The second book, in this all consuming series, delves darker, got angstier, and builds a more intimate relationship between the monster and his obsession.

I was once again hooked and drawn in to this fascinating world built by Rina Kent and found it extremely hard to put down in the late night hours even knowing I had to get at least a couple hours sleep before waking up to go to work….boooo for work!! LOL!

Sasha and Kirill’s relationship was torn after Russia. How do you build trust after destroying it in the worst way possible? It’s nearly impossible, but no one said that Sasha or Kirill were quitters. They are two of the most driven, insanely focused, and hard headed characters Rina’s written to date. Personally, I love that both of them have these characteristics because it creates intense volcanic emotions that result in high heat reactions on the page. It obviously makes for electrifying reading and a couple that, no matter how morally gray they are, I’m rooting for them.

Rina Kent is a one click author for me because her writing is always top notch. She captures the best emotions, whether they are right or wrong or somewhere in between. As the reader, I always feel everything the character is feeling. It clearly makes her books a page turning obsession for me, since I get so sucked in I lose all sense of time and space, hence the lack of sleep, but it’s totally worth it!!

Lies of My Monster is another Rina Kent best. It’s a high stakes, angsty ride, with a jaw dropping cliffhanger book! Now, I can’t wait to jump back in and finish this trilogy to find out how everything comes together in the finale. I need answers and I know Rina will deliver. I’m anxiously excited.

There is nothing I love better than digging into the backstory of one of Rina’s characters. The way she weaves her plot and stitches in every sinful description or small tidbit, I completely gobble it all up like the starving reader I am. Her worlds are rich and I love how she winds them together just enough to find easter eggs, but every new couple is unique and completely stands on their own. I never fail to fall deeply in love with each new book, making a new favorite couple every single time.

Blood of my Monster is the beginning of Kirill and Sasha’s story. A mix between Mulan and Anastasia, Sasha’s story was emotional, raw, and gripping. Her background is shrouded in mystery and yet from what we come to know she is one of the most determined and strong women Rina has ever written. Her identity needs to stay hidden and while Kirill doesn’t know why, he keeps her secret as a keeper of secrets himself.

While meeting Kirill through other’s eyes in the past I wasn’t sure what to think of him, but now that I’ve gotten the chance to know him I love the monster that hides behind his glasses. Kirill, the captain in the army is strategic and passionate about his men. Kirill, a leader within the Bratva is strategic and looking to rule the world.

GAH!! This story is phenomenal and just beginning!!

Take my breath away – stupendous reading!! Every single time Rina writes a book I’m blown away!! Her crafted writing and flushed out characters continually slay me.

From the quiet and aloof Creighton King we were previously introduced to, I fell in love with the multitude of brilliance and depth that fascinated me not only in his singular focus of topics or subjects, but also in his awareness of everything or everyone around him. His passion for caring may have only extended to those in his very small circle and he may have seen those certain traits about himself as flaws, but what I love about finding the person who completes you is they don’t see your flaws, they recognize their other half. Creighton was so much more than I was expecting and I love those kind of surprises.

Annika Volkov is bright and shiny and loves to fill the quiet with talking. She is the total opposite of Creighton is just about every way except she’s completely drawn to him like a moth to a flame and even when Creigh gets up and walks away repeatedly from her, he still can’t stop thinking about her.

What makes Annika such a unique character is that she’s grown up in a mafia world. Her father is not a soft man, he’s ruthless and hard, except when it comes to loving his wife-that is his one exception, but Annika is very aware of the world she comes from. Yet, she herself is quite the opposite when you think mafia princess. Her favorite color is purple, she’s outgoing and friendly and she wants to experience everything life has to offer, even quiet and sometimes harsh Creighton King.

I don’t want to color Rina’s book in a rose colored way, but I do adore that she so brilliantly matches her characters in a way that every crack they have in their armor or every flaw they possibly possess, their soulmate fills up those cracks and is drawn to the other even more so because of their flaws. It’s why her anti-villains are so easy to fall for and so easily forgivable. While Creighton does warn her off, Annika is quite stubborn in her pursuit, and it doesn’t take long for Creighton to stake his claim. Prepare for steam, steam, and more steam.

