Excerpt:

“Show me respect, the way you feel it.” Ros leaned forward in her chair, increasing the power of the lock between their eyes. “The way YOU feel it,” she repeated.

For a nice, long simmering pause in the universe, Lawrence’s gaze didn’t leave hers. Slowly, he backed the chair enough to give him room. He didn’t look around to see who was watching him—first test passed.

Then he went to one knee in front of her.

He put his hand under the purple sole of her shoe, the other curving over her calf. The heated palm slid against her skin as a gradual glide, a man not rushing anything, taking in the sensation.

He eased her leg upward, straightening it from its crossed position. Dipping his head, he pressed his mouth to her flesh, a few inches above the silver leaf design molded around her ankle.

A kiss, a tasting.

Cherishing, worshipping.

Then he added a touch of teeth.

Claiming.

Electric current passed from that contact to the hairline at her nape, and all the right places in between. She laid her hand on his bowed head, fingers and knuckles capturing and stroking the short thickness of his hair. She let herself trace it around his ear, to the pulse point just beneath it. A steady thud, like war drums, focused, intent. Powerful.

There was a subtle vibration to his muscles, a faint trembling. The nerves of a sub who’d made his first step. She thought of that tremor as the collision between the mind’s “what-the-hell” and the heart and soul’s whoop of “you-go-boy.”

He lifted his gaze to hers, his mouth still on her. She saw fire, darkness, desire. It made her lips move against one another, a moistening that had his fingers tightening as he saw it.

What was it she’d been told about him? *SEALs are trained to notice everything, and evaluate and adapt accordingly.*

The energy pulsing between them was more than enough for her to channel, twist and play with it, turn it into something even more marvelous. She looked forward to it.

About Joey W. Hill

Joey W. Hill writes about vampires, mermaids, boardroom executives, cops, witches, angels, simple housemaids . . . pretty much wherever inspiration takes her. She’s penned over forty acclaimed titles and six award-winning series, and been awarded the RT Book Reviews Career Achievement Award for Erotica. But she’s especially proud and humbled to have won the support and enthusiasm of a wonderful, widely diverse readership.

So why erotic romance? “Writing great erotic romance is all about exploring the true face of who we are – the best and worst – which typically comes out in the most vulnerable moments of sexual intimacy.” She has earned a reputation for writing BDSM romance that not only wins her fans of that genre, but readers who would “never” read BDSM romance. She believes that’s because strong, compelling characters are the most important part of her books.

“Whatever genre you’re writing, if the characters are captivating and sympathetic, the readers are going to want to see what happens to them. That was the defining element of the romances I loved most and which shaped my own writing. Bringing characters together who have numerous emotional obstacles standing in their way, watching them reach a soul-deep understanding of one another through the expression of their darkest sexual needs, and then growing from that understanding into love – that’s the kind of story I love to write.”

Take the plunge with her, and don’t hesitate to let her know what you think of her work, good or bad. She thrives on feedback!

At Her Command; Mistresses of the Board Room #1
(A standalone within a series)

by: Joey W. Hill

Review Rating:

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

I’ve read BDSM and D/s books before, but honestly never one where the sub has been male. Let me clarify further in stating that most of the books I’ve read prior have either led toward the male being a switch or still a Dom with perhaps just some servitude like tendencies. So, never one where the male sub has purely been just a sub to a Domme. This was a unicorn find, at least for me.

You see in this world, perhaps just like a rainbow, it isn’t just black and white. There is an array of how people find their pleasure and pain (and most times those two are intermixed), but I enjoyed reading about this rare man who was a sub, in complete service to his Mistress even when not in play, and yet was also a SEAL, a man with full alpha tendencies committed to service and protect by nature, but one not typically at the ready to kneel. At least that he was aware of until he met Rosalinda.

Lawrence had never been in the BDSM world before leaving the military, but now that he’s left his life feels empty and he’s looking for a purpose. He has friends that have played in this world and perhaps see something in him that even he hasn’t recognized in himself, but upon their recommendation he becomes security detail for Rosalinda Thomas, a business woman and Domme.

