This is the second book in the Stewarts of Skagway romance series and its full of love, heartbreak, and a second chance that seems impossible even when all hope is buried under years of regret and broken trust, but Harper and Joe breathe life into something broken and make it beautiful.

Harper Stewart and Joe Raven are destined to be together. End of story. Seriously, if there ever was a couple written in the stars, it is these two people. They first meet in the third grade and become fast friends who then become so much more as they age. Their lives should be perfect, like I said, their story is written in the stars, but unfortunately distance and hard life choices separate them until their story is broken and torn. Now, after ten years apart Joe wants another chance. He’s tired of waiting for Harper so they can begin a future together. Harper goes so far to avoid him every time he sees her that she won’t even make eye contact with him. But…there’s a good reason why Harper’s been distant and she doesn’t want to break the man who still holds her heart, even after a decade apart. Joe may never forgive her if she breaks down and looks him in the eye, much less talk to him, or do all the other things her heart has been craving after years apart.

Harper is stubborn and set in her ways, but it sunk in later through the book as to why she was the way she was and she won me over and totally earned my respect. Where as Joe is amazingly sweet. This is a man who has held on to the thought of Harper for years, even when she wasn’t there, but every man does eventually have a breaking point and my heart stuttered and cracked when Joe, the eternal optimist, felt pushed to that edge.

This story is full of turmoil and grief, but it will prove that love is stronger if you can survive the hard stuff together. Also, I don’t have to say this often when it comes to Regnery’s books, but for this one, read any content warning that she has posted.

This is an introduction to a new family and a new series by one of my favorite contemporary authors, Katy Regnery.

Katy’s back with her small town romance, set in Alaska and this time she’s blended her popular Odds-Are-Good series while introducing a brand new family, the Stewarts, all into this one book.

Tanner Stewart is in need of a fake fiancée for the summer, so he posts an advertisement in the Odds-Are-Good paper. McKenna Cabot is in need of some funds to support her ailing grandmother so she answers Tanner’s ad and well…the rest is history…or something like that.

This story is an introduction to the Stewart family, first and foremost. It’s also a wonderful history lesson into the Alaskan frontier. I really did enjoy delving into that part of the book. The relationship between Tanner and McKenna was almost the least interesting part of the novel. I know weird of me to say.

I truly loved meeting the rest of the secondary characters, although at some point a lot ot them will be primary ones. I loved learning about Alaskan history and culture and Katy does a wonderful job of making it interesting and not feel like I’m sitting back in a high school classroom. McKenna is a teacher and an anthropologist, so her curious nature certainly helped, and Tanner has grown up around tours and then given them himself so he’s fluent in all things having to do with the territory surrounding him. It doesn’t take long for both McKenna and Tanner to realize that they have more in common than they would have ever thought. Their relationship really grows from the intellectual aspect first and then their chemistry takes off. It was interesting to read a book that happens, perhaps a bit more like in the real world than it does in fiction, but still sweet nonetheless. While their relationship is a slow burn and I sometimes wondered if it would work out, by the end I was full on rooting for them and had big fat happy tears rolling down my face. Total Team Tanner and McKenna all the way!

The Stewart family is close knit and they all have their own quirks and personalities, but at the end of the day they all have each other’s backs. I’m truly excited to see where the rest of the family heads next and I’m looking forward to the rest of this series.

This is a beautiful, heartfelt, and touching story! I’ve always loved Regnery’s writing and Kodiak Lumberjack is another wonderful addition to the collection of emotional books that I absolutely adore.

Soren has always lived in the shadow of his older brother, Magnus and when Soren is put to the task of helping Magnus weed through the personal ads of finding him a wife, Soren himself, is touched by one response in particular. The way she writes, her wit and charm shine through, Soren is instantly smitten and replies not on behalf of his brother, but for himself.

Nola has lived behind the fear of what society would say about the scars on her face, scars she has lived with her entire life, but has never emotionally coped with.  When she meets Soren face to face, for the first time in her life, she feels beautiful and comes to terms with several realities that help her grow from meeting the man of her dreams.

This story has a slow burn on a physical level, but emotionally Nola and Soren pulled at my heart strings from the very beginning which also included their chemistry that never wavered.  These two are both precious and beautiful people inside and out. It’s a story that’s both touching and thought provoking. I loved it and couldn’t put it down for one moment.

An intense, page-turning hit, full of emotional topics. Katy Regnery kept me up late with this highly emotional book.

