Review/Synopsis:

Review:
Evil Queen is an annual romance anthology celebrating women’s empowerment and it is jammed packed with short stories and novellas about powerful women. While romance is always the underlying theme, this anthology is truly meant to inspire readers that women can do anything if they set their minds to it.

There is a little bit of everything contained within the pages. Full short stories, prequels, characters you may have been introduced to before, spicy, sweet and everything in between.

Kandi Steiner added her own spicy short story that is wickedly brilliant and was both captivating and had a brilliant twist. Her powerful leading lady, Ember, embodied the spirit of this anthology and her short story is one not to miss!

Persephone Autumn contributed a sweeter story. Penny has had a crush on her new boss forever, he’s her brother’s best friend after all, but working together changes their relationship, especially when she’s working close to him.

Tori Fox’s short story contained a powerful leading lady. Riot is the manager of a rising rock band and working hard to make their star rise. Riot has rules when it comes to the band, but she’s also human when it comes to keeping her attraction on the back burner. The tension in this story, gave it the perfect amount of steam.

Meet Kandi

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

Washed Up; Bayside Heros #1

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

A second chance at life, filled with all the emotions and a beautifully written romance.

I had so many emotions and feelings come to the surface when I read this book. First and foremost, this interconnected series is going to be amazing. Several secondary characters within this story, which are featured in upcoming stories of their own, well…I’m just going to say the hints dropped within this book look very enticing.

Amanda Parks has recently escaped an abusive marriage. While I can’t personally say I’ve been through that, what I really empathized with was her mental state on basically everything. From being a forty-seven year old woman starting new adventures to her body image to dealing with her son when he still saw her as his mom (true yes), but she is also a woman with a lot of life still left to live.

Amanda is a woman who has been cast in a role that many of us have as a wife, mother, homemaker, but what happens once that ends and life still goes on around us?

Greg Weston is the perfect person to show Amanda that life still goes on when Amanda struggles with those very questions. Greg is thirteen years her junior and her son’s best friend, or he was when he was a teenage boy, that is also when Greg had a crush on Amanda. Sixteen years later he’s no longer a teenager, Greg is now a doctor and those feelings he once harbored for his best friends mother have morphed into something much stronger.

Greg challenges Amanda to discover new adventures, like kayaking or rock wall climbing. He also calls her his accountability partner because he too gets lost in the cycle of; work, eat, sleep, repeat. They create a list of things they want to do to push themselves to get out or even stay in, things they’ve never done or want to do, but that they have to do together so they don’t wither up and find that life has passed them by. It’s a wonderful plan that just made the entire book flow and build that chemistry between them.

Greg is really a great guy and I loved his old soul. He held a ton of integrity which made the fall for his character super easy. Their road to love was a slow build, but they had a ton of chemistry from the very beginning. All of the secondary characters were easy to like and I’m looking forward to jumping into their stories as well. Watch out Bayside here I come!

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

In this new anthology, where you’d think darkness reigns supreme, but it’s more about women empowerment and how women find their own happy endings…or beginnings.

This anthology is jammed pack with short stories, prequels, and novellas. Here is a look at just a few I reviewed:

Len Webster’s Juniper;

Len is a fantastic writer of angsty love triangles. Juniper has been in love with her friend Benny forever, but Benny has recently fallen in love with Darsha. This new development hasn’t lessened Juniper’s feelings any, but tell that to her best friend. While Juniper has tried her best to shove those feelings in a box, it doesn’t help when she has to see him making kissy face with his girlfriend. While it’s been almost a year and Juniper knows she needs to move on it’s easier said than done. However, when she meets Brandt, he might be the answer to finally starting a new path. Could this be the beginning of Len’s famous triangle?? While she doesn’t mention this continuing in a bigger book, it does have all the lovely components of a Webster angsty novel, so I’m hopeful to see these characters again.

Kelsie Rae’s Samantha;

A second chance love story. This novella is sweet and steamy all rolled into one second chance romance. Phoenix and Sam were best friends until Phoenix moved away ten years ago, but neither ever forgot the other. When they were just six years old they made a pact to marry one another on their twenty-fifth birthdays. Phoenix is now a rock star and Samantha is just an ordinary girl living in LA, they shouldn’t have the opportunity to run into one another, much less think about a pact they made almost twenty years ago, but can birthday wishes come true? This particular story, or at least these characters do continue in Kelsie’s next book.

Check out this book full of empowering, strong women.

Synopsis:

EVERYONE DESERVES A HAPPY ENDING.

This empowering collection features novelettes about strong women overcoming all the odds to become the best, authentic version of themselves.

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

The final book in this fun loving, dramatic series that wrapped around my heart and I’m going to miss. The characters became my friends and I’m going to miss them. All the drama, all the passion and all the relationships. It’s all been so, so good.

