Waiting for Snow; Sparks in Texas #7
(A holiday novella within a series)

by: Mari Carr

Review Rating:

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

The perfect steamy holiday novella to slip in during the upcoming holiday festivities.

While Adele is hoping for the perfect man to fill her stocking she was beginning to think the chances of that happening were as high as waiting for snow to fall in Texas. What she doesn’t know is Porter has his sights set on her and Adele is the perfect gift to unwrap under his Christmas tree.

This was my first time venturing into the Sparks in Texas world and I felt right at home even with this being a novella. Mari Carr’s writing is always top notch and I’m looking forward to squeezing more of this series into my upcoming schedule.

Synopsis:

She might be too big to sit on Santa’s lap, but Adele still has a couple of Christmas wishes. First, a night in Porter’s bed. The alpha cowboy is the king of one-night stands, so it shouldn’t be too much to ask. Follow it up with a White Christmas in Texas? She’ll have gotten everything she wants.

Porter doesn’t believe in asking for what he wants, but he’s got a couple of problems. He believes in riding it down and roping it up. If he gets Adele in his bed, he’s not planning to let her go. But there’s his reputation to overcome, and her stubbornness to boot. It might just take a holiday miracle to convince her to stay all year.

EXCERPT

Jinx had opened his heart to her, and it was time she did the same. “I’m ready.”
He looked confused. “For?”
“I’m done fighting my feelings for you. It was easy to push you away when it was nothing more than physical attraction. You’re gorgeous, and you’ve got a body to die for. Those things I could resist. But you’re the kindest, sweetest, most generous man I’ve ever known. And…” Tears burned.
“No, no more tears. I can’t take it.”
She shook her head. She needed to say this. “But you’re so good with my son.” She held his gaze, and emotion swelled so big and hard she couldn’t contain it. “I like you so much, Jinx, and I…” She got up on her toes, clasped a hand around his neck and drew his mouth down to hers. “I really want to kiss you.”
The first brush of lips sent sparks shooting through her. This big, hard muscled man was so gentle, his lips soft. He kissed her like she was a precious thing, like he wanted to savor this moment he’d waited so long for.
But she was too needy, too desperate for him. Licking into his mouth, she felt a shudder run through his body. When their tongues collided, the world burst into a shower of stars, and—Oh, my God—she’d never wanted anyone the way she wanted him. “You think your mom will mind if we leave without her?”
Grabbing her hand, he led her across the dance floor and whispered into his mom’s ear. She glanced to Skylar, looking concerned.
When he came back to her, she said, “What did you tell your mom?”
“I might’ve said I needed to get you to bed.”
“You what?” She nudged him. “You did not tell your mom we’re leaving to have sex.”
He grinned.
Jinx.”
Right there on the dance floor, he cupped her chin, forcing her to look him in the eyes. “Just so we’re clear, I get that you’re away from your son, you’re in Vegas, and you want to have some fun. But I don’t want an hour with you. I don’t want one night.”
“What do you want?”
“Everything.” His desire for her made her knees buckle. “I want everything with you.”

EXCERPT

Closing my eyes, I take a bite and savor the crisp crust and warm, soft center. There’s nothing better than fresh-baked bread. It reminds me of home and being in the kitchen with my grandmomma.
I open my eyes to find him watching me, his gaze intense with newfound heat. “Good?” His brows arch and amusement curves his lips.
Ignoring the throb between my legs, I take another bite, not stopping until I’ve finished.
Harry returns with our drinks, advising our food will be out momentarily. I guess Marcus is joining me for dinner. I didn’t necessarily agree, but it seems too late to turn him away now.
Marcus butters more bread for himself and then for me. “I never meant to make an enemy of you, or your grandmother.” His voice is gentle, soothing my frayed nerves. “On the contrary, I’ve always hoped we could be more.”
“More? You’re trying to buy my building, take my grandparents’ antique store from me. That’s my home, my job. It’s… everything. What more could you possibly want, a kidney?” My voice having reached a volume I don’t care for, I ease back, taking a deep breath, and let it out slowly.
Composed, I continue. “Can we not do this today?”
I’m interrupted by Harry with our meal. He sets down two steaming bowls of Thai noodle soup and another basket of fresh bread.
“Enjoy.” He bows as he backs away.
“Thanks, Harry,” we say simultaneously.
My gaze flies to Marcus. He knows Harry’s name? I pegged Marcus as being too self-important to bother learning his name—or anyone else who serves him. Maybe I’m the one who doesn’t know who Marcus is.
Marcus smiles and points to my soup. “Shrimp bowl?”
“It’s my favorite.” I note he’s having the same.
“Me too.” He cocks his head. “See, we have something in common. I bet if you got to know me, you’d see we share more than just a love of Thai shrimp noodle soup.”
More? Somehow, I doubt that. I have nothing in common with this man. I can’t deny I’m attracted to him, but his rugged good looks, finger-tousled dark hair, and tall, muscular build cannot compensate for the truth of what he wants.
“Why not today?” Reading my perplexed expression, he clarifies. “I said I’d hoped we could be more, and you said I was taking everything from you, then you asked if we could not do this today.”
“Oh, yes. That.” I stir my soup and take a tentative sip. It’s good and hot, liquid gold. I fish around, playing with the noodles. “I’d just rather not fight today. That’s all.”
He leans closer. “I’d rather not fight with you any day. But, why not today in particular?” He’s a determined SOB.
I study my bowl like it’s the most interesting thing in the room—which would be a lie. The man across from me clearly holds that title. The heat of his gaze burrows into my brain.
I can’t say it out loud. I can’t bear the pity I might see on his face if I were to look up. I shake my head, taking another sip of soup and then a long drink of water, blinking back my tears.
“It’s a year today,” he says with reverence.
Smart man. I guess he is paying attention.

EXCERPT

“Look.” I point at the recipe. “Flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, lemon zest, salt, almond milk, canola oil, vanilla, lemon juice, and fresh blueberries. The streusel on top has some vegan butter in it, but that’s everything. Promise.”
He leans close enough that I can smell the sharp clean scent of his body wash and expensive aftershave.
“Huh. Well they’re way better than the last ones.” He practically inhales another one.
My teeth sink into my lower lip and tug. “Um, yeah. I over-mixed those. And I didn’t know you were supposed to mix your wet and dry ingredients separately. My mom gave me some tips this time.”
His eyes drop to my mouth but I’m not sure why. Jonah doesn’t see me like that. He never looks at my mouth. Maybe the way to his heart really is through his stomach.
“Can I keep this?” He retrieves the recipe from the countertop. “I might have Erma make a big batch for some friends of mine.”
“Mmhm.” I’m temporarily stunned from the way he’s openly watching my mouth. Our faces are close enough to touch.
Erma is his housekeeper and she’s an amazing cook. I’d be jealous of her but she’s sixty and looks like Mrs. Doubtfire so I don’t think she’s Jonah’s type.
“Thanks. Don’t give the dogs any of my muffins,” he teases.
Zeus gave up long ago but Achilles is still staring longingly at the muffins.
He moves to exit the kitchen and my brain resumes full function once he’s out of my personal space.
“Jonah, wait.”
He turns, his hip bones doing that sexy V thing that make my mouth water.
“I actually need that recipe back.” My body shifts into panic mode as he regards me warily with the recipe in his hand. “I’ll type you up a better copy. I need to make a few adjustments anyway and I can’t remember what website I got that one from.”
My heart is racing and my words are coming out on top of one another.
Jonah’s expression says I’m acting as crazed as I feel.
He doesn’t make a move to give it back.
“Jonah, seriously. I need that one. Please.”
I have no poker face. I’m practically begging and that is not like me.
“You need it?” He cocks his head to the side, amusement dancing in his eyes.
For a few seconds, I worry he’s going to pull some big brother crap on me—hold it over my head and make me jump for it or something. I get enough of that from Mikey and Tony. I definitely don’t need it from Jonah.
Thankfully he just shakes his head and starts to hand it back.
Until his eyes catch the writing on the back.
“What’s this?” He glances at me then back at the list. “Your Christmas wish list on here, Rossi?”
“Give it back, Jonah. I’m serious.” I can’t breathe.
I reach for it and he steps backward. “Hang on a minute. I need to know what to get you for Christmas.”
His eyebrows shoot up as soon as he makes out the words. His lips move as he reads. I never noticed that before.
I give myself a mental slap. I’m losing sight of what’s important here.
“Adult toys, lingerie, and law breaking?” Jonah nods appreciatively. “Aren’t you a busy little elf this holiday season?”
“Shut up. My sister-in-law wrote that. She thought it would show you that I deserve the job.” I sigh heavily. “You’ve had your fun. Now give it back.”
He hasn’t made it to number six yet.
Please, sweet baby Jesus, don’t let him make it to number six.
“Hang on,” he says, reaching out and keeping me at arm’s length. “What else have we got here?”
“Jonah!” I make a grab for the list, swiping my hand wildly, hoping to at least tear it.
I miss, catching his towel instead.
In one split-second, my entire universe takes a hard left.
Jonah’s towel falls and he is naked, holding a piece of paper that suggests I sit on his face.

