Every once and while I read a book that touches my soul so hard it leaks out of my eyes for hours and hours. Bleeding Chaos is one of those books. It’s a very emotional, beautifully written, second chance romance that I couldn’t put down.

I knew that going into Gages book that his story would dig into old wounds that might be a little uncomfortable. However, Nikki wrote a story that is both emotionally realistic, but still very touching that even my emotional triggers were wrapped in a warm blanket of soothing calm.

While Gage has his own story of loss and addiction, the FMC, Sadie does as well. While Gage has been digging himself deeper into addiction since he lost his girlfriend six years ago, it’s upon a visit to her tombstone, that he comes across a woman who is lost in her own grief. Sadie is this woman who is drowning in her own grief and Gage notices a familiar soul even through his drug-fog. They are able to comfort one another without really getting close because of this empty feeling inside, but it’s also not helping, if that makes sense. Gage is still an addict and Sadie is still avoiding her life. To say the rest is history is to belittle what happens, because sooooo much happens, but I’ll just say, it’s emotional, and heartbreaking and yet also inspiring.

What I will say is…addiction is hard. Period. But, I loved how Nikki not only tackled the downslide of addiction, as it doesn’t happen instantly and for those stuck in the sycle there is a mental health aspect in both staying in the downward spiral and also involved in getting better, plus it also doesn’t happen overnight. So many books jump the gun in fictionalizing the aspect that love cures you and while I agree that having a strong foundation of loved ones supporting you goes a long way towards recovery, it’s not the cure. Once Gage is getting help he is very aware that he was using for years and his recovery will continue for years to come, if not the rest of his life, but he is also aware that he is the only one who can fix himself and without getting help he is also the one who can falter again. His message was very powerful and so very strong, hence the soulful tears.

Sadie is a fierce powerhouse. Her life is torn apart over and over again, but she continually pulls up her bootstraps and puts herself back together. Her ability to forgive, love, and pick up the pieces of her life is amazing and I never once thought bad of her for the decisions she made regarding how she had to guard her feelings. It takes a good foundation to keep moving forward and without her huge heart I’m not sure Gage could have done as well as he did, especially with his job, so I did like her.

This whole book brought me to tears over and over, as Gage reminds me of someone very special and Nikki did his story justice. As much as it shocks me, considering this entire series has been fantastic, I do believe this is my favorite story of the series.

“Okay, so what’s the plan?”

Obviously, she was going to let him take the lead. Which was definitely how he preferred things. “First rule, we’re going to have to act very close. Like we’ve been close for a while.”

She nodded.

“Like we’ve been physically intimate,” he said to emphasize his point.

She nodded again, seemingly not fazed. “Obviously.”

“So we probably should go over some specifics.”

“Specifics like what?”

“Like that I need…your consent.” So that sounded awkward as fuck out loud. 

But again, she barely hesitated. “You have it.”

“I haven’t even asked you for anything.”

She took a step closer. “Colin, I completely trust you. Whatever you need to do, I’m in. You have my consent to do anything.”

His body tightened in response to that. This was dangerous. Having this woman’s consent to do whatever he wanted to and with her was like a dream come true and a nightmare all rolled into one. 

She. Was. A. Client. 

He took a breath and attempted to pull his shit together. “Okay, that helps. You trusting me is really important. There might be moments where I can only give you instructions without explanation.”

“I get that,” she said. “I’ll cooperate.”

“And there might be times I have to just do something without any words at all. And…explain later.”

She nodded. “Got it.” 

“So…is there anything you absolutely can’t tolerate? Any triggers? Phobias?”

She lifted her brows. “Give me an example.”

“Total darkness. Having your face covered. Certain smells. People touching your hair. Anything like that you can think of?”

Hayden was staring at him, but Colin could tell it was not in fear, but fascination. He was grateful that she seemed to be carefully considering what he’d asked. Finally, she shook her head. “I honestly can’t think of anything.”

“Are you allergic to anything?”

“No. Not that I’m aware of.”

“Is there anywhere you don’t want me to touch you?”

She didn’t even think about that one. “No.”

Again, his body reacted. He stubbornly focused on the conversation. “You’re sure? No spots that are off-limits? Anywhere you’re ticklish?”

“No. I mean, I’m a little ticklish. Like anyone. But there’s nowhere that I don’t want you to touch me.”