At the beginning of this series; Jess, Erin, Cassie, Ashlei, and Skyler all became greek sisters at PSU and began the journey into a deep friendship and a bond of sisterhood that would lead them into heartbreak, self discovery, relationships that would work, relationships that wouldn’t work, ups and downs, fights, job paths, etc… It all comes down to this final semester when you know real life is right around the corner, will everyone survive?

Jess was left with a choice when the last book ended. She was happily in love with Kade when Jarrett came back into her life. Jarrett was her first love, but her shattered her heart. Kade was the boy who was there when she was at her lowest and made her believe in love again. She has a decision to make over two men, because she does love them both, but she can’t keep them both. I love how this story played out and that Jess took her time to really think about the over all ramifications of her decision. This particular story always pulled at my heart and really tore me up, so I couldn’t be happier.

Bear and Erin had the biggest hurdles to overcome throughout this entire series and I adore them as a couple. I love how they both have grown as individuals and in their relationship together. They make each other stronger and through their support of one another they have blossomed into one of my favorite couples.

Adam and Cassie was one of my favorite couples from the beginning of this series, but this last semester proved to be once again one of their hardest. As Adam was working in another state the long distance was putting a strain on their relationship, would it survive Cassie’s final semester at PSU?

Ashlei suffers a huge setback in her pole class, but the rest of her life is actually pretty amazing. Of all the girls Ashlei kind of has her life together. She has a great job and a great guy…could things get better? They just might for the girl who had a rough start at the beginning of this series.

Skyler who was riding the top of the world with a great guy, won second place in a poker tournament, and was now the president in the greek house her world was falling apart. She didn’t know how to forgive Kip when he didn’t know how to apologize. Her life was in shambles, but she also didn’t know how to move on without the most important person in her life.

With this series coming to a close I’m really going to miss them and all the drama. I’m going to wonder what has happened as they’ve aged five or ten years from now. Perhaps there will be a reunion special. One can only hope.

New Release – Hazed: Palm South University #6 by Kandi Steiner

Spring is here and it’s time to heat things up. Welcome to Palm South University.

Hazed: Palm South University #6 by Kandi Steiner is now live!

Half the crew is back at Palm South.
The other half has graduated.

Jess, Ashlei, and Erin move downtown together after graduation. While Ashlei recovers from heartbreak and makes a new plan of attack, Erin is trying to survive law school — and her new relationship. And after the explosive season finale of Ritual, Jess has found herself in quite the pickle.

Meanwhile at PSU, Bear and Adam are in their final semesters, which means one last Spring Break to rule them all. That’s not the only thing on Bear’s mind, though — not after he has a realization that changes everything. And while Adam and Cassie are finally back on track, their next chapter may not be as easy.

Skyler and Kip are back together after a semester apart, but while they expected a fairy tale ending, a newcomer might throw a wrench in their plans.

Hazed; Palm South University #6
(#6 within a series)

Publication Date: March 25, 2021

Genre/Tropes: New Adult/College Romance

Author: Kandi Steiner

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

The nostalgia that rushes through me when I pick up a PSU book, I love the memories that innindate me during and after I read this series.

I always feel like I’m visiting old friends when I pick up a PSU book and I can hardly wait to catch up with each character as I dive back in. In Hazed we join the gang as they return back to school for spring semester, while a few others have recently graduated and are just beginning their lives out in the real world.

While Jess, Ashlei and Erin are recent graduates of PSU and figuring out how to adult in the afterlife of college, things may not exactly be as easy as what they expected, but no one said adulting was easy.

Adam, Bear, Skyler and Cassie are heading into their last semester or their last year of school. Trying to enjoy every last moment while time is flying by can be difficult when making your final decisions as to what happens next, but this gang is making every moment count.

There is only one more book after Hazed and it makes me weepy to think that the PSU kids are growing up and becoming full grown adults. Kandi really nails so many college experiences with each book in this entire series, hence the overwhelming nostalgia I experience everytime I read one of these books. They do need to be read in order, so please start from the beginning and enjoy the full experience.

