It’s fun, it’s super steamy, and it’s about a couple who’s already in love making the most of their free time together before their lives completely change. It was great!

The title should say it all, but James and Penny, are working hard to seduce one another before their life changes in a few months when their first child is born. There aren’t many romance books that focus on married couples, especially smexy ones, but this book includes food play, role-play, and basically all kinds of play that keeps their seduction spicy. It was fun to read about a happily married couple thoroughly enjoying one another.

There is also a secondary story, because in this world, the lives of the Hunter brothers is closely tied to the Caldwell brothers, so they are never far behind.  Penny and James spend time with Rob, Mason and Matt while they help prepare for Rob’s upcoming wedding, along with a lot of Ivy’s other colorful characters that have popped up along the way. For fans several of her series interconnect in this book, but it can also be read as a standalone if this the only series or book you’ve picked up.

Seduction is sweet, funny, and spicy – normally a hard combination to put together, but Ivy Smoak does it flawlessly.

It has been years since the crash, and still I wake every morning with the jarring sense of falling. Christa places her palm on my back for reassurance and I roll over to face her. It’s not yet morning and I can barely make out her features in the moonlight. Her face is fuller and so is her abdomen, but we haven’t said anything to the council yet.
“Go back to sleep Lena,” she whispers, and I flip back to my side, used to following her directions.
I am mad at her and worried for her, but mostly I am determined to save her. It’s the not knowing how that keeps me awake.
There is a rustling in the shelter across the way, and I suspect that Cade is unable to sleep tonight too. I think about crawling out from the familiarity and warmth of the space I share with Christa and clicking my tongue against the roof of my mouth three times. It’s the code we use when the four of us want to sneak out of camp. Only Christa is too tired now and Tanner never leaves her unless Cade or I are there to protect her.
Maybe Cade can hear me thinking because I watch as his silhouette moves from the shelter and down toward the water. Christa groans as I pull away from her and follow him. When I reach the water’s edge I have to skip over three smaller rocks to reach the large curved boulder that rises above the rest. I sit close to Cade so the two of us can whisper. We can’t risk waking any of the others. There are strict rules about men and women being alone together.
Rules that seemed silly—until Christa got sick.
“You shouldn’t be here,” he says, keeping his eyes on the smooth flat surface of the water in front of us.
I don’t care that he wants me to leave. I can’t bear the thought of lying still until the sun rises. So instead, I say what we both know.
“She’s getting noticeably bigger.”
I don’t have to look at Cade to know that his brows are pinched together, and his mouth has formed a tense, firm line. He gets quiet when he can’t quite work something out. Usually I wait him out, but this time I can’t because I know that like me, he doesn’t know where to start.
I trace my hands along the rough edges of the boulder. Below, the water has rubbed it smooth, but on top where we sit, it has the texture of gesso, layered heavily with a palette knife.  The uninvited memory of things from before is unsettling. I wrap my arms around my knees, so as not to feel it.
“They never should have—”
“But they did,” I say, cutting him off.
Cade inches away from me on the rock, as if being too close to me is dangerous. I don’t take it personally, even though just a few weeks ago his hand brushed mine in this very spot and neither of us pulled away.

Titan had feelings for her for numerous years, but during school Emilee actually belonged to Bones, Titan’s best friend, and even though what they had was never a true relationship, it was an ownership which made her untouchable to anyone else. It’s been a few years and Emilee and Bones have been over since she left town, but now she’s back and this time Titan is ready to make his claim.

Emilee left Vegas and everything about it; friends, family, and hookups years ago. Titan is full of very smexy moments and lots of twists and turns. I found it helpful to have read Code of Silence prior to reading Titan. It introduces you to the Dark Kings and the world they grew up in, along with Emilee and her friends which are also a huge part of this Kingdom world. The Kings are very close friends, more like brothers, which you get a peek into each ones history and know more intimately as each book continues. I know I’m looking forward to this series continuing.

So, That Got Weird checked off all of my reading wish list requests. It is full of witty moments, has a ton of heart, and contains lots of smexy time to steam up your reading device or burn your book pages through the night.

While the central theme is having football jock Austin Jacobs help an intellectually awkward Elizabeth Wilde (I love the ironic name btw) out of her socially awkward shell and into her sexual goddessness, the underlying theme is really intimacy.

