I enjoyed each book in the Tall, Dark and Sexy series written solely by Erika Wilke. Each one is a standalone, but even better when they are read together, especially when leading into this new series. The final book in the Tall, Dark and Sexy series ended with Dylan (the inventor of the Boyfriend Experience app) adding Eric Miller to the beta pool, unbeknownst to Eric himself, thus kicking off this fantastic book. Again, you don’t need to read the other books, but why not because they are also a lot of fun.
This new series co-written by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde of the Boyfriend Experience is just delicious. It is filled with great chemistry between Evie and Eric, good friends, wacky parents, and just enough heart to make this one of my favorites in the world that Erika originally created.
Eric Miller is a proclaimed bachelor, for his own heartbreaking reasons (I hate to divulge because it’s truly a moment you need to experience for yourself). So, Mr. Non-relationship has always kept things shallow and he likes things that way. No one gets hurt and things never get messy.
When Evie Bennett needs a boyfriend for an upcoming family reunion (again her reasons for needing one is a journey you need to personally take) but at face value she’s doing it because her recent ex is a cheating scumbag and she doesn’t want to show up to the reunion alone. A plus for the man she picks, Eric Miller has the same first name as her traitorous ex, so at least she won’t botch up his name all weekend.
The flaws to Eric’s plan in deciding to say yes: Eric never signed up to be an actual boyfriend on the dating site. His friend, Dylan, added his profile to the beta test pool-jokingly-soft of. Plus Eric doesn’t do relationships, only casual, but when he meets Evie, all those reasons fly out the window as feelings begin to take root where feelings shouldn’t be. Meeting her parents, spending the weekend relaxed in the arms of a beautiful woman, he feels…he feels…what? How can he explain all of this to Evie, when he can hardly explain it to himself? Should he tell Evie he’s really not a fake boyfriend and should he tell her that he likes her, but he can’t like her? Maybe he’ll just keep his mouth shut and enjoy the weekend.
Evie knows by using this app and taking Eric with her this is only a temporary relationship. Eric is upfront that he doesn’t do permanent, but he is really good at his “job” and makes her feel desired for the first time ever. She is going to make sure he gets a glowing recommendation on the app site even though the thought of losing him hurts. Not one to sit back, she goes all in for the weekend and takes every advantage of the boyfriend experience. Eric is a risk she is willing to take, even if it is temporary.
