Review:
For any fantasy reader, romance reader, soul mate believer, or epic story reader this book has it all. From beginning to end I’ve was enraptured by this world, pulled in by the characters and transfixed by what happened to them. It’s a tale for the ages.
Evren, oh Evren…what a mate Evren turned out to be. My heart beat so fast for how much love he felt for Adara and the anguish he felt when she wasn’t by his side. That does not diminish what Adara felt for Evren by any means. These two were twined together in an unbreakable bond, even though the crown prince tries his hardest to do so. I found myself continually tearing up at how much love these two had for one another as it poured off the pages and filled any darkness that was consuming them at that moment.
It’s a beautiful love story mixed around an epic royal battle between kingdoms and I loved the entire story from start to finish. Their epic journey never failed to entertain, tear me up, nor lose my interest as the pages rolled by and even as I’m sad that the trilogy has come to an end I’m equally as happy that Evren and Adara have found their HEA.

Review:
So much heat and tension…you could cut it with a knife. Everything was heighted in this book; the passion, the chemistry, the feelings, the suspense, the emotions, just everything!
Adara is upset with Evren, and upset doesn’t even begin to cover the emotional upheaval she is feeling over the betrayal he set in motion to get Adara away from his brother. They may be bonded mates, but she refuses to accept that idea when she can’t trust him or any word that falls from his beautiful lips.
While Evren had his reasons and he doesn’t regret them, it doesn’t make Adara feel any better that he stooped to them to begin with and that betrayal severed what gains they were making in their relationship making her lose all trust in him. Adara is an emotional mess over the betrayal and their bond doesn’t make it easier because she desires him and while he says he wants her, is it really her, or the bond, or the power he gains?
This book was unputdownable!! I completely empathized with Adara over the trust issues, but I also felt those deep emotions that swarmed around them because like I said, they jumped off the page and I was swimming in them right along with Adara and Evren.
I loved all the tension and magic mixed with paranormal realm. It’s an epic story that I can’t get enough of. I can’t wait for the next part of the story because the ending…I just need to know!!

Review: The Kingdom of Stars and Shadows is the reason why I love Fantasy Romance. I can’t stop thinking about it, I already want to reread it, it is just that good!!
I love a good fantasy book, but even better I love a great twist on an old myth. Holly Renee has done both and she has done it extremely well. The Kingdom of Stars and Shadows has heat, plot, action and a cliffy that left me craving the next book right now.
Adara, known as Starblessed due to her markings, is betrothed to the crown prince of Citlali. While most people in her position, those with this honor would jump at her chance, Adara has always despised the knowledge that her life would never her own. I loved her spirit and her fierce determination and she never once wavered in her core morals. She is a wonderfully written heroine that is both feminine and strong. She fit very well within this storyline.
While Adara is betrothed to the crown prince, Gavril, Adara finds herself drawn to another during her time at the palace. A dark prince who stirs her desires and draws all of her attention. As much as she wishes, Evren can not be her savior, he is loyal to the crown and not a full blood prince, but she is torn in two between what her heart wants and saving a kingdom.
There were so many aspects of this fantasy world that completely blew my mind, but had the desired effect of drawing me farther in to the overall fantasy of the story. I needed ALL the details of every how, why, or what which I gobbled right up.
Once I picked up this book I did not set it down once. I was hooked and completely pulled into this amazing world that Holly created. I can hardly wait to return to find out what’s in store after the ending, but until then, I know a reread will be in my future because I need to revisit these characters again.

The second half of this duet is super angsty and just about broke me!
While reading my husband kept sending me looks. I know it is his way of checking in on me to make sure I was okay…spoiler alert…I was not okay.
I was anxious about this book when I just read the blurb. This is Olly and Frankie and I’d been rooting for them for multiple books so I wasn’t sure I would be strong enough to make it through all the angst that Holly tossed out in the book synopsis. Again, let’s go back to that spoiler alert and I’ll add a few tears this time. 😥
There is heartache and tears and lots of devastating angst. However, with everything on an emotional scale, what goes down always comes back up and Frankie and Olly’s story is all worth the ride.
This is a book duet and cannot be read as a standalone. It picks up right after the first book and needs to be read in order for the best enjoyment. This is also book six in the series, so cameos from everyone in Clermont makes an appearance at some point or another, and while each duet can be read on their own, the series makes the most sense when you read them in order.