Both Austin and Elizabeth suffer in their own ways from this seemingly harmless, but also very emotionally charged, word. Intimacy seems like a romantic concept, but it bleeds into everyday life. Friendship, family, acquaintances, basically everyone you meet. At what level do you establish a level of intimacy – or allow someone into the depth of your personal life – and how much do you allow someone the reigns to the emotional harm they can do to you with that knowledge? With that word, both Austin and Elizabeth have struggled with intimacy in their personal life.

Austin is an orphan. He has spent a lot of time in the foster system, but thankfully not in any harmful or physically damaging homes. All Austin has ever wanted was to be to liked, to be wanted, to be loved. On the surface he’s a pretty package that wears a mask. He’ll be whatever you want him to be so he’s adaptable to his environment. People like him and that is something Elizabeth craves, fitting in. However, Austin keeps people at a distance. He never lets people in, he doesn’t date, and he doesn’t do intimacy. That is until somehow Elizabeth gets through his gates of steel.

Elizabeth has never felt normal, not even within her own family. She’s perfected invisibility, but underneath her cool exterior is a fiery woman with a big brain that has trouble shutting off. Her anxiety makes her awk-weird and her monetary status makes her seem aloof, but her life is anything but full and rich. She’d do just about anything to feel normal, even hire a tutor. She’s never had a boyfriend, she’s never really had any friends, frankly she doesn’t really know how to people. When she decides to approach Austin to tutor her in sex so that she can at least get over feeling awkward while on a date, she does her homework in picking the best man for the job. No intimacy involved, just statistics.

While Austin should feel shocked to get propositioned, he’s intrigued. Elizabeth isn’t like other girls and the longer he spends with her the more he’s drawn to what hides under her baggy clothes and cool exterior. He knows she’s not looking for long term just like he’s not looking for a girlfriend. He knows nothing last forever, so this arrangement is perfect, until he suddenly realizes she’s everything he never knew he needed.

Both Elizabeth and Austin are broken, but piece by broken piece they help heal and repair the damage that has been done to them by others and without effort they really help one another. So, That Got Weird, while a steamy romance is also quite beautiful – a real caterpillar to butterfly transformation story. I love ending my year with such a fantastic book!!

“Why should I sleep with you?” I cross-examined the witness. It was the only way to manage Byron.

He considered his cup as if committing to his goal, then studied the way my finger tapped the counter as if choosing a strategy, then pondered my face as he decided on his tactic.

“Because you’re wet already,” he said with a deep knowledge of what aroused women looked like. “Because you want what I can give you. Your head hasn’t even acknowledged it, but your body knows.”

“That’s—” I was going to end in a denial, but my nipples were hard. “—not relevant. You and I don’t make sense.”

“That’s correct.” He gulped tea. I left my cup on the counter, refusing the challenge. “We are a disaster. You despise me too much to want a relationship and just enough to turn you on. And from what I can tell, you don’t want to get involved enough to force an ethical quandary. So, if you agree in principal, I have a proposal.”

Agreeing in principle meant revealing how badly my body ached for him.

Disagreeing meant never satisfying that ache.

“I agree in principal.”

“My proposal is one night. One full night…”

I could commit to that, and I was about to when he continued.

“Wait.”

Josh Summers is full of swagger and possesses a ton of sexy confidence that makes him a yummy, sexy, suit wearing fiction boyfriend. This is a collection of steamy, contemporary stories that revolve around love and the song that inspired it. Personally I felt that some songs were more up front with their musically titled theme than others, but maybe it could have also been that I knew some songs better than others. Regardless, like any anthology I was drawn to certain stories more than others, but overall, the anthology holds something for everyone and for the price you can’t go wrong.

MixTape is packed with excellent authors and lots of steamy romance. Here are just a few of my personal favorites:

“Say Yes”-Elle Kennedy

Have you ever attended a wedding hoping for a quick hookup? Well, Emilia was away for a weekend wedding and she was definitely swiping left and right. Her perfect match, a man named Dirk (really Dirk?) Well, he was the perfect walking wet panty dream, which was perfect for her one night stand. The only snag in her perfect plan was when the bride introduces her (the next morning) to the groom, who just so happens to be none-other than Dirk (yeah, she knew that name spelled trouble).

“Say It First” Nikki Sloane

When Anna Douglas made it big in Hollywood, she didn’t really stay connected to people back home. It wasn’t that she was a snob, it was that she wasn’t connected before she made it big, so when a friend request popped up from Jamie Campbell, one of the most popular guys from high school, she couldn’t resist accepting. Months and conversations later they have become each other’s best friend, but could it be more? With hectic schedules and never declaring anything but friendship is it time to move beyond the chat room?
