Reverie and Redemption
(A standalone)
Publication Date: December 9, 2021
Genre/Tropes: Reverse Harem/ Supernatural Romance
Author: Kaydence Snow
Review/Synopsis:
This is a beautiful story that takes a new spin on a centuries old folktale. I was drawn in by the lush words and fell down into the rabbit hole from the very beginning and loved the entire book.
Kaydence Snow spins a gorgeous tale about forgiveness, friendship, love and redemption. A story that touches on the human condition, how people treat others when someone isn’t like you, but what I loved is that Reverie never gave in to pity, spitefulness, or had a hardened heart.
Reverie has been alone most of her life. First losing her family and friends to a strange phenomenon, where those close to her fall into a strange fugue like state, sometimes awakening and sometimes not. This strange fate caused those in the town she’s lived in her entire life to distance themselves from her, even to belittle her in public. It broke my heart on how those she grew up with treated her, but Reverie never let it get her down.
Reverie has been on her own for so long, when she begins to hear voices, she thinks she’s finally losing it. Little does she know that these voices belong to three men; Oskar, Hollis, and Sinan known as Dreamwalkers. Her life takes a turn once she “meets” these three guys and discovers why she’s able to communicate with the apparitions. No longer lonely she has someone to talk to and figure out why her life has been plagued by a strange monster.
Oskar, Hollis, and Sinan all have their own stories and how Reverie communicates with them…well, there is a supernatural element that I enjoyed, but I also liked that it didn’t overpower the plot either. The four of them grew into a relationship organically, well, as organically as a relationship like this would and the story flowed at the right pace.
Reverie has a confidence and strength that is to be revered throughout the entire book. She may be alone, but she has built a world around her where she rarely feels lonely. As she gets to know Oskar, Hollis, and Sinan she realizes how much she enjoys their friendship, but they make her see how much they treasure her. She is so strong and I love how she never gives up.
I really loved Kaydence’s take on this centuries old tale and the dreamscapes she builds are quite epic. Each man also came with their own backstory that added a wonderful layer to the storytelling and gave the characters depth, which gave me, the reader, a deeper connection to the entire world.
Reverie and Redemption was so much more than I expected when I started the book and I loved the entire story.
Synopsis:
I’m in love with three men. I’m just not sure if they’re a dream come true or my worst nightmare.
It began with hearing voices – just another step on my steady descent into madness. It was inevitable, considering the whole town hated me and I was the loneliest person on the planet.
I didn’t really blame them, I guess. Everyone who got close to me ended up in the hospital. I’d be suspicious of me too.
When the three distinct, alluring voices in my head started to appear before my eyes as three distinct, gorgeous men I really started to question everything I thought I knew.
They called themselves Dreamwalkers and told me they were hunting the monster attacking all the people around me.
They won’t leave me alone.
I’m not sure I want them too.
But am I the monster they’re after? Or are we all in worse danger than I ever could’ve imagined?