EXCERPT

The thought of warmth, of sitting by a fire—if she was lucky—forced her to increase her pace. And like a miracle sent from heaven, she was within twenty feet of a small cabin decked out with a short porch, just enough room to fit a bench.
Her steps slowed.
She was freezing. Maybe to the point of hypothermia. Okay, probably a little exaggeration on her part, but she was bone-deep cold.
Yet, she walked like a snail, taking her time to the front door.
What would she say?
Better yet, what would he say?
Well, James wasn’t a cruel man, he wouldn’t turn her away. He’d let her in. Let her warm up.
But would he accept her apology? Could they go back to their easy camaraderie? Could they still be friends and hang out even if he didn’t work at the hospital anymore?
Only one way to find out.
Moving faster, she walked right up to the door and knocked loudly. No hesitation. No thinking about his reaction.
Shivering, more than she had when she had been walking, she wondered if she didn’t knock hard enough. She thought she had. But why wasn’t he answering?
Raising her gloved fist again, she swung it forward, nearly tripping on her feet when the door swung open. Losing her balance from the surprise, her fist knocked into his chest instead of the door.
James caught her around the waist, holding her steady.
The shock in his eyes mesmerized her. A mixture of confusion, surprise, and amazement.
“Erin? What…” His brows puckered low. “What are you doing here?”
That long treacherous walk she just completed, she had all the time in the world to come up with something good to say.
And nothing. No words came out. Not even her apology she wanted to offer.
Although she couldn’t feel anything through her large winter coat, his soft touch, his sweet hands on her waist was rendering her speechless.
She had never been in his arms before. Not even in a small hug.
Right now, right here, in this moment, she wanted to be completely in his arms. She wanted to close the distance and soak up his warmth, his kindness, his sweetness. Let him know in that one big gesture how much she cared about him. Because no matter what anyone said or thought about him, he was a sweet, kind, thoughtful man.
When was the last time someone other than his sister told him how important he was in their lives?
Without a word, she dropped her fist from his chest, stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him.

Review – Holiday Ever After Anthology

Holiday Ever After Anthology
by Kimberly KincaidAmy Andrews, Kate Canterbary, J.H. Croix, Erika Kelly, Maria Luis, Natasha Madison, Erin Nicholas, Lucy Score, Lili ValenteWillow Winters (authors)

This review is from: November 27, 2019 By Kay Daniels
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥🔥

The lineup is FANTASTIC!!! The stories are brilliant!! You may recognize the characters from previous books and fall in love with the all new stories written by these great authors OR may find an author you haven’t read before and begin making a new TBR wish list for Christmas and begin finding new worlds to fall in love with. Either way, this is the joy of reading anthologies, there is something for everyone and you seriously can’t go wrong with this lovely holiday treat.

In Holiday Ever After the stories are quick and fun and they all revolve around the holidays in some way or the other so you really can’t go wrong. You will be able to pick up a story in between running errands, wrapping presents, drinking cocoa, basically every holiday thing on your checklist. There is no need to feel stressful during the holiday season when you can add in a short romance break.

The lineup includes:

MILF on the Shelf by Lili Valente: Adorable, fake boyfriend love with Lili’s humor thrown in. Love in the big city and a strange Christmas toilet. Yes, I said toilet 🙂

Must Love Alligators by Erin Nicholas: The Boys of of the Bayou are back with a quick Christmas tale involving Chase and Bailey. Is Bailey back to talk about endangered animals, or catch a certain med student?

Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Red Bikini Trouble by Amy Andrews: A second chance love story in our favorite town of Credence, Co. that involves a bikini, a selfie stick, and lots of trouble.

Planes, Trains and Head Over Heels by Erika Kelly: Two opposites are forced to ride out a storm in the worst possible conditions, but end up finding more in common than they ever imagined.

Baby, It’s Cold Outside by Kimberly Kincaid: Back at Remington Medical where love is always in the air. Sophia has been trying to stay away from Dr. Malone, but it turns out Dr. Cocky may have the perfect remedy for what she’s been running from after all.

Due to time constraints and the upcoming holidays, I’ve only made it through half of the anthology, but here is a brief synopsis of the other stories within the anthology. Enjoy and happy holidays!

Mistletoe Kisser by Lucy Score: Two veterinarians and a chance at a second first kiss.

That Snowy Night by J.H. Croix: A second chance romance. I adore these stories and then mix in some holiday magic…well it is just perfect.

Professional Development by Kate Canterbury: Enemies to lovers romance and the holidays mixed togethers.

Tempt the Assistant by Natasha Madison: A company Christmas party and two co-workers who have feelings for one another.

Kissing the Gentleman by Maria Luis: Hilarious workplace romance.

All I Want is a Kiss by Willow Winters: Two business partners who have also had something on the side, but can this be the season to ask for something more?

Image may contain: 2 people

It will only be available as a collection for a very limited time, so snatch it up while you can!

This holiday getaway is exactly what the doctor ordered. I’m ready to close that heartbreaking chapter in my life for good and start the new year with a bang.

All I want for the holidays is the willpower to resist my brother’s sexy, charming, easy-on-the-eyes new business partner.

Instead, I’m stuck planning all the holiday parties with the one guy who makes me want to break my dating diet.

Who thought that was a good idea?

Oh, me. Yep, brilliant, strategic me who raised her hand and said yes I’d love to hang mistletoe with that hot former sports star. (Note to self: Mistletoe leads to toe-curling, knee-weakening kisses.)

Special Delivery; Always Satisfied #5 (Series)
by Lauren Blakely (Author)

This review is from: November 8, 2019 By Kay Daniels
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥

A holiday novella that is so, so flirty it jumped into the absolutely adorable category. Quinn and Vaughn are cute and sugary sweet, while being just a touch dirty, they are the perfect couple that Blakely could have delivered for the holidays!

Special Delivery is a novella set in the Satisfied world, where we just met Quinn’s brother, Josh Summers and briefly met Vaughn Channing when he was competing for a same sports contract against Josh before ultimately beginning a new agent company with Josh and two others, called Premiere.

Both Vaughn and Quinn have been burned by ex’s before and they are currently not dating, looking to date, or even looking for brief flings. They are both so entrenched in not looking for love that it seems inevitable that it would be hand delivered, on a platter, right to them.

This Christmas, wrapped up in a bow, special ordered, and waiting under a Christmas tree (no peeking Quinn) there is a special delivery waiting for these two, if they both stop protesting how much they don’t want to date.

If you love Hallmark movies, with a splash of dirty…you will love Special Delivery.

EXCERPT

“That’s only the office. My office. The rest of the house is gray, white, and black,” I explain as I show him all the pictures. “The master bedroom is going to be pink because of the bedding, but I’ll take it with me.”
He looks at me suspiciously and says, “Fine, you have good taste. Get neutral bedding, I’m not sleeping on a pink bed.”
You’re not sleeping with me, I don’t say.
“We just need a Christmas tree,” I add, wondering if I should buy an artificial one or a pine.
Scanning the house where we’re at, I find the perfect spot and walk toward it. “Here.”
“What’s happening there?” Sterling’s frown deepens.
“That’s where we’re setting the Christmas tree,” I answer, already thinking about the colors that will fit the house. “What do you have in storage? Any red or gold ornaments? I mean, if you already have a color scheme, I’ll work with it, but shades of red and gold would pop with your decor.”
Sterling looks at me. More like he gives me a nasty glare. “We don’t do Christmas or celebrate any holidays. The only colors I have in this house are in my studios and well, you. Their only purpose is to create art.”
I frown and place my hands on my hips. “I’m a color?”
He grins and winks at me. “A very special one but let’s not digress.”
“What are you saying? I’m not allowed to have a Christmas tree and fill my space with cheer and joy.”
“You can do it for the rental. That’s your place for the next year and you can set Santa’s Workshop in there if you want to.”
“Hmm.”
“You’re judging me.”
“Not at all. Just wondering how we can get the pine here and we’ll need decorations,” I continue and turn to look at Beckett. “You seem like a resourceful man. Can you make this happen for us?”
Beckett smirks. “Red and gold?”
“Add some silver too it if you can find it. And if you see some decorations that’ll go with the ornaments, send me pictures before you buy them. The place looks bare.”
“No,” Sterling protests.
“I’ll have the team work on it. We’ll help you trim once we have what you need, Miss Spearman.”
“Thank you, Beck.”
“Juniper, I swear,” Sterling utters, his face is red, and it’s kind of funny to see him flustered.
“Yeah, you can swear. I’ve heard you for the past week. Also, I know you can use some holiday cheer and I’m here to share it with you.”
“Over my dead body.” He sounds stern.
“Beck might be able to do that too if you insist,” I say. “He seems to be trained to take down bad guys and I bet he knows how to hide your body and make your disappearance look like a holiday miracle.”
He doesn’t say a word, but I see there’s a smile playing on his lips.

TheTroubleWithChristmas_1600(1)

All Suzanne St. Michelle wants is an over-the-top, eggnog-induced holiday with her best friend in Credence, Colorado. But when her hoity-toity parents insist she come home for Christmas in New York, she blurts out that her sexy landlord is actually her boyfriend and she can’t leave him—Joshy loves Christmas. The more twinkle lights the better.

