Blog Tour – Dating the Player by Erin McCarthy

Dating the Player, an all-new sweet and sexy sports romance from New York Times bestselling author Erin McCarthy is available now!

Dak

I’ve got a big pro football contract, a big appetite for women, and a big mouth. It gets me into trouble more often than not… but this time it lands me with a nerdy little PR gatekeeper who is supposed to control me. But good luck with that.
Eloise and her kitten sweaters and adorable glasses have me thinking about her in a whole different way…

Eloise

I’m not your typical nerd girl. Instead of video games, I love football. I’ve landed my dream job managing social media for my favorite team, but with Dakota North as quarterback it’s a 24/7 job. When I’m told I have to spend a week making sure Dak doesn’t tweet, he seems determined to use that time to flirt with me.

I have to ask myself, what is more important- losing my virginity to a bad boy quarterback or keeping my perfect job?

Excerpt

As Dak sauntered through, big and cocky, it was like watching the viral video of fainting goats. First all the women sat up straight, tits out, eyelashes fluttering madly, then as soon as he passed them, they collapsed back, drained and dreamy.
Even though I knew for a fact that he’d had sex with at least two of the women at headquarters, he never spoke to anyone in particular.
Except me.
In the cruelest of all damn ironies, he spoke to me on a regular basis.
Wearing track pants that did nothing to hide a huge cock moving freely beneath the cotton, Dak came toward me. And yes, even as a virgin, I had enough experience with penises in general to know that his was nothing short of impressive. He had on a team logo sweatshirt, which also didn’t disguise his broad shoulders and ripped arms. His hands were huge, and I imagined if he spread one across my face, it would block out the sun entirely. Recently he’d seemed to have forgotten to see a barber, his sandy hair veering into Jason Momoa territory. Football warrior. Maybe that was the look he was going for. It was working and then some.
Studying my laptop screen studiously, I pushed up my cherry red glasses and ignored him.
“Hey, Kitty.”
Dak didn’t know my name. He’d never asked. Even if he had, I doubt he would have remembered it.
I turned and gave him a weak smile, my heart rate kicking into overtime. The highlight of my day was when he acknowledged me, but it also threatened to send me into shock every time. Or spontaneous orgasm. My nipples hardened beneath my sweater and I shifted a little on my seat.
“Hi, Dak, how are you today?”
“Living the dream, Kitty.”
In his case, that was hugely accurate.
He gestured to me. “Turn around and let me see you.”
Obediently, I swiveled my chair so I was facing him. This was our routine. I’d say I didn’t know how to break it, but the truth was I didn’t want to.
His eyes raked over me slowly, amusement and mischief in them. “Now that. That right there is the sweetest pussy you’ve given me yet.”
“It’s Siamese,” I told him.
“Kinky.”
I glanced down at my breasts and the cat on my sweater. “I don’t think so. Cute more so than kinky.”
Dak shook his head slowly. “Then clearly our thoughts aren’t running in the same direction.”
I pushed my glasses up on my nose. “Apparently not.” I didn’t take anything he said seriously because Dak was a wicked flirt. He flirted on social media with random women who commented on his posts. He flirted with the team cheerleaders. He flirted with female sports reporters. But he had a type when it came to women he actually had sex with or dated.
They were always what my grandfather would call “hot to trot.”
They were women who oozed sexuality in every look, every gesture. In the way they dressed and moved and spoke.
That wasn’t me. Not by a long shot.
Nope. I was the virgin intellect who dressed her pets in team jerseys.
So, I knew that Dak just found me a kooky cat girl and that I was entertaining for five minutes whenever he was in the office. But he’d never date me or want to have sex with me.
Which sometimes was devastatingly disappointing.
Because, hello, sexy alpha male with a charming smile, muscles on muscles, and a confidence that made him a powerhouse on the field.
Other times I realized that if Dak ever got tired of supermodels and decided he wanted to take a dip in the nerd-girl pool, I probably couldn’t handle it.
He would break me, in all ways imaginable.
I may have had intelligence, but it didn’t mean a damn thing when hormones were involved.
Survival of the fittest and all that.
“Well, if you ever want me to explain it to you, let me know.” Dak gave me a wink.

Review:

Adorable, sweet, and very romantic. I loved the spark between Dak and Eloise from the very beginning, making this a great start to a new series.

For the first time in Dakota North’s life he was thrown by a woman who didn’t automatically jump at his charms. Not that Eloise was cold or mean, she just knew that Dak was a player and therefore knew her own boundaries and sense of self preservation when it came to her own heart. She wasn’t willing to give up a piece of herself in the name of one night of fun, risking not only the possibility of emotional attachment, but her self worth, her pride, and most importantly her job. She works at the stadium with Dak and while she loves the daily flirting he brings, crossing the line for more wasn’t worth losing her job.