In My Valdez Valentine Addison, an LA divorce attorney, receives a desperate call from her adventurous brother that unfortunately cuts in and out. Elliot gave her bits of information that leads her to believe he’s in trouble. This isn’t the first time her brother has gone off on a dangerous adventure, but something about this message sounds more ominous than most. Addison heads to Alaska and hires Gideon, a helicopter tour pilot, to help search for him, fearing her brother may have little time left and since she isn’t familiar with the area she needs all the help she can get.
I love that even though Addison is smart and normally has a level head on her shoulders, when it comes to her wild brother, she does anything she can to take care of him. Addison proclaims not to understand misplaced emotions, or to ever succumb to the frivolous emotion of love, but the one exception in her life is her brother. She doesn’t want to give up the search and that is where Gideon steps in. Their connection is immediate, but she puts it on a backshelf in lieu of finding her brother.

Gideon is a helicopter tour pilot, so he knows the area, but he is not normally in the business of search and rescue. When Addison shows up asking questions about her lost brother, he offers his services and he’s drawn to her for reasons he can’t really explain. Gideon is just a good guy, no ifs, ands, or buts. He is the perfect mix of horny, hot male and sweet, loving gentleman. For Gideon his attraction to Addison is instant, but he also doubts his own attraction from her numerous times, which is heartbreaking, but also makes him very easy to fall for. Addison is quick to compliment and put him at ease, which lights him up. He’s very easy to please and super patient. Once you get to know both of their backgrounds you realize they are a perfect match for one another.
Gideon has a huge heart which he made it kind of hard to hide, but Addison’s lack of wanting to fall in love made it easy for Gideon to get away with him wearing his on his sleeve. He’s not a pushover by any means, so don’t misconstrue what I’m saying. Gideon is exactly what Addison needs in her life to help her understand the feelings she’s never experienced before. This is where I think they are the perfect give and take couple.

I love the chemistry they have, but constantly try to keep at bay. They are both extremely intelligent people and try to tackle their relationship intellectually vs. hormonally, but how long can that last….yeah I love this side of the human species, because chemistry and explosions are bound to happen eventually when the heat is turned up. Well done Katy! You are amazing and tackled some very tough issues in this beautiful story. Another hit in the Odds-Are-Good series.

I love everything about Katy Regnery’s Odds Are Good series!! Once again I was brought into her world that I didn’t want to leave, I also fell in love people I connected with and want to revisit over and over again.

Trevor, aka Mr. Fairbanks, isn’t looking for love. He was burned in the worst possible way, not only by his ex, but also by his brother. Trevor places an ad in the Odds Are Good  magazine for a discreet, intimate weekend over New Years with zero chance for love, but what he finds is more than he ever bargained for.

Faye is a successful business woman who hasn’t had time for a personal life. Losing her parents while still in college and then taking over the care of her younger sister didn’t leave room to look for love. When she spots Mr. Fairbanks advertisement it intrigues her for many reasons. First, his use of vocabulary (because big words used correctly are ultra sexy). Second, he lives in a town where she has been interested in acquiring a new distillery, the trip to Alaska will ultimately kill two birds with one stone. Third and probably most important, she’s still a virgin and losing her v-card is starting to become a ticking timebomb. Being a thirty year old virgin is a strange oddity and losing this one dreaded thing to a stranger seems better than explaining it to the next man she actually wants to date. She’s been there, done that, and it never goes well.

All goes well with the plans in place for Mr. Fairbanks and “Faith” (Faye uses an alias too) and they plan to meet the weekend of New Years.  That is until Trevor and Faye meet in person the week prior and the two real people hit it off. As they get to know each other they begin to feel guilty that they have an upcoming tryst with a “stranger”. Do they keep their standing plans or keep getting to know the person in front of them? Neither planned on real feelings, but is it possible for plans to change?

Trevor and Faye and a wonderful couple together. Healing and growing in that beautiful way that Katy writes broken characters. The Fairbanks Affair is a perfect story for the holiday season.

I was not prepared for the blubbering, ugly cry that Nome-o Seeks Juliet let me have. The emotional feels Katy brought to life in these characters doesn’t even begin to describe the ups and downs you will take on this journey. It’s a day later and I’m still tearing up over Cody and Juliet. Nome-o Seeks Juliet is a story that is going to crawl inside your heart and live there.

