Adorable, funny, and wittily written, Duke is a gem of sports romantic comedy.

There is magic sprinkled in between the pages when Kayley and Connor write together and I always look forward to reading whatever they write as their books just get better and better.

Callum “Duke” Duquette is not your ordinary grump. He’s a stoic grump, almost unbreakable for even producing a smirk. It took more than a sunshine, sweetheart heroine to break such a smile on Duke’s face, in fact, it took one cheeky Brit who knew just how to work her way under his grumpy skin to break through his stoicness. Millie Darden just so happens to be one of my favorite heroines in this world and a lot of happens to be because of her sarcastic wit and constant need to make Grumpy McGrumplestein tilt his mouth up even the slightest bit.

Millie is fantastically adorable. Her charm is easy to love and she is the perfect offset to the grouchy kicker. Their story is quite believable within the romcom realm, which makes the comedy that much funnier while reading it.

Lastly, think what makes this series extra special, I love the tidbits of sports knowledge that I can share with my spouse and for once he turns off his, “I’m not listening” filter because I’m actually talking about sports. 😂 I guess, what I’m saying is, it’s written in a way, that even I can carry on a conversation with a sports fanatic and I don’t get tuned out. So thank you for writing a wonderful book.❤️

Dash begins as sort of a Big D…but oh my heart…he is the biggest cinnamon roll. I love a book that can produce characters with growth and I’m not just talking about Dash’s muscles, while I do love how strong he is, his character is one to deeply fall in love with.

Charlie and Dash initially begin as oil and water and while we get a glimpse of their fiery past before jumping back into their present, it’s their present where I truly fell in love. Dash has major character growth and that man…sigh…he is fantastic. Once he realizes that it’s Charlotte that he wants, his entire life changes. I’m not sure he realizes consciously that she makes him a better man in his everyday life, but it’s all the little things that push him to just be better. It’s really hard not to like the big guy.

Charlotte, or Charlie as her friends call her, has always dreamed of dancing in NY. Like Dash she is driven, hard working and doesn’t give up easily. Hence, a lot of the friction between these two, but that is also what makes their love affair so spicy. She brings out the best in him, while he also does the same for her.

To reiterate, I loved, loved, loved Dash, especially when he became a father, but overall his tender moments were so sweet. The writing really reflected just how big and tough Dash was, he’s a defensive lineman in the NFL and those guys are not tiny, but when it came to caring for his loved ones it truly reflected his gentle heart and that is why this new series written with Kayley and Connor is absolutely fantastic!!

The best thing about this book – Nolan, or more appropriately termed Yeslan…since Cora can never tell him no, is yummy, yummy, yummy!

Everything about this book is excellent. I loved the quick witted banter, the accent – yes, it’s totally there while reading – and all the hotness overload. This couple is fire, steam, smoke and blazing heat all rolled into one!

Then…oh yes, there’s more….Cora has a ten year old son, Ashton, who is a little devil himself, who gives Nolan a run for his money.

So let’s recap; hotness, banter, sexy accent, and adorableness. Like I said, this book has it all, LOL!

Okay, all jesting aside, this story is fun, hot, romantic, and full of family hijinx. It truly is a fantastic romantic comedy, with all the heat, plus we get a less talked about holiday in the romance genre, St. Patrick’s Day, it’s completely adorable.

Also, I have to mention this book is full of Irish limericks and blessings, be still my heart. Since my father passed I’ve missed this part of my life more than I realized and reading them here brought a huge smile to my face. Thank you for the beautiful memories.

The entire book is so well written, I could gush for hours, seriously. I loved the entire thing. Loring and Crais is fast becoming my favorite writing duo. I can’t get enough!

Sweetly adorable while still intensely hot. Loring’s brilliant comedy shined throughout this fantastic sports romance while her new co-writing partner, Connor Crais, only increased the awesomeness of the overall plot.

You’d think these two have been writing together for years this book was so well done. There was never a point I thought, this sounds exactly like a man, or this is specifically Kayley’s writing. It’s flawless and perfectly executed. All the charm, cuteness, and loveable qualities that bring me back to Loring’s books over and over again was still there, but there was also this extra sprinkle on top that I’m guessing was the Connor factor.  I’m going with that and I’m sticking to it.

John Decker, the reformed panty wrecker, since his main focus is truly on football and not ravaging all the panties in Boston like when he was a young rookie. His character is likeable from start to finish. He’s a leader on and off the field and he reminded me a lot of great players across generations and in other various sports as well. Whomever the inspiration was for Loring and Crais to draw from, they did a fantastic job on creating and drawing out a well rounded QB1. It’s been years since I’ve asked questions and really paid attention to specifics in football. It’s on my TV on the weekends mostly as background noise, but Decker even refreshed the old spirit in this gal and I found myself paying more attention to the TV than I have in years.

I adored Hannah Strong and loved that she was a woman willing to step into a man’s world and never give up. That strength in character is a trait that more women need to see and experience in everyday life and it’s slowly changing over time, but I love that it’s also happening in the fictional world too. Women are still a minority when it comes to being owners of sports teams. Hannah had a big job in finance before she came over to the sports world, so she had analytics behind her. What she didn’t have was any knowledge of the sport she was taking over, however, she did have the panty wrecker willing to give her a hand…with several things.

These two were pure fire from the beginning and their chemistry never let up. I also loved Hannah’s quest for knowledge and her undying, relentless pursuit to never quit. No matter how tough something was she wasn’t going to stop. That is the same ethics that professional athletes have and it’s ultimately what wins them over as well, especially the QB1.

Is there some drama, of course, but are there lots of quirky, hot, fun times too…yes!! This book brings it all, along with lots of football.

Before writing steamy romantic comedy novels, Kayley Loring got a BFA in creative writing and had a fifteen-year career as a screenwriter in Los Angeles (under a different name). She mostly wrote PG-13 family comedies that studios would pay her lots of money for and then never make into movies. In 2017 she decided to move to the Pacific Northwest and write about all the fun stuff that she wasn’t allowed to write about in those PG-13 scripts.
