Review/Synopsis:

Review:
What a delicious tangled web of storytelling!!

The Park family tree is ka-ra-zzzzie and I love how tangled up it continues to get! I should know better than to go into one of Webster’s books with expectations because she always goes left when I think she will go right and I love those mind blowing moments. The Tangle of Awful was nothing like I expected and it was everything better than I could have wanted!!

There is a ton of tension between Spencer and Aubrey and also with Hugo and Aubrey. She is torn between both Park men in completely different ways. Spencer Park is Aubrey’s stepbrother and he’s a total jerk, in the best ways ;). Hugo Park is Aubrey’s stepfather and he’s the caring adult in her life that she’s never really had. As each relationship develops they are totally different and I loved how they were independent from each other, even though each Park man was with the same woman.

Aubrey hasn’t really had stability in her life, except for a few years that she lived with the Parks when she was younger. She moved away, but after her father kicks her out and she has no where else to go she heads back to the one place she’d felt safe, the Parks. Aside from navigating her new relationships with the men in her life, it isn’t the mess of her heart that has her doubting moving back, mysterious things are happening and she refuses to let her family get hurt because she appears to be cursed with an awful life.

Synopsis:
From USA Today Bestselling Author K Webster comes a new steamy age-gap, enemies-to-lovers “why choose” forbidden romance!

He’s a successful attorney with a secret craving for his too-young stepdaughter.
He wants her badly. But his wicked son wants her too…

Love is an illusion.
In my world, collecting the shiniest trophies is what I do.
Beautiful wife. Swanky home. Expensive cars. Successful firm. Future attorney general.
Add in the Park family name and I’m the envy of every man in town.
True love, however, was never attainable, no matter how much I secretly wanted it.

The desire to be loved isn’t my only secret.
My wife is missing.
With my life under scrutiny as I run for office, I’m finding it difficult to lie away her whereabouts. People are starting to notice. My political opponent. Her best friend. And worst of all, my wife’s daughter, Aubrey.

Aubrey is finally back home after two long years with her dad, but she’s asking questions I don’t have answers to. Yet, that’s not all she’s doing…
She’s invading my thoughts and my heart, driving me insane with her beauty and vulnerability.

I want her.
She’s barely legal and my wife’s daughter.
Forbidden and morally wrong.
I can’t have her. I can’t.

My son, though, doesn’t live by the same code I do.
He wants her too.
But not to love…to destroy.

I’ll risk everything to keep him from her.
Even if this tangle of awful costs me my reputation, my campaign, and my son.

***This is a complete mfm standalone novel with a happily ever after. Characters are of legal age and there is no romantic involvement between blood relations. ***

FREE with Kindle Unlimited!

Everyone has secrets. I’ve kept some big ones from my two best friends, and I know they’ve got a few of their own. After all, Embry and Adam never told me why they stopped talking to each other the night we graduated college. For my part, I’ve never told them that I’m bi—or that I’ve been in love with both of them for years. I’m also definitely not telling them I’ve mismanaged my family’s tree farm so badly that it’s about to go out of business right before Christmas.

But when I crash off a ladder hanging up holiday lights and break my wrist, they come running like Santa’s elves. They’re both very grumpy about seeing each other again, but I can’t be sorry to finally have an excuse to get them in the same place. Wait until they find out we’re all sleeping in one bed…

At least their feud is put on hold when they discover what a mess I’ve made of my business. Soon the three of us are scrambling to pull off a Christmas miracle and save the farm. And maybe it’s the magic of the holidays, but a whole lot of feelings and long-buried truths are coming to the surface—and our friendship is starting to become something much bigger.

Will we survive the season? Or are all my dreams about to be crushed this Christmas?

ILYBSM is a sweet and steamy contemporary holiday m/m/m polyamorous romance about three former best friends. It stars Jeb, a sweetly oblivious farmer who’s the hottest mess to ever grow trees in Vermont; Embry, a mechanic who can fix any engine but not a relationship; and Adam, a graphic designer and organizational whiz who irons his sheets. It features truths that slip out thanks to homemade eggnog, a demon goat who looks fabulous in a Santa hat, and an unconventional happy ever after.

Blog Tour – The Frat Boy by Nikki Sloane

The Frat Boy by Nikki Sloane is now live!

He’s majoring in your desires

Colin Novak is the big man on campus. Huge—if the rumors are to be believed.  Nearly every girl at Davidson University has had a ride on him . . . everyone, except me.

Which is fine. This frat boy may be irritatingly hot, all carved muscle with a deceptively wholesome smile, but that’s irrelevant. He’s a Sig.

When I catch his fraternity cheating at the Greek Week tournament, he denies it–causing our rivalry between houses to escalate. Colin and I may have started the mud fight, but it grows into an all-out war, and ends with us expelled from our houses.

Now I’m homeless and it’s all his fault.

So, while answering an ad for a leading role at an adult film company wasn’t part of my career path, the work comes with a lot of perks. Steady salary. Accommodations close to campus. A safe place to explore my fantasies.

Except when I show up for my audition, my partner is none other than my new archenemy—Colin. And our sexual chemistry is explosive.

We hate how attracted we are to each other, and I despise that I want every scene to be with him. Because the longer we live together, the more I see he’s not who I thought he was.
This frat boy was so easy to hate . . . but what if he’s even easier to love?

Review/Synopsis:

Review:
High steam, super sweet, best friends to lovers, holiday romance.

