Review:
In Suddenly You, Cooper and Matthew wake up in a Vegas hotel room, married with little to no recollection of how it all occurred. Perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad if they’d been pinning after one another, but to add to the oddity of the morning after, Matthew had only ever been with women. He’d never had feelings for another man…so how did this all come about…the questions began to add up and the grooms, or should I say husbands, were just as stumped.

Cora does extremely well writing emotionally damaged characters. Men especially, with bleeding hearts and characters who’ve grown up in toxic home environments. What I love about her stories is that even with her characters’ upbringings, no matter how harsh of a world it was, once they are in a loving environment, surrounded by people who understand them, no matter what kind of care and understanding they may need,  eventually the character releases all of the poison that has been fed to them for years. This is Matthew and Cooper down to a T in Suddenly You. Matthew struggled internally with his upbringing a lot while he was struggling with his new feelings for Cooper, where as Cooper was there from day one with open arms.

Matthew is a big grump for a lot of the book, but that’s mainly in part because he’s fighting his feelings and then because Cooper is Mr. Sunshine with a heart of gold. Their banter is super cute and keeps the book fairly low angst, but filled with lots of heat.

Cooper is probably the most patient person I’ve read, while also being adorably sweet as he herds Matthew gently towards his feelings. I was right there with Coop as I wanted these two to work right from the very beginning of the book.

I love Cora’s books as the characters discover that being who they truly are is freeing and that love is love even when it falls outside of the norm. Suddenly You can be read as a standalone, even with secondary characters mentioned from other books popping in every now and then.  I haven’t had the chance to read those books yet, but now I really want to just because they were a splash of fun.

Synopsis:
We’ve all heard the saying, “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”
God help me, if only that were true.
Because as it turns out, my surprise gay husband is very much still my husband outside of the great state of Nevada. And let me tell you, as a straight guy, waking up married to a man I barely know with no memory of how it happened wasn’t even on my Bingo card.
What started as a fun weekend getaway to support my brothers in their relationships and show them how much I’ve grown, has somehow spiraled wildly out of my control.
Cooper Barone is rich, kind, and charming, but he’s holding all the cards now. Because he doesn’t want our marriage annulled. No, he says he wants us to make a deal. He wants me to spend time with him, to move in with him.
All I know is that I’m broke and I can’t afford a divorce without his compliance, without his help.
So there’s nothing left for me to do but agree and accept my fate.
I’m a straight dude with a husband.
This is my life now.