I clenched my hand at my side to avoid reaching out and touching her.
She was also too young for me and she was my best friend’s little sister, but neither of those things seemed to matter when I was looking at her.
I was always looking at her, but she was looking at him.
Lucas grinned at her from across the table, and a soft blush bloomed across her cheeks. He was one of my best friends too, but I wanted to kill him when he looked at her like that. My stomach hardened as I watched them. I knew I didn’t have the right. She wasn’t mine, but for some reason, she felt like it.
She had felt like it for far longer than I liked to admit.
“What are you up to today, Frankie?”
She pulled her attention away from Lucas long enough to look over at me. “Not a whole lot. I thought I might go for a swim before the party tonight. You’re going, right?”
“Yeah.” I nodded. “I’ll be there.”
“Good.” She smiled at me as she leaned against her hand. “What about you, Lucas? Are you going to be there?”
I clenched my teeth as I waited for his response. He always treated Frankie as if she wasn’t important. He treated her like she wasn’t the most important person in the room even though she looked at him like he was the most crucial thing in her life.
“Of course.” He rubbed his hands together as he talked, but he was barely looking at her. “I need to get fucked up or laid tonight.”
Frankie’s shoulder slumped the smallest bit, and she looked away before either of us could see her face.
A face I knew she was attempting to school to hide her hurt.
“Real classy, Lucas.” I rolled my eyes because even though I had been friends with Lucas for what felt like forever, I still didn’t see what Frankie saw in him. I was beginning to wonder why I was friends with him at all. “Come on, Frankie. Let’s go hit the beach before the party.”
“Okay.” She nodded and stood from her seat. “Let me grab my suit.”
As soon as she left the kitchen, Lucas leaned back in his chair and chuckled.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” I glared at him.
“What’s wrong with you?” He laughed harder. “You look like a lovesick puppy over Beck’s little sister when you can get any pussy you want in the entire school. Don’t let a piece of ass make you look so pathetic.”
“Don’t fucking talk about her like that.” My pulse was racing as I clenched my fists at my sides. “You have no idea…”
“What are you assholes talking about?” Beck interrupted us as he walked into the kitchen and grabbed an apple off the island.
“Trying to get Olly laid.” Lucas smirked, and my fingers tingled with the urge to knock it off his face.
“It’s about damn time.” Beck wrapped an arm over my shoulder and laughed. “You’ve been a little tense.”
“Fuck you both.” I shrugged Beck off me just as Frankie came back around the corner. She was wearing a simple black bikini, but I couldn’t look away.
“Hey, you ready?” She held a towel against her stomach, and I watched as her eyes flashed over to Lucas before looking back at me.
“Yeah. Let’s go.” I opened the back door and waited for her to walk through. This was Frankie’s house, but I felt like I knew it as well as my own. I practically lived here most days. Frankie walked in front of me, and I stared at the soft slope of her back as she pushed through the back gate and out onto the sand.

A few people snickered, but I didn’t look away from her. She didn’t pull her gaze away from me either as she answered, but I knew her answer was a lie the moment it left her mouth.

“Carson, truth or dare?”

“My problem?” I rubbed at my jaw. “Currently my problem is you. You haven’t barely spoken to me in days, you’ve been avoiding me like the plague at community service, and now…”
“Now what?” She was angry.
“Now I have to sit here and watch you with him.” I pointed at Eli, and he had the nerve to fucking smirk at me.
“I haven’t spoken to you because the last time we spoke, you made it very clear where we stood. I’ve been avoiding you because I don’t want to deal with you, and you’re going to have to continue to watch me with him because I like him. And it’s the oddest thing, but he likes me too.”
“Truth or dare?”
“I’m done playing this stupid game.” She pushed out of her seat, and I knew that Eli was about to follow her.
“Truth or dare, Allie? It’s not that hard.”
She spun back around to face me, and I could see the anger in her eyes. “Fine. Dare.” She held out her arms because she thought by ending the truths, she was going to end this argument between us.
“I dare you to kiss me.”
“That’s not happening.” Eli had the balls to say that out loud to me, and it took everything inside me not to close the space between us and finish what we had started last weekend.