Jeb is one of the cutest, most adorable male characters I’ve read in awhile. He has this wholesome, naive, freshness about him that made him extremely likeable. Although I suppose, therein was the problem…if you want to call it that. Jeb was stuck in the middle of a feud between his best friends, Adam and Emery. Neither Adam nor Emery wanted to give up their friendship with Jeb because he truly is the nicest guy you ever would meet, but being stubborn as all get out, neither guy wanted to know about their existing friendship with Jeb because they are still bitter about something that blew up in their own past. It’s complicated and pretty much gives Jeb an ulcer every time they visit. Sound the alert!! Both Adam and Emery are headed Jeb’s way, but this time Jeb plans to fix what is broken.

You see, Jeb is the glue that holds their friendship together. That is very clear through the entire book. His sweet disposition is hard not to like, but the other two, while stubborn, okay, they also have great qualities, especially once we get past their….well, pasts. But back to sweet Jebbie…he might be more than just glue that holds the three of them together and holy hotness….Jeb, Adam, and Emery all coming together – wink, wink – is seriously hot!!

ILYBSM is sweet, super, super steamy, and filled with a bit of small town holiday magic that made this book a total joy to read. I loved slipping back and forth between the characters, the text messages, the past and present, meeting all of the colorful characters, and even the crazy goat made this entire story entertaining.

Now, I can I talk more about Jeb…..LOL😍

Review:
OMG!! Hottest book I’ve ever read…EVER!! Even better, this book has a ton of emotion and a great plot as well. Saying I loved it doesn’t seem to do it justice, but WOW, did I LOOOOOVVVVVEEEE IT!!!!!

There is a lot that leads up to Colin and Madison living in the same house together, but it’s not just a campus house, or an apartment, or even a close proximity that drives their story. Colin and Madison, who are enemies due to all of the circumstances that lead to their homelessness, find their new rooms while working for an adult film company. This storyline is so HAWT I can’t even begin to describe the level of volcanic hotness in this review!!!!! Even more amazing, than my kindle starting on fire, is the emotion Colin and Madison brought to the page. Their story was engaging even aside from the mind blowing naked times. Their vulnerability, their raw nakedness, and I’m not talking about their lack of clothes, it all shines through and what made this book so fantastic.

The entire Nashville Neighborhood series has had all of the best taboo tropes, but this book blew everyone else away. Aside from having MM on the page, everything other combination hit this book, and I do mean everything else. Every situation is explosive and the chemistry between- well, everyone- will warm you up during this cold winter.

Chapter One

Rome wouldn’t burn again if he could help it.

Antonio Starabba slid into his desk chair with a sigh. He would have stifled the sigh if there’d been anyone else in the room besides his husband and wife. Karl was working, papers spread out on the low table in the center of the small seating area. Leila was occupied with something less casual. She was disassembling and reassembling a sniper rifle with alarming quickness.

Antonio wasn’t one for guns, but his wife was sexy in a very dangerous way while holding a large gun. No one but himself and Karl ever got to see her with it, since on those occasions that she reactivated her expertise as a sniper, her targets never saw her.

“You don’t have to stay,” Antonio said in Italian. His spouses were now fluent in the language of Antonio’s home territory.

“Do you want us to leave?” Karl didn’t look up.

“Never.”

“Then we’ll stay for quiet moral support.”

“I’m not going to be quiet.” Leila smiled. “I’ll keep practicing. One of them might recognize the sound.”

“Is it a good idea to threaten the fleet admiral?” Now Karl did look up.

“I’m not threatening him.” There was a sinister clack as she popped a piece into place. “This is for those morons in Castile.”

Antonio grunted his agreement with that statement even as he turned on his computer. It would take a few minutes for the secure video chat to come online.

“How’s Milo?” Karl asked.

Asking about Milo Moretti wasn’t the subject jump it might have seemed. Milo’s wife was the flashpoint for their current crisis, through no fault of her own. Several months ago, Dr. Talya Maes had been kidnapped by the mafia. She’d been held prisoner alongside human trafficking victims, but she’d been taken to help the Camorra with a very different sort of crime. They’d wanted Talya to create a bio-weapon. A drug that would turn people into caution-less super soldiers.

The entire Talya situation had been a mess from beginning to end. First because despite the fact that Talya was a member of the Masters’ Admiralty, Europe’s oldest still-functioning secret society, no one had noticed she’d gone missing. The society was divided geographically into nine territories, whose borders were based on maps and empires far older than modern Europe. It just so happened that Talya had lived along one of the borders, which cut through modern-day Belgium, and each territory thought she was a member of the other.

Antonio had publicly expressed disapproval with the admirals of France and Germany for failing Talya, but secretly he felt sorry for them. Being the head of a territory wasn’t easy, or fun. Antonio had never wanted to be a territory leader. Never wanted to be admiral of Rome, which encompassed Italy, all the coastline of the Adriatic sea, and the major islands in the Mediterranean. However, that was exactly what he’d become after his father, the previous admiral had been severely wounded in a bombing. Antonio had been named acting admiral while his father recovered, and eventually his father had stepped down. Antonio had expected his father to resume the admiralship, but his father’s long recovery, coupled with his pride at seeing Antonio holding the position of admiral, had pushed him to retire.

The position of admiral of Rome should have gone to his sister, Sophia. Instead she was now living in England, both the territory and the modern-day country, and married to two good men, including England’s admiral. She would have made a brilliant admiral if fate, and the previous fleet admiral, hadn’t intervened. But her leadership and skills hadn’t been wasted. When the current fleet admiral, Eric Ericsson, whom Antonio was about to meet with, had taken an unplanned, unsanctioned vacation, Sophia was the one he’d left in charge. Sophia, who’d been taught to lead, negotiate, and manipulate since she could talk, was also the lead on building a relationship with the Americans, but that was a separate issue.