Rancher Joshua Grady does not love Christmas. Or company, or chatty women. Unfortunately for him, the chattiest woman ever has rented the cottage on his ranch, invited her rich, art-scene parents, and now insists he play “fake rancher boyfriend” in a production of the Hokiest Christmas Ever. And somehow…she gets him to agree.

Apparently, he’ll do anything to get his quiet life back. At least there’s mistletoe every two feet—and kissing Suzy is surprisingly easy. But in the midst of acres of tinsel, far too many tacky Christmas sweaters, and a tree that can be seen from space, he’s starting to want what he lost when he was a kid—a family. Too bad it’s with a woman heading back to New York before the ball drops…

Excerpt

Grady barely felt the chill as he stripped off his freezing, sodden shirt in the equally freezing concrete shell of the mudroom. The silence was distracting. Too distracting, and he could think of little else. The last three mornings, he’d gone about his chores serenaded by chanting monks. Which was strange but…whatever. It didn’t bother him or the animals, and it gave his ranch hands something to laugh about.

Except now there was no music. And that was bothering him, because he suddenly realized he was thinking about her—something he’d been trying not to do. Had her power gone out? Was she sick? Had she fallen in the cottage and smacked her head on the stone floor? Had some kind of seizure? Was she unconscious? Had she decided to up and leave?

Yeah, right…he should be so lucky.

Grady shook his head, growling to himself as he flicked off the running faucet and plunged his hands into the steaming-hot sink of water, washing off the caked-on muck from his hands and arms and chest courtesy of a calf that had gotten itself bogged in a freezing quagmire caused by recent rain and melting almost-frozen ground.

He’d managed to rope it out with the help of two of his hands, its plaintive mooing and the distress of its mother keeping everyone focused on the job but somehow, when they were almost there, he’d managed to lose his balance and fall into the frigid mud.

His hands had laughed their asses off as they’d dragged his out of the muck.

The hot water felt good on his chilled skin as he picked up the cake of soap and lathered his arms and chest and neck. He needed a real shower, of course, but he’d learned a long time ago to wash up before he went inside. The plumbing in the mudroom was way more forgiving than the more delicate pipes inside the cabin.

Thankfully his jeans weren’t as mucky. Ordinarily he’d have stripped them off in the mudroom, too, and walked from the barn to the cabin in his underwear—isolated living did have its advantages—but he wasn’t about to do that with Suzanne St. Michelle nearby.

And great…just great. He was thinking about her again.

He obviously wasn’t getting laid enough. Just how long had it been since he’d been with a woman? Well over a year ago. Probably closer to two. Because that had to be it, that had to be the reason he couldn’t stop thinking about the curvy New Yorker even though she’d stayed on her turf exactly as he had demanded.

Reaching with one hand for the fresh towel that hung over the hook above the sink, he pulled the plug with the other, then proceeded to towel dry. At least up until he heard a faint gasp and spun around to find the woman on his mind standing just inside the doorway, her curves hidden in a huge red coat, that green knitted cap pulled down low over her forehead and ears.

His hands paused mid drying the back of his neck. The room wasn’t big, maybe five feet by five feet, which meant she was way closer to him than he was comfortable with, given his state of undress.

“Oh…I’m…sorry.” Her breath misted into the frigid air as her voice faltered. “I didn’t know you were in here.”

Her eyes fell to his chest, zeroed in on the nickel-size scar just beneath his right collarbone courtesy of some shrapnel, before straying to his pecs and abs for what seemed like forever, the awkward silence stretching. Normally Grady wouldn’t bother filling it because silences were where he felt most comfortable and the other person generally rushed in to fill them up. But Suzanne wasn’t bothering, either.

At least not with her mouth anyway.

Her eyes were a different story. They were having an entire conversation as they roved all over his chest. She was looking at him like he was a slice of one of Annie’s pies, and Christ if that wasn’t like a bullet straight to his dick. The kind of friendly fire he could do without.

Fucking hell. He didn’t want to be pie. Not this woman’s. Not any woman’s. He wanted to be…tofu. Nobody lusted after tofu.

“Had some trouble with a calf.” Grady felt like an explanation might help the situation, but he still felt like an idiot making small talk.

“Was it being born?” She pulled her gaze from his abs to his eyes. “Did you have to stick your hand up inside and drag it out? I saw that on a documentary once and couldn’t believe how messy it was. And how calm the mother was. I mean, I’m not sure I’d be okay to just stand there while someone stuck their entire arm up my hoo-ha, right?”

She hesitated for a moment like she’d done the first day they’d met, like she wasn’t sure this was a topic for polite conversation. But her mouth had already committed, so she jutted her chin and went for it.

“I know it has to be done and, let’s face it, a calf is much bigger than a man’s arm—”

Her gaze dropped to his arms via the scar, his chest, and his belly button. She was looking at him like pie again. Annie’s pecan pie with melted butter. Sweet and savory all at once. An orgasm for the tongue.

Not tofu. Plain, tasteless, orgasmlessTofu.

“Even yours,” she continued, forcing her gaze back to his face, and it took Grady a moment to pick up the thread of her ramblings. She shuddered. “But no thank you. I mean, seriously, females of all species really do get a raw deal. I bet you if the males had to push out disproportionately bigger babies through the passage provided for the process, they’d have invented some kind of handy zipper system a long time ago. Some dude would have patented the bejesus out of it.”

She stopped abruptly, snapping her lips closed as if her mouth had finally received the frantic shut the fuck up messages from her brain. Her cheeks looked pink, but then so did her nose, so it was probably just the nippy December weather.

Grady stared at her, not only at the amount of words she’d spoken but at the content of her monologue. “We…” He spoke because it felt like his turn, but he didn’t even know what to do about cows with zippers. “We don’t calve in winter.”

“Oh, right.” She nodded briskly, her cheeks definitely growing pinker now. “That makes sense. Who wants to be cold and in pain, right?”

She gave a funny little half smile that ended quickly and awkwardly. Then they just stood and stared at each other for several beats longer than was normal or even comfortable, their warm breaths misting into the air.

Tucking her hands into the pockets of her red coat, she said, “I hope it’s okay to have a look around?”

Grady gave a brief, terse nod. “Just don’t go too far or go near the animals.” Last thing he needed was to rescue some damn fool city slicker who’d wandered off and gotten herself lost.

She nodded absently as her gaze drifted again, licking over his chest, lingering on the scar. He should be freezing, half-naked in a room that was little more than an icebox, but with her looking at him like she was trying to commit every line and chest hair to memory, he only felt hot.

Really fucking hot. Melted butter on pecan pie hot.

“I hope—” Her voice sounded a little uneven, and she cleared her throat. “I hope my music hasn’t been disturbing you the last few days.”

He wasn’t sure why she was making small talk—although it was preferable to incessant observations about cow hoo-has and zippers. Nor was he sure why he was standing ramrod straight in front of her, thinking about pie when he should be grabbing the spare shirt he kept in the cupboard above the washbasin and getting decent.

But up had been down since the moment she’d arrived.

“It’s fine,” he dismissed. It hadn’t been the music that had been disturbing him, that was for sure.

She nodded again, glancing around the room briefly before settling her eyes back on his chest. “Well…I guess I’ll…” She didn’t finish the sentence as her gaze once again zeroed in on the scar, and her lips rolled together in contemplation. “Do you mind—?” She stepped forward and raised her hand tentatively.

When he didn’t move because he was paralyzed by the realization she was actually going to touch him, she became bolder, stepping in closer again as her fingers made contact. She was so close now, he could smell her. Coffee and snickerdoodles? And something sharp, maybe chemical. Paint, he supposed.

“Is it a bullet wound?”

Grady flinched as she touched the scar, her fingers like icicles as they sunk into the small indentation. He closed his eyes as heat bloomed from the center, spreading like a ripple, burning like a furnace down the length of his body.

Blood pulsed hard and thick, everywhere. Damn it, she might as well be wrapping that cold hand around the throbbing hardness pressing into the zipper of his fly. It was probably forty degrees in this concrete box, but it felt like a sauna, and it was an easy 120 inside his boxers.

He swallowed. “It’s from…shrapnel.”

He had no idea why he wasn’t stepping back. He should step back. He should have said, Yes, I do mind, told her it was none of her business. He should be finding a shirt.

Find a fucking shirt, idiot.

“Did it hurt?”

Surprised by the question, he glanced down to find the bulky knit of her hat a whisker away from brushing the underside of his chin. “Like a bastard.”

She looked up and they were close—her mouth was close—her fingers a balm to the old wound that still made his shoulder ache on cold winter mornings. His heart thumped like a jungle drum and god almighty, it was hot enough in here to grow bananas.

“Was it bad? Did you bleed a lot?”

His throat was dry as the concrete beneath his feet. “It bled some.” Then, finally getting his shit together, he took a step back, and her hand slid away.

If his distancing bothered her, she didn’t show it, just simply said, “Thank you for your service.”

Grady didn’t know what to say. He never knew what to say to this standard platitude. He appreciated the sentiment, but he’d just been doing his job. So he nodded, his pulse reverberating like a dinner gong in his ears, as she slowly backed out of the room and disappeared from sight.

Reaching for the sink, Grady gripped the curved edge in both his hands and hunched over, dropping his head down between his shoulder blades and taking some deep steadying breaths.

January could not come soon enough.