What I love about these Legacy of Gods books is the interaction with other family members. Basically everyone is related or interconnected in someway throughout all of these books and finding that string to the connection is half of the fun. We were introduced to everyone in the first book, but only had a deeper dive into some of the cast members, but now with two new leads who have different best friends and family members, we got an intimate look at several more of the cast members. That part was definitely delicious, for instance; Eli and Creighton and Jeremy and Annika. I loved reading their interactions and can’t wait for more in this world. There is was also interaction with their families in general, which is great for fans or even new readers to get to know who the original Gods are. Probably my favorite moments were glimpses into those family times and hearing myself say, you fall for someone just like your parent, and for these two star-crossed lovers where the book had lots of heavy deep moments, that saying made me chuckle several times.

Once again, Rina’s writing is absolutely brilliant and her books continue to astound me.

The Legacy of Gods series is a new world that brings us the children from the Royal Elite and Mafia World villain’s and their queens. Characters we’ve already fallen in love with, or for some readers they may never have met, either way, this world is brand new and the perfect place to meet brand new characters who are unapologetic for who they are and a place for us to fall in love with all the dark romance that their actions take us on. It’s a wild ride and one I’m still in complete awe over even hours after finishing the book. I have a feeling this entire series is going to involve lots of book hangovers.

Killian Carson doesn’t process emotions like the rest of the world. He has no empathy for others or remorse for his actions. He also becomes fixated on certain things, becoming obsessive about them to the point of destruction and right now his current fixation has become Glyndon King. Like the prey trying to escape the hunter he loves the chase, the struggle and especially the color red or should I say blood.

Glyndon King is familiar with someone like Killian. Her brother, Landon, is very similar in their personalities. While she recognizes the traits within Killian, she certainly doesn’t like being the center of his obsessive world. She does everything to escape him, fearing he’ll see deeper into her own secrets and darkness and Killian for all of his lack of emotions seems to see all of hers and knows her better than even she does.

These two are one of Rina’s most explosive couples’ yet. I feel like all I can say is Wow, Wow, Wow! Killian was like opening a box inside another box inside another box, etc….His character was fascinating and yet, also kept me on the edge of my seat never knowing exactly what he was going to do. I loved him for what would seem like a hollow shell on the outside, but he was truly a kaleidoscope of color on the inside. Glyndon grew in her strength, but it was more of an uncovering, something she always had inside of her, but Killian helped to bring it out. Their story was turbulent and dark with a splash of mystery that I’ve come to love with Kent’s books, but I was also transfixed and loved every moment of it.

The secondary characters, I almost hate to call them that only because I know many of them will be getting their own books, but for now that’s where they were cast. Each and everyone was fascinating in their own rights. I truly couldn’t decide who I would want to read next because they all have their strengths and deserve a chance in the spotlight. There were also great moments with family and of course when they are gathered together with their friends it checked off everyone of my boxes for a truly great beginning to this new series!

Amazing end to the Empire series; lusty, possessive, obsessive, and full of explosive passion. Kingsley and Aspen walk that thin line between love and hate and their story knocks it out of the park.

These two have been at each other’s throats for years, but they always say hate is a closer emotion to love than you would ever think. Kingsley and Aspen’s verbal sparring is top notch and their competitive nature is unlike others in their firm. While they are both lawyers, who by nature tend to have inflated egos and a higher ambition to begin with, these two constantly share a hate/lust filled fest whenever they are near and that lust portion finally bubbles over in a fireworks type manner.

Their banter is funny; how Kingsley continually calls Aspen witch, or how Aspen refers to him as Lucifer, they never give up, even after they fall in bed together. However, the longer they stay together, they do take offence to anyone else referring to the other as their “pet” name. I love it and how possessive they are of each other.

They each have their own issues to tackle, their pasts coming back to haunt them, but always at the forefront between them is Gwen. Yes, Kingsley and Aspen share a daughter, their relationship is complicated at best. Their story is best read without any third party interference on my part, but know these two are addictive and all the build up between them (if any prior books have been read) just made this book spectacular for all the anticipation.

While this is the last book  in the Empire series, Rina wrote it as a standalone, but I feel the series is best to read from beginning to end. It’s hard to pick one couple that is my absolute favorite because I loved them all, especially how they all interconnected at the same firm. Each book brought a unique flavor, sort of like each lawyer has their own talent at Weaver and Shaw. This has been another great series by Rina Kent.

This book is for everyone who needs a second chance.