Talya Maes’ months of imprisonment by the Camorra ended when a Spanish member was also kidnapped, and one of Antonio’s security officers, Milo Moretti, helped orchestrate her rescue. Milo had seen Talya during that op and vowed to return to free her even before anyone knew that she was a member of the Masters’ Admiralty.

And if the rescue had been the end of Talya, Milo, and Henri’s story, Antonio wouldn’t be having this meeting.

His computer dinged, signaling that the meeting was connecting.

“Hold on, let me get back to the part that makes the scary noise,” Leila muttered, quickly disassembling the long rifle.

“You’re terrifying sometimes.” Karl murmured, still engrossed in his work.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, geliefde.”

Antonio smiled at his spouses, but quickly blanked his expression as his camera turned on.

Three video windows appeared, including his own. In the first, two men sat side by side in a dim concrete room. From the intel Antonio had on Castile-–the territory that contained modern-day Spain and Portugal–-Antonio assumed they were calling from the bunker-like ops headquarters in the basement of one of the territory-owned buildings.

Admiral Santiago De Leon was older and, while fairly new in his position, he was a powerful admiral. The man beside him, Vicente Coval, was also powerful, but in a dark, deadly way that befit a security minister. Each territory was ruled by three people, with the admiral as the main power. However, an admiral could be overruled by his vice admiral and security minister. The trinity checks and balances system was meant to stop any one admiral from abusing their power, though as Hungary could attest to, that didn’t always work.

The leadership was a trinity, as were the relationships among members. The defining characteristic of the Masters’ Admiralty was arranged marriages between three people. Antonio had grown up in the society and, to him, the idea of a relationship with just two people felt…unbalanced and odd.

The third window held the fourth attendee of this meeting. The fleet admiral was the leader of the society. Not part of any territory, the fleet admiral’s power was checked not by a trinity leadership model, but by the nine territory admirals.

Antonio examined Eric and acknowledged to himself that if the time ever came that they needed to move against the fleet admiral, he’d have Leila shoot him from a distance.

For a moment there was heavy silence, then Eric spoke.

“I was going to sing.”

Antonio sighed to himself, Leila smothered a snort, and Karl looked up, his glasses making him look ridiculously sexy.

“Sing, Fleet Admiral?” Santiago asked with a quick smile.

“Have you seen The Sound of Music? Remember that ‘problem like Maria’ song?” They’d been speaking French, but he switched to English. “I was going to make it ‘problem like Rodrigo’ but I couldn’t get the verses to fit. Hard to rhyme stuff with mafia.”

“The Camorra,” Antonio said. “Not just the mafia.”

Eric leaned back in his chair, seeming to consider. “No, I don’t think that makes the rhyming easier. English is a ridiculous language.”

That they could all agree on, since both Castellano and Italian were clearly superior. Antonio wasn’t sure about Eric’s native Danish, but Leila said it was a beautiful language.

“Rodrigo is not a problem,” Vicente said, cutting through the light moment.

“Yes, he is,” Antonio countered. “He’s clearly defected. Understandable, but not an excuse.”

During the prep to save Talya, it was discovered that Rodrigo was the secret son of a Camorra don. That same don was holding Talya Maes, so Rodrigo had been sent in to the mafia–it could hardly be called undercover since it was his real identity–to rescue her. Talya was safe, finally, but Rodrigo had refused to back out.

Antonio felt sympathy for the man, but it didn’t change the facts. “He’s given up his–”

“He’s given up nothing. He is still one of us. Still loyal,” Vicente insisted.

Antonio understood the other man’s stout defense. As security minister of Castile, Vicente was the leader of that territory’s security officers. While law and order within the society was overseen by the knights, headed by the vice admiral, the quiet, dangerous work was the purview of the security officers. Antonio had been a security officer before being forced into the position of admiral. And Rodrigo, the subject of today’s meeting, was…had been…a security officer for Castile.

“He kidnapped…re-kidnapped…Dr. Maes,” Antonio said. “His job was to rescue her, which he did, and he should have stopped there.”

“She came to no harm,” Vicente countered. “If you’d spoken to Talya, as I have, you would know that Rodrigo didn’t hurt her.”

“I have spoken to Dr. Maes, as she is now a member of my territory, and married to one of my security officers.”

Milo was more than just a security officer. Milo was Antonio’s friend, but he wouldn’t disclose anything so personal in this venue.

“If you object to the burning of your territory, that was your man, not Rodrigo.”

After Rodrigo kidnapped Dr. Maes, Milo and Henri Fortin had chased him across France and Italy. As they pursued, they waged a small war. Billionaire Henri had attacked the Camorra on paper, buying up companies and taking control of ports they used. Milo had been more direct–he’d set fire to every Camorra property he could find. Privately, Antonio had asked Milo what the fuck he’d been thinking, as all that property damage was risky and drew attention. Milo had replied that Antonio should be grateful he’d chosen fire and not C4.

“Did you fiddle?” Eric asked.

Antonio’s eye twitched. That joke was getting old, even if he himself had been thinking something along those lines. “I’m no Nero, and this isn’t about the fires. It’s about Rodrigo. He’s his father’s son.”

“No,” Vicente insisted. “He never hurt Talya. And his plan worked. The Camorra think her drug isn’t viable. The kidnapping is regrettable, but there was no lasting harm from it.”