Eloise wasn’t under any illusion that if it came down to Dakota North, star quarterback, or Eloise, social media rep, who most likely would be cut from the employment roster. While she was good at her job she wasn’t raking in the dollar signs like Dak did. So she took her job seriously when she became the babysitter for a weekend trip with the hunky quarterback. No matter how much he upped his flirting game. Her focus was keeping him off of social media and not getting into his pants even if she really, really wanted to.

Eloise just never expected to be pulled into Dak’s orbit and fall for his family, his charm, and the really nice guy that he seems to hide under the player, non-filter media nightmare. Dak knows he has to pull out the big guns to win Eloise over and nothing in his arsenal of past hookups will work to charm his Kitty. He’s never been with someone like her before and  all of these feelings are new, could it be the girl or is it more?

These two were just delightful to read and I’m really looking forward to reading more of Dak’s friends in upcoming books. When they are all together the moments are hilarious. Eloise fit right in and I love that she goes with the flow for whatever Dak brings to the table considering she is normally a stay at home kind of girl.

Dak falling for his complete opposite type is so cute, but even more so is the observations he makes about himself about his buffett of past women. Eloise is truly more his type than he ever realized and that’s why these two work so well together. Eloise is strong and adorable and the perfect match to call someone like Dak on every move he makes. This new series looks like so much fun and I’m totally here for it!

Excerpt

The plan had a flaw. I hadn’t counted on someone being right at the bottom of the railing, pressed against it, holding a drink. There was no way to stop myself. I tried, attempting to jump off the railing, but my timing was off. I was going too fast, and before I could maneuver, I just plowed into the back of him. As if he had sensed movement behind him, he turned exactly at the moment of collision. My center of gravity was off and I was falling head down. I took an elbow to the chin. And a martini in the face. Vodka went into my mouth. Not bad. Vodka went up my nose. Not great. Vodka went in my eye. That freaking sucked. “Ow!” I grabbed the guy around the midsection and tried to find my feet. My eyes were closed against the blinding, stinging liquid. Damn it. It was a dirty martini. Olive juice on top of vodka really was a bad combination. In my eye, anyway. I licked it off my lips. “Are you okay?” I couldn’t see shit, eyes watering viciously and still primarily closed, but I managed to right myself to a standing position. “I think so.” Except for the fact that a giant manhand was on my face, attempting to wipe away the spilled drink. It almost made me lose my balance all over again. I took a step back to escape the swiping. “Dakota?” The man knew my name. Thank God. That would be way less embarrassing than running into a total stranger. Unless it was the landlord because I owed him two hundred bucks. I wasn’t sure I was ever going to know because my eyes were still stinging and I had zero visibility. But I used my knuckle and dried my tears. My words died when I realized who this guy was. It was him. Brandon. The man who had helped me escape my surprise wedding and taken me ice-skating at Rockefeller Center. Standing there in a navy button-up shirt over tight black jeans that showed off his muscular build. Looking big and broad and sexy as hell. His eyes were wide in recognition. “Dakota,” he murmured again, this time without question. His tone was so pleased, so sensual, so intimate, like we had shared something more than one hot kiss under the mistletoe, that I nearly had an orgasm listening to him. “It’s you,” I said, because I’ve always wanted to say that. They do it in movies all the time, and never, ever, in real life is there an opportunity to say something as dramatic as “it’s you.” But this was my chance and I took it. I had been absolutely sure I would never see this man again and yet, here he was standing in front of me.

Review:

Perfect blend of steamy mixed with Erin’s fantastic humor!

Dakota is fun and flirty, pretty much lives in the moment, and not looking for a relationship because she has horrible taste in men, but cue Brandon who actually rescued her from her last disastrous relationship. The knight she didn’t know she needed.

While Brandon is also not looking for anything more than just a fun night between the sheets because he has two daughters at home and one divorce already on the books, he is drawn to Dakota and her playful nature. He can’t deny that no matter when he sees her he can’t keep his eyes or his hands off of her, but his career and his children always come first no matter what.

The first time these two meet they both made the mistake of not exchanging numbers. The second time it was basically….I’ll say a clerical error. The third time their chemistry is still off the charts and they both are in somewhat of a pickle and in a spot where they can help one another, the biggest question can they do it and not end up in the relationship that neither of them want.

