d hate to leave you alone in case it comes roaring back.”

Carter’s eyes narrowed the slightest bit. I’d made up the part about the digestion problems.

Or, okay, I hadn’t made them up so much as transferred them from me to him.

“Yes, right,” he said, rather than correcting me. “You do like to clean the toilets as soon as I’m finished. Thank you for the reminder.” He turned back to Eriko. “Such a helpful boy. Don’t know what I’d do if he fell off the side of a cliff. Or whatever. Anyway, we should be ready to begin receiving patients at seven tomorrow morning. Hopefully we can prioritize the people who need to get to work.”

As Carter  listened to the local man, who at this point looked like a deer caught in confused headlights, I got the lay of the land. We were in a fairly large room, maybe twenty by thirty feet. The building was made out of cement blocks, which actually provided a little break from the heat of the day. Large industrial fans that looked like they were several generations older than Eriko blew from two corners of the room, creating some much-needed ventilation. Two windows on either end of the room were covered with thick iron bars for security, and there was a similar metal security door on the front and back of the building. They were currently propped open to keep the air moving. Several locals had already poked their heads in and asked if the clinic was open yet.

“The bedroom is just there,” Eriko said, gesturing to the other door at the back of the building. I glanced over at the small room, replaying his sentence in my mind until the word “bedroom” turned plural from wishful thinking. “There is a pallet on the floor for your helper.”

I tilted my head at him. Was he trolling me?

Carter’s sparkling eyes suggested Eriko was being sincere. “Excellent! I’m sure Mr. Riggs will appreciate your kindness.”

Eriko looked very pleased. He informed Carter that someone from the community would be stopping by with our dinner and we were welcome to spend the rest of the evening setting up for tomorrow’s clinic.

“We are very grateful you are here. The people of Gelada have to travel very far to see a doctor. Many of them do not have money for the bus. When you come with your supplies and medicines… well, we are truly blessed.”

Carter’s face softened. Suddenly, I could see the doctor behind the snarky duchess. “It’s my pleasure. Thank you for having us.”

As soon as the local man was gone, closing the outer door and making sure Carter locked it from the inside, Carter’s smile disappeared.

“Aw. Someone looks like he’s having a grumpy day,” Carter remarked with fake sympathy as he passed me. “What’s wrong, Mr. Riggs? Not enough box carrying for you?”

“Just thinking that this pallet looks like it’s going to hurt your back.” I folded my arms over my chest. “Might consider hitting up the med cabinet before hitting the hay, Duchess.”

Carter didn’t even turn around and look at me. He simply said, “Duchesses don’t sleep on pallets, Mr. Riggs. This is well-known.”

Ten years ago, I might have discovered the horrifying truth, but I did the only thing I could. I pushed it down and tried to forget. Tried to survive. Afraid of what might happen at the hands of the monster who ruined both our lives.

But now the truth is out, and the secret Leon has been keeping for a decade is about to poison those he loves, sending him into a darker place than he’s ever been.

Healing isn’t always easy, it’s messy and painful.

The question is, beneath all the hate, will I rediscover the man I fell for, or was he always a fantasy?

Dear Reader,

The Retaliation You Deliver is the conclusion to Macie and Leon’s duet and the final book in the Maddison Kings University. It’s a dark bully romance that contains mature content and demanding alphaholes that some readers may find disturbing. You have been warned.

Review:

I  loved how this book began. Max, was looking for justice by kidnapping the mayor’s daughter, Allie, but when that ran south he actually let her go. Max believed the mayor was behind sending his family to jail. While he believes his family is guilty of the crimes, he also believes the mayor isn’t the saint he portrays to the world either. I wasn’t quite sure what Max wanted, but I still liked the concept that he wanted to take some form of justice out on Allie, but one thing leads to another and soon these two become more entangled and feelings get involved.

Allie wants to prove that her father is innocent so when she tracks down Max she only seems to dive deeper into his world and as these two spend more time together she sees the man behind his beastly mask. His gentleness with her is so different to what he wants to portray, it draws her in, but how could it ever work between them?

If there was one thing that bothered me, it was Allie, Max pointed it out plain as day to her over and over again that she is horribly naive. I understand that her father sheltered her, but in this day and age she lives in a world with social media and she clearly has a phone and her best friend is an influencer, so coming off as clueless as she does is a hard pill to swallow, at least as often as she does.

