New Release – Bad Girl Reputation by Elle Kennedy

Bad Girl Reputation Elle Kennedy

Bestselling author Elle Kennedy returns to Avalon Bay in this sexy second chance story about two exes who can’t stay away from each other, Bad Girl Reputation.

When former bad girl Genevieve West returns home for her mother’s funeral, she’s prepared to keep her distance from her ex-boyfriend, Evan Hartley. Their history is rife with turbulence. And passion. A heck of a lot of passion…which she’s trying desperately to forget.

But it’s impossible not to run into Evan in the small coastal town where they once ran wild. And the moment she sees her gorgeous ex again, it’s clear to Gen that Evan is still as unruly, sexy, and irresistible as ever. This time around, however, she’s resolved to walk a new path. No more partying. No more foolish mistakes. Her plan is to temporarily remain in town to help her father run his business, but the second he finds somebody else, she’s out of there.

Evan has other ideas. He knows they can be good together, but he just has to convince Genevieve of that, even if it means turning over a new leaf himself. But can a bad reputation ever truly be shed? Do second chances really work? Genevieve and Evan are about to find out.

Review/Synopsis:

Review:
The beginning of this book is toxic. Evan and Gen are not likeable, but as the story progresses, I gave a lot of credit to Genevieve and the determination she had to walk away from a life that was familiar and comfortable to her. The only one she’d ever known and where her entire family still lived. I enjoyed the strength that she recognized that if she didn’t change her life, her habits, and the toxic way she was living that she was only headed for disaster. It’s only when Genevieve comes back, after a year away, that she gives in a little bit mind you, unable to stay away from the man who was still living a destructive life that Gen actually makes him see the light about his life as well.

While these two struggle in their reconnection, for multiple reasons, I still stand by…I did like the strength in Gen transforming herself into a better person.

Evan is one of those heroes that is not very likeable in the beginning, but as the story progresses, and he comes out of the toxic fog he was living his life in, I enjoyed getting to know the new Evan. You see, Evan was happy living in his bubble and didn’t see anything wrong with his life or the toxic decisions he continually made. Thankfully he does wake up and begin to make major changes, while still holding on to his charm that originally won Genevieve over years ago.

I’m really glad that I stuck with this story and didn’t give up when I didn’t fall in love with everyone right from the get go. This is a book where the main characters experience big character growth while making those big life choices. While I do love to get lost in fiction, this has a nice balance of both.

Released The Winter of 2018-2019

Winter is one of the best times to sit down, curl up on the couch and read a good book.

Prepare for the New Adult/Second Chance emotional ride in Ruthless King. What if everything you had in your first love could be back, but everything you threw away was a mistake? More importantly, what if everything you ever wanted was built in a world of lies by the very people you should have been able to trust? Confused?? Don’t be. A STANDALONE second chance, enemies to lovers romance.

My dick never got me in half as much trouble as my heart…

She’s back. Invading my life and acting like she was the wronged one. The pain is still there, but I can’t keep my eyes off her. I can’t stop thinking about her and how much was left unsaid between us. Being this close is making me question everything I thought I knew about her.

This year started off with so many good reads. The Kiss Thief wrecked me from the get go. I was not prepared for the emotional toil that this book took me on right out of the gate, but at the end of the journey it is still a book I can say was well worth the ride and set me up for a fantastic 2019 reading year.

The Kiss Thief

by L.J. Shen

They say your first kiss should be earned.

Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky.

They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred.

Mine were broken before we left church.

They say your heart only beats for one man.

Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end.

I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit.

Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.

They say that all great love stories have a happy ending.

I, Francesca Rossi, found myself erasing and rewriting mine until the very last chapter.

One kiss.
Two men.
Three lives.
Entwined together.

And somewhere between these two men, I had to find my forever.

Tanner has to be one of the dreamiest hero’s, I want to be real, that I’ve read in a long time.  His old soul mixed with artistic talent, splash in his love of reading and just plain smart brain all wrapped up in a today’s sexy no frills man. Whew…my panties melted off over and over. Tanner may be the youngest Sexton brother, but he is by far my favorite.