Both Dakota and Brandon are so blinded by what they say they don’t want that neither of them are focused on what they can both have. This book is adorable and funny and all kinds of steamy. It’s a perfect read for the month of love!

Who’s the Boss
(A standalone)

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

Hilarious!! This insta-hate, enemies-to-lovers had me laughing from page one!

Isla and Sean’s chemistry leapt off the page! Not only did they bring the heat to the kitchen, but these two chefs lit the pages on fire.

Isla is married to her job and Sean is more than happy being single, but when these two meet on the way to an engagement party…well, other than basically lighting each other on fire, verbally that is, but ending with an incinerating, toe curling kiss…the sparks really begin when Sean takes over Isla’s kitchen as her new boss and beware a chef scorned out of a promotion.

While neither forgot about their meet cute, neither are necessarily looking to ignite a relationship. They are just hoping to work together without getting fired or murdering one another. But it isn’t long until neither can really help that their attraction to each other, I mean their chemistry is off the charts, so then the question becomes, can they cook at work and sizzle in the sheets without burning down both of their worlds?

Who’s the Boss is a fun, laugh out loud read that was highly enjoyable with the right amount of steam!

Excerpt

I woke up with a start, sitting up in panic. There was drool in the corner of my mouth. Why was I in bed? Where was my son?

I stumbled out of bed, heart racing.

I remembered almost immediately that Maddox had arrived and had told me to take a power nap. Right. Geez. I slowed down in the hallway, putting my hand onto my chest to take a deep breath and calm down. Sully was fine. He was with Maddox.

But when I went into the living room, they weren’t there. I realized the bathroom door was closed and the shower was running. Hold on. If Maddox was in the shower, where was Sully? Was he lying on my bathroom floor, which I had to admit, hadn’t been cleaned recently? The thought of my child rolling around on that cold, damp germ-riddled floor had me opening the bathroom door to rescue him.

Sully wasn’t on the floor. He wasn’t anywhere to be found.

My panic kicked into high gear again, and without hesitating, I ripped back the shower curtain to demand Maddox explain where the hell my child was. The words died on my tongue. Because Sully was in the shower with Maddox, looking pink and chubby and delighted, hand out in front of him to catch the water as he rested comfortably on Maddox’s hip.

Maddox’s naked hip.

Maddox, who didn’t look pink and chubby and delighted.

Maddox, who looked like a hard, sexy-as-hell, bad boy.

His head was under the water, body turned toward me so Sullivan was out of the direct line of the stream. Which meant I could see every single full-frontal inch of Maddox. He was hard. Everywhere. Muscles on muscles, decorated with tattoos over a good fifty percent of his incredible body. Incredible and firm body.

I tried not to look at everything. I really tried. But my gaze seemed to have a life of its own and took a peek at his lower body.

My mouth went dry. My cheeks hot.

That was a big cock.

Inches from me.

“Hey, is everything okay?” he asked, pulling me out of my dumbfounded stupor.

I yanked my gaze back to his face, mortified.

“You didn’t sleep very long,” he said when I just stared at him. He didn’t look even remotely uncomfortable with the fact that he was standing under a stream of hot water totally naked in front of me.

Finally, I pried my tongue off of the roof of my mouth. “I’m sorry, oh my God. I didn’t mean to…” I gestured to his body. “I just woke up and I didn’t know where Sully was and I freaked out. I’m not used to having help…” I trailed off, pressing my lips shut.

Maddox just gave me a grin. “Not a problem. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. I should have told you I wanted a shower.”

Sully reached for me, bless his little heart. He saved me from further embarrassment.

“Grab a towel before you take him,” Maddox said. “He’s slippery.” He looked down at Sully and bounced him on his hip a little. “Aren’t you, little man?”

Now that my eyes were studiously focused above the waist, and I’d dragged my sex-deprived mind out of the gutter, I was amazed at how at ease Maddox was with my son. He’d been made to hold a baby, and as I reached for a towel, I felt a yearning for a father for Sully for the first time ever.

This was all really confusing, dangerous, and potentially disastrous.

I needed sleep and sex, clearly.

Towel in hand I got as close as was necessary to take Sully safely without touching any of Maddox’s naked body. My cheeks were hot. “Maybe I can take a shower after you,” I said. “I think I’m on day three without one.”

“You could hop in now,” he said. “There’s room.”

Maddox said it like it was totally normal. Like he wasn’t naked in front of a woman who’d never seen him naked before. Like he had seen menaked before, which he most definitely hadn’t. Like we were a couple with a baby and not old friends, if you could even really say that. It wasn’t like I knewMaddox. We’d never talked about anything real. He’d just always been around our house with Steven.

This new dynamic was bizarre for me.