EXCERPT

“But you are… You’re going to run a Christmas tree farm?”
“At least temporarily. Everything’s ready to go now, which means finishing out the year, or the next few years, is guaranteed money in the bank to begin other ventures. There’s contracts already made with outfits around the country, truckers on hand to drive the things to their destinations. And he owns that small lot down on the main street of town. So, I’m all set not only to sell this year’s crop around the country, but also sell it here.”
“But you don’t… You don’t actually want to…be a Christmas tree farmer?”
“My ultimate goal is cattle,” he said.
She’d had no idea. None at all. Not that he wanted his own ranch, not that he’d been unhappy at the school. Was he unhappy at the school? Was he leaving?
“What does this mean for your position at the school?”
“I will be leaving. Which I will be talking to Gabe about later tonight.”
“But…”
“With West Caldwell coming into town, there’s no need for me to hang around. He’s going to be working on the ranch.”
“Your half brother that you’ve never met. That’s putting a lot of stock in a man you don’t even know.”
“Gabe figures we owe him. And, since Gabe is awash in guilt over the whole half sibling thing, I figure that works in my favor.”
As much as Ellie loved Hank Dalton, the patriarch of the Dalton clan, it was becoming more and more clear that he was problematic. A couple of years ago it had been discovered that he had a daughter that none of them had known about. McKenna Tate. She’d come into town after discovering the identity of her family, and after some adjusting, the Dalton family had welcomed her into the full. But on the heels of that revelation had come another one.
There were three more children. All adults now.
Hank had never known about them. But Tammy had.
It had changed the relationship, that reveal.
But Hank was awash enough in the guilt from the actions in his past, that the two of them were trying to work through it to an extent. And Ellie really hoped that they did. For some selfish reasons, if she was honest. Because she loved them, and they were the closest thing to a family for her, and she didn’t want to lose them.
“But… Don’t you want to wait and see if it’s going to work out?”
“No,” Caleb said. “I don’t want to work at the school forever. This is what I want.”
That made her…angry and she couldn’t figure out exactly why. He deserved to have dreams; of course he did. But she’d just…assumed he was happy with the way things were. She’d somehow meshed his dreams together with hers.
Had decided that what she was doing with his family ranch, with the school, was what he wanted, too.
But if she didn’t feel great about him fighting fires anymore, maybe he didn’t, either. And she’d never asked. She’d only thought about it in terms of her own comfort. That wasn’t right at all.
Still, the idea of him having his own endeavors, his own life farther away from her and not right all around her while they worked…
She needed him. She really had. She still did.
She didn’t like this…this change. But she should be happy for him, and it made her feel… She felt bad. And she didn’t like feeling bad about something that was good for her friend.
“I’d… Well, congratulations,” she said. Even though she didn’t feel like congratulating him at all. She felt like having a tantrum.
She really didn’t know why.
“Thank you,” he said, his mouth quirking up into a half smile that made it very clear he was well aware she wasn’t having the best reaction to his news.
“I’ll miss seeing you.” The words more plaintive than she intended.
“I’m not moving away,” he said.
“Yeah, but I see you all the time,” she protested.
“You will still see me all the time.”
“But you won’t be dropping Amelia off when I want you to.”
“Probably not.”
Her stomach twisted, but that wasn’t what was upsetting her. She knew it wasn’t.
And then it hit her, as strongly as that melancholy had when she’d realized it was nearly the Christmas season.
This phase of life was over.
The one where he was here to carry her. Where she had a crutch to get her through what life looked like without Clint. Being a single mother.
It was changing.
It had begun to change months ago, when the idea for the school had come about. She had gone back to work.
But she’d been a fledgling, and he’d been there to help her.
Maybe she needed to make some changes, too.
Maybe, instead of dreading Christmas, she needed to get started on her wish list.

TheTroubleWithChristmas_1600(1)

All Suzanne St. Michelle wants is an over-the-top, eggnog-induced holiday with her best friend in Credence, Colorado. And somehow…she gets him to agree.

Apparently, he’ll do anything to get his quiet life back. At least there’s mistletoe every two feet—and kissing Suzy is surprisingly easy. EXCERPT

“I wouldn’t miss the wedding for anything.” Katie needed to meet Dan in person and figure out a way to save her sister from herself. And if she managed it early on in the week, then they might still all be home in time to spend Christmas in Honeysuckle Cottage.
With luck, her mother would be too focused on Rosie to notice that anything was wrong with Katie. “I can’t wait to be Bridesmaid of Honor, or whatever the correct title is. Don’t dress me in purple polyester, that’s all I ask. I don’t want static shock. And don’t spend too much money.” Because this wedding isn’t happening. She turned as the door opened and Mike walked into the room. “I need to go. I’m at work.”
“I’m proud of you. Katie. I tell everyone my big sister is a doctor.”
Big sister is falling apart.
She was a fraud. “Go. Have fun, but not so much fun you forget your inhalers.”
“Katie—”
“I know. I’m the inhaler police. Party. Live life. I’ll call you tomorrow.” She ended the call and slid her feet back into her shoes.
Mike raised an eyebrow. “Nothing like giving out advice you don’t take yourself. When did you last party and live life?”
“I’m partying in my mind. I’m at a virtual party right now.”
“Does that come with a virtual hangover? Who is getting married?”
“My sister. In less than four weeks.”
“This is the sister who is studying fairy tales?”
Katie winced. “I might have overdone that joke. She’s studying Celtic languages, myth and folklore at a certain Ivy League college. She would claim it contributes to the understanding of the culture and beliefs of society. It has been the subject of many lively arguments round the dinner table. She really is super smart, but I still think of her as my little sister and I overdo the teasing.” She rubbed her forehead with her fingers. “It feels like yesterday I was reading her board books.”
“Big age difference?”
“Ten years. I think my parents had given up on having another child, and then Rosie arrived.”
“And you were hit by a massive dose of sibling jealousy?”
“What?” Katie stared at him. “No. I adored her. Right from the first moment I saw her funny little hairless head.” She thought about Rosie, an adorable toddler, following her everywhere. Rosie in her favorite dinosaur pajamas. Rosie turning blue with an asthma attack. “I confess I might be a tad overprotective, which is why I’m flying to Colorado to meet this guy.”
“You haven’t met him?”
“No. And don’t look at me that way. I’m already freaked out. They’ve known each other a couple of months. What can you know about someone in a few months? What if he’s a gambler, or a narcissist? He could be a psychopath. Maybe a serial killer.”
He leaned against the door and folded his arms. “Dr. Doom. Always the optimist.”
“I am not Dr. Doom. I am Dr. Reality, thanks to the years I’ve spent working here. Having the realities of life under your nose tends to cure optimism. There are no certainties in this life, we both know that.”
“All the more reason to grab the happy moments that come your way. Maybe a couple of weeks enjoying outdoor living and breathing in mountain air will be good for you.”
“Maybe.” Blocking out his concerned look, she let the door swing closed behind her.
She didn’t care about outdoor living. She didn’t care about mountain air. She didn’t even care about a white Christmas.
She was flying to Colorado for one reason, and one reason only.
She was going to stop her sister’s wedding.

Review – The Trouble With Christmas by Amy Andrews

The Trouble With Christmas; Credence, Colorado #2 (Series)
by Amy Andrews (Author)

This review is from: September 16, 2019 By Kay Daniels
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥🔥

LOL fun!! I love reading Amy Andrews books and The Trouble With Christmas is filled with crazy holiday fun, a grinch-like rancher, crazy faux inspired paintings and one dominatrix Barbie Christmas tree topper. This is a holiday book you do not want to miss.

What could possibly go wrong when Suzanne St. Michelle tells one tiny lie to her parents in hopes that they won’t visit her while she’s staying in Credence, CO this holiday season? What is this tiny lie you ask? She’s dating the grumpy rancher, Joshua Grady, whom she’s currently renting the cottage from. She may have also embellished the small lie and told her parents that Josh LOVES Christmas. That he is something like a Christmas fairy, sprinkling that stuff around like fairy dust in his good cheer. Josh in fact tries to avoid anything to do with the season, but I’ll get to that.  You see, Suzanne was only trying to keep her parents in New York. She only wanted to spend Christmas with her friend, in a very over the top way like a Hallmark movie. So there was nothing wrong with a little lie…right?  Try telling that to the grinch…I mean Josh.

Joshua Grady prefers solitude. He also prefers answering people with one word replies if asked anything. You see, Grady, as he prefers to be called, isn’t much for conversation or people. So when Suzanne rents his cottage, he isn’t thrilled, but he’s able to stay away, so no harm no foul. But when Suzanne approaches him about this hairbrained scheme to be her fake rancher boyfriend when her parents decide to visit for the holidays…well he has more than just one word to say about that. He doesn’t like the holidays for a reason and he certainly doesn’t like his solitary alone time to be encroached upon…but she also offers up a deal that he can’t refuse. If only the deal doesn’t break Suzanne’s muse in the process.

I love the town and the townsfolk of Credence, Co. They add so much color and life to the story. Grady and Suzanne have great chemistry, along with a great back and forth that will have you chuckling out loud. The holiday items mentioned that are outrageously over the top had me laughing so hard. This was like watching Clark Griswald light up his home on TV, but better because it was Grady’s. Amy Andrews filled every nook and cranny with a garish Christmas item and I loved the creative touches her mind came up with. Pulling Grady out of his grinch-ish mood was a fantastic transformation to read and I loved every moment.