Redemption, heartbreak, and big angsty emotional turmoil with lots of tears…Holly Renee pulled out all the stops on the way to second chance love for the second half of this duet.
Carson and Allie have danced around each other for years….YEARS!! Of course their love story was going to be big with all the feels and lots of bumps. They were not going to escape each other without bruises, but dang…grab the tissues before getting comfy. Their story is hard won.
Yes, Carson had a lot of groveling to do after Eli let the cat out of the bag on the virgin bet right at the end of book one, but honestly, their hurt runs so much deeper than any bet. Allie deciding to sleep with Carson was because she finally felt comfortable with him again, she was hurt only because she figured Carson was playing her all along. Carson had been mistreating her for years and was she wasn’t sure if she was being duped or not. Sleeping with him was just the top of her bad decision making when it came to him and she was more angry at herself for falling into his traps.
Trust is a delicate thing and just at the moment Carson had been earning it back, Eli broke it for him. Carson finds himself at a loss. He never meant to hurt Allie and he could have cared less about the bet, but how does he get her trust back when he’d barely had it to begin with? He works hard at trying to earn it back, but Allie isn’t easily swayed by his pretty words this time around.
These two have so much to work on in regards to past hurts, present hurts and how not to hurt each other in the future. Sealing up those cracks so they stop causing damage and yet also focusing on just being happy is a lot harder than it looks.
This story is all encompassing with the emotions, plus full of tons of steam!! Carson and Allie are actually an amazing couple, now there is one couple left in the Clermont bunch…will they or won’t they? I’m excited to see how the last ones standing play out.