“Why are you teasing me?” I asked, genuinely curious. And again, no filter. “It was always the other way around. I teased you because I was older.”

His eyebrows shot up as I took Sully from him and wrapped him fully in the towel. “Am I teasing you? Is that what I’m doing?”

“Well. Yes. Aren’t you?”

He put his head under the water and ran his hand over it. A few water drops arched out and landed on my arm. So much wet skin. Everywhere, just skin and wet. Lord, I was losing it.

“I was flirting, not teasing. There is a difference.”

That befuddled me. “Why?”

“Because you’re an attractive woman and I’m a normal guy who likes to flirt with women. Or maybe I’m just being friendly.”

I backed up, needing space. The room was warm and humid and I was having a very difficult time not looking where I shouldn’t look. “This arrangement isn’t going to work if you do that. Say suggestive things all the time.”

“Why? It’s not a big deal.” Maddox stared at me with those dark eyes. Intently. “Is it?”

What the hell was he really asking me? I had no idea.

I was flustered and I took another step backward. “Maddy. Stop. You’re barely out of high school and I’m a mother. You’re going to be my nanny. We have to be professional. Maybe that’s not the right word, but you know what I mean. Friends who are helping each other. Platonic friends. Not flirty. You’re like a little brother to me.”

The look he gave me was smoldering. His nostrils flared. His shoulders tensed. He paused with the bottle of shampoo in his hand. “Sure,” he said, his casual voice completely at odds with the intensity of his expression. “Whatever you want, Savannah. I promise not to flirt with you.”

Then he grabbed the curtain and pulled it shut, blocking him from my view.

Good. Great. Perfect. Glad we had established boundaries. That was the way it needed to be.

I had no business behaving in any other way than as a big sister to Maddox.

So why did I feel so disappointed?

Because I didn’t look at him and see a kid brother anymore. I hadn’t known him in years and he was different now. It was terrifying.

I took my son out of the bathroom and to my bedroom to get him diapered and dressed.

Maybe it was time to start dating again. Over a year without a date or sex was clearly too long.

I was an eternal optimist. I believed in a happily ever after. I could watch romantic comedies for seventy-two hours straight. I loved love.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t very good at it personally.

My friends all told me I was too quick to overlook red flags and to give people second chances. The first was probably accurate. The second I stood by. Everyone deserves a second chance. But my bullshit meter was definitely broken.

Sully’s father had looked great on paper. A contracts lawyer. Apartment in SoHo. Wealthy parents who had given him a private school education in Manhattan. He’d said he was interested in a relationship. In leaving behind his playboy twenties and settling down into something “real” since he had turned thirty.

Apparently, an unplanned pregnancy had been too real.

I had expected him to be shocked and not entirely thrilled with the news. I had not expected him to be livid. When I had told him I was having the baby, he’d punched a hole in the wall, terrifying me. He’d said terrible things, accused me of entrapment.

No happily ever after.

Just me getting the hell out of there and vowing to stay the hell away from Adam. It was probably the first time I would not have given someone a second chance. Not that he’d wanted one, but my concern had shifted from my own personal feelings to concern for my unborn baby.

The maternal instinct was strong. Like the force.

I wanted no part of a father being around if he resented it.

Laying Sully on my bed, I rubbed his soft skin with the towel and felt my heart swell with love for him. He was perfection even if his sperm donor had been, well, not so great.

I hated to think of him as a dick. Even if he was one.

Moving quickly before Sully objected, I got a diaper on him and a clean onesie. Then little khakis and a blue sweater. The fact that they made khakis for six-month-old babies gave me a happiness I couldn’t even express. Could anything on the planet be cuter?

I picked him up and gave him a belly kiss. “You look like a little man,” I cooed to him.

“He looks like a Best Buy employee,” Maddox said from the doorway. His expression was amused.

I frowned. Maddox was standing there in his towel. “What do you think he should wear, a skull and crossbones? He’s six months old.”

“That or maybe a puppy T-shirt or something. What you have on him now is what my grandfather wears to church.”

Offended, I wanted to exit my bedroom, but he was blocking the door. “You have a lot of opinions for someone who isn’t a parent. I’m the fashion expert, remember? I can handle dressing a baby. My baby.”

He held his hands up, nearly giving me a heart attack when his towel slipped. He grabbed it before it dropped to the floor. “Sorry. I was just teasing. I would never judge you on how you parent. I just thought since we’re friends, we can be cool with each other.”

That flustered me. I had really thought this was going to be a lot easier. More comfortable. But Maddox was confusing me. “I guess that’s fair,” I said, because I didn’t know what else to say. “I did used to tease you a lot when you were a kid, like I said before.”