Tanner; Sexton Brothers #3

by Lauren Runow and Jeannine Colette

“A kiss was all I needed.”
“Looks like you got what you wished for.”
“Yes. About that…”

I was supposed to find a finely dressed businessman, have a one-night stand and forget about my failed relationship. Instead, I meet Tanner Sexton—a gorgeous man in street clothes, messy hair and the sexiest smile I’ve ever seen.

When my ex shows up at the bar, Tanner notices my panic and kisses me just so the prick can see. Then he takes off, leaving me breathless.

So, I do what any rational person would. I chase after him onto the subway, and embark on a wild night in New York City with a complete stranger.

No matter how much I fight it, this mysterious artist painted his soul onto my skin, and I haven’t been able to forget him. Our romance is one for the ages, but age isn’t the only thing standing in our way..

Lexi Blake is back with the second book in The Forgotten series of Masters and Mercenaries with Lost and Found. This series has been amazing with all the lost boys that Ian Taggart has “adopted”. Now, keep in mind these are grown men and he is keeping them safe because they are being hunted by multiple agencies. The tension is high as the men try to track down information on who they are, while avoiding everyone after them.  It’s as simple as; what they don’t know could get them killed, but what was lost is always found.

Lost and Found; (Masters and Mercenaries, The Forgotten #2)

by Lexi Blake

Owen Shaw and his “brothers” lost everything, their entire existence erased. Science had robbed he and all the Lost Boys of their memories and their past, but not their future. Hunted by every intelligence agency in the world, they are focused on two goals: find a cure for what was done to them and ensure that the technology that ruined their lives doesn’t get out into the world. Rebecca Walsh might be the key to achieving both. Owen has been studying her closely, living in her building, and he cannot resolve how such a beautiful, giving woman could have helped design the evil process that destroyed his past.

Dr. Rebecca Walsh has dedicated her life to researching the secrets of the mind. Her atmospheric rise in her field was fueled by the horror of watching her mother’s agonizing journey into madness at the hands of a disease with no cure. She vowed to never rest until she finds it. But obsession takes a heavy toll, and when Owen moves into her building she realizes how much of her life she has missed out on. Owen opens her eyes to a whole new world, filled with joy, laughter, and possibly love.

Owen and Rebecca grow closer, unraveling more about each other and the mysteries surrounding her connection to Hope McDonald. As the sinister forces working against the Lost Boys descend on Toronto, secrets long buried are uncovered that could shatter the bonds holding the Lost Boys together and cost Rebecca her life.

I love reading Riley Edwards. Her characters are rich, full of depth and her plot never wavers or leaves me hanging. If anything I’m left wanting more. More of the characters she creates. More of the family she introduces me to. Just more, more, more. Finding Mercy is the 3rd book in the Next Generation series of a world she’s already introduced us to. These are the children from parents we’ve already fallen in love with. Begin reading this series and fall in love with the next generation.

Finding Mercy

by Riley Edwards

“So much emotion it flew off the page and knocked the wind out of me. Finding Mercy was another great story by the absolutely brilliant Riley Edwards.” Jennifer Pierson: The Power of Three Readers

DEA Jason Walker became a widower at Twenty-eight. Two years later he’s still torturing himself with guilt. They’d married young, and she’d been his first love, but her illness changed everything. They’d fought a losing battle and he’d held her to the very end. Now he just wants to be left alone with his misery and memories.

Mercy James is no stranger to grief and loneliness. Her brother’s death of a drug overdose, and her police officer father’s death in the line of duty were the driving forces behind her pursuit of a career in the DEA. In spite of–or maybe because of–her past, Mercy doesn’t believe in feeling sorry for others, or for herself.

When a case brings Jason and Mercy together, and their attraction heats up, can her tough, straightforwardness help Jason learn to live in the light again? He’d lost his first love, but is he ready for a forever love?

How many ways are there to laugh. I I could Google the answer, but instead, let me tell you just a few of the ways I engaged in LOLing my way through The Risk. I snickered, snorted, giggled, unlady-like gwafed, most likely brayed like a donkey, cackled, had bursts of uncontrollable bouts of laughter where I read and reread the same sentences over and over just so I could partake in tears-rolling-down-my-face laughing just to name a few. This book hit my funny bone in all the right spots and that was just the beginning of why I loved this book. Please pick it up and find out for yourself all the ways you can LOL.