Aside from that, there is a lot of chemistry between Max and Allie, which helps move the book right along. Also, perhaps it’s in Allie’s naivety that helps keep blinders on to Max and the mafia world he comes from which keeps that chemistry brewing.  Although it doesn’t help their budding romance for the big cliffhanger and now we all wait…what’s going to happen?? Will Allie find the truth or will Max become the monster he claims to be?

Synopsis:

“I am a monster out of your worst nightmares.”

Max Ferrara is a madman and a monster, but it’s not his scarred face that makes him a beast. He kidnapped me and tied me to a chair in his basement. He asked me crazy questions about my father, the mayor—insane ramblings about how my dad worked with the Russian Bratva to destroy his Italian Mafia family over a decade ago. Max thinks I know something about this conspiracy, but he’s wrong; my dad is a good person.

Once he lets me go, I’m determined to prove to him that my father is innocent. I have to put a stop to his misguided vendetta. But the deeper I dig for evidence, the more dangerous my life becomes.

Max tells me there are other monsters lurking in the dark, and he intends to protect me from them. Whether I want him to or not.

The scariest thing? I’m starting to think that Max Ferrara might not be so monstrous, after all…

Review – The Dom Identity by Lexi Blake

The Dom Identity; Masters and Mercenaries #23, Reloaded #2
(#2 within a series)

Publication Date: September 14, 2021

Genre/Tropes: BDSM/Suspense Romance

Author: Lexi Blake

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

Family, intimacy, spies, and all the loveable sarcasm I adore while reading my favorite series. Everything right and perfect was in The Dom Identity, including talk about body positivity….YESZZZZ…and finding joy before life passes you by.

Lexi Blake has never shied away from strong women or the leading men who bring out confidence in their partner or partners. In this newest addition to one of my all time favorite series, Michael Malone and Vanessa Jones crack open body image, self esteem and how it all ties in to how a person projects what they feel and what others actually see whether they are in person, on stage, in the tabloids, etc…

It’s hard enough for an everyday person to navigate the world and enjoy the body we live in, but for people like Michael and Vanessa, who live more in the world’s eye, criticism is an everyday occurance. These two also circle what is involved being a couple in the eye of the public. Love is work for a normal couple, but elevate it with paparazzi and constant social injustice and a relationship seems almost impossible.

Michael Malone comes from a world of money, he’s no stranger to what the media can get wrong, but he’s also tried to live apart from it. Having a career outside of the oil business where the Malone name is tied too Michael sometimes feels disconnected from his blood relatives and the family he’s tried to create. Some days he’s so alone in the fact that he walks the line between two worlds he often wonders if he made the right decision, that is until he meets Vanessa Jones and sees that same loneliness in her.

Social media has given the world a way to project a very one dimensional view of any subject. People see what they want to see and let’s face it, a lot of people are extremely harsh. Vanessa Jones, also known as Vanessa Hale on screen, hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to her career. Well, she has and she also hasn’t. While she became famous with her looks, those looks also brought her criticism when it came to having a brain in her head as she sought out different roles. For her beauty, she must have used it to get ahead, probaby on her knees. If she asserts herself, then she’s a cold, calculated b**ch and has emotional issues and her career suffered. Some days being a woman is not easy. It’s lonely and becomes hard to trust those around you and Vanessa gives an excellent view into this life that many crave, but perhaps isn’t all it’s cracked up to be once you reach a high level of fame. Everyone thinks they know you, but do they really? Vanessa meets her other half and being with Michael is like coming home, until she learns the truth about why he’s with her.

Michael is hired to investigate Vanessa, initially for Julian Lodge because Vanessa is working for his wife Dani. Michael should be honest and tell Vanessa why he’s there, but once he gets to know her, the real her, he doesn’t want to chance losing her. Where is Ian’s inner monologue when he needs it, aside from the one telling him to wear a condom.

I loved returning to Julian’s world and revisiting a lot of the members there while Michael and Vanessa are visiting The Club. Plus the younger generation, like Kyle, attend The Club because they don’t want to see their parents parading around naked at Sanctum. It’s too funny to hear them talk about it and fake gag, I giggle every single time. AND, the ongoing feud and frenemy status between Ian and Julian is always hilarious.I can’t get enough of the sarcastic ribbing, so many good things in this reloaded series.

While the Malone family has been present in the last few novels and novellas, we get to know them even more along with the rambunctious grandchildren. The growing families is super exciting on every level and I wish I was better at keeping track of all the children, since I know there will be match ups within the McKay-Taggart agency or interconnected worlds. I can hardly wait to see each dad freak out when that happens.