He was leaning on the doorframe, showing no signs of moving or getting dressed or even putting the towel back in place. He was just holding it in front of his junk, but his hips were exposed.

“No, you didn’t. Not really.” His voice was soft. “I took a lot of crap from other kids for being the poor kid with the hot, young mom, but you weren’t like that. You were nice to me, Savannah, and I appreciated it. More than you know.”

My shoulders relaxed. I felt a warmth for him that was more familiar territory. Maddox had been a quiet kid, Steven his primary friend. I had felt sorry for him because he’d lived over a restaurant in downtown Stroudsburg while the rest of us in our school lived in suburban houses. His mother had been a waitress, very young, a MILF before the term had existed. Guys had always been catcalling her and flirting with her and she’d been sassy, flipping them off and hurtling wisecracks back.

She’d called Maddox “Weirdo” all the time. It had seemed to be an affectionate nickname, but not one I would have enjoyed.

“How is your mom?” I asked. “And your brother and sisters?”

He finally wrapped the towel around himself fully, tucking the edge. “She’s good. She’s freaking out about turning thirty-nine, but otherwise she’s great.”

Holy cow, his mother was only thirteen years older than me? That would have made her fifteen when he was born. Having been raising Sully on my own for six months at my age, I had a whole new respect for his mother.

“The kids are all mostly normal, mostly not assholes.” There was warmth and pride in his voice. “Mike is great, too. I never thought I wanted a stepfather but he’s an alright guy. He’s the one who got me interested in ink. And motorcycles.”

His stepfather owned an auto body shop back home and he’d seemed successful, moving Maddox and his mother into a colonial before they started producing children one after the other. They were a coolfamily, with artistic children, and yes, skull and crossbones on their clothes. In comparison, my family had been very traditional. My mother was a teacher, my father an accountant. There was a lot of khaki and beige in our house. I was comfortable with beige. I wanted a colonial in neutral paint colors someday.

I glanced at Maddox’s chest. I couldn’t help it. It was right in front of me. “I’ll make some dinner while you get dressed and you can tell me all about your ink.”

“Sounds like a plan. Here, give me the baby so you can do your thing in the kitchen.” He reached out for Sully.

When he did, the knot on the towel gave way a second time and it pooled at his ankles. He didn’t react at all to being fully naked.

He just took my son, saying, “I didn’t mean to mock your threads, little man. It’s not your fault your mom digs khakis.”

He turned and walked down the hallway, ignoring the towel, and giving me a mouthwatering view of a very tight ass.

Note to self: Maddox was comfortable being naked.

I scooped up the abandoned towel and debated whether that was the world’s greatest news or the worst.

Review:

Adorable, smexy, hot tattooed man, and one cooing baby that will melt your heart. First Five Dates has it all! Every ovary bursting moment that I read in one sitting!

Maddox has had a crush on Savannah since he was a teenage boy. He’s best friends with her brother, so it was a bit awkward to ever say much about that crush when he was a gangly teen, but it’s now years later and Savannah is a single mother which only has intensified his crush into a deep lust now that they are adults. Savannah has graciously opened up her home to him, allowing him to stay there while he films for his new job, but Maddox also has a secondary plan to win her over. He plans to finally show her that he is no longer just a skinny boy who is best friends with her brother, he is now a man who wants to take care of her and her son.

Savannah has the worst taste in men. Take being a single mother with a six month old son. When her last relationship ran out when she informed him she was pregnant it only goes to prove that her taste in men haven’t improved in all the years she has dated. When her brothers best friend, Maddox, agreed to move in and help her with her son, Sully she was thankful beyond belief. What she didn’t know was that Maddox is now hot AF. She hadn’t seen in him in person in several years and the tattooed, ripped man who shows up on her doorstep is not the same gangly boy she last saw years ago. Her hormones may not be in charge with him staying under her roof.

Savannah enlists her friends to help her set up blind dates to get back on the dating scene. This begins the first of four dates. When Maddox gets wind of her plan he wants in and becomes the fifth to join in on this plan. While living under Savannah’s roof the two of them not only get to know one another better, but they also “get to know one another better” (wink, wink). Savannah and Maddox have a natural chemistry and everytime they are together it is wicked hot.

Maddox is the absolute best. As a manny he is glorious. He has a natural instinct with Sully which is ovary melting, especially when I imagine him covered in his tattoos. Totally yummy.

A fun, smexy read that is exactly what is needed during this stressful time.

Billionaire businessman in need of a fake fiancée…

It should be the easiest job ever for an out-of-work actress, right?