The Risk; Briar U #2

by Elle Kennedy

A sexy standalone novel from New York Times and international bestselling author Elle Kennedy. THE RISK takes you back to the world of hot hockey players, feisty heroines, bro banter, and steamy scenes…

Everyone says I’m a bad girl. They’re only partly right—I don’t let fear rule me, and I certainly don’t care what people think. But I draw the line at sleeping with the enemy. As the daughter of Briar’s head hockey coach, I’d be vilified if I hooked up with a player from a rival team.

And that’s who Jake Connelly is. Harvard’s star forward is arrogant, annoying, and too attractive for his own good. But fate is cruel—I require his help to secure a much-coveted internship, and the sexy jerk isn’t making it easy for me.

I need Connelly to be my fake boyfriend.

For every fake date…he wants a real one.

Which means this bad girl is in big trouble. Nothing good can come from sneaking around with Jake Connelly. My father would kill me, my friends will revolt, and my post-college career is on the line. But while it’s getting harder and harder to resist Jake’s oozing sex appeal and cocky grin, I refuse to fall for him.

That’s the one risk I’m not willing to take.

Cheryl Brooks is back with another addition to the Cat Star Legacy series. The mystical and magical world of the Zetithian people. I have been a fan of hers for years. It was probably a decade or so ago, I read every book Cheryl Brooks wrote. Can you say I was just a little ecstatic to see them back and she was writing a new spinoff about some of my favorite, sexy alien’s? I cannot wait to find some time to read off of my TBR list!!

This winter wouldn’t be complete without a good angsty read. To further add to the angsty/emotional pot, this author added a dash of age difference, a splash of teacher/student forbiddenness, and a pinch of interracial love. This book actually landed on my new favorite author list for the month of February. So please make sure you check it out.

What He Never Knew; What He Doesn’t Know #3

by Kandi Steiner

I never learn my lesson.

And I always want what I can’t have.

When Sarah Henderson walks into my life, I tell myself she’s off limits. She’s my student, sixteen years younger than me, and my boss’s niece. It doesn’t matter that I see the same pain reflected in her eyes that I have in my own, or that the dead organ better known as my heart kicks to life when she’s around.

I’ve been here before, and I know how this ends.

It’s been two years since I fell for the last woman I knew I couldn’t have, the one with the ring on her finger that I chose to ignore.

Two years of trying to overcome that heartache when Sarah slides into my life.

Another woman I can’t have. Another woman I can’t stop myself from wanting.

I never learn my lesson, but with a constant reminder of how that last forbidden love burned, I think I’ve finally learned this one.

This time, I won’t chase what’s off limits.

This time, I’m staying away.

And I’ll keep telling myself that until I believe it.

Snippet from The Risk!
———-
“I’ll walk you out,” I offer.

“Completely unnecessary. I don’t need an escort.” She pats my arm. “Good night, Jakey.”

Despite her dismissal, I follow her.

“I told you, I don’t need an escort.”

“Yeah, you did tell me that.”

She stops at the bar and hands the waiter a twenty-dollar bill. “That should cover his beer, too.” She glances over her shoulder. “Say thank you to your sugar mama, Jakey.”

“Thank you.” I flash an overly lascivious grin. “Daddy loves it when you take care of him.”

Brenna sighs. “I hate you.”

I trail after her toward the narrow stairwell. “Nah, you don’t hate me,” I argue.

The club is on the lower level of the building, so we have to climb one flight to get upstairs. Brenna goes ahead of me, which places her ass about two inches from my face. I nearly choke on my own tongue. Christ. I can practically see up her dress.

When we reach the landing, I stop her by resting my hand on her shoulder. “You like me,” I inform her.

She slowly appraises me. “On the contrary. I think you like me.”

I shrug. “You’re all right.”

A smile lifts the corners of her mouth. “Nuh-uh, you think I’m more than all right. You’ve got a case of the Jensens.”

“Come on now. That’s just crazy talk.”

“So you’re saying if I asked you to go home with me right now, you’d say no?” She licks her lips, those sexy red lips, and moves closer.

I lick my lips, too. “I’d say no.”

The Risk; Briar U #2 (Series)
by Elle Kennedy (Author)

This review is from: February 11, 2019 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥🔥

How many ways are there to laugh? I could Google the answer, but instead, let me tell you just a few of the ways I engaged in LOLing my way through The Risk. This book hit my funny bone in all the right spots and this is just the beginning of why I loved this book.