Heartbreaking, heartfelt, healing…wow, that’s several H words, but nonetheless true. Empire of Hate emcompasses years of hurt and misunderstandings based in a world that is set up of false smiles and backstabbing promises.

This is a book where both Daniel and Nicole have been wrong and been wronged and neither are in a tower waiting to be rescued like a damsel in distress nor are they anyones Prince Charming swooping in to the rescue.

This book is raw and open and, what I feel, is probably one of the most touching stories that Rina has written to date. I know that that statement may seem odd with hate being in the title, but after riding the emotional rollercoaster with these two I think it will all make sense when you finish the book as well.

While I continue my gushing H word review, cause it appears I’m not done, Empire of Hate is also humbling. It carries a plot that reminds us we are human and to always remember there are two sides to every story.

Worlds merging, stars alining, and secrets uncovered…plus, hotness everywhere…Empire of Sin is pure epicness!! I sat down and this beautiful baby was read cover to cover in one fantastic sitting. I loved, loved, loved it!

Knox Van Doren and Anastasia Sokolov are two characters that pure reading gold. Not only are they plucked from two of Rina’s amazing other series, but on their own they are just brilliantly fantastic together.

Anastasia is escaping from the dark world she was raised in. The bratva leaves little room for hugs and kisses, especially when she is the only daughter of the bratva leader. Taking matters into her own hands she transforms herself and creates a new identity – Jane – and escapes. Somehow destiny put her in the path of Knox Van Doren and she is weak to say no to his tempting allure even when she knows it’s the last place she should be.

Knox doesn’t take kindly to lying. He especially doesn’t like when he’s been duped. When he realizes his last one night stand is working in his building and has completely transformed her appearance, he’s already angry about her lies. This time his little liar won’t escape his warpath. Jane or whoever she says she is is about to learn a lesson.

Is it wrong to say I was giddy excited through this entire book? First of all, Knox and Ana are raging hot right from the start and their chemistry never lets up – that can sometimes be hard to do when characters start off full steam, where do you go-right, but Knox and Ana only seemed to get hotter as the story progressed, their passion burned brighter as their emotions grew. That is truly the best kind of reading.

Next, the cameo appearances had me squealing over and over again. Rina stuck to this book being a standalone and she did a great job of it, you didn’t have to be an expert on Rina’s books to understand who the characters are, but personally, having read her other books it totally made me excited to view these glimpses and have a brief catch up into past character lives.

Lastly, the pure adrenaline of how these two, from completely different worlds could ever make it work. End of day, Ana is a mafia princess and Knox is a lawyer who is used to bringing bad men to justice. How can these two worlds really work? I will not give away one iota on this topic, because I was on the edge of my seat until the very end and that is how it should be.

Everything about this story is page turning magic!!

This may not be Kent’s normal dark romance, but it’s a well written, outstanding story that contains a lot of forbidden tropes.

Nate Weaver, my favorite lawyer, is here and everything I was hoping for. Nate  may not be the kind of man to openly show that he cares, just ask his nephew, but he is a ninja carer. What does that mean? He basically sneaks in undercover and without you knowing he takes of everything in your life and you never even have a chance to thank him for it. Especially don’t thank him, it makes him uncomfortable. I love how unattached he seems, it’s delightful.

Nate’s circle is small, he doesn’t like emotions, but he’s also really amazing. Like, will drive a person crazy kind of amazing, but once he’s under your skin he’s impossible to to kick out. Ask Gwen who’s been trying for years.

Gwendolyn Shaw is the daughter of Nate’s best friend, Kingston. A daughter that King had during his last year in high school and Nate has been there every step of the way. Nate never once saw Gwendolyn as anything other than King’s daughter, until she kissed him on her eighteenth birthday. That is when everything changed.

Gwen has been in love with Nate since she understood what that meant, outside of familial love. She has had a singular focus when it came to loving Nate, her favorite flavor in the world, which is vanilla, and loving her dad, which should be hard considering Nate is her dad’s best friend, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

Gwen never thought she’d get a chance with Nathaniel, considering he didn’t give her the time of day, but when everything in her life careens out of control, he’s there taking charge and suddenly her husband.

While this isn’t a dark romance, it also isn’t a happy-go-lucky romance either. It’s forbidden and sinful, while also being emotional (and remember Nate doesn’t like those). Rina really captures everything that is important in an age-gap romance that makes that soul deep connection burn and thrive, but also makes you cheer for the HEA. It’s delicious.