All I have to do is pose as Grant Caldwell (the Third)’s fiancé for a fancy-pants weekend in the Hamptons. Easy. Wear designer clothing and sip champagne? Don’t mind if I do. Flirting with Grant? It’s so delicious I should be paying him.

Nothing can go wrong as long as I can just keep my hands off of him.

But that’s the hard part. And I do mean hard.

Because Grant is sexy.

And bossy.

And surprisingly sweet, a real rarity in his pretentious family.

Oops. I’m not as good at faking it as I thought. Or maybe they call this method acting. Because it’s getting harder to figure out where my character ends and I begin…

It just might be the role of a lifetime.

I looked at Leah. “Sorry about that. I am not filthy rich.” I actually was, but I felt compelled to be modest. “I’m just rich.”

“Oh, yeah? Well… I think everyone’s definition of filthy is different.”

And just like that, Leah took an awkward moment and made it flirtatious. Her voice was low, breathy.

Green light. That’s what that was. And I was hitting the gas and plowing into the intersection.

I eyed her. “What do you know about filthy?”

I had leaned closer to her, turned slightly, my thigh brushing against the fabric of her skirt. Her lips were a ripe raspberry color and she had a divot in the base of her chin that made me want to kiss it. Her chest rose and fell beneath her tight sweater with a quick rhythm, like she was turned on. Intrigued. Contemplating her move. She opened her mouth, gaze sweeping over my lips, and for a second I thought she was going to move close enough that I could kiss her.

Instead, she held my gaze, all seduction and skill, while her hand shot out and tucked the cash into the breast pocket of my suit. She grinned and turned back to the front, smug.

Damn.

“Nice acting skills,” I told her dryly. Leah, starring in the role of femme fatale, and I’d fallen for it.

“Thanks. I’m working on eye contact.”

I was working on blue balls.

She was cute and clever. Fuck.

I knew a couple of women who wanted exactly what I did—no-strings-attached sex. No one got offended if months went by without contact and it was just as likely they would text me as I would text them. I didn’t get… ensnared. Leah could ensnare me. It might be time to send out a sexual SOS. I needed zero contact with Leah after today. She wasn’t good for my concentration. But I did admire both her boldness and her talent.

“That was savage,” I told her. “I love it.”

“I need a distraction from the fact that my ankle seems to have a heartbeat and half the ice has melted so now my sock is damp.”

Right. Her busted ankle. That was the relevant issue at hand, not my dick.

“You really should elevate your ankle. Turn a little.”

Surprisingly, she obeyed me. I dug my way through all that fabric and hauled her calf and ankle up onto my lap. I also tucked the hundred bucks back into her skirt pocket. She didn’t seem to notice and just cleared her throat.

Leah bit her bottom lip. “This is weird,” she said. “I don’t think you want my damp sock on your pants.”

There were so many things I wanted to say. All of them inappropriate as fuck.

What I settled for was, “Don’t assume what I want.”

“Weekend Wife is the perfect, irresistible romantic comedy!”

—Erin Nicholas, New York Times bestselling author

Weekend Wife, an all-new flirty and hilarious stand-alone rom com from New York Times bestselling author Erin McCarthy, is available now!

WeekendWife FOR WEB

Billionaire businessman in need of a fake fiancée…

It should be the easiest job ever for an out-of-work actress, right?

All I have to do is pose as Grant Caldwell (the Third)’s fiancé for a fancy-pants weekend in the Hamptons. Easy. Wear designer clothing and sip champagne? Don’t mind if I do. Flirting with Grant? It’s so delicious I should be paying him.

Nothing can go wrong as long as if I can just keep my hands off of him.

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

Absolutely adorable!! I dare you to get swept up in this fantastic romcom that is so perfect that once you pick it up you will not put it down until the very last page (and not laugh while doing so)!

Neither Grant nor Leah are looking for long term relationships, but a quick tumble between the sheets doesn’t sound like a bad idea. They both agree they have chemistry off the charts and after a hilarious mistaken mistress package goes awry Grant decides to ask Leah to be his fake girlfriend when his father demands he arrive with one for a long weekend away in the Hamptons.

Thankfully Leah knows how to go with the flow, she is an actress after all, but nothing prepares her for a dramatic proposal in front of his family, or the feelings that begin to grow between them. A relationship between a billionaire and a bohemian shouldn’t work in the long run, but between these two you will laugh, swoon, and most likely get a little steamy while reading.

Read an excerpt from THE BREAKUP

I wanted the blonde.

