Back at the villa, I grabbed a beer from the fridge and retreated to the balcony. I’d missed the Oregon air. The smell of the Green Douglas Firs. I was home.
“Austin?”
Lifting my brows, I waited for what she had to say.
“You’ve done so much for me. I know that I owe you and…”
The chair flew back hitting the wall when I shot up. “Don’t, Phoebe. I paid you to come here with me, nothing more. Don’t do a goddamn thing because you think you owe me. I kissed you because I felt like kissing you. You should have just said no. I’d have respected that. But don’t kiss me because you feel some fucked up obligation.”
I stepped past her, rage boiling beneath the surface, and I stormed back inside.
“I didn’t kiss you because I felt obligated,” she whispered. “I’ve imagined that kiss a thousand times in my head since I met you.”
I stopped in my tracks and slowly pivoted around.
“Those kisses trumped every fantasy kiss I’ve had but…”
“No buts,” I stated, setting my beer on the table. I swallowed as I strode purposefully toward her without reservation. The deal sealed when she started walking too.

AUTHOR BIO

Just the fact that someone may be reading my ‘bio’ thrills me. What does one say in an author bio? Well, I LOVE to write! Sometimes characters talk to me in my head (in a non-psychotic way) and I have to get what they are saying out on paper! So, here we are!  J

I am a part-time juvenile probation officer and full-time wife, but I spend the majority of the time helping my two favorite, college-aged sons navigate through life and hopefully become the best humans they can be.

I am a huge fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, the Oregon Ducks, the Chicago Cubs (I have a dog named Wrigley) and the Kansas City Chiefs.

I’m terribly addicted to music—ALLLLL kinds and driving in the car with the sunroof open and radio turned up helps the creative juices flow.

I am deliciously addicted to queso and cupcakes; but even with that…I like to slowly kill my body with Crossfit. I’m annoyingly sarcastic.

People ask me ‘what has been your favorite book to write’—I would have to say my original series. (I think it sold 100 copies)  J   FINALLY, I’m tweaking them! My heart was poured into these books—but they needed tweaking.  Slick was my Amazon best seller, but every one of them mean something to me.

In the end, I truly believe life is taken way too seriously by most. I say enjoy every moment, have an adult beverage and READ!! Cheers….

“Well, I guess I should—”

“Invite me up.” There wasn’t a hint of request in his words, so of course, it tweaked Kelli just enough that she’d deny herself what she wanted—him in her bed tonight—just to put the man in his place.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

Though the two of them had gone out for dinner a couple of nights this week, they’d met at the restaurants and managed to not talk about Halloween or that fucking hot as hell interlude in the bathroom last Sunday.

“Kell,” he said, his gaze heated…hungry. “Invite me up. Now.”

“You know,” she said, turning away from him, not surprised when he followed, “it would serve you right if I sent you packing, you cocky bastard.

“But then you’d suffer too.”

She glanced over her shoulder to make sure he could see her rolling her eyes. “I’d hardly suffer. You’re not that—”

Colm cut her words off with a firm smack on the ass. “You go to hell for lying, Kell.” And then, to punctuate that, he smacked her again.

“Ouch,” she said through clenched teeth, trying not to recall how he’d done the same thing the night of Halloween and how much she’d fucking loved it. She punched in the code to her apartment building and led him inside.

“That was just a warm-up,” he warned.

He’d certainly warmed up her ass, but she wasn’t about to admit that. Or how much she wanted him to make it burn.

My storytelling career began when I forced everyone play “make believe” with me when I was a kid. That eventually morphed into banging out short stories on my mom’s old manual typewriter. As I got older, I graduated to penning bad poetry, then not terrible plays as a teenager. I studied playwright in college but my career took a detour and I ended up working in journalism and then entertainment publicity, which kept me busy for 20 or so years.

My “day job” has taken me from gritty rock clubs in The Bowery to glam red carpets during movie premieres and awards shows. My background working with talent (and the suits) in the industry has served me well with the LA Rock Star Romance series.

A few years ago, I decided to pursue my original passion and a few full-length novels later, here we are.

Great start for Erin Mallon’s debut novel! Lot’s of LOL moments intermixed with dino learning.

I have always loved going to the museum and the dinosaur exhibits have especially one of my favorite stops when I visit. Growing up near Chicago I had my fair share of museum’s to pick from so I was easily able to imagine the world Calliope was immersed in.

Told completely from her POV, we get to see Calliope stick her foot in her mouth quite a bit, but she doesn’t often see her own transgressions. As a scientist in a male populated field, she often has a lack of filter, which makes for lots of quirky moments, but it also gets her into sticky situations like her meet-cute with Ralph the astronomer.

Calliope is stuck in an elevator when she first meets Ralph and he is on the other side of the doors, so they only hear each other’s voices. She only has his sultry voice to go on to find him later, but lo and behold, he’s the planetarium guide leading the show and talking about how the dinosaurs died. She’s appalled that he killed her dinos. Ralph adores her quirky views and so begins their flirty relationship.

My name is Calliope and “I bone for a living.” Kidding. I am studying to be a paleontologist though. It’s the only thing I’ve ever wanted to be, and I have finally landed the perfect museum internship to make all of my dino-loving dreams come true.