Excerpt:

“Do you have pole tomorrow?” he asks, checking his side mirror before he pulls onto the road. “No, I need a rest day.” “And it’s Sunday, so you wouldn’t have class, right?” My suspicion rises. “No… but I do have Chapter at six.” “Chapter…” he muses, side-eyeing me with a grin. “Damn sorority.” I smack his arm playfully. “Do you think you could skip it, just this once?” “Probably not without a death threat from Ex,” I say seriously. “But… what are you proposing?” We pull up to a red light, and Brandon bites his lip before turning to me. “The Bahamas.” “The Bahamas?!” “The Exumas, technically.” “The Exumas,” I repeat, sounding like a freaking parrot at this point. “You’re proposing we go to the Exumas tonight,” I clarify. “As in… the place where you swim with pigs.” “I was thinking more like the place where I fuck you on my yacht and drink fruity cocktails out of coconuts with you on the beach,” he says on a smirk, and the light turns green, making him turn back to the road with a shrug. “But if you’d rather swim with pigs…” I laugh, shaking my head at the ridiculousness of it. I’m tempted to say We can’t just go to the fucking Bahamas, Brandon, but I know that’s a lie. He has a yacht. And more money than he knows how to spend. Technically, we can go to the Bahamas. I’m quiet for a long while, and Brandon glances at me from the corner of his eye before pulling into a random restaurant parking lot. It’s a Mexican diner, not even open yet, since it’s only ten in the morning. When he’s parked, he turns to me, grabbing my hands and pulling them into his lap. “Look, we’ve both been busy this summer — you with your exec position in the sorority, and pole… me with this national client we’re in the bidding war for… both of us working hard at Okay, Cool after everything that went down in the spring with Kim… and now, school is back in session, it’s the last semester before you graduate, we’re both hard at work, and I just…” He smooths his dark thumbs over my wrists, his eyes that are usually so intense, soft and vulnerable now. “This might be our last chance to spend some real, quality time together before life gets even crazier than it already is.” My heart melts into a puddle right there on the floorboard of his expensive ass car, and I lean over the console, kissing him long and hard. “Let’s go to the Bahamas,” I whisper between kisses. “You’re right. Everything else can wait.” He sighs, wrapping his arms around me until he’s pulling me into his lap. I squeal and laugh, but then my next breath is stolen by the erection growing in his slacks. “This would be a lot easier on the yacht,” I say, rubbing the seam of my leggings against his hard-on. “Maybe,” he says, sucking on my bottom lip and releasing it with a pop. His lips trail down my neck as my head rolls back. “But these windows are tinted, and you’re sexy when you say I’m right.”

Ritual; Palm South University #5
(#5 within a series)

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

Bring on the college drama, I am completely hooked on PSU!! This is one series, like a favorite TV show that returns season after season, I cannot get enough of.

A new year at PSU, for some of the students this is their last semester, or last year. For all of them they may be another year older, perhaps a touch wiser, but they are still filled with lots of our favorite drama. Ritual is layed out, just like the past four books in six episodes where each character gets a POV focus and all of their stories interweave throughout the entire book. Ritual should not be read as a standalone, only read after the previous four books to have the best understanding.

Jess is entering her final semester of college and finally over her relationship with Jarrett. At the end of last semester she was approached by a freshman, Kade, to be his “teacher”. Jess, also known as J-Love had a well known reputation, one she isn’t ashamed of, so once she decides to put that reputation to good use and really getting Jarrett out of her system for good she says yes. What she didn’t expect was catching feelings for Kade in the process.

Bear, the strong, emotional support guy of the group for everyone really struggles emotionally this book. He crashes hard with everything Erin revealed to him at the end of last semester, his addict mother, his brother that is growing up and making decisions on his own, and more. There are things hitting him at all sides and the big guy isn’t sure how to fix himself. His story is truly heartbreaking. He’s so lost and I just want to give him a hug.

Erin has finally come to grips with her past, her mistakes, and everything that happened to her. She’s getting counseling, going to therapy, and trying to make amends to those she’s wronged. Even with all she’s been through Erin finds herself at a point where she’s open and meets someone at therapy. Gavin makes her feel alive, a feeling she hasn’t felt in a really long time.

Ashlei is finishing up her last semester too and working back at Brandon’s company. However, there is a new intern that gives her a side eye and makes her uncomfortable from the get go. No matter how strong her relationship is with Brandon Ashlei has a bad feeling that something is going to happen to mess it up. So she works hard, keeps her focus on work, but also silently waiting for the other shoe to drop.

After coming in second place at the biggest poker tournament of her life, Skyler is actually happier than ever, that is only because she lost to her boyfriend, Kip. Their relationship is strong, but the only sad part is he is attending school in California while she is still in Florida. They do talk and video chat constantly and of all the couples I feel the best about their lasting relationship.

Cassie and Adam is the couple I continue to feel the most angst over, every single book!! I want to smack them every time. Although isn’t there that couple in every favorite show you watch? They have been official now for over a semester because before that they never could seem to get on the same page. However, this semester an ex makes a reappearance which throws a monkey wrench into their perfect bliss and once again you will shout and scream at this duo.

Kandi Steiner really knocked it out of the park with her return to PSU. I was engrossed from the beginning to the very end. I can hardly wait until the next season, there is still so much I need to know!

OF Cover Final.png

It’s a man’s world.