I have a bad habit of always being attracted to women who are unavailable. Emotionally unavailable. I don’t know why I do that or what it is. If it’s just as simple as wanting what I can’t have, or some deep-seated bullshit about needing to win because I’m one of five kids from a family that was the town joke.

It’s also a protective measure because I’m not parading a bunch of women through my son’s life. I keep it casual. But I could do that with unattached women too, though probably not as easily.

So mostly I think it’s just because I’m an asshole.

Whatever the reasons, it had gotten me into trouble in the past, and as I watched the rich blonde, Bella Bigelow, stumble up to the bar totally drunk on Friday night, I knew I was doing it again. Chasing trouble. I had met her once before and I had thought she was fucking gorgeous. All long legs and tan skin and juicy tits. A perfect face with a lean nose and plump lips that I wanted to suck on.

Her sister was fucking my twin brother.

But her sister wasn’t engaged to be married.

She was.

“What can I get you, Bella?” I asked, leaning on my elbows on the bar top so I would be closer to her. She smelled like a rich girl. All lotions and perfume and expensive clothes. It was amazing to me that someone could smell like money, but she did. Being a bartender in a tourist town on the coast of Maine, I had seen my fair share of rich girls up from Boston. This one shouldn’t be any different.

And yet, for some reason she intrigued me.

“A vodka cranberry,” she said, sounding a little defiant and more than a little drunk.

This was her bachelorette party, and apparently she was taking the last-week-of-freedom crap all very seriously. The first time I had met her she had been sweet and polite. Now she was loud and demanding.

“Sure.” I lifted up a glass and poured vodka in it, reminding myself that while I liked unavailable girls, I didn’t like drunk girls. Not in bed anyway. Too sloppy, too limp. I liked naughty girls who dove into misbehaving with their full wits about them. And their mouths open.

Drunk girls gave the worst blow jobs. It was a proven fact.

“Here you go.” After squirting in the cranberry juice, I slid the glass to her. “Seven bucks.”

“Put it on my tab.” She flicked her long hair over her shoulder and turned to go.

“You closed out your tab,” I reminded her. “Last round.”

She paused and frowned at me. “Then why do you still have my credit card?”

“I don’t.” Her platinum express credit card that read Bradley Alexander, presumably belonging to the rich fiancé, had been returned to her at least fifteen minutes earlier. “I gave it back to you.”

“No, you didn’t.” Now she just sounded belligerent. “What are you trying to pull? Are you trying to steal my credit card?”

That pissed me off. “No. I am not trying to steal your credit card. I gave it back to you. Check your purse.”

“I don’t have a purse.”

“Well, it had to appear from somewhere,” I drawled, using my typical charming voice, not wanting her to see that inside I was seething. My whole life people had been accusing me of shit just because I was a Jordan brother and my father was a thief and a career criminal. I resented the fucking hell out of it. “Maybe you pulled it out of your tight little ass.”

Her jaw dropped. She looked outraged. Yet . . . I knew she found me attractive. I had been noticing her giving me signals all night. She gave me sidelong glances. Her eyelashes batted. She licked her lips. I don’t think she even knew she was doing it, but her body language said she was curious about me. About me in her.

She took a huge gulp of her drink then shook her finger at me. “You can’t talk to me like that.”

“And you can’t steal that drink,” I said mildly. “Someone has to pay for it, and it’s not going to be me.”

“Put it on my tab,” she said. “God, you’re such a local loser.”

There are a lot of things she could have said that wouldn’t have bothered me. But that . . . that got under my skin. It was an old wound and she had just dashed salt on it with her pretentious stare and cutting words.

She stole the drink, whether she realized it or not. I had to assume she was too drunk to know where her credit card was and I could have let that slide. But once she purposely insulted me, I knew I wasn’t going to do the right thing.

Nope. I wanted to fuck her.

And I was going to make her want to fuck me.

“How about this drink is on me,” I said. “By the way, congratulations on your upcoming marriage. I wish you a very long life of happiness with your groom.”

Bella stopped and turned, a troubled look darting across her face briefly. She was wearing a romper with silky straps and a low V-cut in the front. Her hand fluttered over her exposed skin. “Are you making fun of me?” she asked.

I shook my head. “No. Just thinking your fiancé is one lucky motherfucker that he gets to make love to you every night.”

She looked shocked. And aroused. Her chest was heaving. I could see her nipples through the thin fabric. She saw my eyes drop.

But she didn’t say a word. She just clutched her drink and disappeared into the crowd, walking very fast.

I smiled as I adjusted my now hard cock behind the bar.

I gave it four days before she was willing to fuck me.

Five, tops.