Leila and Karl both stiffened. It was slight, but Antonio caught it. They’d both been taken by a serial killer. Kidnapped and tortured, they no longer had nightmares, but what had happened would always be a part of them.

“If you believe that, then I pity your wife,” Antonio snarled. Gabriella, the Spanish heiress whose kidnapping had exposed Talya’s captivity, was Vicente’s spouse.

Vicente’s expression, already cold, froze.

“Antonio,” Eric warned.

“If he’s ignoring how his wife suffered–”

“Do not speak about my wife.”

“–then she deserves better.”

“Admiral Starabba,” Eric barked. “Stop.”

Strangely, Vicente seemed to have calmed with Antonio’s final words. “She does deserve better,” he said. “Both of my spouses do.”

“No more talking about anyone’s wives,” Eric declared.

Leila snapped two pieces of the rifle together, the noise loud and sharp.

Vicente’s eyes narrowed. He clearly recognized that sound.

On screen, Eric put his elbows on his desk and his head in his hands. “Hej, Leila.”

“Hej flådeadmiral,” she called out.

“I thought this meeting was private.” Santiago raised a brow.

“They’re here because Leila is the one who saw the article,” Antonio said.

There was silence before Eric lifted his head from his hands. “Okay, I’ll bite. What article?”

Antonio grabbed his mouse. “I told you that Rodrigo is lost to us. He belongs to the Camorra.”

“No,” Vicente insisted. “There’s a reason he’s still undercover. He is a good operative, and we need to trust him.”

Abruptly tired, Antonio shared his screen, showing everyone else the newspaper article Leila had seen. Antonio half expected that maybe Vicente already knew about it. It would make sense for him to have alerts set up to notify him of any mention of Rodrigo. But then again, he probably had alerts set up to notify him when police reports or crime information with Rodrigo’s name appeared.

He probably didn’t have an alert set up for the society pages.

“What am I looking at?” Eric said.

Antonio opened a second document, which had the small announcement translated into both French and English.

“Oh shit.” Eric sat back. “Rodrigo is getting married?”

“Rodrigo is getting married,” Antonio confirmed. “To a mafia princess.”

Review – Danger’s Heir by Mari Carr and Lila Dubois

Danger's Heir (Masters' Admiralty #9: Mafia #3)

Danger’s Heir; Masters’ Admiralty #9
(#9 within a series)

Publication Date: November 1, 2022

Genre/Tropes: Menage/Suspense/Mafia/Secret Society/Arranged Marriage Romance

Author: Mari Carr and Lila Dubois

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:
Great chemistry, and suspense right out of the gate! The physical chemistry, between the ménage, just sparked and then the intense storyline…this was a great story!

Rodrigo was immersed in his father’s world, a world that twisted his gut and repulsed him daily, but he also knew he was the only one to get close enough to eventually shut it down. However, because he was undercover, his contacts on the outside didn’t know if he’d turned and because of that the MA send in Casson to pull him out.

When Casson gets there and he hears Rodrigo’s side he stays, as Casson’s bodyguard, meeting his newly arranged fiancée – Giada, and it didn’t take long for these three to practically light my kindle on fire.

Working together, was heaven, but also torture, because both Casson and Rodrigo were keeping a lot of secrets from one another. While they were all developing feelings and really wished they’d have a happy ending, the only ending was without the woman they both wanted.

A truly exciting and, at times, heartbreaking addition to the Master’s Admiralty series. I loved how spirited Giada was. She never backed down and owned her powerful thinking and determination while living in a male dominated world. A perfect woman for Rodrigo and Casson.

Cover Reveal - 2022, New Releases

Cover Reveal – The Frat Boy by Nikki Sloane

Nikki Sloane has revealed the cover for The Frat Boy!

Releasing: December 6, 2022

Cover Designer: Nikki Sloane

Photographer: Nick Lawrence

Colin Novak is the big man on campus. Huge—if the rumors are to be believed. Nearly every girl at Davidson University has had a ride on him . . . everyone, except me.

Which is fine. This frat boy may be irritatingly hot, all carved muscle with a deceptively wholesome smile, but that’s irrelevant. He’s a Sig.

When I catch his fraternity cheating at the Greek Week tournament, he denies it—causing our rivalry between houses to escalate.

Review – Defy by Caitlyn Dare

Book cover for Defy: A MFM Romance by Caitlyn Dare

Defy; Red Ridge Sinners MC
(A standalone within a series)

Publication Date: August 4, 2022

Genre/Tropes: New Adult/MFM/MC Romance

Author: Caitlyn Dare

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:
Kat is a wild child and I’ve always loved her for her wild spirit. She is the girl you want to be friends with because she always brings the party, but Defy sheds a light into her out of control behavior and it was much more of an emotional ride than I was expecting. Plus, her mysterious lover is revealed and sorry past BBF’s, but Ryder has vaulted over and taken the number one spot.

