Nerdy Little Secret
(A standalone)

Review:

A hotmess falls for the hot nerd. This is a great summer read that will give you all the hot feels!

Jolie is a complete mess. Rich, entitled and beautiful – yes, but her life has spun out of control to the point where she is on academic probation and had to serve community service. She is living a lie to keep up her image which is just one more thing to add to her ever growing dumpster fire. The one good thing she really has if Mick Barrett, the boy she met at summer camp where she began her community service, but unlike her feelings for him that she can’t seem to stop, her lies for why she was there are just beginning.

Mick has been driven and working hard to achieve his goal to go to medical school for as long as he can remember. Going to summer camp was his one concession to his parents to actually stop and have fun. He had no idea he’d meet someone like Jolie or the feelings that would follow. However, the summer ended and he never thought he’d see her again, so when he begins a new college in the fall he’s shocked to see her on campus, but that’s not what stuns him the most, she basically treats him like he doesn’t exist and after how close they were over the summer he gets a look at the real Jolie.

While Jolie is on probation she needs help getting back into college and Mick agrees to help tutor her much to his own astonishment considering her initial treatment of him. Jolie has a lot of apologizing to do, but it does come at a cost of him knowing part of her secret, so things do even out, sort of. While Mick holds the power to blow up her entire world, at his core he’s a nice guy, so the chances of him doing so are small, but who likes giving anyone power, right?

While they both agree to keep things casual, nothing more should come of a relationship since Mick has a lot on his plate too, pushing himself to the brink of classes, an internship, tutoring Jolie, and keeping up with his father’s illness (the reason he’s entering the medical field) Mick runs thin. Anyone could break under the pressure, even the nicest guy in the world.

Two opposites who actually ground each other, complete each other, but they each have to figure out what’s more important as they face their future. Whether it’s together or apart.

Synopsis:

I’m sleeping with the nerd.
The nice guy.
The science geek who wears periodic table t-shirts around campus.

That’s my dirty little secret, but it began long before he unknowingly transferred to the same college I attend. We met at the summer camp I was mandated to work at, and our hush-hush affair started behind the kayak cabin and in the darkened canteen long after our respective campers went to sleep.

When Mick Barrett, rockstar name a complete red herring, enrolls at Salem Walsh University, we’re both shocked the first time we bump into each other. And he’s … surprisingly cold. With goals and secrets of his own, Mick is closed off and uninterested, something I’ve never encountered from the opposite sex.

My bruised ego has no time to recover, however, when he discovers the real secret I’m keeping, one that’s even more detrimental than our steamy summer fling. Agreeing to become my tutor, and help me save my future, the glasses-wearing swimmer, with the body of an Olympian under that punny math sweatshirt, begins to grow on me. Again.

Except we both have bigger things to focus on than sneaking around. Plus, we’re not made for each other. He’s aiming to be the next doctor of our generation, while I’m just hoping to survive my Saturday morning hangover.

Too bad our bodies, and hearts, start to believe otherwise.
Which has me questioning; can my dirty little secret become a happily ever after?

Trick You; Rebel Ink #2
(A standalone within a series)

by: Tracy Lorraine

Review Rating:

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

A catfish story with a lot of steam and a ton of heart. An interconnected story where what happens in Vegas is a commitment that doesn’t stay in Vegas.

Titch/Carter didn’t mean to catfish Danni Abbott. He was only looking to get out of his one-night stand rut and using his brother’s picture (a banker in a suit without tattoos) seemed like a good idea at the time. Unfortunately, when Danni showed up for their face to face date she didn’t find his reasonings very reasonable. She was dead set that he was out to trick her from the get go and thus began their rocky relationship, Things didn’t get much better when Titch found out that Danni is Zach’s little sister. You see Zach is Titch’s best friend and co-worker at Rebel Ink. Zach is also dating Danni’s best friend Biff. Yeah, life just got a lot more complicated is his dating life.

I adore Titch’s wholehearted belief and tenacity that Danni would eventually give into her feelings for him. He is relentless in his pursuit of her which is really adorable and someone I’d totally want in my corner. He is caring, attentive, sweet, loving, artistic, and just an all around decent guy. Although Titch used his brother’s picture on his dating profile, he’s dealt a crappy hand when it comes to families. So many times I wanted to jump through my kindle and give him a hug.

