2019 Goals. Happy July!! Half of 2019 has gone by, where has the time disappeared to?

Summer finally arrived somewhere amidst all the rain and it also included a lot of fantastic reading.

I’m going to keep my babbling brief this month because I have more reading and sunbathing to get back to…

But, if you’ve missed the past few months, where I not only launched into my journey of 2019 goals, but also highlighted other amazing authors, please check them out by clicking on the links below.

Now—Welcome to June!!

June was filled with romcoms, bully romances, sports romances, contemporary reads and so much more, but it was the second chance story by Kristin Harte of Pop the Clutch that stood out among everything I read.

This book touched on some very real social media consequences, but also had one of the best book boyfriends I’ve ever read. Easton Cole is not only a hard working, blue collar walking wet dream, he is also a gentleman with manners. His silver tongue is made for sweet talking and dirty talking and other fun activities. He is everything a wish granted all rolled up into one.

Then there was Violet Foster who was dealing with her past and her present all at once, not a pleasant situation, but Easton stayed by her side every step of the way. This couple was a great read and I loved Kristin’s writing, I hope you will too.

To Violet Foster, the past ten years have been a continual replay of an ill-fated night in high school. Without warning, she went from Downriver’s sweetheart to unintentional adult film star, her most intimate moments shared with the world in ten-second loops. She’s lost friends, been forced to change career plans, and had to stop dating because of that one indiscretion. VIOLET

“What are you doing?” I asked, nearly breathless.

He smiled and held up the remote. “You mentioned zombies the other night at the grocery store. I looked it up, and there’re four movies streaming this month. Thought you might like to watch one.”

Zombies. He remembered me talking about zombies after I’d hit him with non-organic produce. The man was lethal to my control.

My lips were on his before I could think, before I could tell myself to hold back. This man—this ridiculously handsome and generous man—had just surprised me in the best way. It wasn’t often people remembered such inconsequential details, and even less likely that they’d take the time to make sure there were zombie movies available to watch before going on a date with me. We hadn’t made plans to come back to his place. It had been a spur-of-the-moment decision. Or maybe it hadn’t. Maybe Easton had hoped the night would end this way. Maybe he’d planned it.

Thank God he’d planned it.

Easton slid his hands right to my hips and pulled me close, manhandling me in a way that was both forceful and easy. A way that made my heart beat a little harder, a little faster. I moaned and deepened the kiss, needing more of him. Wanting so much. When the contact simply wasn’t enough, I threw caution to the wind and my leg over his lap. Straddling him. Pressing myself against where he was already hard. Shivering at how needy I felt already.

His kiss became rougher, more urgent, even as his hands skated along my sides and up to my breasts in the gentlest way. The juxtaposition, the sweetness under the desire, had me desperate for more. Every roll of my hips brought another sigh, every time he nipped my bottom lip or sucked it between his teeth another groan. Soaking wet and practically panting, I arched into his touch, wishing for more, hoping he’d take the hint and—

“Yes, more,” I said as he grabbed my breasts over my clothes. Heat and need exploded within me, my nipples tingling as he teased them with his thumb. I hadn’t had a dry-hump session in years, hadn’t remembered how good they could be. Easton hadn’t even gotten his hands in my pants, and I was already so close. So wet for him. So ready to let go and just come.

I dropped my head onto his shoulder and rocked my hips, craving so much more. Desperate to just give in and get what I needed. Ready to give him things I probably shouldn’t. Chasing that high I knew we both needed. Both craved.

With a sudden groan, Easton thrust up harder, lifting me with the strength behind the move. There was no denying how good that felt, how the move made goose bumps appear on my arms. Our bodies were completely connected, nothing but fabric in our way. He was hard and hot, pressing into where I was already so wet, so wanting. A shiver made its way up my spine as he rubbed against me in one long, slow press. So good, so much, so fucking wet. I dropped my head back and pressed my breasts into his hands, wanting more. Needing the feel of his hands on me, the sensation of his skin on mine, the pinch of his thumbs teasing my nipples again. He didn’t disappoint. Easton took my position as an invitation and nuzzled into my neck, biting softly, still rocking his hips and making me want to scream. Want to cry. Want to tell him not to stop.

But when Dolly brushed against my leg and let out a loud meow, my brain and my body stopped working in tandem.

“Shit,” Easton said, growling slightly, breaking his rhythm and looking over the edge of the couch toward the orange fluff ball. “Sorry—she can be a pest.”

That pest sauntered to the couch across from us and hopped up, making herself comfortable. Watching me. Bringing the reality of the moment back into crystal-clear focus.

“Easton.” I dropped my head to his shoulder, something dark and heavy forming in my gut. Something almost fear-like, but not quite. He didn’t push me, though, didn’t try to keep going. Instead, he edged back against the couch and slid his hands to my ribs.

“We can stop. I didn’t bring you here for this.”

Review – Pop the Clutch by Kristin Harte

Pop the Clutch; Second Gear #1 (Series)
by Kristin Harte (Author)

This review is from: June 2, 2019 By Kay Daniels
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level:🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Is there anything sexier than a man who displays vulnerability, is a gentleman, but is also still a man. Easton Cole runs his own business, fixes cars, takes care of his family, loves his mother, but also holds doors, cares about the feelings of the woman he’s with and is vulnerable enough to be himself without being a macho jerk about it. To sum up…Easton Cole is the perfect book boyfriend in every way!!! Pop the Clutch is an excellent book, but Easton makes it even better. I have a major BB hangover which I’m sure I’ll be riding for days!!!

Although we hear this again and again, it’s a story like this that hammers it home in a very real way. It’s a cruel lesson to learn while still in your youth, doing nothing more than what most of the adult population is doing behind closed doors, but because you were caught on camera and that video was shared not only among your peers, but also was leaked out for the world to see, your private life is no longer private. Your life, your world forever changes. You find out very quickly who your friends are, whom you can trust, and where you can and cannot hide.

Yes, the internet lasts forever, this is a hard lesson to learn for any youth, but even more so when it wasn’t your choice to make. Violet made a mistake, one she has been running from since her senior year of high school. It isn’t until her grandmother, the woman who raised her, needs her back home. The one place she hasn’t returned to since she graduated, that Violet faces some of those dark ghosts. She has been able to outrun a lot of her past through various means, but returning to a small town where she grew up and people will recognize her is agonizingly tough.

Easton Cole grew up on the wrong side of town, and once his father picked up and abandoned their family, Easton made a promise never to be like him. Staying close to his mother and sister and building a successful business Easton is a far cry from the boy who grew up in poverty. He always had a crush on Violet, long before her fall from grace, so when she arrives back in town looking lost and alone, he remembers all too well that feeling, the looks he and his family received when standing in the welfare lines, and decides to extend a friendship branch.

It isn’t long before Violet and Easton develop into something more, but will it be enough to extend beyond the time Violet is in town taking care of her grandmother? She’s been gone for almost a decade and Violet never expected to be back home for more than a short time, she also never expected someone like Easton in her life either. He makes being back home feel comfortable, but she also knows it’s a facade. It would be so easy to stay and let him take care of her, it would also be so easy to run once again and forget being with him ever happened. At least she keeps telling herself that. How does she return to normal when she’s torn in two?