While Kat always appears to the outside world that she has her life together and is the life of the party, her facade is only because she’s masking the pain and loneliness of her life falling apart day by day. While it appears that everyone is falling in love around her, thus leaving her behind in the dust and her mom is fading away with a debilitating disease right before her eyes, Kat has never felt more alone. (The wild child of the three and by far the glue that holds them all together)

Ryder is one of the few people who notices the mask she wears, as he has a similar situation at home. Offering up his friendship, which soon turns to more, he never meant to fall for her, especially when his best friend has been waiting to make a move for months, but some things just can’t be helped, especially when it comes to his Kitten. (He is fun, a total dirty talker, doesn’t take life too seriously, but also the caretaker, which made him the perfect fit for this triad)

Styx has been patiently waiting for the right time to make Kat his, but nothing ever seems to go his way. However, when he finds out that his best friend, Ryder, has been spending time with his girl it pushes him to go after her, but what she’s wanting, what she suggests, he’s not sure he can give. (He is focused, intense, straightlaced, and a total rule follower…most of the time)

Defy is definitely full of hot men and lots of spicy good times, but unlike some of the other MC books in this series that are packed with suspense and bad guys, this particular book is full of emotional punches and lots of tears. I really enjoyed the different mix with this story, especially knowing Kat from previous books and that she was going to need special guys by her side with her particular journey.

Defy is a standalone in the Red Ridge Sinners series, but enjoyed more when read right along with the other books.

Synopsis:
A new MFM dark romance from the bestselling author of the Savage Falls MC series.

I always knew that once we caved to our desire that it would change everything.

He’s forbidden.

My brother’s ex-best friend.

And his masked accomplice is still a mystery to me.

But while I might try to do the right thing, they seem to have other ideas.

And as has already been proven, my restraint is only so good around them.

Fearless; The Privileged of Pembroke #5
(#2 within a duet, #5 within a series)

Publication Date: August 27, 2021

Genre/Tropes: Ménage/New Adult/Friends-to-Lovers/Enemies-to-Lovers Romance

Author: Ivy Fox

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

Staying up late to read Fearless was sooooo worth it!! The angst, the emotion, the steamy love triangle…this book has all the feels.

Fearless is exactly what a love triangle/ménage should tackle when it comes to the deep soulful emotions, twisted up feelings, and gut wrenching angst. So often a throuple jumps into a relationship and it’s happy from the get go. I understand throwing out reality and it’s a fiction world, but there is no relationship, no matter the amount of people that are in it that is super easy, so I love that Ivy tackled the heart of every relationship, especially one that involves multiple personalities.

Elle, Chad, and Saint all revolve around each other and have for years. Elle and Chad have been friends since kindergarten, while Chad and Saint developed a relationship later on. While it was originally Chad that was the glue between the three of them, not only being attracted to both, but also forcing the three of them to hang out, things changed and evolved, like teenage hormones do. Elle and Saint couldn’t stand one another sensing the other as competition for Chad’s affection, but as we come into Fearless that all comes to a head as they make Chad decide, choose one of them because they no longer want to share. When Chad can’t and won’t, Saint and Elle turn towards each other both in heartbreak and comfort and their once rivalry turns into something a lot more like love, but did they really make the right choice in cutting out part of their threesome?

It’s crazy how close hate and love walk that fine line, but Saint and Elle find out just how much they have in common while Chad slowly falls apart. Even while this couple grows together, which I LOVED how much Saint grew as a character, having a part of their original throuple gone gnaws at both of them and neither of them know how to get back what they had before everything fell apart.

Chad delves into some deep, dark places inside himself. He’s never been without Elle as his best friend. The growth he goes through, learning who Chad is without his sidekick, without someone to take care of, even without Saint to feel like he needs to correct all the time. Chad pulls out the version of himself that actually was buried deep and it’s one that the three of them needed more than they ever realized.

Elle goes through more ups and downs than anyone in this book, however, she’s probably the strongest person out of them to handle it and survive it, but she loves that she has support to lean on when the going gets tough. No matter what age she is, one of her guys was by her side to hold her hand or hold her tight, right when she needed it, but Elle was always strong enough to set things right and that is why this ménage works so well.

Lastly, Saint. Although, I would never put Saint last. He was pretty much everything in this book. His character growth was through the roof. He was sweet when needed, yet domineering when he had to be. He was caring and thoughtful, but his outside shell still screamed thug to those who didn’t know him. He was becoming the glue, that connecting middle piece, and Saint was everything Elle and Chad needed to complete their lives.

The intimate moments are crazy hot, no matter who is involved, but while they are also steamy, they also crack open emotional moments too. Nothing happens without purpose.

Since the Pembroke world is all interconnected the Grayson brothers are also dealing with their own chaos during this book, but Elle’s story is written in a way that it’s a complete standalone from her brothers. I will also say the same thing about Maya’s story. Everyone connects at some point in time, but don’t worry if you aren’t caught up yet, it will all make sense when you eventually read those books.

Synopsis:

Whoever said when life hands you lemons to make lemonade can suck it!
Everything is falling apart.
Rome is in jail for murdering our father.
Holland is in the hospital fighting for her life.
And I haven’t spoken to my best friend in God knows how long.
Oh, but it gets worse.
I’ve fallen in love with my nemesis, too.
It might not seem like a big deal to most, but it sure is to me.
Especially since my heart still longs for the green-eyed boy, I vowed to love for eternity.
But I’m not the only one suffering.
Saint is too.
I feel his misery in every kiss he gives me, in every caress and embrace.
We’re not whole.
Not as long as we don’t have him.
If I want to heal all three broken hearts, there is only one way to go about it.
And that is to be fearless enough to fight for our happy ending.
They’re both mine, and I won’t let either of them go without a fight.

*Fearless is the last book in the duet focusing on Elle Grayson’s love triangle in The Privileged of Pembroke High series.
*This is a bully/enemy-to-lovers, friends to lovers, contemporary romance, full-length novel.
*Recommended 18+ due to mature language, sensitive content and adult situations featuring m/f, m/m, m/f/m.