When I declared sports medicine as my major and every man narrowed their eyes, that saying proved true. It was true when my ex-husband decided I’d give up my career when our daughter was born. And again when I divorced the Chief of Police in our small town, and he made it painfully clear that I could leave him, but I would never be free.

Landing the job as the new athletic trainer for Stratford’s high school team is my chance to start over. And walking into a male-dominated sport and staff, I’m ready for the challenge.

I’m not ready for Jordan Becker.

The head coach of our championship winning team is a Herculean force of nature—as severe as he is determined. His icy blue eyes and permanent scowl drive the women in this town mad, and his quiet power and undeniable command conjure respect from every man.

When I join his team, I expect the doubt and anticipate the fight from him. And I get them both.

I don’t expect to form a friendship.

And I never expect to fall for him.

My breath catches when those cool eyes fall to my lips. My body comes alive when his is near. And as those lines begin to blur, every warning bell sounds.

My job, my reputation are on the line.

And my ex is around every corner, waiting to remind me of his power.

It’s a man’s world, and if I want to survive, I can never fall in love with Jordan Becker.

Even if he falls in love with me first.

About Kandi:

Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

Old Fashioned; Becker Brothers #4
(A standalone within a series)

by: Kandi Steiner

Review Rating:

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

The final Becker Brother is finally here and while Jordan has always been the quietest and stoic brother of the four, he is also the best one to finish out the series.

Jordan Becker is a man of few words, but everyone knows that when he does offer them up you listen. As a high school football coach who has won the last two championship seasons, there is a lot of pressure on him to bring home the title again. It’s always a challenge with students graduating and new students coming on the team, but as a coach that is his job, but his greatest challenge this year will be working with the distraction of Sydney Clark, the new female athletic trainer. It’s hard enough wrangling hormonal teenage boys around the beautiful woman, but when he finds himself thinking about her nonstop, he knows she is more than just a distraction, she is someone he wants to know better. He has always been a man of few words, but around Sydney he finds himself opening up like he never has. He wants more with her than he has with anyone else, but the only problem is she wants to keep them a secret.

Sydney Clark is fresh from a nasty divorce and working as an athletic trainer has always been her dream. When things with Jordan get heated, working with Jordan Becker becomes complicated. He isn’t exactly her boss, but he is her superior and not to mention she’s a woman working in a male dominated field, the last thing she wants is to have rumors flying around that she doesn’t deserve her job. As much as she would love to date Jordan in public, there are so many factors for keeping their relationship private. Unfortunately the longer it goes the harder it becomes to actually come clean. Can they really have a future if all they can ever do is hide?

Old Fashioned is a slow burn romance, with lots of good Becker family moments entwined, and the big family mystery finally solved. While this can be read as a standalone, you would probably enjoy Old Fashioned if you’ve read some or all of the other books, but it is not required.

Synopsis:

The epic finale of the Becker Brothers series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone.

And I get them both.

don’t expect to form a friendship.

Binge the series to get the full effect when Old Fashioned releases! (Old Fashioned CAN be read as a stand-alone, if you don’t want to read the other brothers)

Manhattan - RB banner.jpg

Manhattan, a standalone in the Becker Brothers series, a small town, country, friends-to-lovers romance, is LIVE!

The fire… the guitar… THE FEELS!

Manhattan Cover FINAL.png

Everyone knows not to fall in love with your best friend.

But when your best friend is Michael Becker, it’s impossible not to.

He’s everything our town knows a Becker brother to be: devastatingly handsome, charming as a thief, and the icing on the cake — a sentimental musician who’s never without his guitar.

And he was mine. At least, that’s what I’d convinced myself.

Our bond was born in elementary school, strengthened by circumstance and the promise to always be there for each other, no matter what. And the best thing about my life was being friends with Michael Becker.

Until it was the worst.

I watched him fall in love with someone else, and helped patch him back up when she left him behind. But when he drops the bomb that he’s moving to New York, I realize it’s my last chance to tell him how I feel. And I ask him to make one more promise.

One summer. One list of adventures to remind him that our small town has more to offer than memories of the girl who left him behind.

One last chance to tell him I’m in love with him.

And I’m just dumb enough to believe that maybe he could love me, too.

Manhattan; Becker Brothers #3 (Series)
by Kandi Steiner (Author)

This review is from: December 13, 2019 By Kay Daniels
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥

Manhattan is a slow burn, friends-to-lovers, new adult/young adult romance. Mickey Becker and Kylie Nelson are recent high school graduates who have been best friends since elementary school. Sharing every experience together made them extremely close, but this last summer together is the final chance Kylie has to finally tell Mickey that her feelings have changed and she likes him as more than a best friend before he leaves for New York City. There is a continuation of a storyline behind the Becker father’s mysterious death ten years ago, but it is not a central point in this story and you do not have to have read the prior books in the series to connect with Mickey and Kylie’s story.