Rosalinda has had her life threatened and although she doesn’t believe she needs extra protection her friends bed to differ. Upon meeting Lawrence she is impressed with his security measures, but even more so with his subservient vibes. He has never been immersed in the lifestyle and she is itching to teach him everything she knows. Lawrence is someone she gets to personally unlock and truly find out his potential, it makes having someone around to guard her less unappealing.

While Lawrence works at neutralizing the threat surrounding Rosalinda he also struggles with natural submissive tendencies that she brings out in him. He feels the need to protect her, but also to submit. It messes with his mental state the longer he’s around her. How can he be the best choice when he’s pulled in two different directions?

Ros knows in polite society a man is supposed to be the alpha dog and as much as she disagrees with that view she also sees Lawrence struggling with his place in the world. As much as she wants to guide him along his journey, he also has to be willing to take the steps to meet her along the way. A D/s relationship is only as good as the trust they build upon it.

This is the first in the Mistresses series and you are introduced to the Domme’s that will have their own books in the future as well touching base with past Dom’s from Hill’s other series.

Synopsis:

Excerpt

She turned toward the door, a light smile pasted on her face. He wore a gold-colored T-shirt and blue jeans. Though the shirt was untucked, she had no doubt he was wearing a belt. He’d pretty much branded that fashion accessory in her brain for the rest of her life. His shaved head gleamed in the soft light, adding shadows to the chiseled features and sparks to the silver gaze.

It slid over her, head to toe. “I need to know your boundaries,” he said, before she could say anything. “Are you a sub in here?”

With you, I’m always a sub. She didn’t say it, but she suspected it was obvious on her face, from the flicker in his eyes, the flex in his jaw. But she found her words.

“Yes, if that’s what you want. If you don’t, I’m just a massage therapist, helping you with problem areas. You can treat me the same way you’d treat a normal masseuse. Or you can treat me as both at once. It’s up to you.”

“Both sound good.” He stepped over the threshold. In the cozy little space, he seemed even bigger. She normally maintained a respectful distance from him, which gave her room to gauge what he was wanting. In these close quarters, she had to tip her face up to look at him.

She didn’t often look up into a Dom’s face until given permission, but in this situation, she felt like he wanted her to do it. He wanted her to feel that difference in size and strength, how much bigger he was than her.

She wet her lips. “Is what I’m wearing acceptable, sir?”

“For the moment. I’d like you to lose the shorts, though. Wear just the shirt and panties. No bra.” He glanced at himself. “How about me? What do you need me to wear to do this right?”

Despite a BDSM club being less modest than other venues, she usually gave clients a little speech to put them at ease about their weight or any other perceived physical flaws. It went something like, “There’s no need for any self-consciousness. During a massage, I don’t see the body; I see muscles.”

There was no way she could say that to Wolf with a straight face, so she redacted that line in her head before it made it anywhere close to her lips. “You’ve never had a massage?”

“No.”

That knowledge helped her click back into her role, pull together some of the focus that his presence had scattered so effectively. “Well, it’s up to you. Most guests prefer to be completely unclothed so there’s no impediment to the massage, but if you prefer to leave on underwear, I can work with that, no problem. I do put a heated sheet over you as a cover, and I only fold it back from the area I’m working on.”

“I tend to run hot. Is having the cover a requirement?”

“Not really. You’ll be lying on a heated pad, which helps the muscle relaxation, but I can take the heated blanket off the top entirely after a couple minutes, if you prefer that.”

“Okay, then.” He pulled off his T-shirt, the stretch of his muscled upper torso capturing her gaze and not letting it go. The arch of his body was exaggerated because, in the small space, he had to straighten his arms more than normally would be necessary, to keep from rapping her with his elbows. Her palms itched to press against the ripple of chest and abdomen muscles, the sides of his waist. All well within reach.