What We May Be
(A standalone)

Publication Date: August 16, 2021

Genre/Tropes: Second Chance/MMF-Menage/Thriller/Crime-Mystery Romance

Author: Layla Reyne

Review Rating: 5 Gold Stars

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

I love cross-genre reading, especially cross-genre reading that is done well. What We May Be is a crime mystery, MMF romance that kept me on the edge of my seat and completely blew my mind on the twist of an ending. A total, “I did not see that coming”, flew out of my mouth which makes the best mystery books. Add in the sensual side of this already great plot and I was a total goner.

Trevor, Sean, and Charlotte live in a small, university town and while they all fell in love with one another back in college, Sean left shortly after devastating the other two. Trevor and Charlie remained best friends, but never took their relationship to the love affair it was without Sean in the mix. Sean now returns after a  decade gone to consult on a current murder case, but he only plans to stay in town for as long as the case takes. Trevor and Charlie are willing to have his help as long as it takes to catch the killer, but they can’t take the hurt of him leaving again. Lines are drawn, but slowly erased as things heat up both in the case and the past is revealed, but could it be too late to save what they could have had?

Every layer unfolds in the best thriller kind of way. Solving the case takes everyone’s talents and with a killer on the loose no one appears to be safe. I loved all the twisty bends and details added to make this suspenseful and emotional all at the same time.

Waaaaaay back in the day I was a mystery fanatic and this brought me back to a time when I devoured that genre, but those didn’t contain the romance aspect I am addicted to now. What We May Be contained both of those ingredients along with lots of tropes I really love in the reading world. This book is an excellent read, especially if you love reading thrilling books with spicy love scenes splashed in every so often.

Synopsis:

What we were…

Sean found love once, with his college roommate, Trevor, and Trevor’s best friend, Charlotte.
The missing piece, Sean made it possible for Trevor and Charlotte to find love too.
But then Sean left and took the love with him.

What we are…

Now an FBI agent, Sean is back in town, ten years later, to investigate a murder.
A case that pits him against his ex-lovers—Charlotte, a local detective, and Trevor, a literature professor sucked into the Shakespearean mystery.
Everyone guards their hearts, but before long, desire sparks anew the feelings that burned hot a decade ago.
That still burn true.

What we may be…

Love is within their grasp again, but as the killer escalates, it’s more than just their hearts and futures on the line.
Sean, Charlotte, and Trevor will need to work together to solve the case.
If they can’t, lives will be lost and pieces of their love gone for good.

Review:
This is a second chance at love story, with very real feelings attached to a MMF triangle.

Twenty years ago Nolan was at the center of two potential love interests. The crazy thing about it is those interests are between two best friends who happen to be Liam and Charlotte. Liam is very openly gay and Charlotte is on the plus size for girls. Both received their share of bullying in school and instantly took to each other in an instant kinship. They have been friends for over thirty years and nothing could get between them, well almost nothing except Nolan.

When they were high school seniors Nolan had a brief affair with Liam and also with Charlotte. Torn between the two and never wanting to choose between them or wanting them to break up a friendship he left, but after twenty years he’s back in town. Could they all make amends? Could they all be more?

When Nolan first returns, all three of them didn’t want to hurt the other and were willing to set aside a potential forever to give their friend a shot. It’s a sweet angst for them to eventually get what they want and a wonderful friendship at the heart of what they all desire.

I love the friendship between Liam and Charlotte and how selfless they both are to each other. The steamy times between the two men are hot, but then when all three of them come together it’s time to turn up the air conditioning because it’s FIRE!

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

The best outcome in triads lately, at least for me, come down to the right mix of steamy and practicality. I love when the throuple takes their time to talk about what they are jumping into and the ramifications of it before people start getting hurt. Don’t get me wrong, I love lusty times as much as the next person, but I also appreciate the careful consideration and respect that goes into the thought process of this kind of relationship just like a couple would. The depth of the characters and meaning behind the story goes a long way towards wrapping around my heart when the author takes the time, plus, the steamy intimate moments are that much better!! So thank you Carrie Ann, Captured in Ink is the best of both worlds.

Ronin and Julia are already married when Ronin’s old flame comes back into his life. Once part of a triad before he was married Ronin knows they aren’t exactly easy and Julia is now the center of his world he doesn’t want to do anything that will screw that up. However, adding a third to their marriage is something they have been discussing and having Kincaid walk back into Ronin’s life opens more possibility to making that possibility a reality. First things first, Ronin and Kincaid have to work through their past heartache before they jump into anything that could ruin what Ronin and Julia have in their stable marriage. What could this mean for the triad if they travel down this path? Happiness or destruction?

EXCERPT

Jeremy pulled off his coat and slid his arms around Lydia, burying his nose in her neck. The strange sense of being perched on the edge of the world, obscured in white and disconnected from everything abated with each breath, the tick-tock of the mantel clock tracking a different kind of time.
“You’re wet!” Lydia squealed. “And stubbly!”
He didn’t stop. Her squirming turned to a tense freeze, then a slow melt in his arms. She stayed in place, he knew, because she sensed his need.
That was love. Real love.
Mike walked into Jeremy’s line of vision, carrying two open beers, one ready to hand to Jeremy. Ice-blue eyes met his, powerful and knowing. Something deeper than relief took over Jeremy’s cells as he stood there, Lydia touching him, Mike in the same frame, too.
His people. He had his people. That’s all he really needed.
“Hey,” Lydia said softly in his ear. “What’s wrong?”
Jeremy shook his head and just inhaled deeply. The change of plans was welcome. Christmas had come early to the small campground in Maine. He cradled Lydia’s face in his hands and kissed her, the taste of her tongue a tether, holding him in place, keeping him from tipping over the edge and into the pale, snowy abyss.
As the kiss deepened, he felt Mike’s hand on his shoulder, heard the cackle of Madge’s ribald comment, smelled the heady scent of burning wood.
And he was home.
Really home.