I Loved a Warlock from Wichita by Brigitte Ann Thomas

Spark of Solstice by A.K. Hudson

Tarnished Knight by K. Williams

Maia has resigned herself to living life alone, but lately
she’s been restless. Maybe it has something to do with the
handsome, hurt stranger who comes to the diner every night
to walk her to her car after work. When she decides it’s time
to try new things, the first impulsive act on her list is
inviting Dominic to Thanksgiving dinner.

Dominic is nursing wounds from the past, but in Maia he
sees a chance to start again – a chance at the wife and
family he’s always wanted. But when his feelings for Maia
overwhelm him, will he run, or will he stand and fight for their love like a knight in tarnished armor?

Santa’s Curse by T. A. Moorman

What if Santa was a vampire?

Jacquelyn, an enchantress with an overprotective streak, thinks it’s up to her to protect her older sister, Jadine, an enchantress who’s also a paranoid hypochondriac. So, whenever a male comes along trying to use Jadine, Jackie gets rid of them, in a non-conventional way. When the last person Jacquelyn expects, a certain vampire she’s had a not so little crush on, seems to be
creeping around on her sister, she has no choice but to get rid of him, too. In front of witnesses. Only to find out one second too late that she had it all wrong.

Victor, like many males, has issues expressing how he truly feels. When he finally decides it’s time to stop running from fate and claim his mate, he goes to her sister for advice. But, creeping
in and out of Jadine’s place like a thief in the night leads the very person he wants to win over to draw all the wrong conclusions. Which leads to him trading in his pale good looks for a white beard and a red velvet suit.

Now that the town knows Jacquelyn is the one behind all of the disappearances, and thinking she’s killed all of those that are missing, they’re out for her blood. And the only one who can
save her is, well, Santa. But will he be able to make it back to her before it’s too late?

Enjoy a brand-new tale of how Santa Claus came to be.

Editor’s Note: These delightfully naughty Christmas spanking stories feature scorching romance and BDSM. Some involve age play, all involve spanking. There’s also a bit of LGBT+, some magic, and a drunken incident with a photocopier. If this isn’t your scene, it might be better to find a nice book about knitting lamp shades, instead.

Individual Blurbs:

Maren Smith, The Doll-Maker

In an isolated cottage on the shores of a remote Scottish loch, Calder makes his living sculpting dolls for the tourist trade. They’re lovely, life-like, and they help to fill the void left by his broken heart. For seven long years, he’s been alone. But with the help of a little Fae magic, and a doll more “life-like” than usual, all of that is about to change…

Amelia Smarts, Abby’s Wish

Abby resorts to bratty behavior instead of being upfront with her Daddy Dom about what she wants, so Clay must discipline her. But when Abby finally works up the courage to explain her wish, will he be receptive?

Delia Grace, The Chalet

Could one weekend fulfill lifelong dreams possibly changing three lives forever? Come join Addi on a fantastical weekend in the Alps! This story contains innocent age-play and some “heart”-warming over the knee spanks.

Jaye Elise, The Kink of the Magi

In a naughty retelling of O. Henry’s holiday classic, a blue-collar Rust Belt couple, Kurt and Annie Cooper, discover the true meaning of the season. But when they find the perfect erotic gifts for one another—gifts far beyond their means—will they lose sight of the bond that brought them together in the first place?

Shelly Douglas, Christmas With a Little Twist
Sammie and Jessie Woods are twenty-eight-year-old twins from New York City who moved across the country to marry Trent and Pete Reynolds, the handsome, rugged owners of the XR Dude Ranch in Tucson, Arizona, and the couples can’t wait to spend the upcoming holidays together. But when a visitor makes an unexpected call to their ranch on Christmas Day, everyone’s outlook on life is changed forever.

Gracie Malling, All Work and No Play

It’s hard to focus at work when your boss also happens to be your Dom, and Mia is finding it increasingly difficult to balance her work life with her kink life. Christmas, however, is an excellent distraction, and Mia is determined that their first ever office Christmas party will be one to remember. And it will… just for all the wrong reasons!

Molly Alvarado, Her Christmas Daddy

Life just wasn’t the same for Jenny after losing her Dom. Any sense of holiday spirit she may have had fizzled away with his loss. When her local mall posts a job listing for an elf to assist Santa, it may be just what she needs. Will Jenny find her Daddy Dom during the most magical time of the year or is she doomed to hate Christmas forever?

Joelle Casteel, Santa Dom

When Michael organizes a fabulous festive five-way with their friends, he wants to make his and Jason’s anniversary extra special. But will Jason like Michael’s plan?

Brandy Golden, Marlie’s Christmas Keeper

Christmas only brings haunting sadness for Marlie Grayson until her new boarder moves in upstairs. Max Quenton is a very protective, dominant male determined to help Marlie heal her broken heart and restore the magic of Christmas with love.

Kelly Dawson, A Naughty Little Christmas

Bianca has hated Christmas ever since her beloved sister died. It holds too many memories, and each memory brings with it a new wave of pain. So when Clay agrees to be Santa if she will be the naughty elf, she agrees, happy for the distraction. But just how naughty can Santa’s elf be before she ends up over Santa’s knee?

Sheri Lynn, Rebecca the Red-Bottomed Reindeer

No one was supposed to find out Rebecca is stripping for extra Christmas cash, especially her older brother’s best friend she crushed on hard for years.  When Jake discovers her secret, he takes matters into his own hands, literally.  She receives a trip over his knees and an offer she won’t refuse.

Allysa Hart, Santa’s “Little” Helpers

Christmas at Rawhide Ranch is an exciting and elaborate affair with presents, celebrations and of course, Santa. Master Derek asks his best friend, Jared, to fulfill the role and he hesitantly agrees, but no one can predict how this one Christmas will impact the ranch for years to come.

Kathryn R. Blake, A Naughty New Year

Kelly Evans is nearly six months pregnant when her Dom husband, Jim, suggests they invite their closest friends over for a private New Year’s Eve party. Just a friendly get together, nothing kinky, and no champagne for either of the girls, since Kelly’s friend, Tiffany, was already a month along further than she. Given it’s New Year’s Eve, Kelly feels Jim’s no-champagne edict isn’t fair, but Jim warns her if she goes against his wishes, she will be punished. Though Kelly understands Jim’s reasoning, she still feels he’s being over-protective, and as much as she loves him, a sip of champagne never hurt anyone. That is until now.

Katie Douglas, His Christmas Baby

For Chloe, Christmas has always been a time of trauma and sorrow. When her Dom transforms her into his little girl for the 12 days before Christmas, beginning as a baby and getting a year older each day, can he help her overcome the ghost of Christmas past?

Excerpts/Bios/Social Media

Maren Smith, The Doll-Maker

Excerpt:
I like Christmas music.

“I like it too,” Calder said, alternately smoothing and shaving and smoothing again as he carved delicate collarbones beneath her slender neck and rounded her shoulders. He gave her breasts definition, something he hadn’t bothered to do on any of his previous dolls. Because they were dolls, and in his mind the only thing worse than the kind of pervert who’d pull his artwork off the mantel to check how anatomically correct it might be beneath its clothing, was the pervert who made it anatomically correct in the first place.

You’re going to sell me? An imagination was a terrible thing, especially when it made poor Ailsa’s voice in his head crack with worry.

“Never,” he assured her. “You’re for me and me alone.”

The icing on the crazy cake. He really was playing with dolls; his mom would be so… well, all right. She’d be horrified, but also Johnny-on-the-spot with an I-told-you-so.

Ailsa giggled. I don’t mind if you play with me.

To be thinking of playing at all while he was adding little button tips to the crown of each breast. He tsked. “Don’t distract me.”

Play with me, she both pouted and smiled.

“Don’t go tempting fire,” he warned with a smile. “You have no idea what my kind of play entails.”

It had been seven years, but he still had a few of his old toys packed away in the bedroom rafters. A lovely cherry-wood paddle, eighteen inches long and much too big and wieldy for Ailsa’s tender little bottom. An old oak hairbrush, pale with dirty bristles, but which could still pack a sting that would make her dance and howl across his knee.

Play with me, she sighed.

“Interrupt me work again,” he told her, injecting his low southern drawl with as much Scots as he could muster, “and I’ll be taken ye to the woodshed for a good and proper skelping. Me Grand-da’s strop still hangs out there. It’ll dance ye a merry jig, and one ye’ll naw be likin’. Ye ken me noo?”

She answered his threat with a giggling squeal, but her voice in his head fell silent. At least until he carved out her ribs. It tickles!

“I’ll give you a tickle,” he warned, but he was smiling as he did it. He smoothed and carved, shaped and defined, and smiled as she laughed helplessly while her torso lost its unrealistic Barbie doll shape and took on the form of a woman. A real woman, with a real waist that he had no desire to over exaggerate, and real hips that curved the way a woman’s hips were supposed to. He turned her over in his hand, careful of her arms while he went to work upon her back.

I like this, she whispered as he alternated between tools, shaping and smudging, shaving away the excess as he cut in shoulder blades. He gave her muscle definition and a spine that led from the base of her neck all the way down to the top of the buttocks he began to form. It’s like a massage.

