New Release – Beautiful, Fragile by Michelle Montebello

Title: Beautiful, Fragile
Author: Michelle Montebello
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: November 25, 2019

We’d hurt each other, my soulmate and me…

Faith James is found on a remote beach in the south of Spain with a head injury and no recollection of how she got there. Recovering in hospital, she is desperate to return to her twenty-five-year-old, single life in Sydney.

But Faith has lost ten years of memories and her world becomes unrecognisable.

Her husband, Will, arrives to collect her, and she is told she has three young children waiting at home in London.

So begins the emotional journey to reclaim the life she’s forgotten, learn how to be a wife and mother, and mend a broken marriage. She wants to remember everything…

But are all memories worth fighting for, even the ones that hurt?

Apple Books:

“I want you to remember, Faith,” he said softly. “I want you to remember all the good times and leave out the bad ones.”
“I don’t think I get to pick and choose.”
“We both did things we weren’t proud of. Things that I’d be happy for you to forget. But if it comes back to you, I want you to know that I’m sorry. It was my fault.”
I wanted to ask him what we’d done, what awful things we’d put each other through. But I was afraid to know. Maybe, in some ways, my memory loss was a blessing. All the bad things had been wiped clean while for Will, he had to live with them each day, had to remember every word, every hurtful action.
I leant in closer and rested my head on his chest. At first his body stiffened, then he relaxed, put his arm around me and held me close.
We laid like that for a time while something skimmed the sky high above us.
“Look a shooting star,” he said.
“The International Space Station.”
“Show off.”
I giggled. Then he bent his head, put his lips on mine and kissed me.

When someone at the craps table beside me shouts, “Yes!” I flick my gaze in that direction. Standing at the very end is a tall woman in tight black pants with the shapeliest ass.
There’s an untidy pile of flecked chips in front of her. A modest stack of chips is also nestled on the edge of the table.
Apparently, she’s winning.
Curious, I watch as the woman makes the standard pass line bet. There are three shooters at the table, and they will each take a turn rolling the dice, although they will all be betting on each roll.
Not my game of choice.
No skill.
Just luck.
She’s first, so she grabs the dice, gives them a blow for luck, and rolls them both down the table in her come out roll.
I can’t see the dice, but when she jumps up and down, I can only guess she rolled a seven or an eleven. It’s still her turn, and when she does her little ritual with the dice again, I find it more than sexy. On this roll, if she rolls a two, three or twelve, she loses.
I feel like I want to cross my fingers for her.
It’s all about luck.
She jumps up and down again, and I know she’s still in.
Roll after roll, she’s kicking ass.
Now, I’m holding my breath because she’s on the point roll. The dealer turns the puck to ‘ON’ and places it on the number that was just rolled. All she has to do is avoid a seven to keep going.
She’s still as the roll comes to a stop. I feel more emotion watching her than I did with everything I had on the line back at the blackjack table.
“Bad luck,” I hear someone groan and watch as the pile of chips she had pushed forward disappears.
She sevened-out. She practically sags at the table as the loss registers. Just then, the concierge hands me a receipt that acknowledges the transfer of my winnings, and shaking my head for her, I start to stride toward the exit.
Shouldn’t play a game luck.
Somehow, she accidentally pushes the small remaining pile of chips under her arm onto the floor as I’m passing behind her. Without a second thought, I find myself diving down to help her recover her money.
When my eyes meet her sparkling blue ones, I can’t move, and all the breath is knocked squarely from my chest.
It’s been ten years since I broke her heart, and shit…
Little Liz Laurent is all grown up.

New Release – Shaking the Sleigh by Delancey Stewart

Title: Shaking the Sleigh
Series: Seasons in Singletree #1
Author: Delancey Stewart
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: November 25, 2019

I’ll just admit it right up front—I don’t love the holidays.
In fact, Christmas makes me downright cranky.
Call me the Grinch if you must, but if your dad chose that day to decide he was wrong about that whole wanting a family thing, you’d grow up miffed about mistletoe too. Every candy cane, ugly sweater, and falalalala reminds me of the worst day of my life.
So when my uncle—a bigwig network executive—gives me one last shot to salvage my disastrous TV production career on a show called Holiday Homes, I’ve got no choice but to suck it up, head to the small town of Singletree, and fake festive.
The problem?
Callan Whitewood. The sexy, sullen former pro-soccer player might be the one person on earth who hates the holidays more than I do. After a devastating injury ended his career, he’s left with a limp, no idea what to do with his future, and a cheerless attitude worthy of Ebenezer Scrooge. But I’ve got a TIME LIMIT to convince the gorgeous grump to allow his home to be featured as the pinnacle of the Christmas episode of the show that’s going to save my career.
That is, if I can keep my hands off him… but I’m having a bit of trouble sticking to the task.

SHAKING THE SLEIGH is a standalone holiday romantic comedy with a satisfying happily ever after, plenty of festive chuckles, some sexy times and a few chinchillas. Maybe a cat. (And there might be a wombat because wombats really do fit into almost any story.)