SYNOPSIS

Former heiress Ashe Pembroke can’t believe her life has turned into a freaking cliché, a modern day Cinderella living under the thumb of her ruthless stepmother, hated by her perfect stepsister, and treated as a servant in her own home. Then on her worst day ever, she meets Sebastian Bradford, a handsome prince charming if ever she’s seen one. Their chemistry is hot and instant. But imagine her surprise when he brings along his hunky spec ops lover, Elijah, who issues panty-melting orders in a deep voice like smooth cut velvet. Suddenly her life—and she—is turned upside down in ways she never, ever dreamed of!

The sex is ridiculous. Exciting and…well, just plain mindblowing. The two men are clearly madly in love with each other, and it’s rubbing off on her in all the best ways. They treat her like royalty, and cater to her every sexual fantasy while indulging in a few of their own. As she gets to know Sebastian and Elijah, she finally understands the power of true love, and begins to fight for her freedom. She desperately wants to accept the unique life they are offering her. But is it really possible to fall in love with more than one person at the same time, and together have a happily ever after?

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

An erotic take on the Cinderella story with a menage twist. Ashe, Elijah, and Sebastian bring this old fairytale to life in a new way.

Elijah and Bastian are long time lovers who occasionally participate in MMF, MFM or other orgy type bedroom activities, but their love for one another always remains steadfast. These two lovers have talked about adding another partner, if or when, they ever met someone that they both had a connection with, but neither have ever felt that emotional connection with any of the people they have invited into their bedroom, that is until they meet Ashe.

Ashe is living the Cinderella life, but her wicked stepmother and sister are even one step more wicked and straddling the abusive line. Meeting Elijah and Bastian is the only sunny spots on her dark days and keeping them a secret is the only way to any kind of happiness.

The three develop feelings both separately and together as a throuple, but sometimes things don’t always go your way, especially when you are basically a prince in the modern world.

This story has lots of twists and turns as the powers against them are quite dastardly and the throuple tries to stay ahead of the plot against them.

For as dirty as the scenes could get, I enjoyed that the emotional connection took longer to evolve, while keeping true to the whole Cinderella theme.

This duet deserves so many stars it is a shame that I have to stop at five. Bound Together is intensely passionate, full of sarcastic wit, loaded with emotional depth, and is a true must read.

First of all, Bound Together is hot, hot, hands down the hottest book I’ve read in 2020🔥. Secondly, the characters are full of so much depth, you will be able to connect with each and every one of them at some point on their journey to happiness. The overall message of no labels, while so very important in romantic love, also applies to other aspects of our lives. We love to place labels on everyone and put them in a box and Ashton (still one of my favorite characters) has the toughest time coming to terms with this concept. Don’t worry, he’s still seeing his therapist about it.

Torn Apart gives us the beginning stages of how Drew, Braydon, Mia, and Ashton all know one another, how their lives tie and weave together in a tangled knot of emotional mess. Bound Together begins right in the heart of this tangled knot, with Drew and Braydon on one end and Mia and Ashton on the other and the two sides trying to figure out how they can not only stay friends, but if there could be more.

There were so many heart swelling moments throughout this entire book. Not only were the four of them learning how to navigate their relationships, but they were also trying to steer their family, school, jobs, friends, basically everything that we all have to deal with on a daily basis and I think that is why this book was so emotional. It was so real, which touched my heart all the more.

Synopsis:

From USA Today bestselling author K Webster and Nikki Ash comes an angsty, new adult, why choose romance.

Oh, look, Ashton Carter destroyed his life—again.

Dad’s disappointed in me.
No shocker there.
But with them, it’s worse.
We’re torn apart and I’m responsible for the shredding.

Selfish.
Liar.
Unworthy.

I’ve made a mess of it all.
I’m not sure it’s even fixable.

Four broken hearts…
Anyone got any tape?

I may be self-destructive and have sucked them into my mess, destroying everyone’s lives in the process, but I’m sure I can fix it.

It’s gonna take focus and determination, both of which I’m sorely lacking.

I’m a spoiled boy who’s used to getting what I want.
In this case, I want them. All of them.
And I sure as hell won’t stop until I succeed.

Not until we’re bound together by…
Me.

Authors’ note: Bound Together is a full-length mature, new adult, why choose romance between friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, with a bit of taboo thrown in. This story contains MF/MFMM/MM scenes. It’s the epic conclusion in the Torn and Bound duet. Torn Apart must be read first.

Excerpt

“Truth or Dare?”

Scarlet and Tate both looked at Roman, who regarded them levelly, as if it were totally normal for an NSA budget analyst to propose that they play a sleepover game.

Scarlet realized she was tapping her foot again in time with the song. Part of her feared the earworm would become permanent, something she’d hear in her head forever. She sat up in the tub.

“You know what? I’m in. Why not? This whole thing is already ridiculous.”

“Dares might be a little hard, given our limited space,” Roman said. But Scarlet had an idea. A very, very dangerous idea. Maybe it was because her most vivid memory of Truth or Dare had been the time she played it at her friend Veronica’s house, on a night when Veronica’s twin brother, Viktor, was also having a sleepover, making it a coed sleepover.