We’ve all been a teenager; full of raging hormones, uncontrollable dips in emotions, overwhelming feelings that we don’t understand. Reading Manhattan was like looking back in a time capsule at what being a teenager was like (reminded me how much I did not want to go back and relive those days, but also the passion about EVERYTHING that teenagers feel, and that there is no inbetween). I love that Kandi wrote Kylie and Mikey as typical teenagers, all those ups and downs and indescribable feelings that teens feel. Yes, there were so many moments that I wanted to smack both of them for their idiotic teenager emotions, but that is exactly what they are…eighteen years old which actually made the story perfect. If they had behaved like thirty year olds the story wouldn’t have held the emotional depth that Kandi drew out of them for the stage of life that they were at.

Mickey Becker is a boy who is struggling to find his identity. He’s the youngest of four brothers, who lost his father ten years ago, and lost his long term girlfriend almost eight months ago when she up and left  deciding to move to Nashville to pursue a music career without him. The last one really hurt since it was dream he’d had to move with her once they’d both graduated from high school, now he didn’t know what to do with his life, except escape the town he grew up in and all the memories that linger. When he announces that he’s moving to New York once the summer ends he throws his entire family for a loop, but more importantly he changes everything in his best friends life and for the first time ever he see Kylie through new eyes.

Kylie Nelson and Mickey have been best friends since they were eight years old bonding over the loss of their parents the summer they were both eight, they have been thick as thieves ever since. When Mickey announces he’s moving after graduation Kylie finally realizes she’s run out of time. The only boy she’s ever loved could leave and he might never know how she really feels. With only the summer left to hopefully change his mind and show him that not all things are bad about the hometown he grew up in, she has a mission to walk down memory lane and bring back Mickey’s smile.

Rival families. Deep secrets. Exact opposites who can’t help but cross all the lines. Neat will leave you thirsty for more Becker Brothers!” — bestselling author Staci Hart

Neat, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Kandi Steiner is LIVE!

Neat Cover FINAL.png

My life is over.

I swore I would never work at the whiskey distillery with my last name on it, that I would never be a part of my father’s legacy. But when I graduated with my art degree and realized there were no jobs, the devil appeared, and I sold my soul, agreeing to work in the family business if he’d give me the art studio I’d always dreamed of.

It can’t be that bad, I thought.

Until I realized my new boss was Logan Becker.

The Becker brothers have a reputation for being trouble, and since I love trouble, it’s no surprise to me that I’m infatuated by that forbidden fruit the first day I walk into the distillery. That lean, whiskey-eyed, too-hot-for-his-own-good man hates me — and I can’t blame him. His family has been at war with mine for decades, and for good reason.

The Beckers and the Scooters are the Montagues and Capulets of Stratford, Tennessee.

But if he’s Romeo, and I’m Juliet? Well… we all know how that story ends — and for that reason, I tell myself to steer clear.

Because if my father finds out I’m falling for Logan Becker, my life actually will be over.

And Logan’s will be, too.

Excerpt:

“So… I guess we should just be…” Logan swallowed. “Friends?”

The way he asked it, the way his eyebrows bent together, his lips flattening — I knew it was a hollow offer.

I nodded. “Sure. Of course.” A smile that felt like a wave of nausea found my lips. “Friends.”

Logan watched me, and I watched him, both of us waiting for something more. It seemed like there were a million unborn words between us, floating in the air, waiting for us to reach out and grab them and bring them to life. When a long moment of silence had passed, Logan bit the inside of his cheek, picking up his highlighter he’d abandoned on the desk when I’d walked in like he was ready to get back to work.

“But,” I said, and his eyes snapped to mine, the highlighter frozen over the page. “I mean… there’s another option, isn’t there?”

Logan dropped the highlighter, leaning back again. “There is?”

“I’m just saying,” I said, voice shakier than I wanted it to be in that moment. I took a sip of my coffee, shrugging. “What if we kept things low key… casual… just between us?” My eyes found his again. “It is what it is, and it’s not what it’s not. Right? No need for anyone to know.”

“Low key,” Logan repeated, like he was tasting the words, checking them for poison with his tongue. “So, friends… with benefits.”

I snorted. “If you want to be twenty-one about it, sure.”

Logan nodded, over and over, just a slight movement of his chin up and down as he considered it. I watched him as he stood, and I expected him to start pacing the office, but instead, he crossed it, closing his door and turning to face me.

His eyes swept over me, sparking a fire low in my stomach.

He wet his lips.

He took a step.

And then I was out of my chair, meeting him in the middle, the two of us crashing together like magnets.

His hands weaved into my hair when he captured my mouth with his own, both of us sighing on an inhale, moaning on the exhale, leaning into each other like we could somehow melt together completely. All the electricity I’d felt that night came back like a tidal wave, and I surrendered to the waves, letting them drown me. I wanted him to fill my lungs, to conquer every breath, to imprison me.