His pulse hammered in his veins. He moved in closer. She was going to have to get used to him being close to her. Very close. And this would help emphasize what he was asking about and help him gauge her reactions. He needed to be sure. She might be trying to spare his feelings, or she really might not be aware of things that might, in the moment, make her uncomfortable. 

“I have to play your boyfriend tonight. Someone who knows you well and who’s been close to you. Naked with you. Who’s seen and touched and tasted you,” he said, letting his voice drop. It wasn’t intentional, but he didn’t fight it when his voice got husky. “If I touch you and you stiffen up, reflexively pull away, act skittish, and he’s watching, he’ll notice.”

She didn’t lean away. In fact, she stepped closer. “Colin, I honestly can’t think of a single place where you could touch me that I wouldn’t like it.”

Brielle Silvers has a secret, but it’s one that Madden would actually understand about her so she doesn’t know why she keeps it hidden as long as she does. Brielle doesn’t trust easily, just like Madden, so falling for man like him isn’t on the top of her to do list. The cons weigh higher than the pros, but the heart wants what the the heart wants and it doesn’t take long for Madden to work his way under her skin.

This story is somewhat light on angst and heavy on steam, overall it was a nice wrap up to the series. While Madden can be read as a standalone, there is a lot of time spent with his other band members and their significant others, so reading the other books in the series would make reading this book more enjoyable, but not necessary to follow Madden and Brielle’s plot.

Sweetness, steaminess, and that wonderful wrap me up in ooooieee gooooieee feelings. That is what reading Erin Nicholas brings everytime I open one of her books and I love it!!

This book kept hitting me in all the different feels and throwing me for a loop on which feeling it was going to wring out of me next. Oh my heart, it was sooooo good.

Colin Daly works in security and used to be the bodyguard to Saoirse, the daughter of Fiona and a real little princess, but with a change in circumstances Colin is looking for another long term security position and it might just be Hayden Ross, an up and coming singer who might be the next big thing. However, Colin’s desire for her could put a kink in that plan and not the kinky kind of kink.

Hayden Ross is the sweetest, kindest, and openly honest woman living on the planet. I adored her character and loved her not only with Colin but also with his entire crew. The brotherly bond between Colin, Henry, Jonah, and Cian was so sweet and fun, I loved how they all interacted with each other and more importantly with Hayden. It was the family bond she needed in her life.

There was some danger and mystery woven throughout this story…I mean Hayden does need a bodyguard to guard her body after all…but my favorite parts of the story always revolve around the deep emotions and the crying I constantly do right after fanning myself from the super steamy naked times.

Synopsis:
Ex-bodyguard Colin Daly needs three things:

To figure out how to have a real job after his longtime client no longer needs him.

To find some really good Irish whiskey in the land of homemade moonshine.

A beautifully written, friends-to-lovers romance that completely stole my heart.

Total Chaos was plotted to perfection. Each twist was revealed at the perfect moment to give the characters emotional depth, but also to keep the story flowing so I never wanted to put the book down. Also, while the series has given me a unique couple to fall in love with with each book, Kendall and Declan have easily slide into first place with this beautiful book.

Declan has been in love with Kendall for years while she has been oblivious to his infatuation. I believe everything happens for a reason and at the right time, even though Declan suffered years of unrequited feelings, it truly was for the best and he does come to agree with that sentiment. During those hard years Kendall went through men like kleenex as she wasn’t ready, nor was she emotionally stable for Declan. He is a forever kind of guy and once they jump into something…well, together they are all kinds of perfection.

This story is sweet, romantic, and truly heartfelt. It delves into those feelings we’ve all felt at one time or another. Self doubt, self esteem because, yes, even rock stars have self-esteem issues. We’re human and isn’t that why we love connecting with other people just like us, even a runaway bride and her best friend with a ton of unrequited feelings. This book is real and hits all the feels. Total Chaos is total perfection and I couldn’t get enough of this newest couple.

Trey, Trey, Trey…there is always one in a group who throws me for a loop and this story was it!! Trey completely captured my heart and he never has to give it back!!

Trey did not grow up with the other members of A Rebels Havoc, he was a new addition right before their newest tour. It’s not to say he’s new to playing or new to touring, he’s just new to a band who’s been tight for years. We didn’t know much about Trey aside from Tysin held some animosity towards him, but Trey was basically this new shiny toy to play with. Or maybe like a sinful and slightly used one…anyway…I’m rambling. The thought of Trey, sin, and toys and my mind starts to wander down very wicked paths…anywho….