“Tate, I dare you to take off your shirt,” Scarlet said. Both men looked at her, and the looks they gave her were intense…the looks predators gave their prey.

“You’re supposed to ask him ‘truth or dare’,” Roman said slowly. Scarlet let out a noisy sigh. “Tate, truth or dare?” “Truth,” he said with a smirk.

She rolled her eyes. “Okay, fine…have you been practicing your ménage sex?” Tate ran his tongue over his teeth. “I’ve had a few threesomes.”

“Two girls? Two boys? One of each?”

“Ah ah ah, you already asked your question.” Tate waggled his finger at her.

Oh, we’re going to play it like that, are we?” She shook her head in mock disgust, but her body was warm with burgeoning arousal, and it looked like, seemed like, the guys were also ready to play the game the sexy way. Not that she’d really doubted that. There had been this underlying sexual attraction between the three of them since the first day they met at headquarters.

“Roman,” Tate said. “Truth or dare?” “Dare.”

Tate looked back and forth between her and Roman. “I dare you to kiss Scarlet.” Yes! Yes yes yes.

Scarlet sat up, even as Roman slid off the side of the tub, kneeling on the floor and facing her, his hands braced as he leaned over.

Just before she closed her eyes, Scarlet’s gaze met Tate’s, and in that shared moment, she knew that this would only be the first kiss of the night.

Roman continued to be a surprise, one constant stream of contradictions. He never acted the way she expected, and this kiss was just one more example of that.

He was a fairly staid, serious man, but in this moment, he kissed her with a roughness, a passion, that quite simply took her breath away.

One minute his hands were braced on the side of the bathtub, the next they were tangled in her hair, pulling it just enough to tingle, then burn. He pressed her lips apart, their tongues stroking, tasting.

One of his hands released her hair and he gripped the back of her neck, keeping her lips against his when she started to pull back. Not because she wanted to stop but because she needed air. She was light-headed. And horny.

She was really fucking horny.

Roman gave no sign of being even close to finished. Until Tate cleared his throat.

“Am I going to get a chance to play?”

Excerpt:

Oscar had found the pack of cards in the kitchen’s junk drawer, which, as anyone with any sense knew, was where a pack of cards should be. Luca had sheepishly admitted to playing poker on phone apps, but he had never played with other people.

“Then you were playing the cards, not the table.” Oscar shuffled and set the deck on the table in front of Selene.

She tapped it with two fingers and Oscar arched a brow.

“I see you, Dr. Tanaka.”

“I try to replicate the power of the sun for a living.” Selene adjusted her glasses in a sexy librarian way. “You think I’m scared of taking risks?”

“It’s like watching sexy American TV,” Luca said, glancing back and forth between them.

“You think we’re sexy?” Selene asked. “I mean, me too. Obviously Oscar is sexy.”

Luca blushed. “Yes. I mean, you’re both… It’s…” He stared at the cards as Oscar dealt. “Remind me of the rules.”

“Straight poker. Five-card stud. Nothing wild. Keeping it simple this first round. Selene, deal out the chips.”

Selene gave them each ten sauce packets, also gathered from the junk drawer.

They glanced at their cards, discarded, took more, and placed their bets. To his surprise, Luca raised, then raised again.

“You must have a very good hand,” Selene said.

Luca glanced at each of them. “I build and design bombs for a living. Maybe I am simply taking a risk.”

Oscar whistled and slapped the table. “It’s going to be a game of who has the biggest nerd balls.” He pushed the rest of his hot sauce packets toward the center of the table. “Too bad for you two, that’s me.”

“Call,” Selene snapped.

Selene had a flush—all hearts. Appropriate.

Luca had three of a kind.

Oscar lay his cards out. “Full house, tens, and queens.”

Selene drummed her fingers on the table, anxious for a rematch. It appeared his nuclear scientist was competitive. “Deal.”

She won the next round, but he’d bet conservatively, losing only two hot sauce packets. On the third round, Oscar folded, losing only one in the process.

By the fourth hand, he still had most of the packets in his bank and was humming “The Gambler.”

“Deal,” Selene snapped. “Wait, I’ll deal. You’re cheating.”

“Don’t get too worked up, Tanaka. It’s just poker. Now, if we were playing spades…” Every game of spades between him and his siblings had ended in violence. Every. Single. One. Always followed up by one of them yelling, “I will never play cards with you again!”

Selene dealt, and Oscar’s smile had grown in time with his pile of hot sauce packets. He was waiting until Selene realized something she’d missed.

“I raise…” Selene trailed off as she finally noticed she was out of “money.”

“You have to fold?” Luca looked up from frowning at his cards.

“Socks,” Selene said.

“Strip poker.” Oscar sat up, staring across the table at her to try to read her mind. She glanced at Luca, then back to him, and shrugged slightly.

“What is strip poker?” Luca asked.

“You bet with your clothes. You lose and you have to take off something.”

Luca cleared his throat and tugged at the front of his shirt.

The bi guy who grew up in a nutso religious cult was probably wishing he was a thousand miles from here.

“Let’s not.” Oscar picked up some sauce packets, prepared to pass them to Selene.

“If she keeps losing…will she, will you, take off all your clothes?” Luca asked.

“Those are the rules,” Oscar said, grinning when he realized Luca wasn’t as averse to the idea as he’d assumed. “But you’d have to take off clothes as well.”

“If I lose.”

“Oh, you’re going to lose.” Oscar let the hot sauce packets spill from his hand back onto his pile.

“In or out, boys?” Selene asked.