It was a kiss that told me we were both lying. We both wanted more.

But if it was a choice between this, or nothing at all?

There wasn’t a decision to make — not where I was concerned. It had already been made for us, without either of us having a say, without either of us having an ounce of control to throw this story in another direction.

We were inevitable, me and him.

And maybe we knew it from the start.

Logan backed me up to the desk, and when my ass hit it, I hiked both legs up, wrapping them around his waist and squeezing. He hissed, sucking my bottom lip between his teeth and releasing it with a pop, his hips rolling against mine. I broke the kiss to let out a gasp, and his mouth was on my neck in an instant, sucking and biting, my eyes rolling back at the contact.

He paused with his lips by my ear, breathing heavy. “I think this could work for me,” he whispered, running his tongue over my ear lobe. “This… friends agreement.” His hands squeezed where they held my hips, and the familiar pressure sent flashes of Saturday night barreling through my memory. I gasped, mouth still hanging open when he kissed my neck over to the opposite ear to whisper again. “What do you think?”

Against the voice inside me warning me not to, I ran my fingers through his hair, gripping those dark strands and pulling his lips back to mine.

That kiss was an answer.

That kiss was a lie.

And distantly, I realized that kiss might be the biggest mistake of my life.

Neat; Becker Brothers #2 (Series)
by Kandi Steiner (Author)

This review is from: September 15, 2019 By Kay Daniels
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥🔥

Neat combined just the right amount of family, mystery, flirty, and dirty to make this new Becker Brothers romance a total hit!!

In a fiction world; Logan Becker is my spirit animal. He is addicted to lists, organization, highlighters, and the need for worthless knowledge which is all like foreplay crack to me. Although if I was being fair; it would also appear that I married my fictional spirit animal in Mallory Scooter. He’s a procrastinator, messy, and has been reading the same book for the past year. Although like any good romance book would tell you…opposites attract.

Here’s a little insight into Logan and Mallory. The Romeo and Juliet of our story.

Mallory Scooter is the daughter and granddaughter of the Scooter Whiskey Distillery that has been in her family for generations. Their families have been feuding; much like the Montagues and Capulets. So when Mallory is forced to begin working at the distillery, by making a deal with her father (the devil), she isn’t exactly thrilled to be working under Logan Becker, but not for the reasons everyone in town would necessarily think. She doesn’t want to be working there period and with her uncle soon retiring she has a feeling her father might have nefarious reasons up his sleeves that don’t exactly thrill her. She has agreed to work there in exchange for her father loaning her money to buy a studio for art. She doesn’t want to work at the distillery, never has, but her deal with the devil remains and working under Logan is just passing time, which she doesn’t take seriously.

Logan Becker has worked hard at not only preserving the Becker family name at the distillery, but also at moving up in the company. There will be a spot opening soon, with a retirement coming up, that he knows he is perfect for, he just has to bide his time. However, training the bosses daughter isn’t exactly the highlight of his career, especially since he’s harbored a secret crush on her since high school. If he can make it through this he knows the promotion will be his. He just can’t screw it up. He doesn’t like that Mallory doesn’t take work seriously and ends up getting him in trouble in the first time since he’s ever worked there. Of course a Scooter would happen to make him look bad. You would think that would be enough to keep him away, but he ends up finding a soft spot for the girl who dislikes her father as much as he does. A common thread is sometimes all it takes for that old attraction to ignite.

As a guy who likes things neat and orderly, Mallory completely flips Logan’s world upside down. She ties him up in knots and frankly makes him question what he’s doing most days, but the same can be said for her. She thrives on chaos and spontinately. She loves pushing people’s buttons and doesn’t really like rules. How can these two really get along for five minutes to actually get something accomplished? And if they do end up actually taking things to the next level, without bloodshed because this really isn’t Romeo and Juliet, how are they supposed to help a family that has been feuding for generations see eye to eye?

Neat is a fantastic modern day Romeo and Juliet, with a lot less dying.

Neat is a stand-alone book in the Becker Brothers Series. ⁣

On the Rocks by Kandi Steiner

Release Date: June 13, 2019

OTR Cover FINAL.png

On the Rocks, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Kandi Steiner.

Noah Becker is nothing but trouble.

That’s what Mama told me when I was a kid, kicking his pew in church and giggling at the games we’d play. It’s what the town said when his father died and the Becker brothers went wild.

And it’s on repeat in my mind the day I walk into the whiskey distillery where he works to buy a wedding gift for my fiancé.

He’s trouble.

Dirty, sweaty, rude trouble.

No matter how many times I repeat it, I can’t escape Noah in our small Tennessee town. And the more I run into him, the more he infuriates me. Because he sees what no one else does.