Trey begins the story with the typical rocker persona; women, liquor, rinse and repeat. It isn’t until Layken appears before him that Trey is basically hit upside the head like an old time cartoon. He seriously doesn’t understand what is going on inside of himself. He can’t stop thinking about her, wanting to find her, talk to her, etc…He’s never felt anything like it and given his lifestyle he doesn’t really have anyone to talk to. He’s that sweetly adorable, when he shouldn’t be. Ugh, this guy shouldn’t be redeemable, but his emotional awakening is literally the best thing ever!!  I want to wrap him in bubble wrap and hug him forever.

I can’t leave Layken out of this love fest either. She is also an amazing force on the page. Layken knows who she is the entire time and never wavers, I love that about her. She makes a great partner for a man like Trey and I’m so happy how their story turned out.

The band is growing with only one member left to fall. I can hardly wait to see how Madden’s story fits in with the rest of the band.

Lyle Livingston is the kind of guy you swoon over from chapter to chapter and basically from page to page. Lyle is the best kind of book boyfriend; loyal, attentive, supportive, loving, AND so dang dirty between the sheets, I am obsessed with him!! This book requires a big glass of ice water to cool down between all the swooning. If I didn’t like Sammi so much, I’d be totally jealous of her.

Lyle is best friends with Sammi’s brother, so they grew up together and had sparks when they were teenagers, but never acted upon them beyond spending time together. Then Lyle left when he made it into the country music industry, but five years later, when Sammi is about to marry another man Lyle is there just in the nick of time.

Marrying Lyle was always Sammi’s dream, but she never actually thought it would happen, especially when he left to pursue his dream. Who knew her actual groom would ditch her on her wedding day and Lyle would actually step in to take his place. Pinch her because she must be dreaming…or perhaps let her keep dreaming because she never wants to wake up. Mrs. Livingston has a nice ring to it.

I totally admit, I wondered where the story was going to go when Sammi and Lyle basically fell in love right from the get go, but I was so, so, so totally wrong in my thinking. I should have known that Heather would write a beautiful book with all the emotions and laughter that I totally expect from her. One Night Standards was pure fire with a great friends to lovers trope tucked right in the gooey center.

We begin the story six years ago and get a really good look inside at the beginning relationship of Braxton and Kaylee. How they fell in love and all those new beginning butterflies, first dates, and first moments that shaped their relationship. They had such a strong foundation, a lasting kind of love, I really did wonder if I was reading the wrong couple because I knew the end was coming and that everything was going to fall apart. I was holding my breath for that devastating moment because Nikki…darn it!! I hated to see it all shatter. The really high high made for the perfect rebuilding that this couple needed to fix.

Fast forward six years and Raging Chaos, the band formed with Braxton and his best friends, is famous and on tour and currently in need of a PR manager. While the rift between Braxton and Kaylee is huge, she went to school for this very thing and she could really use the job. While Kaylee’s not thrilled to be on tour with her ex just as much as he is, being professional is her top priority. Braxton just makes her job a little harder than it should be.

Their hate to passion back to love road is not an easy or straight line. When the Rebels Havoc need a tour manager, last minute, Madden-the drummer-suggests his sister, Kyla, for the job. Even though she knows it will test her limits, being close to the one man who broke her heart, she takes it. She’s now engaged to a perfect man and her best friend will be on board since she’s dating the lead singer, Brix. Everything should be fine. No problem at all. Cool.

Tysin is anything but cool having a happily engaged Kyla living on his tour bus. He lashes out, treats her horribly, and does everything he can to make her life miserable, but that’s because he’s been miserable since he let her go two years ago. It’s not really her fault, he’s damaged and wouldn’t be good for her, but he doesn’t like seeing her happy with someone else either. He just can’t seem to help himself when it comes to Kyla.

Tysin’s story is full of heartbreak and reconnection and I enjoyed how Brooke covered several sensitive topics.  It may have taken a while for this book to be published, but it was worth waiting for the perfect story.

Basically this book is fun no matter how you slice it, especially while I got to enjoy two people who desperately deserve to fall in love with one another.