He said nothing, but he couldn’t stop thinking of how it would feel to run his bare hand down the length of her bare back. Caressing her skin to skin, with nothing to stand as a barrier between them.

I like this, she moaned, the way a real woman would if ever he got one again beneath his hands. Her back to his chest, his hands rubbing her shoulders, caressing from hair to hips and back again, encouraging her with every pass to bend herself over. Head down, ass up.

Arch your hips, baby, he would tell her. He could already see Ailsa looking back at him over her shoulder, not so much an innocent now as she was seductive. He could see her shifting her legs wider to offer for his approval all the parts of her that he hadn’t yet sculpted. He gave her hips a little more rounding, to make of them a proper handful. Something to grip and hold as he positioned himself behind her. He gave her a nice ass too, something capable of taking a good pounding and the occasional erotic smack.

Her moans turned breathy, and the rise and fall of her perfect breasts quickened. Please…

He rolled out her lower limbs, making them slender legs, the kind he couldn’t wait to spread, to scrape his fingernails up to see if she would arch and writhe, and to hear the subtle shift in her gasps as he reached between them to cup and hold, and own the folds growing moist against his palm.

“Who owns this?” he’d demand of her, barely aware that he was saying it out loud now.

You do, Ailsa sighed.

Author Bio: Maren Smith

“For me, romance and kink have always gone hand in hand. I love strong, authoritative men—men who are both ready, willing and able to leave the lady of their choosing red–bottomed and weeping for her own good. Writing has given me the wonderful freedom to explore my kinky side without feeling ‘weird’. Even better, with the invention of the Internet, I can write what I love and know it will be appreciated by people with the same interests. Although I’ve been writing spanking romances for more than twenty years, it’s only been in the last five that I’ve truly broken out of my self-imposed shell to explore the other aspects of my submissive nature. Fortunate enough to live with my Dominant, I am an author, a Little and a submissive for the love of my life. Between that and my membership at my local Dungeons, there are very few things that I write about that I haven’t tried at least once.”

Amelia Smarts, Abby’s Wish

Excerpt

“You disobeyed me. What happens when you disobey?”

Abby twisted the fabric of her pink mid-thigh-length nightie in her hands. “Well, usually I get spanked.” She peeked up at him through her lashes. “But maybe this time Daddy will go easy on me since it’s Christmastime and because I’m really, really sorry.”

He scoffed. “You don’t look sorry. You look like a brat trying to get out of punishment.”

She giggled again. It was true, she wasn’t all that sorry. In fact, she was more turned on than anything else. Clay looked so hot, standing there all serious with a chiding expression on his face. She saw a smile pulling at the edges of his lips. It disappeared quickly, but it was reassuring nonetheless. He was nowhere near angry with her.

Abby circled her arms around his neck, jumped up, and wrapped her legs around his torso. He let out an oomph and caught her. His hands gripped her bottom cheeks hard, his fingers digging into her panty-clad cheeks.

“I love climbing on you, Daddy. You’re like a big, strong mountain.”

He gave her ass a smack. “I see what you’re doing. Don’t think being cute is going to get you out of a punishment.” He walked with purpose toward the stairs and climbed up to their room, with Abby clinging to him like a child being taken to bed.

“I wasn’t trying to be cute,” she protested. “It comes naturally.” She giggled.

He shook his head. “Not gonna work.” He leaned forward over the bed and peeled her off of him. She dropped on her back against the mattress and bounced once, only to be flipped over mid-bounce and planted on her stomach.

Clay sat on the bed next to her and lifted her nightgown. The cool air wafted over her bottom. The thin panties provided no coverage whatsoever from the nip in the air. They wouldn’t provide much coverage in a spanking either. Still, Clay didn’t allow panties during a bottom-warming, so it didn’t surprise her when he tugged them all the way down to her knees.

Delia Grace, The Chalet

Excerpt:

“Mrs. Flores cleared her throat regaining her dominant presence. “But, that’s not really the topic at hand right now, is it, little girl?”

I bit my lip. “I didn’t ask to be part of any of this conversation. I was just trying to figure out the best way to carry out your wishes and this was all thrust on me.”

“Oh really? Everything is strewn about the room and you were in bed cuddling Mr. Snow because you were trying to carry out our wishes for decorating and setting up?

I blushed unsure how to worm my way out.

“If you’d asked, even if Phoebe was still coming, we’d have been happy to let you give Mr. Snow a snuggle, but you didn’t ask. And, neglected your duties as chalet matron and then lied to cover it up, didn’t you?”

I was mortified to feel tears filling my eyes. “I… I… I’m so sorry, Mrs. Flores.”

“Do you know what I’d do with you if you were ours?”

My eyes widened. “Mmm-mmm. Umm, I mean no ma’am. I d-don’t know what you’d do. W-with me that is.”

She stared at me, her icy blue eyes piercing my soul. “How about I show you? Stand up.” She stood from the couch and held her hands out to help me up. I obeyed quickly. I didn’t want to disappoint her anymore than I already had.

She took a seat on the chair I’d been in and without a word pulled me over her lap, face down, bottom up. “

Jaye Elise, The Kink of the Magi

Excerpt:

“I think my girl deserves something extra special tonight,” he stroked her upturned ass, kneading her taut flesh as she squirmed across his lap and dug into his erection. “Something to remind her how much Daddy appreciates her. Something that lets her know how precious she is.”

Peeling her pink cotton panties down her plump thighs, Kurt reveled in the sight of her gorgeous ass laid bare just for him. It had only gotten more beautiful with time—creamy, round, and inviting—and he was convinced that 14 years of wedded bliss and nightly spankings were responsible for the stunning sight before him.

“Please, Daddy,” she whimpered, and he watched as his slow build-up and seductive promises took hold of her body and infused her barely visible sex with glistening wetness. “Please give me my spanking.”

“That’s my good girl,” he whispered one last time before bringing his hand down across the join of her ass and thighs. He hadn’t clipped her too hard, just firm enough to let her know they were starting, yet the gasp and subsequent moan he drew from her lips told him everything he needed to know. It was going to be a wonderful evening.

Author Bio: Originally from the Midwest, Jaye Elise currently lives in the Pacific Northwest with her wonderful husband. When told she should find a hobby to help pass the time during the long, gloomy winters, she went straight to her computer and started penning naughty romance novels. And she hasn’t looked back since. Jaye loves hearing from her readers and hopes you enjoy her books as much as she enjoys writing them.

Shelly Douglas, Christmas With a Little Twist

Excerpt:

“Are you not happy with the type of attention I’m providing?”

She rubbed her moist eyes with the back of her hand. “I probably just drank too much wine tonight.”

“I’m sure that’s a possibility, but just to make sure, I think you need a good hard spankin’ to remind you how to behave.”

Sliding off his lap, Sammie attempted a last-minute escape, but he turned her around and administered three hard smacks to her panty-covered behind. “By the end of the night, sweet girl, you will have more love and attention from your daddy than you ever thought possible.”

“This isn’t necessary. I’ve learned my lesson,” she said quietly. “I’m not trying to upset Jessie …”

“I know you’re not being nasty. You don’t have a mean bone in your body. I just think long overdue desires are taking over your mind. Now, get yourself over my knee, so we can do this and be done. It’s been a long day, and we’re both tired.”

She stalled at first, but finally and reluctantly bent herself over his lap. “Can’t we just go to sleep and talk about this in the morning?”

After hooking his thumbs under the lace waistband of her cotton panties, he slid them down her thighs and placed his large hand on her warm, bare bottom.

Craning her neck, she gave him her best puppy dog stare, but his grip on her waist to keep her in position was steadfast.

“And by the way, this is necessary right now, because I say it is. Now, tell me why I need to discipline you, young lady.”

“B-Because I acted out in front of Trent and Jessie?” she sputtered in a small cracked voice.

Instantly, Pete delivered a brisk slap to her rear end as he continued their conversation in a casual tone. “And …”

“I poured a third glass of wine tonight when you’ve told me about a million times that two is enough?”

Another sharp smack to her poor ass landed again. “Keep going …”

“Oh God! I’ve been warned about being disrespectful before, but I baited you anyway,” she whimpered as her eyes leaked tears of true remorse. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”

Though she apologized profusely, his flat, calloused palm showed no mercy as he smacked her poor reddened behind.

“The next time you disobey me, you’ll be feeling the lick of my belt on your bare bottom instead of my hand. Is that what you want, young lady? For Daddy to give you a good lickin’ with his belt?” Except for several warnings to stay in position, Pete’s firm hand disciplined every inch of Sammie’s backside, and then he made sure to swat the tender skin underneath each burning mound twice to teach her an important lesson.

“Please stop! I promise to be a good girl!”

His square jaw was clenched tight, and her face was drenched with tears as she slumped over his knee in exhaustion. But when he gently moved her off his lap, Pete looked down and grinned at a rather large wet stain on his khaki pants that happened to be puddled right next to the hard bar pulsing underneath the soft fabric.

His groan was audible as he studied his wife’s hungry eyes that seemed to be pleading for a happy ending. And he wanted nothing more than to fuck her senseless at that moment.

Jesus Christ.