He sees me—the real me.

The me I’m not sure I’m allowed to be.

I’m Ruby Grace Barnett, the mayor’s daughter. Soon to be a politician’s wife, just like Mama and Daddy always wanted. Soon to fulfill my family’s legacy, just like I always knew I would.

Until the boy everyone warned me about makes me question everything, like whether the wedding I’m planning is one I even want.

Everyone said Noah Becker was nothing but trouble.

If only I had listened.

A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

Blog Tour.pngExcerpt:

I watched from the sidelines as Betty schooled Noah on the final dance scene from the classic movie — and one of her favorites. Noah, bless his heart, took it in stride. He held her hands, spun her gently, even went under water completely to give Betty some sort of “lift” that made her feel like Jennifer Grey.

That was when her smile was the largest — her eyes closed, face cast upward, arms out in the same iconic flight stance that the actress had done.

If I wasn’t laughing so hard, I might have cried at the sentiment.

After a dozen more run throughs, Betty called for a break, and the two of them swam up to the side of the pool where I sat. Betty took the lemonade I offered her, sipping and hollering across the pool at Mr. Buchanan — who was seated under the umbrellas. Noah rested his arms on the concrete edge, crossing them and resting his head on his forearm before he peered up at me through lashes still dripping with water.

His eyes were an endless blue, the light from the pool reflecting off them like a tropical dream.

“Enjoying your entertainment this afternoon, Miss. Barnett?”

I bit my lip against a smile. “Very much so, Mr. Becker. I never knew you were such a great dancer.”

“Oh, you should see me on the actual dance floor. I can two step and waltz and cha cha with the best of them. And don’t even get me started on what happens when ‘Watermelon Crawl’ comes on.”

“I’m sure it’s quite entertaining,” I mused, still dangling my feet in the cool water.

“When do I get to see your dance moves?”

I barked out a laugh at that. “Um, that would be approximately… never.”

“Never?” he asked, popping his head up off his arms with a look of injustice. “But you’ve seen all my moves, now. I show you mine, you show me yours. Isn’t that the deal?”

“I never agreed to that.”

He narrowed his eyes, running his forefinger and thumb over the stubble on his chin before he nodded. “I see…” Then, a wicked gleam came over those blue steel eyes, and before I could so much as scream, his hand wrapped around my wrist, tugging forward until I was off the ledge and under water.

I popped up instantly, not even able to open my eyes against the chlorine yet before I was swinging at him. “Noah!”

He laughed, catching my advances easily and pulling me into him. I blinked several times, shaking the drops from my eyes before I glared up at him.

“You jerk. Mama’s going to kill me for ruining my hair.”

“Mama will live,” he said, and then one arm wrapped around my waist, the other taking my hand in a leading position. “Now, let’s dance, little lady.”

With one pull of my hand and push of my hip, I spun away from him, reeling back in like a yo-yo and falling in line with his steps before I realized what was happening. Surprise ripped through me, brows shooting up to my hairline as he somehow managed to smoothly twirl me around that metaphorical dance floor even with water hitting us waist deep. My feet felt sluggish, the moves slower than if we were in boots on a hardwood floor, but somehow, that made it even more fun.

I laughed and laughed as he danced me around — until he had the bright idea to flip me like a swing dancer. I emerged from the water beating on his chest again, which just made him laugh harder. And when we were breathless, Noah tugged me to the side of the pool again.

“Thank you for the dance,” he said, both of us still breathing heavily as he wrapped his strong, rugged hands around my waist. For a moment, he just held them there, the rough pad of his thumbs smoothing over my exposed hip bones. My smile fell, chest still heaving as my eyes slipped to his lips.

I didn’t know why I looked at them.

I didn’t know why I couldn’t look away.

Noah swallowed, tightening his grip on my hips before he lowered in the water a little and helped push me back up onto the edge of the pool where I’d been seated before. Once I was steady, he released his hold on me, backing away with a distant look in his eyes that I couldn’t decipher before he tore them from me and looked at Betty, instead.

OTR- RB banner.jpg

On the Rocks, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Kandi Steiner is LIVE!

OTR Cover FINAL.png

And I always want what I can’t have.

When Sarah Henderson walks into my life, I tell myself she’s off limits. She’s my student, sixteen years younger than me, and my boss’s niece. It doesn’t matter that I see the same pain reflected in her eyes that I have in my own, or that the dead organ better known as my heart kicks to life when she’s around.

I’ve been here before, and I know how this ends.

It’s been two years since I fell for the last woman I knew I couldn’t have, the one with the ring on her finger that I chose to ignore.

Two years of trying to overcome that heartache when Sarah slides into my life.

Another woman I can’t have. Another woman I can’t stop myself from wanting.