Lasty, since I know I’ve already gone off tangent, while I still love Ian and his outlandish, yet honest, remarks “Michael did what all of my idiot employees do and fell for the client. Trust me. I’ve seen it a thousand times.” As a secondary character, it was truly Kyle who stole the show in this book. Kyle reminds me of a young Tag, so I can’t say Ian isn’t far from my mind or still my favorite, but Kyle is sneaking up on Ian. Kyle is full of the Taggart sarcasm (most likely because he is the stepson of Sean Taggart and spent time with the entire Taggart clan as a child), but Kyle also has a very similar background to those he now works with. He’s carrying a dark secret, which makes him hold back on friendship, love, deep connections of any kind, but he has these moments of honesty that are leading up to what will be a fantastic book. I can hardly wait!

Synopsis:

A man with everything

Michael Malone seems to have it all. A wealthy, loving family. A job that fulfills him. Friends he can count on. But something is missing. He’s spent years watching his brother and close friends get married and start families, but it hasn’t happened for him. When an assignment comes up to investigate fallen Hollywood star Vanessa Hale, he jumps at the chance. She’s gorgeous and potentially deadly. Playing the spy game with her might be just the thing to take his mind off his troubles.

A woman with nothing left to lose

Vanessa Hale had big dreams that ended in scandal. She returned home with nothing but heartache and the desire to find her mother’s killer. The trail points to someone at Lodge Corp, so taking a job with Julian Lodge’s mysterious company is her best option for finding the truth. While she hunts for a killer during the day, she hopes to find some solace at night in The Club. Meeting the gorgeous, sexy and seemingly kind Michael Malone, their chemistry sparks in a way she’s never felt before, and Vanessa thinks maybe her luck has finally changed.

A love that might save them both

When Michael’s true motives are revealed, she will have to find a way to forgive his betrayal. The killer has made Vanessa their next target. Working together and stopping this monster is the only chance for them to have the real love they both deserve.

About Doctor Daddy

At forty-one years old, I shouldn’t just be figuring out I’m gay.

Especially since I’m married, have my dream job, and a cushy apartment in New York City.

But here I am.

Determined to not hide anymore, I walk away from my carefully constructed life.

I accept a hospitalist position at a small facility in Brigs Ferry Bay, Maine and start my life over again.

Ten months later, I get a phone call that changes everything.

My ex-wife died giving birth to a little girl named Lane.

And I’m the father.

Suddenly, I’m drowning in diapers and bottles.

I’m overwhelmed and have no idea what I’m doing.

Until Boaz Dixon, a nurse at my new hospital, drops by to check on me.

He recognises a man out of his element and takes pity on me.

Somewhere between feedings and naps, I fall in love.

Both with a little girl who has my eyes, and a sexy nurse who has my heart.

Boaz and Lane are my perfect forever.

That is, until a life-changing phone call from back in New York threatens our future together.

In order to have them both, I have to risk everything.

But they’re worth the fight.

***Doctor Daddy is a 25,000 word novella originally published in the Knocked Up anthology. While the story is the same, I included a brand-new epilogue that will have you swooning.

New Release – Poisoned Paradise by Lucy Smoke

𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐄 a Forbidden, Enemies to Lovers, Taboo, Dark Romance by Lucy Smoke is LIVE!!

𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐄
❝𝒯𝓇𝓊𝓉𝒽 𝒾𝓈 𝒻𝒶𝓇 𝒸𝓇𝓊𝑒𝓁𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓃 𝒻𝒾𝒸𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃…❞

𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘
Six years ago, I made a mistake. The worst mistake I could have ever possibly made. I fell in love with the wrong person and … I told him.

Ryan’s always been with me ever since I can remember. It’s been the two of us—side by side. Through every new beginning, every new ‘family’, and every failure. Is it any wonder that the love I had for him turned into something different—something deeper? Something utterly rotten? And is it any wonder that he hates me for it now?

𝑹𝒚𝒂𝒏
I’m a damaged soul, and she’s the only thing that’s ever held me together. But the one woman I want is the one woman I can never have.

She thinks I hate her for her confession, and maybe a part of me does. What I hate more, though, is that I have to push her away to keep her safe. That I have to pretend like I don’t fucking want her when she’s all I’ve been able to think about for the last six years.

We’re no fucking Romeo and Juliet. We’re much worse than that. A love like ours was doomed from the start.