Her submissive pose was delicious with panties draped around her knees as she clamped her thighs together in an obvious attempt to keep the copious moisture from sliding down her legs. But he knew that his point still needed to be made.

“In the corner,” he directed, pointing to the other side of the room trying to ignore the aching need pressing against his zipper.

Gracie Malling, All Work and No Play

Excerpt:

“Not so fast, little girl!”

I freeze, five stairs up, and then look back over my shoulder to see Will standing in the hallway glaring up at me.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, trying my best to look innocent.

“Back down here. Now.” He takes off his thick winter coat and hangs it up behind the door, never breaking eye contact.

My belly clenches up in that gorgeous way that is both scary and hot as hell, and I tighten my grip on the bannister rail. “Why?”

“Mia Elizabeth Clarke, you are already in enough trouble as it is.” He raises his voice ever so slightly. “Here. Now.”

“But… but I already had corner time.”

Will grabs hold of the bannister rail and starts up the stairs after me.

I squeak and take the rest of the stairs at a run before sprinting along the landing, throwing open our bedroom door and flinging myself inside. This is a ridiculous plan, however, and I realise this moments later when Will strolls in, calm as you like, shuts the door firmly behind him and then stands there, arms crossed, expression hard and mouth set in a disapproving line.

I retreat until the backs of my thighs hit the bed, and then I sit down on the edge of it with a defeated whimper. “I’m sorry…”

He raises an eyebrow and takes a deliberate step towards me. “Sorry for what, young lady? For being a brat at work, for running off just now or for both?”

I hug my arms, press my cheek into my shoulder and mumble something incoherent.

“What was that?” His voice has that sharp edge to it that tells me I am in big trouble, but for some reason lovely submissive Mia seems to have disappeared since our little post-meeting chat and my brat persona has well and truly taken over.

“I said I don’t know,” I grumble, staring down at the carpet and still hugging my arms with my face averted.

        “Stand up.”

I shake my head, squidging my cheek deeper into my shoulder, and stay put.

“Right.” In my peripheral vision, I see Will take two quick steps forwards and then he grabs hold of my hair and yanks me to my feet.

Before I have the chance to do anything more than shriek and wriggle, he sits down hard on the edge of the bed and drags me over his lap.

“You want to act like a brat, Mia?” he demands, his voice harsh, as he pulls up my sensible work skirt and hooks his fingers around the waistband of my knickers. “Well then, I’m going to treat you like a brat.”

Molly Alvarado, Her Christmas Daddy

Excerpt:

His knee tucked between her thighs rubbed slightly at her crotch and Jenny reflexively thrust against it, blindly following the sensations racing through her. She fisted her hand in his hair, licking at his lips before foraying back into his mouth. Her muted cry of pleasure was matched by the deep rumblings in his chest. It was the best kiss of all her life, so good she feared she would expire from the pleasure.

His hands fumbled at her breasts, and it wasn’t until he closed his thumb and forefinger around her naked nipple that she realized he had taken off her bra. Then she felt her breath catch as he rolled the nipple in his fingers, his tongue still in her mouth. He lifted his head and looked down at her, even as his hand worked at her nipple.

“Oh God,” she cried, seeing him. And yet not seeing him, pleasure clouding her senses because there was no way a sensible Jenny would ever think of calling Jason the most beautiful man in the word. “I want, I want…” she tried to say, then fell back to the couch as another wave of pleasure swamped her.

“Tell me, baby,” he implored, still toying with the hard buds of her nipples, his fingers scattering every single cognitive thought pattern she had. “Tell me what you want.”

Joelle Casteel, Santa Dom

Excerpt:

The overhead fan kept the air circulating even if it was still a little hotter in this room than the rest of their house. Jason had kicked the blankets off him, making a pile on the floor.

Kneeling on the blankets, Michael snatched his shirt off before leaning forward to suck Jason’s big toe into his mouth. He began to rub the foot as he lavished oral attention to each perfect toe. He lifted his gaze to Jason’s relaxed face to watch for signs of waking.

With a grunt and a moan, Jason yanked his foot from Michael. He rolled from his side onto his back. His fingers moved over the tubes as if to loosen the neck piece.

Michael brushed his fingers over Jason’s lower stomach, his fingers just settling into the extra flesh collected there. Love you forever, Sir. His attention pulled to Jason’s hard cock. He reached behind him to rub Jason’s legs as he leaned in to kiss the head, his tongue moving around the corona of his Sir’s perfect pleasure.

“Yes, boy,” Jason mumbled.

His tongue and mouth sliding down the shaft, Michael worshiped. His eyes slid closed when Jason grasped his head in both hands and took over. He hummed in appreciation at being of use, at giving Jason this sensation. His hands fell to the bed to prop up his chest.

“That’s my boy,” Jason growled.

Michael relaxed into a weightless state. He cupped his tongue against the shaft since Jason was moving him too fast for anything else.

Brandy Golden, Marlie’s Christmas Keeper

Excerpt

His eyes twinkled with sudden mischief. “I suppose you can always whisper in your elf’s ear to have Santa bring me another place to rent that’s out of your hair,” he teased.

Marlie hated her gut clenching reaction to his smile. She didn’t want to be affected, didn’t want to like the man, didn’t want him here at all. He was going to interrupt her peace of mind, she just knew it. “I wouldn’t ask that rat bastard for anything,” she spat through clenched teeth. “And especially not through some dumb nameless doll.” She slapped the elf over and it fell on its back, its arms and legs sprawled out, but the stupid grin remained intact.

The air instantly changed and Max’s smile vanished. His long arms folded together on the table as he leaned towards her, his demeanor threatening. “It sounds to me like you need to be on Santa’s naughty list with that kind of language. And a good old fashioned over the knee spanking for the consequences.”

His pronouncement caught Marlie completely off guard and the queer sensation that shot through her entire body left her stunned. For the moment she was speechless as she processed the feelings rushing through her and tried to coalesce them all into something simple.

“And I better never hear you talk like that in front of my daughter or disillusion her about Christmas. If you do, I’ll be Santa’s helper and put you over my knee.” He picked up the doll she had slapped down and sat him upright, his eyes hard and gleaming. “And I’m not a doll you can slap down.”

Author Bio; As for me, I love books of all genres, but nothing better than a good romance story. There is no limit to the imagination. The mind can travel anywhere and a well written book is the transportation to exciting places where anything you can dream can happen. Alpha, take charge, protective heroes are always my favorite men and I love writing about them. If the feisty heroine gets herself in trouble and gets a well-deserved spanking, that’s just the icing on the cake.

I have lived in the midwest most of my life but have ventured into at least half of the fifty states and found plenty of inspiration for my books. I love history and do a lot of research when planning a book so I can be as realistic as possible in my time periods and settings. I want my readers to have a great experience and feel like they are in the setting as they follow the storyline.

I have a great family which includes five wonderful children and a patient husband. I’ve been writing for several years now and I hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I love creating them for you.

Katie Douglas, His Christmas Baby

Excerpt:
“C’mon, little bunny, let’s go home and have some Christmas dinner.”

“Can’t we play out a little longer? Please?” Chloe begged.

“All right. But no more hide and seek.”

“That’s fine. TAG! You’re it!” She tapped his arm, shrieked with laughter, and tried to run away, but Bradley caught up with her easily.

“Tag,” he said, then swatted her bottom. She giggled and went after him. Every time she tagged him, he caught up with her and spanked her ass. It was the most fun she’d ever had playing tag. Tired out from all the running, she wasn’t surprised when he barreled into her and she landed face down on the soft ground.

He straddled her body, and swatted her bottom, hard. The sting went straight to her clit, awakening her body and making her nipples harden.

“Tag,” he murmured. “You’re it.”

She wiggled her bottom slightly, touching against his semi-hard cock, and replied, “Tag, you’re it.”

He landed another fiery spank on her ass and her clit throbbed as it tingled with desire.

“Tag,” he said in a dominant, primal growl. She giggled as her pussy clenched.

She flexed one of her arms and managed to touch his foot.

He swatted her ass again, making her moan with need as her core was flooded with glowing sensations and her clit beat in time with her pulse. She tried to raise one of her legs to tag him, but she couldn’t quite reach.

“Do you give up, little girl?” he asked sweetly. She nodded, rubbing her hair in the fallen leaves leftover from autumn. He swatted her bottom again then got off her. He scooped her up in his strong arms, repositioning her so she was cradled by him, and she rested her arms around his strong shoulders.

“I need to take you home and show you what happens to little girls who like to play tag with Daddy’s cock,” he whispered, and she shuddered in anticipation as he carried her the short distance to their home. Never had she felt so protected, so loved, and so turned on, all at the same time. She loved her daddy so much.