I never learn my lesson, but with a constant reminder of how that last forbidden love burned, I think I’ve finally learned this one.

This time, I won’t chase what’s off limits.

This time, I’m staying away.

And I’ll keep telling myself that until I believe it.

Review – What He Never Knew by Kandi Steiner

What He Never Knew; What He Doesn’t Know #3 (Series)
by Kandi Steiner (Author)

This review is from: February 16, 2019 By Kay Daniels (Kindle Edition-Goodreads)
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥

Unlike a lot of readers, I did not read the What He Doesn’t Know duet leading into this book and I actually think I’m grateful for that.

Let me explain. Before I purchase anything I always read reviews; first because I find them helpful, second for the pure enjoyment of reading ones that are witty or insightful or for information on assembly. Have you ever noticed that assembly manuals are almost worthless when you buy something that requires lots of parts and tools? You actually have better luck finding information on YouTube or by reading reviews than by reading the manual that came with your new product. Yes, I read the manuals too. I basically read everything.

Anway…after I sat and wrote my review for What He Never Knew, yes, I actually hand write my reviews first before retyping them. FYI, they drastically change by the time it lands here, but at least by hand writing them first it helps me gather my thoughts.

So, as I was saying, I went to post my review on Goodreads and saw there was a duet prior to this book (I actually didn’t know that). When I began reading the book, I suspected there might have been a story leading into this one, but honestly Kandi Steiner never once made me pause and question what was going on. She wove a beautiful, yet heartbreaking story about two broken people and the foundation was all there. Her tragic story about Reese and Sarah drew me in right from the beginning and so many times I wondered if healing was what they needed from each other instead of falling in love.  It was magic to watch their scars heal up and then when Reese and Sarah reached the tipping point when they were actually ready to make that next step. It wasn’t rushed or strained, it was actually quite lovely, so perfectly right, I would say Kandi Steiner is the queen of crafting a difficult story into beautiful moments.

For those who didn’t read the duet, like myself, know Reese does open up and tell his story in this book. So reading the duet prior to this one isn’t a requirement. What He Never Knew is a complete standalone.

Reese Walker is a broken man, in love with a woman he can never have. A married woman. His best friends sister. She’s having a family, she’s happy and she has moved on. Reese wakes up, goes to work, sees her, loves her from afar, goes home to an empty house, goes to sleeps, next day repeat. He hasn’t moved on. What’s the point. He’s already met the woman he was supposed to love and she doesn’t love him back, he might as well resign himself to that knowledge and know his life is what it is.

That is until he meets Sarah Henderson. She is the first person to bring sunshine back into his days. She is the first person to bring meaning back to his piano playing. She is the first person to get his thinking off the girl he can’t have. She is everything he thought he couldn’t have. Although, he really can’t have her either. Sarah is his student. She isn’t exactly available. Why does he always desire someone he can’t have? Why can’t he just be happy?

“I’ve never been one to gravitate toward the things that were best for me in my life.”-Reese Walker

As for Sarah, I will warn, if you suffer from PTSD and are triggered by by the mention of rape in any form this book may not be for you. Now Kandi Steiner doesn’t go into detail by any means, but the aftermath, the fallout, the guilt, the emotional trauma, everything that goes hand in hand with the horrible act is there written in black and white. I have never been through such a life changing event, but Steiner put me there empathically, emotionally, physically. I ached for Sarah everytime she relieved it.

Her abuse, along with an injury caused from her abuser, sets her back on her journey to becoming a concert pianist. She seeks out Reese Walker to mentor her on the road to play at Carnegie Hall. A lofty goal, but one she’s had her entire life. Sarah is very talented, but she has a huge emotional hurdle to jump. She has to learn to love the piano again and not associate the thing she loves with the abuse she received.

For both Reese and Sarah, they are actually perfect for each other, but in reality they have a mountain to climb before they are actually good for each other.

Reese has given up hope, looking at himself as a washed up old man teaching to children who have loftier dreams than himself. However, Sarah looks at him with great potential and constantly reminds him that he is never too old to dream. On the other hand, Sarah who has been told her entire life she is never good enough, is filled with fire and loves proving people wrong. It is this tenacity that Reese discovers and admires in her. He knows she has the willpower to make it to New York now he just has to get her to believe in herself and find her passion to play once again.

These two passionate people made me ache for their pain. Artists in general are known for their deep wells of self-torture and that’s typically when they create the most beautiful and artistic pieces. Know this book will rip you to shreds, the music, at times, may sound harsh, but in the end Kandi Steiner creates a gorgeous, well orchestrated symphony.

“We’re artists. We’re musicians. We’re…We’re not destined to run from our misery, we’re destined to bathe in it – and to somehow find a way to make it beautiful.” Reese Walker