“So, that happened.” I tucked my bottom lip between my teeth and raised my eyebrows.
“It definitely did.” He rolled me on top of him so he could kiss me again. “Are you having regrets?”
“Definitely not, but—”
“Is this where you tell me that even though we spent the last,” he checked his watch, “fifteen minutes having the best sex I’ve ever had, during which I made you come three,”
I held up four fingers, grinning,
“Oh, excuse me, four times. It was a bad decision and we should never do it again?”
“Lisa, I’m probably going to lose my job tomorrow and CJ’s gonna wake up any minute. Can we just enjoy this moment?”
A wide grin split my face. “The best sex you’ve ever had?”
“That’s what I said.”
“Okay,” I held his face in my hands and kissed him. “Let’s enjoy this moment.”

In the Unlikely Event AMAZON

Sometimes you meet people who are out of this world, so you make them a part of yours.

A one-night stand born from vengeance in a foreign land.

An explosive chemistry neither of us could deny.

We signed a contract on the back of a Boar’s Head Pub napkin that said if we ever met again, we would drop everything and be together.

Eight years and thousands of miles later, he’s here.

In New York.

And he’s America’s music obsession.

The intangible Irish poet who brings record executives to their knees.

The blizzard in my perfect, unshaken snow globe.

Last time we spoke, he was a beggar with no intention of becoming a king.

But a king he became, and now I’m his servant.

I’m not the same broken princess Malachy Doherty put back together with his callused hands.

I have a career I love.

A boyfriend I adore.

An apartment, a roommate, a life.

I changed. He changed, too.

But Mal kept the napkin.

Question is, will I keep my word?

Amazon Paperback:

When I finally come face to face with the street artist standing on the side of the pavement, his guitar case open and full of rolled-up notes and change, I understand why his grandfather told me I’d recognize him with the self-assurance of an avid believer.

I’ve never seen someone like him before.

He is beautiful, true, but that’s not what stands out to me. He is radiant.

It’s like his presence has a presence. He sucks the air out of everything in his vicinity, making it impossible not to look at him. Malachy is tailor-made for a huge, colossal heartbreak. Everything about him—his tattered jeans, filthy boots, white shirt, and leather jacket that was broken in decades ago—screams trouble. He looks like a seventies heartthrob. An icon. A Terry Richardson muse. Bruce Springsteen pre-fame.

His voice is like honey and warm spices. It lulls me into a place in my mind I’ve never been before, even though it’s far from beautiful. It is gruff, throaty, and smoky. When someone bumps my shoulder to get closer to him, I snap out of my reverie and realize what I’m listening to.

“One” by U2.

The coincidence is strange. I try to tell myself it’s nothing. This is Ireland. U2 is a national treasure.

His eyes are squeezed shut as he sings. It’s like no one exists other than him and his guitar. Something warm rushes through my skin, like a heat wave, and I shudder in delight.

I always thought there was something melancholy about street performers—the way people walk past them, ignoring their music, their art, their passion. But this guy, he’s the one doing the ignoring. The tables have turned. He’s got the crowd eating from the palm of his hand. Every woman here is under a thick, sweet spell. He’s got that Harry Styles quality that makes girls want to bed him and older women want to adopt him. The men are a cross between impatient, annoyed, and jealous. You can see it in the way they tap their feet, check their watches, nudge their wives and girlfriends to move it.

The song ends, and Malachy Doherty cracks his eyes open and stares directly at me, like he knew I’d be here. Like he watched me watching him through closed eyes. Disoriented—and for some reason wanting to do something, anything—I throw a bill into his guitar case and look away, realizing to my horror that I threw the fifty euros his grandpa gave me. Everyone around me murmurs and whistles. They think it was intentional. I can feel my face flaming red. I bet he thinks I want to sleep with him.

Do I? Probably. But should he know that? Hell no.

Exclusive Excerpt:

The following week is more of the same. I work at the store, make dinner, and Trent and I spend our evenings watching a movie. We’ve wiped out most of his DVD collection and are now working through the movies On Demand. We’ve graduated from just watching the movie and eating to having actual conversations. I talk about my childhood in Philly, how wonderful my mom was, and how I ended up going to college on a rowing scholarship.
I learned that Trent joined the military right out of high school and then went on to be a physician for the navy. Talking to him is easy and he never pushes me to speak about the…other things. I was telling him the truth the other night, the night we split the last of the cheesecake. The night I know I had woken him with my screaming, but he wouldn’t admit it.
I don’t understand him. How he can be so kind and thoughtful…so selfless?
I’ve never met anyone like him, and I can’t help but feel guilty. He’s a grown man with a career and incredibly handsome. He comes home every night after work just to eat dinner and sit in front of the television with me. I know his two closest friends live hours away, but he must have others, ones who are local. Doesn’t he want to spend some time with them…or with women? The thought of Trent with a woman makes me suddenly feel nauseated and I set my dinner plate down on the coffee table.
Trent came home from work tonight earlier than planned and surprised me with Chinese takeout, claiming that it was his turn to cook. I just laughed at his idea of cooking and happily dished out the lo mein and sesame chicken onto two plates.
“Not a Chinese food fan?’ he asks, placing his empty plate next to mine.
“No, I love Chinese food. I just…” Just thought about you going out on a date with another woman and I wanted to be sick. I stand and grab the plates, but in my haste to escape I stub my toe on the coffee table and let out a string of expletives that would make any sailor proud. Trent takes the plates from my hands and sets them back down.
I sit on the couch and grab my foot.
Trent takes a seat next to me. “Let me see, Tia.” I wiggle my toes. I don’t think I broke anything, but two of them hurt like a bitch. “Tia, please?” I shake my head, mostly from embarrassment, but plop my leg into his lap. He peels off my sock and looks at my toes. My big toe and the one next to it throb, but he is gentle as he inspects them. “I think you’ll live. But I’ll get you some ice.” Trent flies off the couch and comes back with an ice pack in less than a minute. He sits back down, raises my injured foot and places it in his lap. He holds the ice against my toes while he continues to examine my foot.
“What is the prognosis, Doctor?”

“Just a good old-fashioned stubbing. We’ll still ice it for a bit, though.” His thumb presses on the ball of my foot and I let out a little moan. “Sorry, does that hurt?”
No, that felt glorious. “No, just feels good,” I say. Our eyes lock and his thumb continues to apply pressure.
“Do you want me to stop, Tia?” he asks.
What are we doing? Housemates don’t give each other foot rubs.
I lie to myself and say that he is just doing his job, that he is a doctor who is taking care of his patient. And then I realize that doctors don’t give patients foot rubs, either.

Blog Tour – BREAK THE RULES by Roxie Noir

BTR - BT banner.jpg

Some lines shouldn’t be crossed.

Some rules shouldn’t be broken.

June is one of them, and I know it.

Break the Rules, an all-new hilarious, brother’s best friend romance from Roxie Noir, is available now!

As a forest ranger, I believe in the simple life. I prefer cabins to apartments, trails to freeways, and trees to people. My life is orderly, predictable, and quiet.

Until it’s hit by a woman I never saw coming — Hurricane June.

She’s fierce. She’s feisty. She has a laugh like the first day of spring, and she’s so pretty that I can’t breathe when I look at her. June will only be in town for a few months—just while job-hunting. She won’t last until winter, but how can I resist?

Except I have to. She’s my best, oldest, and most loyal friend’s baby sister.

Betraying him would be the worst thing I’ve ever done. Not betraying him might be the hardest.

Especially once we start working together on a secret project. All this spending time together, sneaking around at night, and lying to her brother about what we’re doing sure feels like more than friendship.

June might break my heart. Her brother might break my nose.

But I guess some things were made to be broken.

Read Kay’s Review: Break the Rules

I like this side of Levi. It’s a side I’ve only ever seen glimpses of before in the past two weeks — sweet, slightly goofy, teasing and funny, different from the serious, quiet man I thought he was. It’s a strange revelation, but a good one, even if I wish I liked it less.

“One minute,” I tell him, and pull back from the window.

I shut it. I pull the curtains closed. I wonder what I’m doing and why on earth Levi has shown up beneath my bedroom window at twelve-thirty in the morning. I wish that the sight of him down there had made me feel differently, that I was indifferent and vaguely curious instead of suddenly buzzing and feeling like I’m being lifted aloft by several large birds.

I tiptoe down the stairs and through the living room, still wondering. I haven’t heard from him at all since we ate pizza in the back of his truck two nights ago, and I wish that didn’t bother me. I wish I thought less about him sitting there, as night fell, laughing and showing me his cell phone or telling me that he’s an alien.

I wish I thought less about him, period.

When I get outside, Levi’s leaning against his truck, his shoulder-length hair out of its usual knot.

I’m not sure I remember seeing him with his hair down before. He looks different. Relaxed. Like himself.

“I named the dog,” he says as I walk up to him.

I don’t know what I was expecting him to say, but that wasn’t it.

“You do know that the last time a man came to my window, I called my brother to get rid of him,” I say. “I’m sure he told you about that.”

“He certainly did,” Levi said. “And if I were in my right mind, it might have deterred me.”

“You’re in your wrong mind, then?” I ask, tilting my head slightly, keeping my voice down.

“You didn’t ask what I named the dog,” he says.

“Did you come here at twelve-thirty in the morning to tell me you named your dog?” I ask.

Levi smiles, holds out one hand. I step forward and take it, his skin warm and he enfolds my fingers in his.

“No,” he says. “I came here to say that I think you should come back to my place for a nightcap.”

“A nightcap?”

“Yes,” he says. “I’d like to take you home, fix you a drink, and seduce you, and I’d like to do it without thinking even once of your brother.”