Cody Garrison is a military vet, living in the outskirts of Alaska with his nineteen dogs. He’s been training his dogs for dog sledding and specifically the one coming up is a co-ed race. His main problem, he doesn’t have a co-ed partner to race with. His secondary problems he doesn’t like to talk about. Nome, Alaska is a small town so he places an ad in the Odds Are Good magazine hoping to reach a wider field. With his play on words he was shocked when a woman named Juliet answers. Call it destiny or fate, but watch out Nomeo your life is about to change.

Juliet Sanderson is in her final year of veterinary school. For her fellowship she is supposed to write a study on the relationship between sled dogs and their owners. Her initial contact fell through so when she sees Cody’s ad looking for a sledding partner she responds. Cody may not be a known name the mushing field and she may not exactly have sledding experience, but spending time with him and his dogs learning is better than not submitting a paper at all. Taking destiny by the horns, off to the middle of No-Where-Alaska she goes for the experience that changes her life.

Nome-o Seeks Juliet is such a beautiful story. The human nature of wanting to love and be loved radiates off the pages. Katy Regnery, thank you for the ugly crying and beautiful heartfelt moments. I loved this book more than I can possibly say!

Considering the amazing lineup of excellent books that Regnery has penned, Single In Sitka is one of my favorite series books of Katy’s to date. This book contains it all; sizzling heat between a sexy, single dad and a work-driven journalist. Heart pounding, emotional moments ranging from tears to anxiety to deep swooning. Along with fabulous secondary characters that enrich the story. Single in Sitka is a book you don’t want to miss in 2019!

Amanda finds an ad in the Odds Are Good online dating magazine describing Luke; a single guy in Alaska looking for love. She’s never been to Alaska, but she is picturing a hunky man who can fulfill her nightly fantasies better than her cheating ex ever could. When she’s pressed to fulfill a deadline for where she works, her writing partner throws out the idea of saving the bears in Alaska thus giving her the opportunity to find her hunky soulmate. Unable to turn down a writing assignment…Amanda suddenly finds herself in Alaska with the ability to look up Luke; Mr. Single and hopefully hunky, dreamy Luke. When in Alaska and all that.

Luckily Luke is actually who he says he is, BUT he didn’t place the ad, his sister did. Nothing like a bit of awkward to start things off. You see, the reason Luke is single, his wife passed away two years ago and his sister feels it’s time to get back on the proverbial horse. She’s worried about him. While she takes his kids for the weekend, he meets Amanda and they do hit it off, but decide on a no-strings, just fun agreement. Perfect. She’s only in town for two weeks as it is. Things are great until they both get attached and two weeks aren’t nearly enough.

What do you do when the person you’re falling for lives 800 miles away? How do people make these long distance relationships work? Should they just chalk it up as a fling and move on?

There are so many variables and moving parts when it comes to falling in love as a single father. Luke as an AH HA moment when he realized that when he fell in love with his wife it was just the two of them and he could devote all of his attention to just her. Now, even if he wanted to spend every waking hour with Amanda he couldn’t. He had responsibilities, not that he would trade them for the world, he loved his kids, but this time around it was just different which meant he had to do things differently. I love these kind of intricate details that seem so minute, but add so much flavor

Single in Sitka is such a great story and even though it is a complete standalone I can’t wait to return to Alaska and see what Katy has in store for us next.

One Hot Summer is an anthology comprised of seven stories written by seven different authors. I read Single in Sitka for review purposes, but I’m itching to dive back in and read the rest because I loved Katy’s addition to this anthology and the other stories look just as good.

Katy did not disappoint with her addition to this anthology. Single in Sitka is about a journalist, Amanda, who finds herself in Sitka, Alaska chronicling information about recent bear attacks. Amanda is only in town for two weeks, but while there she also answers a personal ad of single dad, Luke Kingston, perhaps she doesn’t have to be lonely while finding out information for her job. She isn’t exactly ready for a long term commitment again, not after her long term boyfriend cheated on her and left.

Luke didn’t really place the ad looking for a no-strings-attached-get-back-on-the-horse kind of relationship, his sister actually did. It wasn’t that kind of ad…het our minds out of the gutter… she placed in the hopes that he would find something long term, but when Luke meets Amanda they both agree the short-term relationship is the way to go. He hasn’t been on a date since his wife died two years ago and Amanda is his first step out in the dating world again.

As Amanda and Luke get to know one another, it does get a little tougher to see the short term relationship come to end, but that was their rule going into the arrangement. Neither Luke nor Amanda want to leave with a broken heart.

This is the first part to their love story, the second half will arrive in October. I’m really looking forward to seeing how their romance plays out. This is a very steamy new romance series and Katy never disappoints in writing a fantastic romance.