Brenna and Jake are two formidable characters who are evenly matched. Their wit, carisma, self-confidence, really just about everything about their person is so likeable it’s hard to find anything lacking about either one. It also makes for a great game of cat and mouse when you have two people so evenly matched in the witty brain game. Their chemistry is off the charts right from the get go. Even better, neither is ever offended from the sarcastic comments they throw at each other, which only amps up the tension between the two.

Their story really begins with Jake asking Brenna to back off from seeing one of his players. However Brenna doesn’t take directions from anyone.

“She’s bold and fierce, and those qualities combined with her beauty make her a force to be reckoned with.”-Jake

Their back and forth once Jack puts a kibosh on her booty call is a beautiful tango, but when Brenna, the unfathomable Brenna needs help landing an internship and her only ace in the hole is Jake, she does the one thing she never thought she’d do. She claims him as her boyfriend. Their fake relationship begins, however, their back and forth really began back when Jake began his meddling, but both are too proud to really own up to it.

Jake Connelly attends Harvard, the enemy of Briar- currently -since they are close to competing for the championships in hockey. Brenna’s father, Coach Jensen, coaches for Briar where Brenna also attends, so to say that Jake is the enemy is putting it mildly. Jake’s focus has always been hockey, since he was five years old. As current captain of the hockey team he’s looking out for his teammates, so when he confronts Brenna and asks her to leave one of his teammates alone it’s all in the interest of his team winning this years championship.

Hello, wave a red flag in front of a bull.

Little did he know that Brenna would end up back in his life numerous times after that encounter. Little did he know that Brenna would become more than just a girl he knew of from Briar. Little did he know that Brenna would ask him for a favor that would change everything going forward in his life.

“For some reason, the way Jake seems to get along with everyone rubs me the wrong way. It’s hard to think of him as THE ENEMY when faced with evidence that he might be a decent guy.”-Brenna

The Risk not only is filled with lots of laughs, but it has lots of heart. There was a point I had to set my ipad down and wipe my eyes, so definitely be prepared for an emotional ride.

Along with the tears of laughter and just plain tears, you’ll have bouts of anger. Brenna meets with one of the most sexist (you read that right, sexist, not sexiest-vowels are extremely important here) person I think I’ve ever had the chance of reading or meeting and honestly I’ve worked with several in my lifetime. This character tips the scales mega-douchiness. This is one more reason why I love Brenna’s character she is the bigger person., Be prepared through and hold on to whatever you are reading, because you are going to want to toss something.

Brenna and Jake make it through lots of obstacles all while consorting with “the enemy”, but at the end of the day is any of it realistic, can they really be more than just partners in crime? What they’ve had is fun, but could it ever be more than just helping each other out?

The Risk checked off every box on any list I could possibly come up with. It is a fantastic read.

This is a collection of steamy, contemporary stories that revolve around love and the song that inspired it. Personally I felt that some songs were more up front with their musically titled theme than others, but maybe it could have also been that I knew some songs better than others. Regardless, like any anthology I was drawn to certain stories more than others, but overall, the anthology holds something for everyone and for the price you can’t go wrong.

MixTape is packed with excellent authors and lots of steamy romance. Here are just a few of my personal favorites:

“Say Yes”-Elle Kennedy

Have you ever attended a wedding hoping for a quick hookup? Well, Emilia was away for a weekend wedding and she was definitely swiping left and right. Her perfect match, a man named Dirk (really Dirk?) Well, he was the perfect walking wet panty dream, which was perfect for her one night stand. The only snag in her perfect plan was when the bride introduces her (the next morning) to the groom, who just so happens to be none-other than Dirk (yeah, she knew that name spelled trouble).

“Say It First” Nikki Sloane

When Anna Douglas made it big in Hollywood, she didn’t really stay connected to people back home. It wasn’t that she was a snob, it was that she wasn’t connected before she made it big, so when a friend request popped up from Jamie Campbell, one of the most popular guys from high school, she couldn’t resist accepting. Months and conversations later they have become each other’s best friend, but could it be more? With hectic schedules and never declaring anything but friendship is it time to move beyond the chat room?

There are several others that were delicious and full of extra steam and I hope you pick up this anthology for yourself so you can read each and every story to discover just how much fun reading MixTape was.
