A wickedly good, twisted, and intense vampyr novel. Knight has created a deeply flushed out world with rich emotions and dark passions. It’s not for the faint of heart, but for those who love why choose and dark fantasy this is a no brainer!
Althea was born from one of the most powerful seerer vampyr’s ever to live. While Althea herself doesn’t seem to possess that particular gift, she herself is destined for something greater. Without giving the plot away, Althea ends up basically banished from the court where she grew up and ends up in the hands of the Court of Nightmares. A place that is only spoken about in whispers, thought to be a myth, but as Althea discovers it is very real.
In the Court of Nightmares Althea finds seven of the most beautiful and powerful vampyrs she’s ever meet or heard about; Nathair, Osis, Azul, Lycus, Reve, Conall, and Zale. Each has their own special power (something unique that blends paras like I’ve never read before) and they all have their own story as to how they came to be part of the court.
As Althea learns about each of the Kings, their love, bond, and friendship grew stronger with each heart gripping moment. As I read I experienced moments of pure joy and also moments where tears gathered in my eyes. The Kings personal stories were all very moving.
Now let me tell you about all the nekky times…
This book is spicy knocked up 1000 degrees!! It’s also gory and intense mixed in with all kinds of spice. I mean they are vampyrs so that sort of goes hand in hand, but there were a few parts that even made me cringe, but it wasn’t until Althea actually proclaimed loving her monsters that I had an Aha moment! I didn’t realize I had stepped into this realm, but in for a penny and all that…However, I confess that my cringe had to do with my own phobias revolving around certain insects or is it bugs…whatever the case may be it’s a totally a me issue and I just read with my eyes closed. 😂 But the rest of the time I was reading with my eyes wide open because it was HOT!!🔥🔥
On another note, I am constantly amazed with any writer who can do a why choose book with so many peens because I had to have a notebook on who was who until I really nailed down their unique characteristics, but even then…brava to Althea on keeping up with so many men. I’d be exhausted and want to sleep for days with seven men constantly at me!! Don’t even get me started on doing their laundry…😂
