Panty melting hotness mixed with giggle out loud laughter. The Best Men combined the best of both worlds which made for utterly divine reading.

The powerhouse duo of Blakely and Bowen absolutely blew the roof off this book!! From beginning to end I couldn’t put the story down. Yes, this book was hot, pure molten lava fire HOT! But, these boys, sorry men, were also flushed out, well developed and supremely well written that I was right there living every moment with them. I was completely immersed in their world and never wanted to leave.

Mark Banks is a single, divorced father. He works on Wall Street in a high pressure job and he’s the main caregiver to his 6 year old daughter. It doesn’t leave a lot of time or basically any time for dating or relieving the stress of his life. He’s not bitter about where he is in life, per say, he just never thought he’d be single with his only companion being his hand late at night dreaming of wicked fantasies he’d one day like to have that didn’t involve just his palm and five digits as dates. When Mark meets Asher St. James, a man who exemplifies the single bachelorhood lifestyle, Mark instantly and outwardly loathes him, but also inwardly he wants to mount him and introduce him to his late night activities. It’s very confusing to his steady late night date.

Asher is a fun, former athlete – now professional photographer. His smooth personality wins everyone over, everyone except Mark Banks. Basically Asher’s that guy that everyone in the room likes and he can’t understand why Mark Banks doesn’t seem to like him. Asher shouldn’t take it personally, it really isn’t him per say. Well, it sort of isn’t him. Asher isn’t used to flirting with straight men, but is Mark straight? All signs of his divorce and six year old daughter would say yes, but the very confusing things Mark says to Asher would say otherwise. Winning With Him takes us from spring training where these two fell in love and spans over five years with so many touching moments and moments that will rip your heart out. Scoring With Him is filled with Blakely’s signature style, but completely leveled up with all the angst. We are talking a hot, sports romance with ALL the feels and a huge cliffy!!

Blakely has written an MM sports romance where the fictional world is inclusive and gay sports players are living out and proud. I love this suspension of disbelief, it brings a brighter feeling to the overall book and shuffles past a lot of the problems we currently live in. However, she also drops in very real issues that would still arise such as the only two gay men hanging out and a fellow team member noticing. Even if they were only hanging out as friends, that inner feeling of “do they think we are a couple, just because we are gay?”. It was a perfect blend of fiction meeting the real world that gave this book the right amount of angst.

Due to the fact that Declan and Grant play for the same team, there are very distinct issues that normal couples would never come across. These men play a sport at a very high level that a very low percentage of people would never achieve or even think about. With the salaries they are paid Declan and Grant are expected to always perform at their best. Messing up on the field or not having their head in the game and creating conflict within their own team just isn’t something that can happen, ever. But how do you tell that to your heart when the man of your dreams is literally right in front of you?

Declan is the seasoned player and Grant is the incoming rookie. Both men are known to be highly dedicated and neither have been in a relationship during a baseball season. However, they have an instant connection, a friendship that blossoms first, before their chemistry cannot be contained, but given how dedicated they are, rules are put into place and an end date is given, but will they be able to stick to it when it finally comes?

There is a big cliffhanger that will pick up in the next book and with years separating the storylines, but with this tale, Scoring With Him is full of emotions, heat, and our favorite American pastime – baseball.

A slow burn, with Blakely’s witty charm blended into this friends to lovers romance.

I will admit this was not my favorite Blakely book, it still held a lot of the elements I love reading in her books. The chemistry between Crosby and Nadia was off the charts, whether it was in or out of the bedroom this couple had it in spades. What didn’t hold my specific attention was some of the in between moments spent with the secondary characters. It wasn’t all of the time, but some of the time. I see great potential for spin offs, which is what I love about any secondary character, but this is just my opinion on this particular book.

Aside from that, I absolutely adored any time Nadia and Crosby were together. They were engaging, swoony, funny, all the things I love to see in Blakely’s characters. While this was a slow burn to the final ignition, they lit the fuse early in how they got there and watching the final countdown was rather exciting.

Crosby has called off dating all women and even though Nadia has been a friend since they were early teens, he never really considered her as more. Perhaps its because he’s always dated the wrong women and now that he’s detoxing he’s finally seeing her clearly. While he’s on the wagon it seems like the wrong time to start anything with Nadia, but it may also be the most perfect time ever.

Nadia is taking a break trying to find a good man to date. She’s never really had any luck…well ever. She’s still fully intact of her V card, but now that Crosby is giving her all of the perfect signals, it could be the perfect time to finally punch that card.

A 4.5 star read overall for all of the steamy, friendship, and worthy moments that fill the pages.

OMG! This was sweet and sexy and full of more emotions than I was expecting! Lauren and Lili what are you doing to me!?!
