Santi and Thalia’s story continues in Tainted Blood where a lot of the book they walk their own path. Thalia has been kidnapped and Santi has to figure out not only who kidnapped his bride, but then how to rescue her.

Thalia certainly comes into her own in this story. There is no holding back while she’s kidnapped and Thalia has to come to terms with who she becomes and the consequences if she ever escapes. Will life ever be the same and can she go back to who she was before this nightmare?

Santi may have married his mafia princess for nefarious reasons, but now that she’s missing unknown feelings for his bride rise to the surface. He will stop at nothing to find her and bring her home safely, even if he has to set her free upon her return. The big question he has to face is if she will return when he does.

Santi and Thalia are from two families that have crossed paths time and time again, could their union finally end the bloodshed between them? Could their families finally call a truce? Will their marriage bind them forever or will it end things forever?

Tainted Blood is not to be read as a standalone as it’s part of a duet. 4.5 stars overall.

A slow burning, dark romance set in the mafia world. Two families pitted against one another, but also bound by a generational feud. Perhaps it’s time the youth finally sets turns the tide on the war.

The title of the book is perfect for the long standing feud between the Santiago and Carrera families. Bad Blood goes back long before Thalia Santiago and Santi Carrera ever met, but the feud is still in existence when Thalia walks into Santi’s casino.

Thalia is trying to help her sister, Ella, when she finds herself caught in Santi’s web and the only way out is through a forced marriage. Caught between two different forms of blackmail which led her to Santi’s casino in the first place, Thalia is just trying to survive all of the alpha males who live in her world. I like the spunk and sass in her attitude. She doesn’t take being a cartel princess lying down and it’s exactly the backbone she needs to survive as Santi’s new wife.

Santi Carrera never saw himself getting married, but when Thalia walked through his doors she presented him with the perfect opportunity to expand his business along the east coast. She was in deep and he had an offer she couldn’t turn down. There is nothing better for business than using his own personal pawn for an advantage and he will take everything from Thalia and her family while giving nothing in return.

While there were a lot of moving pieces to the mafia moments, there were some nice twists that I rather enjoyed. Thalia’s quick witted spirit and Santi’s outspoken sister were other ones. I think these bold women will be a driving force as this duet continues and I will certainly enjoy reading how they bring certain men to their knees when the time comes.

The overall romance was a slow burn, which didn’t grant a lot of tension to build between Thalia and Sant. The mounting tension was directed more between the warring families and Thalia’s personal issue, so the couple didn’t get to spend a lot of time together in the beginning. Just as the chemistry really started to mount the book ended on quite a cliffhanger…so I’m sure there will be a lot more coming in the second half of this duet.

Obsession and forbidden dark romance, this anthology is filled with everything taboo. Yummy!

I chose Erin Trejo’s MC romance, Devious Obsession, and her short story did not disappoint with everything forbidden.

Both Harley and Devious were watching one another from across the way. Looking at each other through the windows or rooftops of where they lived, a deep obsession began without ever seeing much more than a body shape or shadow outline. It certainly made for some wicked fantasies, but that was all it was. Stalking one another from a distance, until it became more.

However, Devious did have an advantage, he actually knew who Harley was, so her form actually had a face when he gave into his fantasies. Harley was also off limits as she was the daughter of his rival MC. Even though he knows she is off limits, it doesn’t stop him from stalking it only makes it more tantalizing.

This story is super delicious, extra streamy and dark, while all wrapped up in a short story. I loved it.

This anthology is jammed packed with love stories. There is everything from catching up on favorite characters to brand new short stories from 30 authors! A couple of the short snippets, I’m really hoping there will be longer books coming in the future, but until then…here are a few of reviews from some of my favorite authors contained in this anthology!

Arrow and Salem by Saffron A. Kent – Arrow and Salem have made it through a lot, but their wedding is finally here, however, Salem’s sister reaches out one last time. This short is intense. Also, for fans of this series, Saffron gives us a peek into what’s coming up. Squeeeee!!!!

Dash and Holly by Susan Stoker – A new short story that is suspenseful and steamy. It is the perfect story to be read back to back with Riley Edwards, Magic and Stella.

Magic and Stella by Riley Edwards – Magic and Stella and the best friends to Dash and Holly and their love story happens right alongside same timeline. Both short stories are full of suspense and steam and wonderfully written.

There are so many stories and I can truly recommend them all, so jump in and read your favorites or find new favorites. It’s all good.