Kelly Dawson, A Naughty Little Christmas

Excerpt:

“My, my!” he exclaimed at a whisper, one eyebrow raised. “You are very wet, princess. What are we going to do with you, little girl?”
She bit her lip to stop herself from crying out as he slid one finger under the fabric covering her most intimate parts, and traced his finger upwards, to flick at her clit. She closed her eyes and fought against the moan building at the base of her throat. Damn. What was he doing to her? Here, in public?
His finger delved inside her, deeper, up to the knuckle, while the rest of his hand stayed on the outside of her underwear, pushing aside the fabric now drenched with her juices, and slowly turned his wrist. She was going to explode. She could feel it … lightning sparked within her, sending bolts of electricity to her core, his thumb against her clit now, teasing gently, his strong fingers tormenting her, driving her wild with desire.
She felt him grasp the gusset of her underwear in his fist and tug; the elastic tightened around her hips, digging into her.
“Lift your butt.” The order was whispered, but it was definitely an order. One she dared not disobey.
As discreetly as she could, she leaned backwards in the chair, lifting her hips up, her calf muscles screaming at her, being so tested after spending so long in high heels, and she felt Clay’s hand against her thigh as he tugged her knickers roughly down by the crotch. Her knickers at mid-thigh now, she lowered herself gently back into her chair, gasping at the sensation of the roughish dress material against her bare bottom. So scandalous! So naughty! Clay winked; she felt her face flush. She froze as he drew her knickers slowly down her legs, his eyes never once leaving hers.
“Lift your left foot.” Again, that whispered command, but a command so full of authority that she dared not disobey.
Still holding her gaze, fire burning brightly in his eyes, Clay leaned down low across the table, his fingers tugging the fabric of her underwear down her legs, over her ankle, then slipped it off over her raised foot. It caught on the heel of her shoe; a brief frown flitted across his face before she felt his fumbling fingers unhook the garment and clench it tightly in his fist again.

Author Bio: Kelly Dawson loves anything to do with horses, rodeos and cowboys, and loves to get lost in a good book – preferably one containing spanking!

A life-long closet-spanko, Kelly started writing spanking stories on every spare scrap of paper in the house as a child. So when she discovered the internet and spanking romance along with it, she was most excited. But it took her a good decade of devouring these stories before she got up the courage to submit her own. And now, here she is, 8 books later, with a plethora of ideas still to write!

She lives literally at the bottom of the world in the South Island of New Zealand, with her husband, four kids, a dog and a cat.

Sheri Lynn, Rebecca the Red-Bottomed Reindeer

Excerpt:

Losing her balance, her knee slammed into the stage and her torso followed.  Planting her palms in front of her, she lifted her shoulders and breasts realizing she landed right smack in front of a customer.  The lights played havoc with her vision.  Not that it surprised her to have a man ogling her breasts, but she felt the intensity in his stare.  Raising her eyes, she glimpsed a furor in his eyes before he became enveloped in darkness again.  Looking down she noticed her necklace she never took off rotated from behind her neck and under her hair.  Her brother gave it to her and this man focused on it.

She figured it cost a fair amount, Australian Opals, a unique, lovely piece, but not something anyone might take note of the way this man fixated on it.  It meant more to her because it came from her brother.  He bought it years before he met his wife, April.  Back when he and his hot best friend, Jake took impromptu road trips.  This he picked up in Santa Fe.  Before she had time to react to her revelation, fingers clamped down over her upper arms.  He dragged her off the stage.  Kicking her legs, her feet, she searched for anything to halt this onslaught.  He had a tight grip on her which gave him the ability to keep her upper body from crashing with the table he vacated.  Her lower half didn’t fare as well.  Her left knee plopped on the table causing the table to rock and flip to its side.  This rotated her body smashing her to the floor on her right thigh.

It didn’t end there.  Their eyes met for a second.  Long enough for her to understand this wasn’t over.  Bending toward her, his left arm encircled her waist hauling her up from the dirty concrete floor.  Her feet dangled in front of him, her doe-tailed butt in the air.  Even with the music blaring, it didn’t mute the crack of the first thwack against her bare flesh.  She yelped unable to fathom he spanked her, a hard spanking, and in public.  He got a few more strikes in before the bouncers arrived.

Finding herself on her hands and knees, she looked up in time to see him receive a punch in the jaw.  “No!  Don’t hurt him!” she screamed as they forced him out of the building.  By the time she found the ability to stand, she ran out to find him, but didn’t see him anywhere.  Her knees shook and she found it difficult to breathe.  Leaning forward she rested her hands on her upper thighs.  Jake.  When was the last time she saw him before him tonight?  When she was in high school and he came over to the house for Thanksgiving?  Would he tell her brother that he saw her here?  She never expected anyone to find out.  With Jose’s Jewels being an hour and half from her hometown, she thought she could keep it a secret.

Author Bio: I grew up an Army brat, so my childhood involved moving every three years. However, truly a southern gal, I currently reside in Alabama with my husband, two Chihuahuas, two Golden Retrievers, a mean cat, turtle, and a teenage daughter. I have two sons, who live on their own, and a stepson and stepdaughter.

Romance novels have always been my first reading choice. I’m a hopeless romantic, and that trait materializes in every aspect of my life. “Wearing your heart on your sleeve” has been a common phrase repeatedly heard throughout my life. Writing romance and happily ever afters comes naturally.

Whether a result of my childhood, or not, I love to travel. Warm weather and beautiful beaches are always my choice destination.

Allysa Hart, Santa’s “Little” Helpers

Excerpt:

All the lines of the deposition before me bled together as I stared at my notes. It was the same thing every day with a new client and a new case. The mundane pattern made work difficult, and I had long lost the fire and passion I used to feel for my cases. My clients did not deserve a half hearted attorney, something had to give.

I decided to pack up for the day just as the phone at my desk rang. I looked skeptically at the caller id, wondering if I should let it go to voicemail, but when I saw Derek’s number I couldn’t help but grin. The man had impeccable timing.

“Stark,” I answered out of habit. The sultry voice on the other side of the phone shook.

“H-Hello Mr. Stark. This is Erika Lane. I’m calling on behalf of Master Derek. Would you mind if I put you on hold while I transfer you?”

“Hello, Erika. How are you, little squirrel?”

“Me?” her voice squeaked.

“Yes, you. Is there someone else on the line I don’t know about?” I grinned. The little submissive fascinated me in a way no woman had in a long time. I loved to catch her off guard and listen to her stumble over her words or watch her squirm in her seat.

“N-no, Sir, I’m doing well, thank you for asking. I, um, Master Derek would like to speak to you. May I transfer you?”

“Trying to get rid of me so quickly?” I leaned back in my desk chair and crossed my legs, getting comfortable for the best conversation I’d had all day, all week for that matter. She was adorable, and she flipped all my dominant switches.

“N-no, Sir. Of course not. I-I’m just doing my job.”

Her voice shook with nerves, and I could bet my paycheck she was wiggling on a sore bottom as she practically begged to pass me off to Derek. I could listen to her voice all day, but I didn’t want to stress her out. “Okay little squirrel, go ahead and transfer me.”

Her audible sigh made me laugh out loud. “Thank you, please hold.”

Author Bio: I am a full-time mom to a sassy, strong-willed, loveable little girl. Okay, so she is all me. I am on the wrong side of 30, and I have been married to my best friend for over eight years. Like most couples, we have our ups and downs, but I could not imagine doing life with anyone else by my side. We are Southern California transplants, currently residing in a very rural part of the east coast. I have two crazy dogs that I adore, even though they drive me out of my ever-loving mind, most days.

I have recently rediscovered my love of words and decided to become a writer. My first story is my heart and soul, and it reaches into the depths of all that is me. I also create covers, promos, and logos for authors. I have met some amazing friends on this journey that I now happily call family. Without my family members, whether biological or chosen, I would not be half the person I am today. Their constant love and support keep me afloat.

Kathryn R. Blake, A Naughty New Year

Excerpt:

Kelly stood at the kitchen counter staring at the champagne bottle with indecision. What she’d contrived as a harmless indulgence a few minutes ago seemed like a much more severe offense now. Especially since Jim had added trust into the mix. Though he hadn’t come out and said it directly, he implied if she poured anything other than Ginger Ale into their glasses, she’d be violating his confidence. So, now what?

She still thought his edict of no champagne was overly strict, but the notion of deliberately damaging his belief in her didn’t sit well, either. She wasn’t naïve enough to think he hadn’t chosen his words on purpose, or that he didn’t suspect what she intended to do. The question was whether she’d really be betraying him if she followed through with her plan.

Why do things need to be so difficult? She walked over to the doorway. “Jim, could you come in here for a moment, please?”

He strode over and reached out to put his arms loosely about her hips. “Feelin’ guilty?” he inquired with an arched eyebrow.

She nodded, fighting a stupid urge to cry. “You did that deliberately, didn’t you?”

        “What do you think?”

At least he didn’t try to play innocent. “I think you aren’t playing fair. It’s New Year’s,” she protested.

“Yeah. I know. And I also know you’d like to party a bit more than I want you to. The decision is yours, Kelly, just as it has always been.”

Author Bio: Although Kathryn is relatively new to the spanking romance market, she is not new to stories where the hero spanks the heroine.  In fact, most of her novels have some sort of spanking in them.  However, even in Kathryn’s novels where the hero firmly believes in using spanking as a deterrent, he has no desire to cause the heroine injury and takes no delight in hurting the woman of his heart.  In fact, sometimes he finds it extremely difficult to follow through on his threats or promises.

To date, all of her heroes are dominant, alpha males who are extremely protective of the women they love.  However, part of that protectiveness includes the need for a certain amount of control.  They do not suffer defiance or disobedience lightly. Even so, these men aren’t infallible, and they do make mistakes, but love and respect will always triumph in the end.