Just as she’d known, he was wearing a belt. When he started to unbuckle the plain silver buckle, she turned to busy herself elsewhere.

“Look at me, Ella. You have my permission.”

Treat it like a session, she thought. A session that any Dom could request from her, that she could approve or not. Though the wisdom of not engaging with him was starting to become painfully clear, she knew she wouldn’t refuse him. No matter the plea echoing in her mind, her heart.

Don’t let me get pulled so deeply into him. Don’t let me get trapped in that lonely sea of finding everything I want there, but nothing that wants me back.

Review – Vampire Master by Joey W. Hill

48217305. sy475

Vampire Master; Vampire Queen, Club Atlantis #16 (Series)
by Joey W. Hill (Author)

This review is from: December 6, 2019 By Kay Daniels
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

A sensual masterpiece that brings you back into the heart of Club Atlantis. Vampire Master has a little splash of something for every reader; the D/s club atmosphere, returning character fan favorites (or maybe they are just mine), high stakes romance, a bad guy to flush out, and two people who fall in love against all odds.

There was so much to love about this new addition to Joey Hill’s Vampire Queen series and finding the best place to begin is both easy and difficult. This book is massive, 662 pages! So while I would say this could be read as a standalone because Joey did a phenomenal job describing past events, I do think the two books that would enhance this particular book are, Vampire Mistress and Vampire Trinity (Together they reach just over 790 pages, so for one book you know you are getting a gorgeous story). Both of those go together, read like a duet, and contain the story of vampire hunter Gideon Green, vampire master Daegan Rei along with the Club Atlantis owner Anwyn. These three characters all play integral parts in Vampire Master, especially Gideon. His story, in particular drives the duet and in turn he is a good friend and confidant to Ella in this book.

Ella works at Club Atlantis, but that is just one of her many jobs. She keeps herself busy as a waitress, a courier, a masseuse, just to name a few. Ella sleeps very little because she hates having down time, but also at her core she is extremely gracious and very subservient. She will make a Dom very happy someday.  She knows deep down whom she’d like that Dom to be, but she also knows it will probably never happen. Wolf has never made an advance to her, so she knows it would be a long shot.

Wolf works at Club Atlantis as a Master Dom. He not only teaches public scenes, he also helps with PTSD members in private. Wolf is an alpha extraordinaire. He’s never gotten close to Ella, other than having her help in a public scene, because he knows she’s a tempting treat he would not be able to give her up. Ella is more than ordinary, she is extraordinary. Her sub nature calls to his alpha nature is a big way, which is exactly why he stays away. He’s already lost everything once, he couldn’t live with himself to lose everything twice and yet his very nature only allows him to live with his mistakes.

As a vampire, Wolf’s very need is to live. As the top of the food chain his bloodlust makes sure that he craves dominating humans so that he never goes hungry. A subservient human is like throwing crack at a vampire. You only want more until you’ve taken all you can, luckily for Wolf, he’s had a lot of years to work up his tolerance and a lot of self loathing helps. Ella makes it really hard to stay away, especially given her propensity to head into danger. She’s like a magnet for dangerous situations and it isn’t long before leaving her side is almost impossible, his self loathing be damned.

Ella has only ever wanted love. Growing up in a foster home she doesn’t know what real love is, but even when Wolf offers up a temporary arrangement, she is willing to take it. Nothing in her life has ever been permanent and she knows things are fleeting, she’d rather have a little bit of good than a lot of nothing. Her open naivety is refreshing. She never pushes Wolf or manipulates him into something he isn’t ready for. Instead she seeks out answers to questions and is inquisitive about the vampire world (hence my deep affection for Gideon continues as he tries to protect and mentor her in his best Gideon way possible). She’s willing to walk away when Wolf is ready to go, but will he really be ready to let her go?

This entire book was a great addition to the Club Atlantis world along with being highly insightful to the vampire world Joey Hill has created. If you love this genre, and more importantly Joey’s books, then I believe you will love this book!