Danni and Zach come from a wealthy family. Where her family name might give her certain privileges, she still works hard to keep her own apartment and be her own person. So, her independent attitude can be, at times is a bit abrasive, it is indicative of the person she is. Where her her attitude could be deemed as a bit much to take Carter actually loves her spunky spirit and never tries to dampen it. Perhaps it is the environment he himself grew up in, but Carter sees through her shields, and knows it is just a cover. As much as she tries to push him away, over and over, he never gives up, burying himself deeper under her skin, while they both open up who they really are underneath all the trickery.

Carter was definitely a loveable underdog, while Danni takes a little longer to like, but in the end having her in his court and them as a couple is a wonderful thing.

Trick You is a story that hammers home; family is what you make, not what you are born into. I have always loved this concept and with Rebel Ink this new family is a prime example.

Trick You is an interconnected series, where reading Hate You would certainly enhance your reading experience, but it’s not necessary before reading Trick You. Zach and Biff from Hate You are not only best friends of Titch and Danni’s, they are also woven throughout this storyline quite often. I believe if you haven’t read Hate You yet, you will want to. Enjoy!

Synopsis:

I hated to trick her…

But I knew she would never go for the real me.

She was beautiful, smart and funny—everything I could want.
And I was… well. Me.

Tattooed, foul mouthed, bad boy.

I told one little white lie hoping to meet someone different. And I did.

Danniella Abbot.

She wasn’t who I was expecting, and I guess she could say the same, because Danni made it very clear she wasn’t interested in me or my reasons for lying.

The fact that she was my best friend’s little sister only complicated an already impossible situation.

I didn’t intend on tricking her. I just wanted her to give me a chance, to discover who I am underneath the ink.

She can fight me all she likes because we both know that I’m exactly her type. She just doesn’t know it yet.

What happens when you wake up married to the woman you tricked into a date?

You kiss the bride and prove her wrong.

Dear Readers,

Trick You is the second book in my angst-filled, emotional and steamy Rebel Ink series.

Colton

From the moment she showed up on my doorstep, I knew our lives would never be the same. I felt it deep in my soul that she was going to change us forever. I didn’t know how, but I knew she was important. I tried to maintain the distance between us, but it was too strong to fight.

With each passing day, I saw a future I never planned flash before my eyes—one with a fairytale ending. The only problem is that someone wanted to take that away from me, away from us. I just found her, and no way am I letting her go that easily.  Hollis is family, my family, and I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her.

Hollis

Colton Callahan wasn’t what I expected. I was in desperate need of a fresh start, ready for something new, but all it took was one look at those intoxicating blue eyes for me to reevaluate everything. I tried to stay detached, but something about him just called to me.

It took no time at all for me to fall. Not only for the man I share a living space with, but also his son, Milo. The problem is my past is not too far behind, trailing behind me and slowly catching up. When it finally does, I have a choice to make—run away, leaving them behind, or stay and fight, potentially putting them in danger. Either way, I could lose it all.

EXCERPT

Sebastian clutched my hand with a tougher grip, his concerned eyes turning a deeper shade of brown, nearly onyx. “Your bravery astounds me.”
My eyebrows crinkled and I looked into his eyes, searching for his own lie, but I came up short. “I’m not brave, Sebastian.”
He scoffed, his other hand settling on my hip. The air around us grew dense with electricity, nearly suffocating me.
The euphoria from standing up to Lana and the passionate gaze coming from Sebastian nearly sucked the life from my insides. I reveled in it.
He released one of my hands and slowly reached for me, his fingers lightly tracing my jaw. “You have no idea the impact you have.” He stared intently at my neck, his eyes opening wide as I swallowed. His teeth bit at the inside of his cheek just as his grip landed on my shoulder – kneading his fingers into my goose bumped skin. “Please don’t question your bravery.”
I sucked in a breath, the release shaky.
His face inched closer to me, his minty exhale cascading over my face. Suddenly, I was grossly aware of our closeness and the fact that I didn’t want to push him away. I wanted him closer. Needed him to touch me.
The hand on my shoulder moved to the side of my neck, his strong, calloused fingers tangling in my curly hair. Air entered my lungs in short bursts, and I hoped he didn’t notice.
Trailing my open hand up his arm, the veins and muscles contracted under my touch.
“Stop me, Zona,” he breathed, his lips ghosting the skin near my earlobe.
I shook my head, tilting back to give him better access to whatever he wanted.
Stop him? There was a chance I was going to forget how to breathe. It felt as if all of our quiet moments had led up to this one. It felt out-of-the-blue and so incredibly right.
He snickered, the small puffs of air escaping his mouth jolting me slightly.
I clung to him, yearning for the smallest touch.
“Good,” he said, right before he pulled me close, his lips barely touching my skin.