Read an excerpt from THE BREAKUP

“Christian, you’re a fucking idiot,” I murmured to myself as I sat in my car behind a classic stone church. I had graduated from being attracted to trouble to picking it up in a church parking lot.

Then she came flying out of the back door of the church, her skirt bundled up in her arms, exposing her legs from the knees down, a veil flowing behind her. She ran in heels like the devil himself was after her, and hell, maybe he was.

I had been shocked that she had texted me, and even more shocked still to find myself offering to pick her up. But Bella had gotten under my skin. Maybe it was seeing her holding my son so sweetly. Maybe it was her humble admission that she wasn’t good in bed. Or more likely it was the fact that she had come to my mom’s still planning to marry an extreme douchebag and had now seen the goddamn light. I didn’t want her to change her mind and lock herself into a life with such a miserable guy.

Am I known for being Mr. Monogamous? No. But I wouldn’t put it off on my girlfriend if I cheated. It would be my fault and I would take responsibility, not make excuses. And hell, I never cheated on a woman I was involved with, because I was never involved. I just helped women cheat.

Yep. Fucking saint sitting at church, that was me.

I started to get out to open the door for her but she called out, winded and hysterical, “Get in and drive!” She yanked open the passenger door, tossed a bag over the seat to the back, and scrambled to get inside.

I slid back behind the wheel and glanced around to see if anyone was coming out after her. “You in?”

There hadn’t been a door slam. She was grappling to get it closed, but finally I heard the click. Her head turned toward me. “Okay, I’m good.”

I hit the locks just in case the door wasn’t completely closed. I would fucking flip out if she spilled onto the road in a wedding dress. “Where are we going?” I asked her.

“Anywhere.” She pushed the veil back off her face with trembling fingers. “Somewhere where no one can see me or find me.”

“I know a place.” We had a piece of property that had belonged to my mother’s father that had been used back in the day for fishing and hunting. There was a dilapidated shack on it and an old railroad caboose my grandfather had thought was cool.

I was driving but I couldn’t stop myself from looking at Bella. She was engulfed in all the trappings of a bride. There was white fabric everywhere, and her hair was curled in long waves. She had on extra makeup and thick, dark eyelashes, and her cleavage was popping. “You look beautiful,” I said, even though it was probably the last thing she wanted to hear. But she did.

She was stunning. Breathtaking. Mouthwatering. Even her anxious breathing just set her cleavage heaving, turning me on. I wanted to yank that bodice down and suck her nipples. Lift her skirt and dive on under there with fingers, mouth, my hard cock. I wanted to yank that tiara veil thing off her head and bury my hands in her hair, tugging her head backward, forcing her to look at me.

I also wanted to hold her naked in my arms and reassure her that she was enough. Sexy. Satisfying.

Maybe I was actually going to have a chance to do all of that.

Review – The Breakup

The Breakup; The Jordan Brothers #2  (Series)
by Erin McCarthy (Author)

This review is from: August 13, 2018 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥🔥

Have you ever been in a situation you wanted to get out of, but felt so backed into a corner that it just felt impossible to escape? Perhaps you had no one to call, no one to rely on because everyone in your life helped back you into that corner; your parents, your friends, your cheating fiancé, even the rules of society didn’t help. Your life was crashing in on you and you could barely breathe, who would you call?

In a state of panic Bella Bigelow called the only person that came to mind, Christian Jordan. He never should have been on her mind, but when you are running from your own wedding his face flashed before her eyes and without thinking she dialed his number. Before she knew what she was doing she jumped into his “getaway car” and she ran away from the only life she’d ever dreamed of. All she’d ever wanted was to be a wife and a mother and in an instant she threw it all away, but it was better than making the biggest mistake of her life, marrying a lying, cheating scumbag.

Christian Jordan was known for finding trouble. He was excellent at it. Bella Bigelow is trouble in every sense of the word. She’s beautiful, she’s rich, and she’s taken.  Christian has his own problems raising his son without any support from the birth mother. He really doesn’t need more trouble in his life, but when it literally comes calling, he doesn’t say no. He is drawn to Bella in a way he hasn’t been drawn to anyone else before and the more time he spends with her the harder it is to walk away even when every instinct inside him says he should.

When all the cards are finally on the table for these two and it comes down to, should they progress as a couple, or was the time they spent together post runaway-bride-nightmare just a fling?

I read this book, not knowing it was book 2 of a series. Erin McCarthy is a pro and I had no trouble jumping right in and following along as if this was a standalone.  Christian was extremely likeable, especially when he considered putting his family first and Bella’s worries and concerns are very realistic. A very enjoyable read.