Kimberly, Allie. I think you all might know each other.” I looked across the table at Kimberly, and of course I knew her. We had gone to school together since grade school, and I had hated her almost as long. She was popular, conceited, and a perfect fit for Carson. “Of course.” I nodded and pulled out my menu. “How are you, Kim?” “I’m perfect.” She giggled and looked over at Carson. His hand disappeared under the table, and even though I couldn’t see it, I knew that his hand probably rested on her thigh. I wanted to rip it off. “Awesome,” I mumbled and tried to focus on the menu. Carson laughed under his breath, but I ignored him. “What are you getting?” I looked to my right where Eli sat. “Do you want to share some wings?” “Oh.” He looked up from his menu. “I was thinking about getting the burger.” “A burger at a wing place.” Carson scoffed and tossed his menu down on the table. “I’ll share an order with you, Allie. Kim’s getting a salad.” He didn’t give me time to answer. As soon as the waitress came to our table, Carson opened his mouth. “My girl Allie and I are going to share a large order of wings, extra ranch for both of us. No carrots. She hates those.” I looked at him like he had lost his mind because I was pretty sure that he had. “What can I get you to drink?” The waitress was now looking at me. “Um, just a Coke, please.” Everyone else ordered their food, and I fidgeted with my hands under the table. “So, Allie, how is school going for you?” I looked up at Eli. I had almost forgotten he was there. “It’s all right. I’m so ready for fall break, though.” “Me too.” He nodded. “Are you going anywhere? My family is taking a trip to Europe.” “No.” I almost choked on the word. Sometimes I forgot just how far apart my family was from those who went to Prep. They were made of money, old money to be exact, and guys like Eli had never had to think about working or how he’d pay for college. “We typically stay home and do a Thanksgiving meal at our house. It’s real low-key.” And my dad would still be working every day except for Thanksgiving, and my small house would be busting with people. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins. We were always together on holidays, and I loved it. It may not have been Europe, but it was ours. “That’s cool.” He nodded and turned his chair to where he faced me better. “We’ve been going to Europe for years now. My parents love it, and they take us about every other year. Have you ever been?” “To Europe?” I shook my head, and suddenly I felt ridiculous. “No. The farthest I’ve been is Disney World.” I didn’t mention that had been almost ten years ago. I could hear Carson and Kimberly talking across from us, and I hoped he was too enthralled with her and her perfect face to even consider listening to our conversation. Eli laughed like I had just told a joke, but I hadn’t. “That’s too bad. I bet you would really like Europe.” “What makes you think that, Eli?” Carson was leaned back in his chair with his arm resting on the back of Kimberly’s. Eli laughed nervously and looked between me and Carson. “It’s Europe.” He shrugged his shoulders. “But you don’t know anything about Allie specifically that would make her love Europe, correct?” Eli opened his mouth, but Carson continued. “Like you have no clue that she’s been dreaming of going to Paris forever, and she has this little Eiffel Tower key chain that she’s had on her set of keys since she’s had them. Or that she thinks she’s part Irish because she has a little bit of green in her eyes.” “I didn’t realize you knew so much about her.” Eli was no longer aloof. He was sizing Carson up, and I wasn’t here for a pissing contest. “Well, now you do.” Carson stared back at him with the same unrelenting gaze, and I felt like I was going insane. He scrunched his brow, something he always did when he was upset, and his jaw stiffened. I didn’t know if he was angry with me or with himself. But I didn’t want to find out. I quickly grabbed a wing from our plate and took a huge bite. Sauce dripped down my chin, but I didn’t stop. The food was a distraction. If we were eating, then we weren’t talking, and I couldn’t stand to hear anything more from Carson right now. Not after everything he just said. Not with the way he had brought up memories of me like it wouldn’t mess with my head. “This is good.” I wiped at my mouth with the back of my hand. “Do you want a bite?” I looked over to Eli, and he shook his head as he looked at my half-bitten wing. “Nah. I’m good.” “Suit yourself.” I shrugged as I looked down at his measly-looking burger. “I’ll take one.” Carson reached forward, his fingers wrapping around my wrist, and he stood in his seat enough to bring my hand to his lips. I stared at him, shocked by what he was doing, but there wasn’t an ounce of shame in his gaze. He didn’t look away from me for a second as he bit down into the wing I was still holding, and I couldn’t stop myself from holding my breath as his lips met my fingers. Carson Hale wasn’t just taking a bite of my chicken. He was causing a scene, and part of me wondered how he had gotten so damn good at it. He ran his tongue over the edge of my thumb, licking up the sauce that had dripped there, and I felt like he had just used his tongue on parts of my body that no one else ever had. I pressed my thighs together as I watched his mouth, and I couldn’t bring myself to care that Eli was watching me as Carson finally let go of my hand and settled back into his seat. “You’re right, Allie. Review:
All consuming, burning love, this duet has the best couple to fall in love with and even better, let totally consume you.
I love a book where the nefarious bad boy has completely and utterly messed up and now he has to grovel, beg, and plead to win back his lady love. Basically we get to see that methoprically soft underbelly (since we all know the hot, bad boy is totally ripped and would never be…well, soft) that he only shows to one person. We get to see those cracks and weaknesses that make the god-like man human and somehow it always makes the already hot guy, hotter. Beck is totally and completely in this category.
Beck Clermont is the heir to the Clermont kingdom (not a real kingdom, but an heir to his father’s mass fortune none-the-less) and Beck has always gotten everything he wanted. However, when he damaged his relationship with Josie Vos while seeking revenge against her stepbrother, let’s just say that he is now at a complete loss of what to do next. While he may be a similar kind of monster to Josie’s stepbrother, he still isn’t on the same level as him, but he also realizes that it doesn’t excuse him of his sins against Josie, nor does it give him any idea of where to begin on winning her back.
Josie Vos never hated her last name more. She knew it was the cause of Beck’s revenge, which in turn is the cause of her current anger, leading to the reason she is living in Clermont Bay and living with her monster of a father. Everything leads back to her last name and she doesn’t know how to escape it. Loaded down with anger and remorse for even liking Beck she doesn’t lay around and mope about it, she isn’t anybody’s punching bag or sad sack story. Josie wants to watch Beck and all of his minion’s fall. Watch out Clermont Bay…Josie may not like her last name, but she’s a Vos when it comes to standing up for herself.
Josie is fierce in this second installment. She doesn’t let anyone walk all over her, which I love about this second chance – redemption story. If you are going to be with a bad boy you need a backbone and Josie’s is made of steel.
All of the secondary characters are phenomenal and perfectly placed in the timeline. I can see so many additions to this world and I’m looking forward to where Holly will take each character on their own ride.
Beck and Josie were completely addicting to read from the very first page and while I’m sad to see their story ending, I have a feeling they will still pop up as their friends find their own paths to a HEA ,so I’m not saying goodbye to them yet.