A chocolate mistress, Cassie Graham is a born and raised Arizona girl. Her sass knows no bounds and almost always has something kind to say, no matter the situation. She runs a platform of love and strives to bring those attributes out in every book she writes.

She started writing early in her high school career after an English teacher forced her to write in a journal. Four years and thirty-something notebooks full of words later, she found her passion.

If Cassie isn’t shoulder-deep in writing a version of a fairytale, you can find her front porch sitting with her husband and daughter, eating all the bread, gossiping with her best friends, visiting Disneyland, supporting strong women, listening to cheesy music and reading great books by amazing people. She loves binge-watching Supernatural, drooling over Dean, Sam and Cas, and going to conventions. She also enjoys spreading love any chance she can. So, if you run into her, give her a hug or a high-five. She guarantees they’re magic.

Review – Heartbreaker by Julie Kriss

Heartbreaker; Cocky Hero Club
(A standalone within the Cocky Hero Club)

by: Julie Kriss

Review Rating:

Review/Synopsis:

Review:

A sweet second chance romance that fits perfectly in with the Cocky Hero Club. I love the intertwining with Stuck Up Suit.

Mina wasn’t exactly living her dream. Living in New York, yes, but working at Morgan Financial Holdings as an office supply girl wasn’t the job she aspired to. She originally moved to NY to pursue the theatre, but she hadn’t exactly landed her Broadway debut yet so to pay the bills and her reading habit she was running toner and copy paper through the halls of a financial company for an overbearing boss.

After a grueling day at work Mina gets trapped in an elevator and of everyone in the huge city of New York she is rescued by none other than the one man she hoped to never see again, Holden Whittaker. Holden stood her up for prom 10 years ago and broke her heart. How he ended moving to the one city she also escaped to is a mystery, but one she doesn’t care to find out. She’s still angry even after a decade, especially since he also messed up her hot EMT fantasy.

Holden couldn’t believe his luck. He’d always wanted to apologize to Mina for standing her up on prom. It’s a long story, one that is long overdue to explain. He never thought he’d get a chance, but destiny must be on his side because in the big city of NY Mina has landed right before him. Getting a second chance with the girl he’d always wanted a first chance with wouldn’t be easy, but he’d do everything right this time, if only she will give him a chance this time around.

Two souls have a chance at love, but will Holden and Mina give into what destiny has in store for them? Building trust can be tricky when self esteem has been a lifelong process of being shattered.

Synopsis:

Holden Whittaker broke my heart when I was eighteen. What kind of guy stands up his prom date and leaves her hanging, waiting for him to show up? A total jerk, that’s who.

Never mind. I left my tiny nowhere town and moved to New York to follow my dream of becoming an actress.

Ten years later, my dream hasn’t happened, and I’m working as the office supply girl at Morgan Financial Holdings, doing my best to keep my paycheck and not get fired by the world’s most terrifying boss. Life couldn’t get much worse, until I get stuck in an elevator and guess who comes to rescue me? In a city of eight million people, it’s Holden.

Turns out he’s moved to New York, too, to be an EMT. I don’t want to see my teenage nemesis as one of the good guys, but he’s out saving lives every day, and he’s still gorgeous and cocky. I could fall for him all over again, and that’s a problem. Because it’s only a matter of time before Holden crushes me again.

My hometown heartbreaker isn’t the guy I left behind anymore. If I could stop hating him, I might belong with him. The question is, which one of us will get hurt first?
